Where do Kia cars for Russia and other countries. Kia plant in Russia or where Kia models are assembled Kia plant in South Korea

25.07.2019

Numerous international studies show that the budget passenger car Kia Rio from the Korean automobile giant Kia is today the best-selling and, accordingly, produced car on the planet, and the country of origin may be different. If so many copies of this model have been produced, then a natural question arises: where is the popular “Korean” produced? It is no secret to anyone that if there is an increased demand for the Kia Rio, then the production facilities must be able to satisfy it.

The Korean manufacturer is popular all over the world thanks to its balanced and practical models, which provided it with an enviable rating in the vastness of the global automotive field. About 5 thousand official representative offices are scattered around the world, selling the offspring of Korean auto industry more than 190 countries. Many are interested in the question: the manufacturer is the country of the machine.

Where on the planet is Rio assembled?

After Kia's reunion with another Korean giant, the Hyundai Motor Group, there has been a significant increase in production points directly assembling popular Rio models, and now several places where the car is assembled. If there is no assembly plant in a particular territory, then the delivery of machines is carried out from a neighboring country where they are produced. Thus, it is possible to reduce the cost of logistics services, which allows the manufacturer to offer the most affordable price tag for the Kia Rio.

The company does not have a huge number of assembly manufactories, that is, places where cars are assembled, but the performance of existing production entities can amaze with its indicator. In 2016 alone, 2.746 million cars were produced, of which 470 thousand units were sold to consumers. And this is only the third generation Rio. So let's decide what country Rio has.

The factories where the models are produced are located in the territories of many states.

  1. 5 factories where cars are assembled are located in South Korea itself.
  2. 2 factories operate in Russia and China.
  3. Each assembly plant has territories:
  • USA and India;
  • Ecuador and Ukraine;
  • Philippines and Turkey;
  • Slovakia and Indonesia.

A little about the aspects of the Russian production of Kia

In the domestic space, Korean models began to be assembled in the mid-2000s at the facilities of the IzhAvto enterprise. But by 2010 this production ceased its activities. After another year, the assembly was resumed, although not all models. Today, Kia Rio is not assembled at these facilities.

At present, the assembly baton was intercepted by St. Petersburg along with Kaliningrad, where conveyor production popular "Korean" Kia Rio in the third generation. A feature of these industries is the production of only template cars, characterized by a large series.

This means that these manufacturers do not have the right to make any changes to the approved design, unlike their American partners. In the USA, factories go towards their client and equip the car with the options they have chosen, even if they are not present in the standard configuration.

The Kaliningrad enterprise is not involved in the distribution process finished cars because it is the prerogative of the company Kia Motors Rus, which has two subsidiaries: SoKia and Avtotor. When buying a car, the client enters into a contractual relationship with one of these entities. It is with Avtotor that the Korean automotive giant established a long-term partnership.

Assembly production here started back in 1996. Popular models for that period began to roll off the assembly line: the Sportage crossover and a couple of cars - Avella and Clarus.

In 2012, the production complex showed its readiness to mobilize for a large-scale production, which implies the appearance of new models on the conveyor. Today, the company is busy assembling six Kia Rio models.

The car, which is assembled at a domestic enterprise, has significant differences from analogues produced in other states. For example, "Rio" in the third generation will please with full adaptation to the influence of domestic climatic and road conditions. For these purposes, specialized equipment has been developed.

The St. Petersburg plant was built in a short time: from July 2008, the construction was laid, and by September 2010, the enterprise was functioning with full dedication. At first, only " Hyundai Solaris”, and already in 2011, the production of KIA Rio began.

How is the assembly process carried out in Russia?

Both at the Kaliningrad enterprise, where Rio is assembled, and at a similar plant in St. Petersburg, the assembly process has identical technology. Upon release, each future car will have to go through 4 workshops, namely:

  • stamping of body components;
  • welding cycles (direct body assembly is performed);
  • painting (application of protective and ground layers, painting, varnishing with subsequent polishing);
  • final assembly (assuming completion with the required list of nodes).

