SsangYong Tivoli XLV is a long version of the crossover from Korean manufacturers. Test drive SsangYong Tivoli

Whole photoshoot

After almost two years, new SsangYong models are again offered for sale in Russia. Our audience is offered Tivoli crossover, and its XLV modification with an extended rear overhang, an enlarged trunk and minor design differences. Our test was one of the front-wheel drive versions of the XLV, of which there are four. There is also an all-wheel drive, but the only one

In general, SsangYong does not often please motorists with new products not only in our country, but throughout the world. Of course, you will smile at the word “pleasant”: the company is not among the leaders on our automotive market, but, however, she occupied good positions in it: 15th - 20th place in the overall ranking. 30-40 thousand cars of this brand were sold annually. The Kyron frame SUV and crossover had the greatest success. load-bearing body New Action.

SsangYong is, first of all, design. Then everything else...

Why did sales drop to almost zero? It’s not at all about the quality of cars of this brand, the owners, in general, didn’t complain so much about it, on the contrary, they confirmed them quite high reliability. We were especially proud of gasoline and diesel engines with Mercedes roots. Actually, there was almost nothing to break in Sanyeng, they could not be called riding technical progress. But an example of design sophistication - you can. For the pretentious appearance of some models (the first generation Musso SUV, Actyon and Actyon Sports and especially the Rodius minivan), the company was criticized, and deservedly so. Sometimes the efforts of designers really went off scale.

But the reason for the decline in sales, again, was not this. The problem was that the representative company of the brand in Russia - Sollers - failed to fulfill a number of localization conditions when assembling cars at a Far Eastern enterprise and lost tax preferences. As a result, even the Sanyengs assembled in our country turned out to be more expensive than their competitors, and the demand for them fell.

However, Sollers did not refuse to cooperate with the Korean company, on the contrary, they promised that the cars of the brand would return to our market. And finally, this happened, however, new models are not assembled here, but are imported from South Korea. This makes their price seem high. Nevertheless, there is interest in them, and considerable.

Design? Yes, according to tradition, it is original, but you can’t call novelties pretentious. Actually, their appearance practically repeats the appearance of the concepts of "short" and "long" crossovers presented at international car exhibitions in 2014 and 2016. From European countries Brand SsangYong most popular in Spain. But here's what's amazing. I had a chance to look at one of the Sanyeng presented in 2013 at Geneva Motor Show. And I was really struck by the fact that the quality of materials and assembly of the car interior was significantly lower than in cars that were offered in Russia. Seeing that SsangYong, you would easily compare it with the early "Chinese". But you can’t say the same about these cars sold in our country!

Some of these cars are familiar to me in every detail. For ten years, since 2007, our family has had three Sanyengs: Rexton, Kyron and the first generation Actyon Sports pickup truck. We still drive a pickup truck, in six years it ran more than 100 thousand kilometers, big problems did not annoy, so we are not going to part with him yet. Moreover, for the proceeds from the sale, we could not have bought anything more suitable for farming purposes and outdoor recreation.

The new SsangYong models were naturally very interesting to me, but I will be open-minded in the report. I'll tell you about the test XLV as it is, especially since I didn't like everything about it. But if you start with the design, then it turned out - in the tradition of the company - bright. On the road, this crossover will not get lost and will not be deprived of attention. In general, outwardly, the Tivoli XLV is very similar to a smaller copy of the Stavic minivan, which did not have time to "unwind" in our market, but individual specimens flicker on the roads. The XLV has a characteristic wide rear pillar body, but if the “short” Tivoli has it in the “tail”, the longer model has a window behind it. The peculiarly thickened rear fenders of the XLV, reminiscent of powerful hips, also attract attention. If you look at the car from the side, you will notice that the handle of the rear passenger door is higher than the front. The radiator grill, as such, is missing, but the front end of the model turned out to be quite memorable. In the headlights, “lines” of LED running lights are noticeable, LEDs are widely used in rear lights, which, in my opinion, the XLV is too massive, even bulky. The Tivoli has a different rear “optics”, it is made more delicately.

