The model was updated in 2004. Citroen specialists faced a difficult task - to improve the car, which has not lost its relevance in seven years of production. Therefore, the structurally updated Citroen Berlingo practically remained the same. He did not receive all-wheel drive and newfangled off-road modifications. The range of power units also remained the same: gasoline 1.4 l / 75 hp. and 1.6 l / 110 hp engines and two turbodiesels of 1.8 and 2.0 liters. There is also a modification with a 1.1 liter engine, but it was not delivered to Russia.
In the exterior of the restyled Berlingo, the main emphasis is on a radical update of the front end: in particular, the headlights, fenders, bumpers and radiator grille have acquired a completely new shape. In addition, the hood line has been raised. The car has become more proportional, and the driver, seeing the edges of the hood, feels the dimensions better. Like the previous generation, the new Berlingo boasts a huge trunk. The volume of which is 2.8 m³ for the passenger version and 3 m³ for the van. It is also important that the "spare wheel" is not in the trunk, but under the floor outside, which eliminates the need for unloading when changing the wheel. In addition, there are a lot of all sorts of pleasant little things; some are standard, while others, such as a mesh curtain that separates the trunk from the passenger compartment, are available as options.
The interior has undergone major changes. A new instrument panel appeared with air duct deflectors from the Citroen C3 and a gearshift knob from the same model. The panel is very simple and traditional in design, but everything is very convenient and practical. A new four-spoke steering wheel was installed, and the upper part of the panel was supplemented with a shelf, in front of which an electronic clock was placed. Everything else remained familiar. As before, Berlingo is offered in two versions: either a van or a combi passenger version. The number of doors varies, with the base van having two doors, while more expensive versions have three or five. The sliding door is installed on the starboard side, if desired, for an additional fee, you can install the same door on the port side. The basic modification has a double-leaf tailgate that swings open to the sides, and for a surcharge you can get a one-piece tailgate that opens up. Because of the doors in the van model, there are some visibility problems. In terms of design, Berlingo resembles a passenger car: independent suspension at the front, semi-independent torsion bar at the rear, front-wheel drive, etc.
The debut of the second generation Citroen Berlingo took place in the spring of 2008 in Birmingham. But the successful Berlingo of the first generation did not begin to be discontinued, but continued to be produced at the same factory where the production of the second generation began, but under the name Berlingo First. The extended seven-seat XL version is now neater - there is no coarse insert to the aft overhang. Citroen Berlingo Multispace even has 17-inch wheels and eight body color options, which include the presence of black, white, sand, red, blue and green. In addition, there are two versions of gray.
The side part has large doors with ribs and contoured windows. External mirrors were placed on a special fastener, which guarantees the correct view. The aft part also has a massive tailgate. Such a door is very necessary for convenient folding of luggage, since the car was created not only for transporting people, but also for cargo.

The French novelty offers a fairly high level of road comfort for the driver and passenger. The engineering team has equipped its model with a whole list of relevant devices that are needed during long trips. These include a projection widescreen monitor, a convenient multi-steering wheel, cruise and climate control, an option that can determine the lane and signs on the road, and identify dead zones.
As well as an emergency warning system, immediate braking technology, the option to change the low / high beam in automatic mode, the ability to start a car without a key, a platform for charging electronic gadgets, video cameras, a panoramic roof, a technology that detects driver fatigue and parking sensors.
For convenience, the handbrake received an electric drive. The luggage compartment of the “M” modification has 775 liters of usable space, and the long version “XL” with a five-seat interior already has a figure of 1,050 liters.

The latest family of Citroen Berlingo Multispace has only turbocharged engines. The gasoline range received a three-cylinder 1.2-liter PureTech engine with direct “power”, variable valve timing and a 12-valve gas distribution mechanism architecture.
Such an “engine” comes in 2 versions: 110 hp. at 5,500 rpm and 205 Nm of peak thrust at 1,750 rpm, as well as 130 “horses” at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm.
The diesel range received a 1.5-liter BlueHDi in-line four, which has a battery injection system and an 8- or 16-valve gas distribution mechanism that provides for three levels of efficiency:
- 75 “mares” at 3,500 rpm and 230 Nm of maximum thrust at 1,750 rpm;
- 110 "horses" at 3,500 rpm and 254 peak torque at 1,750 rpm;
- 130 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm.
Based on test drives Citroen Berlingo 2018, we concluded that gasoline power units consume about 7.6 liters for every 100 kilometers. The diesel list has a lower figure - 5 liters.
Transmission