In the manufacture of body panels, the main raw material is special kind steel "Hyundai-Hysco", which has a zinc coating. Before the welding process, the parts are subjected to special control to ensure that their quality conditions comply with regulatory requirements.

The movement of sets of blanks from the stamping shop to the zone of their welding is carried out by means of a rail track. Further, the nodes are fastened into a single body using robotic welding manipulators

Painting is the longest and most meticulous procedure. In addition to the previously mentioned stages of body coating, the parts are thoroughly cleaned and then dried. This ensures further uniform application of water enamel. Drying of body components is carried out in specially designed Euro dryers.

In the area of the assembly shop future car KIA Rio is equipped with the necessary units and accessories.

Summing up

Regardless of which country Rio is the manufacturer, these are always high-quality, worthy budget cars. After the appearance of information about the intentions of the Korean giant to assemble its models, including the KIA Rio at the facilities of the enterprise of the Northern capital, most skeptics with a special degree of indignation expressed their opinion about the unviability of this program. This meant the risk of disappointment from the inconsistency of the quality of Russian products with the level of world manufacturers.

However, the five-year history of the existence of the plant where cars are produced proves the opposite - the company consistently demonstrates quality indicators in work, constantly increasing the volume of car production.

Kia Sorento ;

Issuing company Vehicle«KiaMotors» calculates its existence since 1944. Its headquarters settled in the capital of South Korea - Seoul.

What was at the very beginning?

Like many now well-known auto giants, the KIA concern that is functioning today was called differently, namely KyungSungPrecisionIndustry.

In those days, only a part of the population of a poor country could afford to travel even on two-wheeled non-motorized vehicles.

Bicycles were not cheap, as they were bought abroad. Like any other technique, sometimes bicycles break down. Troubleshooting required new parts. The production of such spare parts and the newly-minted company began to deal with. Moreover, at first, workers made parts and assembled individual units manually.

It seems that since its inception (05/15/1944) the company has been striving for new achievements. This is evidenced by the combination of words included in the name, “precision industry”. In Russian, it means the concept of "precision engineering".

The Korean population was in dire need of two-wheeled vehicles. Therefore, the leadership of KyungSungPrecisionIndustry set out to establish the production of not only bicycle parts, but finished products.

The first completely Korean bicycles appeared after 2 whole years. The model was called - "Samcholli-ho". Production did not develop as fast as we would like.

When hostilities began in Korea, there was a danger of losing production capacity. For this reason, it was decided to transfer the plant to a more stable area. So Kyungsung PrecisionIndustry moved to Busan.

Two, three, four wheels

A huge technological breakthrough can be considered a stable production of two-wheeled bicycles in South Korea. After all, then, in 1952, the war between neighboring states had not yet ended.

Despite the fact that the country in the middle of the last century was one of the poorest in Asia, the plant worked perfectly, several new models appeared. By the name of one of them, the company itself began to be called. Now the corporate name has become: "KIAIndustrialCompany".

2 years after the end of the war, more precisely in 1955, the company acquired another plant. This time the enterprise started working in Shaikhung.

The demand for cheap domestic bicycle equipment was huge. But the company's management did not want to be limited to small things, they decided to release a new one for themselves motor products. Motor scooters began to appear already in 1957. A little later, in 1961, the first Korean motorcycle of the S-100 brand came off the KIA conveyors. In addition, there were motorized carriages, and even trucks. However, unlike modern ones, Korean K-360 trucks, produced by KIA until 1973, had only three wheels.

The ambitious company was steadily moving forward. High-quality and inexpensive bicycles began to be delivered abroad, including in the USA. A few years later, four-wheeled vehicles appeared. This was the TitaniBoxer truck. For many years it has been synonymous with quality and reliability.