I do not rule out that crossovers in Russia are loved, among other things, because they are at least a little, but higher than sedans and hatchbacks. XLV is an exception. From it, you are unlikely to be able to look down on the cars, landing in it feels like a bit low. You feel like you are sitting almost on the same level as the drivers of Skoda Octavia and Nissan Almera, for example.

The hood up front is wide and long, and it's better to sit higher behind the wheel to see farther. But not all XLV versions have height adjustment for the driver's seat, and there is no steering wheel adjustment for reach at all. In the test copy, equipped with an electric chair, there was height adjustment, which is good. And in general, the driving position suited me as a driver, I didn’t manage to get tired, even after spending about six hours on the road. At the same time, I couldn't help but notice that the seat cushion was a bit short. In this model of the car it is felt distinctly.

According to the passport ground clearance Tivoli XLV is 167mm. This is less than competitors such as Hyundai Creta (175 mm) and Renault Kaptur (198 mm). Indeed, in a crossover from SsangYong you feel like in a passenger hatchback or station wagon. Our measurements showed that under the plastic protection of the engine compartment it is approximately 200 mm, under rear bumper- 32 mm. The loading height of the trunk is unexpectedly high: 80 cm.

But in hot weather, the seats in the Luxury version can be ventilated! Truly, the equipment of this crossover is bizarre. You probably already have doubts about heated seats? In vain - it is, moreover, you can warm up both the front seats and the back row. And what about the climate in the cabin? It is adjustable in two zones, both at the front. The back row is not supposed to have any air deflectors, much less temperature and fan intensity settings.

But passengers will not have to complain about the lack of space on the second row. The passport value of the rear cabin width at shoulder level is 138.5 cm. The transmission tunnel is practically absent. Overhead seats - with a margin. The distance from the cushion of the rear sofa to the back of the front seat with “my” driving position is about 28 cm. I sit completely freely behind myself (with a height of 182 cm). By the way, pay attention to what is on the back sides of the backs of the front seats: a kind of rubber holders stretched over the plastic ledges. Is it convenient? Imagine that you needed to pull out the atlas of highways fixed with these rubber bands on the go. From the front passenger seat this can still be done somehow, from the driver's side it is very difficult. And it will certainly be impossible to shove the atlas back. Inventing these elastic bands, interior designers have simply surpassed themselves. A similar element, by the way, is in the trunk, where it is more appropriate.

Naturally, it is easy to fold back parts of the rear sofa and get an enlarged trunk with a flat floor. How enlarged? The nominal volume of cargo space is 574 liters, and this is a very good indicator. But the creators of the car slyly add another 146 liters to it, supposedly hiding under the raised floor. Let's see what we have hidden there. Certainly not liters, but a thick foam insert with small recesses for travel trifles. So do not count on an additional 146 liters.

The liner not only "eats" part of the usable volume, it also has another drawback. Remove if necessary spare wheel(here it is a very miniature dokatka) you will have to remove this insert, which is not easy. First you need to lift it, then contrive and somehow turn it 90 degrees. Only then will he agree to “exit” through the opening of the tailgate. Actually, the raised floor shelf is removed in approximately the same way. Loading height is too big, it is 80 cm.

However, once again we praise the XLV for its almost 600-liter trunk in the "nominal value", as well as for its maximum volume of almost 1300 liters with the rear row of seats folded down. Wu " younger brother”, Tivoli, the trunk holds only a little over 420 liters of luggage.

Picking quirks

When we chose Sanyengi for ourselves, on-board computers were just coming into use, and our cars did not have them. Minus, and even what! None of them even had a primitive fuel flow meter, so we had to estimate the balance “by eye”. One could only dream of rich multimedia systems, or install third-party devices, which, given the originality of the torpedo in Chiron and “ Actione Sports' was not easy.

