Therefore, it is not surprising that almost every manufacturer strives to have a model of this type in its range. Can the Korean SsangYong count on something in a market dominated by solid Japanese and European brands? Let's try to find out during the first test of the Tivoli model.
The oldest associations that the SsangYong brand evokes are associated with Musso SUVs, which could be seen fifteen years ago. Of the more recent ones, I recall the dubious beauty of Rodius - quite functional and spacious car. Currently, the company's offer includes five models, plus the sixth - the one that got to the test. For the average person, all these cars are exotic.
The long-announced Tivoli opens new page in the history of the Korean manufacturer. Its name is associated with a resort town near Rome. But what is important is that this is the first independently developed model after the acquisition of this brand by the Indian concern Mahindra & Mahindra Limited in 2010. A year later, the world saw the first concept car from the XIV series, which, after several changes, turned into new car. At present, this is the only option Tivoli, but in the future the engine line should be replenished with a 115-horsepower diesel engine. Let's move on to the inside, which, at first glance, produces good impression. The attention is drawn to well-shaped seats (which, moreover, are quite comfortable), as well as a large screen. multimedia system. The top of the dashboard on the passenger side is covered with a pleasant soft material. The rest, unfortunately, is a little hard. In general, the quality of plastic is not delightful, but for a car in this segment, everything is within the normal range.
A stylish highlight is the ability to choose the color of the sign illumination - from temperamental red, azure or yellow to more restrained white, blue and black. Koreans offer three design options - black, beige and red. The last of them is especially attractive - not only in color, but also in an interesting combination with a red steering wheel trim in the quarter to three position. Given the appropriate proportions, this solution can be compared with that used in Lexus LFA. The steering wheel itself, which, according to the manufacturer, resembles the steering wheel of an aircraft, looks modern and sporty. I was a little surprised by a slight flattening at the bottom. Is this solution really suitable for urban conditions in which this car will spend 99% of the time?
The functionality of the cabin is not satisfactory. Pockets are enough. The one on the passenger side deserves special praise. Its opening is not very large, but the depth is impressive. The elements that SsangYong Tivoli can be proud of is rear legroom and a 424-liter trunk. The boot can best be described as organized and roomy, especially when compared to the competition.
In the European market, this car will be available in four versions - Crystal Base, Crystal, Quartz and Sapphire. The price of the cheapest one starts from 14,000 Euros, for the most expensive one you will have to pay 5,000 Euros more. IN standard equipment includes belts with dual pretensioners and a smartsteer system with different modes steering. Unfortunately, most of the elements (for example, the choice of clock illumination) are available only in the most expensive versions. After the presentation, there was some surprise. Previous reports that Tivoli opens completely new era in the history of SsangYong, caused skepticism. New Tivoli Sangyong 2017 reached the Russian market. The model in the form of the X100 and XLV concepts wandered around the world auto shows for quite some time.