Cooperation of KIA Industrial Company with Japanese Mazda began with the signing in 1972 of the relevant agreement. The Land of the Rising Sun shared its design developments. The first Korean cars were made exclusively on a Japanese basis.

One of four

In 1972, the leadership of South Korea decided to license the production of cars. Since then, only four companies have been granted the right to assemble vehicles. Kia Industrial Company was one of these four lucky ones.

The government of the country was not mistaken in its choice. Inspired by high confidence KIA specialists it took only a few months to design the very first Korean gasoline-powered car.

This victory was the impetus for further achievements. It took the KIA team two years to create the first passenger car. It doesn't matter that the Korean passenger car was created on the basis of Mazda. The main thing is that she left the Korean factory in Sohari.

Brisa, as the passenger car was called, was small in size. Its motor was just as small - with a volume of only 800 "cubes". economical car was in demand not only in Korea. Didn't give up

Kia Brisa and foreign buyers.

These models were the first cars delivered abroad. And, although the volume of delivery was small (a little more than two dozen copies) and the country - the buyer was not very solid (Qatar), a start was made.

In the same period of time, the company expanded significantly, forming affiliated companies:
- KiaMachineToolLtd;
- Kia Service Corp.

The most significant event was the major acquisition of KIA. She took over a manufacturing company. trucks mobiles– AsiaMotors.

Since 1976, the list of manufactured vehicles has been replenished:
- heavy trucks;
-medium trucks;
- army all-terrain vehicles.

Since 1978, diesel engines have been installed on a number of KIA vehicles. It should be noted that such motors were developed by KiaIndustrialCompany specialists.

The high quality of its products and the growing popularity allowed the company to obtain the exclusive right to manufacture two types of sedans for Korean citizens:
- Fiat 132 and
- Peugeot 604.

By 1981, the company was producing four stamps passenger cars. Since that time, their production has ceased. KIA took the direction of manufacturing commercial vehicles family "Bongo", which included:
- minibus;
- farm pickup;
- light truck.

In 1983, the Ceres truck was added to the lineup.

Foreign co-owners of the company

For rapid development and gaining a "place in the sun" in the international auto arena own forces Koreans were clearly not enough. When part of the shares were transferred into the hands of foreigners, things went much faster.

Eight percent went to the Japanese corporation Mazda and ten to the American Ford. Since that time, the company has again "turned its face" to passenger cars.

Foreign partners helped to create and organize the work of a special center in which research and design of new models of motor vehicles were carried out. After the first center, the second and the third ones were opened… One of the similar KIA organizations settled in Japan.

An outstanding achievement of the corporation is the release on the basis of the Mazda 121 of the small car "Pride" in 1987. This model is known to some motorists under a different name - "Festiva".

The small car was so good, reliable, costing so little that even today its slightly modified copies roam the planet. The total number of small cars produced at KIA factories is about two million pieces.

The company developed not only car factories and design centers. She had her own metallurgical enterprise. In addition, as a mass of reputable concerns, KIA created its own sports team, which consisted of basketball players.

At the next stage, more powerful cars. For example, the Capita1 had a one and a half liter engine, and the Concord sedan had a full two liters.

In 1988, Kia celebrated the production of its first million passenger cars. The previously taken "commercial" direction is also not forgotten: trucks of the "Trade" and "Rhino" models are assembled at the factories. A small bus "Besta" appears.

The KiaIndustrialCompany outgrew itself and in 1990 became a corporation - KIA MotorsCorporation. At the same time, another novelty was developed 1.5 DOHC. This engine can be seen on many cars KIA brands.

The American co-owners of the corporation helped open a KIA representative office in the United States in 1992.

KIA products appeared on European markets in about a year. Then, noticed by representatives of the "old world" at the motor show in Seoul "Sephia", was able to appear before sophisticated Europeans.

Good luck accompanied the new SUV. It took almost a decade to develop the compact "Sportage". But the result is worth the effort.