Tivoli XLV in this regard is certainly not completely modern level. There is also a multimedia system with a small (7 inches), but quite "colorful" and touch screen. There is a rear view camera. There is a rear parking sensors (it would be better if it was also in front). Between the instrument scales is an on-board computer, although with modest graphics, but informative. Immediately after starting the engine, it tells you where the wheels of the car are turned, so that you don’t accidentally move “to the side”.

But why are all the inscriptions in the car for Russia in English? I'm trying to change it, but the crossover only offers a choice of English, Korean and ... Turkish. Small, but still a minus. Perhaps, when the model will be assembled at a Russian enterprise... but do you think it will ever happen?

More brochures actively demonstrate the possibility of changing the color of the backlight ... what? I would love to change the red symbols near the control buttons. But it turns out that the color can only be changed at the rings inside the main instrument scales. Moreover, each time after stopping and starting the engine, you will have to make a choice again, since by default the color changes arbitrarily.

The 1.6-liter 128-horsepower crossover is right off the bat! Demonstrates unexpected agility at the start, in the first meters of movement. Strange, according to passport characteristic engine, the maximum torque falls at around 4600 rpm, and you barely screwed the engine up to 3000 rpm. Paradox? Perhaps yes - because at medium speeds the accelerating dynamics will seem insufficient to you, and only at high speeds the naturally aspirated engine opens up again.

Without prejudice, I will inform you that I found only two familiar branded Sanyeng parts in the XLV cabin. This is an ashtray-cup, as well as an automatic selector without a "safety" button, but with a miniature "tangent" on the side of the selector handle on the driver's side. This "tangent" is responsible for manual gear selection. The machine selector in our family Aktion Sports, released in 2011, looks exactly the same in essence (but a little differently in design). But he has the ability to change gears also with the "+" and "-" buttons on the steering wheel. In XLV way manual selection stages of a six-band automatic machine is the only one. And in both vehicles, manual shifting is only possible when the selector is moved from position D to position M.

From 60 to 80 km / h, the XLV accelerates in three seconds, or slightly more, which, in general, is not bad for the owner of a 1.6-liter engine. True, the first owners say that the dynamism of the model is felt only when there is no load, it is worth putting a couple of passengers - and that’s it, don’t expect an incendiary pace. Logically - the motor is "small". Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h, the company does not advertise, but I think that the novelty will not fit in ten seconds. And when accelerating from 80 to 120 km / h - it will fit, well, or almost ... Precisely because the engine has a kind of "second wind" at high speeds. But with a set of 120 km / h and further uniform movement, he begins to “breathe” calmer: the tachometer needle stops at 2500 rpm.

If the prices for the XLV version look competitive, then the "junior" Tivoli is definitely too expensive. In the initial Welcome package, which costs under a million rubles, it will offer you a six-speed “mechanics”, ABS, a single airbag, a package of electric windows and air conditioning. The second equipment, Original, has an automatic, heated front seats, an audio system and parking sensors, but for this, an impressive 269 thousand rubles are added to the million.

The machine shifts gears, as if counting the steps of a ladder. They are especially noticeable when reducing speed. This is an Aisin company unit, before Sanyengi was equipped with machines from other companies, including Australian (!) Production. I felt they ran smoother, even after years of use. And the engines of the models of this brand had "Mercedes" roots, which served as a significant trump card for buyers. The current 1.6-liter 128-horsepower engine is the company's own development. It is the only one in the range of Tivoli and Tivoli XLV offered on our market, the prospects for a 1.6-liter 115-horsepower diesel engine are still uncertain.

On a smooth highway, there are no complaints about the handling and directional stability of the crossover, nor about comfort. The car obeys the steering wheel well, making exactly three turns from lock to lock. The steering wheel seems at first unnecessarily light, but the study of the center console reveals the button for selecting the operating mode of the steering wheel. Naturally, it “becomes easier” in Comfort mode, and in Normal and Sport modes it “gets heavier”, moreover, noticeably. Of course, I constantly return to the Sport mode, which, however, I would like to "weight" additionally, that way twice.