When "Avella" entered the auto arena, the successor famous models"Credos" and "Pride", the Korean corporation was accepted by the global community of automakers.

The spring of 1995 was marked by the fact that the millionth car of the company was sent for export. In his country KIA became one of the three largest automakers and far from the last in the world car markets.

Crisis and new achievements

Nothing is stable in our world. The 1997 crisis that swept Asian countries led to the bankruptcy of a recently prosperous company. The company was put up for sale.

There were a lot of people who wanted to buy finished production. Among them stood out concern Ford. However, he was not destined to take possession of the property of KIA. Hyundai came to the aid of the “brother”.

KIA is widely known and thrives these days. Its products are in demand all over the world. The same models are sold in different countries under different names. The only difference is in the configuration.

The most popular brands in the class of subcompact cars are:
- Vista;
- Pride;
- Rio.

The latter in 2003 won the world ice racing championship.

Of the "more solid" cars, the Cerato sedan stands out. This model was awarded the Canadian Association of Journalists.

Luxury sedans: "Opirus" and "Magentis" represent the "business class". In the United States, Magentis is known to customers as Optima.

Among the SUVs, the most popular are: the Sorento, which is distinguished by the elegance of its lines, and the Sportage, whose merit is in amazing compactness.

The corporation has not abandoned the production of commercial vehicles either. Trucks, special vehicles and buses have a wide range. In addition, the so-called "family" minivans of the Carnival brand are leaving the KIA conveyors.

In 2002, the corporation produced the ten millionth car. This event was celebrated with a befitting solid firm scale.

Every year, more than 650,000 cars leave the KIA workshops. They are sold in one hundred and seventy countries of the world. Russia is no exception. Korean cars are especially popular among the middle class. If you prefer Japanese automotive manufacturers, we advise you to visit the salon

One of the main parameters that buyers of a new car are trying to evaluate today is the place of assembly. It often turns out that the car is German or Japanese brand assembled in Russia or in another country with not too high build quality. This makes the credibility of the car limited, so it is important to know where the car was assembled before going to a car dealership to get acquainted with it. Sometimes potential buyers refuse to purchase a car after learning that the country of the brand and assembly are two different states. However, such news no longer frightens automotive market specialists, because manufacturers often look for ways to reduce the cost of manufacturing vehicles.

But for the buyer, the news that his expensive car was brought from a Chinese factory, for example, will not be too joyful. Today we will talk about where KIA is assembled, and also consider the modern range of this brand. Korean company KIA not so long ago, it began to actively develop in all world markets and provide customers with high quality transport. The last ten years have brought the brand to a very high level, today Korean cars are ready to compete with any global manufacturer.

KIA assembly - the main plants of the company and cars of the Russian market

KIA Corporation is part of the group Hyundai companies Group, but is a separate brand and an independent part of the concern. However, in recent years, the cooperation of these companies in terms of the development of technology has been especially noticeable. For machines of the same class, one base, one engine and transmission are used. However, the KIA brand has managed to retain its design and lineup identity.

Today the company owns full-fledged automobile factories in Korea, India, China, Turkey and the USA. In almost all countries where the brand's cars are sold, there is a subassembly of cars, which reduces their cost in local markets. For example, in Russia the corporation's assembly partners are IZH-Avto and Avtotor. Today, almost the entire model range of the company is produced in Kaliningrad, and Russian-assembled KIA cars are distinguished by the following features:

  • quite high-quality production with the necessary reliability checks and certifications;
  • the absence of factory blunders, which are a tradition of Russian assembly plants for other brands;
  • the use of Korean units, fully assembled and assembled at one of the company's five factories in South Korea;
  • adaptation of almost the entire model range under Russian conditions operation of transport;
  • the presence of serious modifications for some models that were developed for Russia.

As a vivid example of a car designed for our operating conditions, we can cite a very successful project of the company - a new generation of KIA Rio. Great design And good technique without saving on important components, it made the car as attractive as possible in all respects. For these reasons, the company received almost 9% of the market of all foreign cars in Russia at the end of 2014.

But the competition in Koreans is quite big, because today the company has lost most of its developments. The popularity of models was especially negatively affected by a serious rise in prices associated with currency fluctuations in early 2015. From that moment on, the company's lineup practically ceased to develop, and the popularity of cars began to noticeably decline. However, some models remain popular today.

Lineup and brief description of KIA cars in Russia

The corporation's cars are presented in a fairly large assortment, despite the unfulfilled plan to update the lineup this year. The corporation offers solutions for both urban travel and off-road conquest. Among the general strengths companies should be named good design, high quality and travel comfort. But this is only the first impression of most of the manufacturer's machines.

Each model from the assortment of the Korean company has its own individual characteristics:

  • Picanto - a hatchback baby with a bright design, a stylish interior for city trips, the car is regarded as a good offer for the fair sex;
  • Rio is one of the company's most popular models, a compact sedan and hatchback with excellent individual external characteristics and hardy equipment for Russian conditions;
  • Cee "d is a successful project of the company, present in hatchback, station wagon and coupe bodies, comfortable and spacious car with good technical characteristics;
  • Cerato is a traditional C-class sedan with good handling and a high level of equipment, very reliable technology and decent performance for daily use;
  • Optima is one of the inexpensive premium sedans with a bright appearance, a large interior and a very productive engine, attractive in all aspects, including the price;
  • Quoris is truly a premium machine with great salon, high quality equipment and excellent finishing materials, a car for business and executive class;
  • Venga - a small family minivan with an attractive price, but not too spacious interior, popular in European countries due to its versatility;
  • Soul - a small urban crossover with an unusual appearance, memorable design features and a good spacious interior, a car for smooth trips;
  • The Sportage is a compact SUV completely reborn in a new generation with authentic design and outstanding engines, respect for their bold appearance;
  • Sorento is a large crossover with good technology and impressive dimensions, in 2015 the next generation update is expected with a complete change in exterior details;
  • Mohave is an SUV with very attractive characteristics, but not too affordable cost, which hinders its popularity in our country.

In general, the manufacturer's model range is quite wide, but some cars need updates. For this and the coming year, the company has planned a lot of changes in a number of models, but it is unlikely that they will be implemented all of them. Today, the company is experiencing a slight decline in popularity, because many models will be delayed, their entry into the market will be delayed for indefinite term. We offer you to see a small test drive of a small and popular sedan KIA Rio:

Summing up

It's hard to say what situation you're in today. Korean manufacturer, and whether it is worth expecting certain new products from him in soon. Nevertheless, salons KIA in Russia are full of offers, because the company continues to supply and assemble vehicles in our country. Despite the technical rapprochement with the parent concern Hyundai, KIA cars have been able to maintain their uniqueness and in many ways surpass the products of the owner corporation.

In today's market, the Korean company KIA occupies far last place in the ratings and offers very high quality and modern cars. Given the active expansion of the brand to the US market, we can assume that in the near future model line there will be new models that will be available for the Russian market. How do you feel about cars from South Korea, including the KIA brand?

When buying a car, one of the key criteria is the place of its assembly. Many parameters depend on this - the level of adaptation to local roads, quality and even specifications TS.

With increasing demand, large manufacturers are opening factories in many countries around the world.

The South Korean company KIA, which has a wide geography of factories, is no exception.

Where are these cars manufactured? Where do cars come from to the Russian market?

General information about KIA

Kia Motors Corporation is a South Korean brand, which is the 2nd largest in South Korea and one of the ten largest companies in the world.

The year of foundation is considered to be 1944, when the new enterprise became part of the Kia Group. The full spin-off into an individual unit took place in 2003.

At first, the company was called KyungSung Precision Industry, and only since 1951 it was renamed KIA Industries.

The initial line of work of the newly created structure is the manufacture of two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles and bicycles).