Interestingly, the Tivoli XLV has another mode button - this time, so to speak, "general car". It is located to the left of the steering wheel, that is, quite far from the steering wheel mode button and has nothing to do with it. The suggested positions (in a circle) are Eco (no designation), as well as Power and Winter, the icons of which appear on the instrument panel. Power mode noticeably "spurs" the car, but makes it overall, that is, in almost the entire speed range, unnecessarily "nervous". So, for me, Eco mode is more pleasant. As for the Winter position, it will probably be necessary to look for its advantages in winter. Now I can only confirm that the crossover in this mode really starts off in second gear. On asphalt and other hard surfaces, this is practically useless, but on loose soils, such as sandy slopes, it can come in handy.

About fuel consumption. City figures are not particularly encouraging: you have to fork out to satisfy the 13-liter "appetite". But on a not very high-speed highway near Moscow, with a pace of movement that practically did not exceed 80-90 km / h, XLV was truly surprised: 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers! Included in the package test car included cruise control, but during our test trips, unfortunately, it was not possible to use it. Yes, the crossover should only be filled with 95 gasoline.

Suspension can be called rigid without ambiguity. MacPherson struts are installed at the front, and a semi-independent torsion beam is used at the rear on the front-wheel drive version. On smooth paved areas, you will enjoy comfort, but the suspension will not miss a single element of microrelief. She is especially “attentive” to “sharp” irregularities, to the point of unpleasantness. But on the other hand - minimal rolls in corners and impenetrability on large hillocks.

Brakes - tenacious, reliable. Perhaps the nature of the system is similar to the nature of the engine: when you first press the mechanisms, they work too abruptly, but with several braking in a row, everything seems to fall into place, and it turns out that the sharpness of the deceleration is not excessive, but reasonable, and it is not difficult to dose it. ABS operation tested in the sand and deserves high praise.

In the same place, I achieved the operation of the stabilization and anti-slip system. He directed the car to the sandy slope of the ravine, intertwined with pine roots. Reluctantly, with an effort, the crossover managed to take the barrier, it was only necessary not to give up, not to retreat, but to continue to keep traction at an even level. Electronics helped to do without all-wheel drive, and the car climbed the slope.

Moving in the opposite direction showed that the chosen obstacle was not an easy one. First, in the steepest place, the rear left wheel lifted off the ground. Secondly, the tires actively slid along the tree roots. The stabilization system and chirped. I tried to turn the car around, climb the slope again and try to go down on a steeper section. But the car, as they say, "did not go": it was not possible to take the rise again. Neither when the stabilization system is on, nor when it is turned off. Neither on a straight line, nor under the "gas". The winter mode did not help either, improving traction on the “bottoms”. All wheel drive would be great...

But so far, apparently, SsangYong dealers are focusing our attention on the front-wheel drive modifications of the XLV. Tivoli's elongated Comfort trim levels, Comfort +, Elegance and Luxury (all - only with a gun) is offered to customers for 1,439,000, 1,499,000, 1,589,000 and 1,699,000 rubles, respectively. The all-wheel drive version with the same basic units in the Elegance configuration is the only one, its price is 1,739,000 rubles.

In fact, SsangYong's pricing policy looks reasonable. It is not clear why we are definitely waiting for some kind of dumping from less common brands and models. Eminent, successful competitors on the market offer more all-wheel drive versions and thus win, however, front-wheel drive configurations comparable in terms of equipment cost about the same for all classmates. Decisive advantages Ssang Yong The Tivoli XLV doesn't, but its strengths are unexpected premium options (primarily the front seat ventilation system, the choice of driving modes, and steering wheel settings), plus an outstanding design. The latter, perhaps, should attract more newcomers to the ranks of SsangYong adherents. After all, now the cars of the brand are not pretentious and extravagant, but just a little more original. You no longer have to be ashamed of them, and the modesty of appearance has not adorned anyone for a long time. On the contrary, fresh solutions to attract the attention of others are in fashion.