Only since the 70s of the last century, the production of cars and trucks started. In less than 20 years of activity, the millionth car rolled off the assembly line.

In 1998, the company was affected by the financial crisis associated with a decrease in consumer ability and a drop in sales.

During the same period, Kia lost its independence and was acquired by another manufacturer, Hyundai. A year after the merger, it formed Hyundai Kia Automotive Group.

The turning point was 2006, when Peter Schreyer, a German designer involved in the development of many models from manufacturers such as Volkswagen and Audi, got a job at Kia Motors.

In just four years (from 2008 to 2011), Kia's vehicle sales jumped 81 percent, with total sales of 2.5 million vehicles a year.

Today, KIA continues to gain momentum, offering the world more and more new models.

With the rise in popularity KIA cars company representatives were forced to expand production. So, since 2005, Spectra models have been produced in Russia at the IzhAvto plant, since 2006 - Rio, and after some time - Sorento.

Already by 2010, the production process of cars at this plant was stopped, but a few months later the plant resumed work for a couple of months to produce a small batch of Sorento and Spectra in order to cover IzhAvto's current obligations to the South Korean brand.

Another assembly site is Avtotor (Kaliningrad), where following models KIA - Sid, Sportage, Soul, Sorento, Cerate, Venga and others.

Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad.

The mentioned companies were engaged only in production, and KIA Motors performed distribution tasks.

Thanks to the well-established production, for several years, starting from 2010, the KIA brand has been the leader in sales in the Russian Federation among foreign cars.

Since 2011, the production of Kia Rio cars, optimized for local operating conditions, has started in St. Petersburg.

The car was based on the platforms of two well-known cars from the Hyundai company (i20 and Solaris).

Already the first years showed the success of KIA Rio on Russian market. In 2014, sales of this model exceeded 10,000 units every year.

In which countries and where is Kia Sportage 2016 assembled, factories in Russia

Automobile kia sportage, due to its characteristics, is in great demand in Russia. One of the factors is the presence of a plant on the territory of the Russian Federation, which produces cars adapted to more stringent operating conditions.

Initially KIA Sportage were assembled at German factories, after which a large share of the production "migrated" to South Korea, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Slovakia and Russia.

Indonesian-made cars do not reach the Russian market, but domestic motorists have a chance to buy a Sportage recent years release, produced in Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Russia and Korea.

To find out in which country the car was assembled, just look at (located on the windshield).

The first letters can be:

  • KNE - South Korean production;
  • XWE - car made in Russia;
  • U5Y - Slovak assembly.

Production in Slovakia began in 2000. The plant in Zilina covers an area of 223 hectares, and the number of employees exceeds 3,000 people. The total output is 300 thousand cars annually.

Kia Sportage is also produced in Russia, at a plant in Kaliningrad.

When buying a car, you should know that the main assembly process of the KIA Sportage takes place in Slovakia, after which the car is disassembled into car kits and sent to the Russian Federation for SKD assembly.

For comparison, when assembling a car in Slovakia, 2000 operations are performed, and the Russian Federation - 20.

But such limited participation is not in vain, and buyers have serious complaints about the build quality.

Most often, complaints relate to the adjustment of doors that do not open and close well. By the way, Korean assembly machines do not have such defects.

Another problem of domestic KIA variant Sportage - incomplete charging of the air conditioner and excessive bending of one of the tubes in the refrigerant circuit.

For this reason, additional noise may appear during the operation of the air conditioner, which is eliminated under warranty.

In which countries and where is the Sorento assembled, factories in Russia

The car is assembled in many countries - in Turkey, South Korea, Slovakia and Russia.

By the way, in Russia Kia Sorento has been produced since 2013, and the main place of manufacture is the Avtotor plant (Kaliningrad).

Rumor has it that AvtoVAZ will eventually produce the model, but so far these are just dreams.

The main production is located in South Korea, but these cars reach Russia in limited quantities (via Vladivostok). In most regions, cars from the Avtotor plant predominate.