At first glance, the SsangYong Tivoli draws attention. The car is cute and some of the design elements are quite original. The bold lines of the body, of course, have notes of Italian expression, but this is more about the front.

From the stern, the SsangYong Tivoli doesn't look so bright anymore. By the way, color is very important for this car. Bright colors are great for a compact crossover, they show all the lines of the body, but in dark and pastel colors its expression is lost.

Spectacular headlights are equipped with LED daytime running lights.

Knowing how to surprise

The interior of the debutant turned out to be more modern and interesting than that of his older brother Korando, but the Tivoli will cost less. The salon is pleasant, comfortable and thoughtful. There are many places for small things, roomy pockets in the doors, and even a tablet with a 10-inch screen is placed in a niche under the armrest.

Despite new interior, SsangYong is true to tradition: the button trip computer here on the console.

The 7-inch display pleased with a high-quality picture and sensible TomTom navigation, which worked well in Italy.

The implementation of the attachment for papers in the backs of the rear seats and on the side wall of the trunk also looks interesting, although they are definitely less practical than classic pockets: they won’t hold a large pack of press, and you won’t put small things there.

Replacing the pockets in the backs of the front seats with such elastic bands looks spectacular, but this is an impractical solution.

By the way, the Tivoli interior can be optionally diversified. Some of its elements are seats, inserts in door cards ah and torpedo - can be red or beige.

In expensive trim levels, the color of the edging of the scales can be changed. In addition to red, there is blue, yellow, cyan, white and black.

During the day, the readings on the heating system scale are almost indistinguishable. But the control buttons are large and comfortable.

Already in basic version Tivoli has a USB port for flash drives. Yes, and it is conveniently located - above the shelf where a mobile phone is placed.

But it was not without flaws. On the shiny plastic of the door cards and dashboard, every speck of dust and every fingerprint is visible. Here, less easily soiled, for example matte, plastic would be more appropriate. The climate control buttons are not very convenient - they are very tiny. But in the initial trim levels, where a conventional air conditioner is installed, the buttons are larger, designed for the finger of an adult man. But the impressions of convenient control were spoiled by a tiny temperature scale on LEDs - during the day it is uninformative.

The control of outdoor lighting and wipers on the steering column levers is very unusual ...

... however, it turned out to be quite convenient to use such a switch.

Despite compact dimensions car interior is surprisingly spacious. The secret is in the large wheelbase of 2600 mm - for example, in the same Korando it is only 50 mm longer, so the Tivoli is not much inferior to its older brother in terms of interior size. And, according to the manufacturer, it is one of the largest in the class. I liked the front seats with a long pillow and good lateral support. But the vision of the steering wheel, presented by SsangYong in Tivoli, I did not understand. The bulges below are inconvenient for active taxiing.

The front seats are tailored for Europeans, leg support is excellent.

With a trunk volume of 423 liters, this car is the champion among B-class crossovers, for most competitors this figure does not exceed 400 liters. Loading will be facilitated by an impressive doorway. Yes, and the door rises high here - it is noticeable that the engineers took into account the interests of tall Europeans.

The trunk is deep and roomy.

Our Tivoli will be equipped with a spare wheel.

Inaccessible arsenal

Off-road SsangYong Tivoli we will check already in Ukraine, because all the test cars were exclusively front-wheel drive. Although the car will certainly be available with a 4x4 transmission.

But one drawback that is typical for all Tivoli, regardless of the type of drive, can be noted even now - a clearance of 167 mm, which is too small for a crossover. Reduces cross-country ability and large front overhang, resulting in an approach angle of only 20.5 degrees. The ramp angle is also small - 17 degrees, but the exit angle is quite decent - 28 degrees.

Some novelties

Earlier in motor line SsangYong had no engines with a volume of less than 2 liters - together with Tivoli, two 1.6-liter power units made their debut at once

For SsangYong Tivoli, two completely new engines of the same volume are offered - 1.6 liters and a pair of gearboxes. The first is the e-XGi160 gasoline naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 128 hp. (160 Nm), the second e-XDi160 is a 115-horsepower turbodiesel (300 Nm). Any of them can be equipped with a 6-speed "mechanics" or "automatic" AISIN. Unfortunately, only the gasoline version of the car was provided for the first acquaintance, but we tested it with both types of gearboxes.

WITH gasoline engine Tivoli turned out to be quite lively, he willingly accelerated and showed reactions to the addition of gas even at a speed of over a hundred, but all this concerns the “mechanics” option. Paired with an "automatic" gasoline Tivoli is no longer so active. And I want to stop trying to go fast because of the loud, hysterical growl of the engine. He sorts through the gears slowly, but the moment of changing speed in the automatic transmission is comfortable and hardly noticeable. There are also manual mode with traditional SsangYong switching - using a tiny flag on the knob of the automatic transmission lever. This is not very convenient, but over time you get used to this feature.

The version with the manual gearbox was expected to be more economical. During the test, fuel consumption in combined cycle was 6.9 liters per 100 km, while Tivoli with automatic transmission required two liters more.

Three modes

Korean manufacturers are very fond of steering With different regimes work. This fashion did not bypass SsangYong either. Now in Tivoli, the electric amplifier has three programs - Comfort, Normal and Sport. But again, like other Korean brands, the information content of the management is not enough. Comfort is designed for parking speeds, everything is ok here, the steering wheel turns with minimal effort. At speed, there is practically no connection with the wheels. Sport - the other extreme: the steering becomes tight, but the effort is already very artificial. I liked it more normal mode, it is closest to the concept of informativeness.

Tivoli suspension varies by drive type. Front in all versions of the classic McPherson. Behind in a 2WD car torsion beam, but on a car with a 4x4 drive, a multi-link. Since all text machines were exclusively front-wheel drive, only one chassis was tested. And on Italian roads, which in places around Rome are not much better than Ukrainian ones, the suspension turned out to be very elastic.

On our roads there is a big risk of damaging the radiator, because the gap in the bumper is too large.

Driving comfort is also significantly affected by the dimension of the installed wheels and the height of the tire profile. So, the top versions of the crossover were presented with 18 discs and low profile tires 215/45. Basic machines and simpler equipment are equipped with 16-inch wheels and 205/60 tires. I was able to drive a Tivoli with both types of wheels. Note that the 18th is a little heavy for this car, the suspension is noisy, excessive rigidity is felt in the pits and potholes. On 16-wheel drives, the crossover, as we expected, was much more comfortable, it worked out bumps well, but even here you can’t call the running quiet.

All at once

With the advent of the SsangYong Tivoli, competition in the B-class compact crossover market will undoubtedly intensify. The Korean SUV looks like an amateur, but it is practical, roomy and well built.

SsangYong Tivoli, regardless of configuration, are equipped with seven airbags, including an airbag for the driver's knees. In the arsenal of active safety there is ESP with a system that reduces the risk of a car rollover.

Summary of "Autocentre"

Body and comfort
+ Despite compact dimensions car, the Tivoli interior turned out to be quite spacious. Behind the passenger of average height there is a huge supply of space above his head, and he is enough at his feet. Big trunk and a variety of places for small things. Liked the interior materials and build quality. Amateur design. There are some miscalculations in ergonomics - for example, tiny climate buttons and an uninformative air conditioner scale.
Powertrain and dynamics
+ Petrol version with a manual gearbox pleased with moderate fuel consumption. Weak indicators of geometric cross. Rigid suspension. Uninformative steering.
Finance and equipment
+ In expensive trim levels, there are “premium services” - seat ventilation, steering wheel heating. Already in the basic equipment, there are seven airbags and a switchable stability control system. Large selection of modifications, configurations and options. The car in Ukraine became available only this summer.