There are many discussions regarding the quality of the Russian assembly of KIA Sorento. When compared with models from Turkey, Russian version nothing worse.

This is easy to explain, because BMW cars are produced at the same facilities, the quality of which is controlled extremely strictly.

The Russian assembly of KIA Sorento is characterized by a number of other features:

  • All spare parts in the production process are supplied from Korea;
  • Body rolling in the manufacturing process is under strict control;
  • Employees for serious misconduct may lose their jobs. In addition, employees regularly attend refresher courses;
  • The conveyor is fully automatic. At the same time, the quality of each part is necessarily checked.

In which countries and where is Sid assembled, factories in Russia

Auto KIA Ceed\'s is positioned as a car for Europe. At the same time, the model replaced the already outdated cerate.

Kia Sid cars are produced in many countries. The main supplier for Europe is a plant in Slovakia (the city of Zilina).

KIA Ceed\'s enters the CIS market from Kazakhstan (the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk). The needs of the inhabitants of the Russian Federation are covered by the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant.

It should be noted that initially KIA model Sid has been targeting the European market. That is why the main focus is on large plant located in Slovakia.

The process of preparation for production and the release itself took place in several stages:

  • In May 2006, the Slovak plant began work;
  • In December 2007, the production line officially opened. In addition to the machines themselves, transmissions and motors are produced;
  • In October 2008, the 100,000th Kia car Ceed\'s.

After some time in Kaliningrad (at the Avtotor plant) it was possible to establish a SKD assembly.

A feature of this plant is a great experience in the production and assembly of many other brands of cars - BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Opel and others. The shop where KIA Ceed's is made today used to make Chevrolets.

Special attention when choosing a machine is given to the build quality. As for the KIA Sid cars made in the Russian Federation, there are no serious complaints here. Each car after production undergoes additional checks and tests.

At the same time, the company's administration personally monitors quality control and is directly responsible to the leaders of the concern.

Since the beginning of the assembly of KIA Ceed \'s at the plant in Kaliningrad, one of the employees was a representative of the Slovak plant.

At the same time, it is no secret that the cars “originally” from Slovakia are of the highest quality, because they are produced for the most part for the Russian market.

Since 2010, Avtotor has launched the production of a new line of cars. Externally, the model has not changed much, but some changes still occurred.

The new KIA Ceed\'s has a stability control system, cruise control and air conditioning with two zones of operation. In addition, the number of airbags has grown to ten.

As mentioned above, large-scale assembly is underway in Kaliningrad (including for Kia Sid). The main work is carried out in Slovakia, from where practically finished cars come to the Russian Federation.

At the Kaliningrad plant, a motor, chairs, wheels and rear end salon.

The main task for manufacturers is to reduce taxation costs, production costs and the final price for consumers in this way.

In which countries and where is Rio assembled, factories in Russia

The issue of machine assembly and its quality deserves special attention. So, KIA Rio has been on sale since 2000, including in Russia.

Initially, the assembly took place in South Korea (which is where the cars came from to the domestic market). KIA Rio of the Russian assembly appeared only in 2005.

The IzhAvto plant, which worked for only five years, took up the creation of the model. When production was restarted in 2011 (for the “additional release” of some models), KIA Rio was no longer assembled.

There are also facilities for the production of KIA cars in Kaliningrad, but due to the lack of the necessary equipment for the production of the model, the process of producing Rio at Avtotor was short-lived.

Since 2011, KIA Rio has been assembled at a new plant in St. Petersburg. At the same time, the Russian version of the car was significantly different from those versions that were sold in Europe.

The only similarity is appearance, and the rest of the car was redesigned for use on Russian roads.

In addition to Russia, Kia Rio is produced in many parts of the world. The main capacities are concentrated in South Korea, where there are five factories. In addition, the machines were produced in the following countries - Ukraine, Turkey, India, China, Indonesia and others.