If earlier in our country over Korean cars laughed, today they are actively transplanted - seriously, no jokes. And this is not surprising, since the South Korean auto industry is developing rapidly and is already stepping on the heels of European, American and Japanese manufacturers. As evidence, one can new compact crossover SsangYong Tivoli, named after the Italian town of Tivoli. This name was not chosen by chance: in the features of the body of the novelty, the real Italian expression is really guessed! All the details about the Korean "SUV" that finally got to Russia - in our review!

Design

Tivoli looks bright enough, but all of its expression is most related to the front of the body. In front, there is a predatory look of head optics with LED daytime running lights, a two-tone bumper and a grille with a laconic design. The hood is encircled by an elegant chrome molding. From the side you can see door handles painted in body color (8 color options are available), and exterior mirrors with a built-in LED lamp, and on the “stern” there are original combined-type LED lights and fog optics.

Behind the "Asian" you recognize not immediately - except perhaps upon closer examination. Regular rims - steel 16-inch, tires - 205/60 R16. Unfortunately, the Russians have not yet been offered other options, which is an obvious omission on the part of the automaker - larger wheels are clearly suggesting here. In general, this is a completely modern urban crossover, in appearance whose originality is harmoniously combined with the ordinary. It is absolutely relevant on the roads. big city and due to its spaciousness it is suitable for long trips.

Design

At the heart of the "SUV" is a fairly reliable design: in front of it is an independent MacPherson spring suspension on wishbones, with stabilizer roll stability and telescopic shock absorbers, and a suspension with a torsion beam and hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers is installed at the rear. The steering mechanism is a rack and pinion with an electronic amplifier. Front and rear brakes - disc.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

Despite the fact that Tivoli was originally promised to be sold in the Russian Federation with all-wheel drive transmission, it is currently offered exclusively with front-wheel drive, making it suitable car mainly for the city and, at most, for light off-road, but not for serious cross-country driving. Moreover, the clearance is low: "according to the passport", the ground clearance is 167 mm, and in fact - even less. At the same time, the “Korean” boasts three different intelligent driving modes - Eco, Power and Winter (economical, powerful and winter). For operation in winter, heated seats of the first row and exterior mirrors are provided. heating windshield and the steering wheel, unfortunately, is not in any of the configurations. In addition, there is no state system Era-Glonass emergency alert, and it will not appear before 2019.

Comfort

According to SsangYong, the Tivoli's main audience is female. This is indicated not only bright appearance, but also the presence of numerous places for storage small items in the cabin, such as, for example, an open niche on the dashboard, which is ideal for a smartphone, cup holders in the rear armrest or paper pockets in the backs of the front seats. To connect mobile devices on the center console there are AUX / USB connectors, instead of climate control - a regular air conditioner. The audio control buttons are placed on a 3-spoke steering wheel, made in a sporty style. Behind the wheel, according to tradition, is a classic dashboard- 2 analog "wells" with a speedometer and tachometer, as well as a monochrome information display in the middle.

The build quality is decent, but the manufacturer went a little overboard with the silver-plated plastic. The mirrors in the sun visors are left without illumination, the seats are not adjustable in height, but they have a solid long cushion and excellent lateral support. There is enough free space on the first row, as well as on the second, and this despite the modest dimensions of the model. The whole trick lies in the 2600 mm wheelbase - the same SsangYong Korando it is only 50 mm longer, i.e. in terms of the size of the cabin, the Tivoli is not much inferior even to its older “brother”. And in general, the interior of the novelty is one of the most spacious in given class cars. The trunk of the crossover is far from small - 3 full-size bags will fit exactly. With the rear seats unfolded, it includes up to 423 hp. cargo, and when folded - even more. Loading height - approximately 80 cm. In the underground, a stowage is stored on a steel disk.

The body of the Tivoli consists of over 70% high-strength steels - of which about 40% is dedicated to high-strength low-alloy steels. For maximum protection the driver and passengers are strengthened in 10 key areas of the car, but despite this, safety is still not forte Korean model. In the crash tests of the European organization EuroNCAP, which took place at the end of 2016, the Tivoli received only 3 stars out of 5 possible, due to the low rating for frontal impact. Tests with optional equipment have raised the rating to 4 stars. By the way, equipment Russian version in terms of safety, not rich: it includes only one airbag (driver), anti-lock brake system(ABS), brake force distribution (EBD), Isofix mounts for child car seats three-point harnesses and rear parking sensors. Electronic stabilization system (ESP) is not provided.

Given the fact that Tivoli still belongs to the medium-budget price category, you can not expect supernatural multimedia functions from it. In the basic version, there is no audio equipment, but the more expensive version has it - we are talking about an audio system with support for MP3 and Bluetooth protocol, six speakers, steering wheel control buttons and AUX / USB inputs for connecting gadgets. The sound quality is average.

The appearance on sale of SsangYong Tivoli aroused great interest among many motorists, because this model was the first compact crossover released in Korea. The design of the car, I must say, turned out to be very original due to the use of a huge amount of faceted metal and a small glazing area. Previously, the names of the cars of this manufacturer consisted of two words, but the novelty opened a new era of names and models of the company. Auto Tivoli is named after a small Italian town. Whether the crossover will be able to get the same wide popularity as other SsangYong models, we will consider on a test drive.

Tivoli: be different!

The design of the SsangYong Tivoli is designed for buyers who want to stand out in the city traffic. Motto marketing company Tivoli sounds like “Be Different!”. The car turned out to be really original, with spectacular curves of the rear fenders and lights located high on them. Solid bumper, narrow grilles, large wheel arches- all this creates a feeling of reliability. The body of the car turned out to be strong as a man. However, the safety of this car lies not only in the structure of the body. Inside there are seven airbags, one of which is designed to protect the driver's knees. The level of active and passive safety models allows the manufacturer to count on at least a four-star crash test Euro NCAP. According to the engineers, braking distances at a speed of one hundred kilometers per hour is only 41 meters. Provide a quick stop disc brakes and an electronic assistant that presses the brake pedal.

The interior designers did a great job. Everything inside the SsangYong Tivoli is laid out sensibly and efficiently. The cabin feels cozy, provided by the front seats with all the necessary physiological curves and excellent lateral support. The developers added wide armrests to comfortable chairs, a heated D-shaped steering wheel with height adjustment and variable effort. rear seats tilt can be adjusted. In stylish and modern interior a lot of soft pads were used, which you will not find in other representatives of this class of cars. The design of the Ssang Yong Tivoli turned out to be out of class expensive and serious. The car has HDMI and USB ports, a seven-inch display, which serves to display images from rear-view cameras, a smartphone desktop or video from a flash drive. In-vehicle comfort features include dual zone climate control and ventilation of the driver's seat. Importantly, the SUV has a roomy 423-liter trunk.

To date, Tivoli is equipped only with front-wheel drive and a 1.6-liter gasoline unit that produces 128 horses. Probably going into production soon diesel version car with all-wheel drive. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. If this model is unremarkable on the mechanics, the Aisin automatic is designed to impress with its tough and clear shifting system. Front suspension, like most modern models, installed MacPherson . The front-wheel drive SsangYong Tivoli has a torsion beam at the rear, which is distinguished by a simple and reliable design. The noise reduction in this model is quite decent: the noise from the engine and other road users in the city is almost inaudible. However, having accelerated the engine to 2.5 thousand revolutions, the power of the motor can not only be felt, but also heard.