In the Russian Federation and China there is only one Rio assembly shop. In the USA, the model has been produced since 2009, and in Slovakia since 2006.

As for the quality of the Russian assembly, here the main complaints relate to the quality of the screw pull and the uneven gaps.

In addition, for the Russian Kia version Rio is characterized by the presence of heat shrink or electrical tape in certain areas of the wiring.

Sometimes complaints are received plastic panels(there is a marriage) and excessive creaking of the seat backs. In addition, domestically assembled KIA Rio has problems with sound insulation.

Many car owners have to do.

In which countries and where is Optima assembled, factories in Russia

Another noteworthy model is KIA Magentis, known in Russia as Optima.

The production of this KIA model started in 2000. The first generation cars were sold under the name Optima, but in 2002 the Canadian and European market received a car with a new name - KIA Magentis.

In the South Korean market, second-generation cars had other “names” - K5 and Lotze.

The third generation of cars has been produced since 2010, and it was from this period that KIA Optima received worldwide recognition.

Since 2010, Kia Spectra has been assembled in Izhevsk, the quality of which was very decent. So, after some time, the release of another model was launched -.

There is an opinion that these cars are produced only in South Korea. But this is a misconception. This state of affairs took place until 2014. Now the car is assembled not only in the Russian Federation, but also in the USA.

There are no European factories that would produce KIA Optima, because South Korean capacities are enough to cover current requests.

In Russia, KIA Optima is produced at Avtotor (Kaliningrad). The plant has a well-established production and a wide staff of experienced employees.

As with other models, the emphasis is on SKD. At the same time, complete units come from the territory of South Korea.

The key point for many car owners is build quality. Here it is worth highlighting the following points:

  • In Russia, the car is assembled from large units that are debugged and tested;
  • The quality of ready-made transport is closely monitored, which nullifies the appearance of marriage on the market;
  • In the USA (Georgia) KIA Optima is produced for domestic consumption. In this case, the assembly scheme is the same as in the Russian Federation. If we compare the final result, there is almost no difference. The only thing that differs is the packaging.

In which countries and where is Cerato assembled, factories in Russia

The KIA Cerato model is a worthy representative of the South Korean brand. The car belongs to the category of the middle class, was first introduced in 2004.

Cerato 2nd generation appeared four years later, in 2008. The third generation - in 2009. Since the appearance of the new model, the geography of production has gradually expanded.

The car was produced in India, Iran, Ecuador, USA, Russia, Ukraine and a number of other countries.

As for the KIA Cerato, the first and second generation of cars were produced in South Korea, and since 2006 - in the USA. Since 2009, when the 3rd generation cerate appeared.

At the same time, the manufacture was entrusted to a number of other countries (including Russia).

The Asia Auto plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk (Kazakhstan) joined the work, where SCD assembly was carried out.

The bottom line was that the factory received ready-made components that were assembled within a few hours by the factory workers.

In Russia, the production of KIA Cerato is carried out by the Avtotor plant located in Kaliningrad. Previously, only large-scale assembly took place, but since 2014 a full cycle has been established.

In which countries and where is Soul collected, factories in Russia

Model KIA Soul- a compact mini-SUV, the first sales of which in the South Korean market began in 2008. It was then that the car was presented at the Paris Motor Show.

Interestingly, the car does not fit into any particular class, but most often the Soul refers specifically to the mini-SUV.

The main feature of the model is a high level of comfort for passengers and a huge trunk, which becomes even larger when the seats are folded down.

IN Europe KIA Swale appeared only in February 2009, and in the US - since April.

For the Russian consumer, KIA Soul is assembled at three plants:

  • In Kaliningrad - "Avtotor";
  • In Kazakhstan - "Asia Auto";
  • In South Korea.

There is information that the KIA Soul is also being assembled in China, with which Russia has long established a close partnership. Cars from China are exported to many parts of the world, including Russia.

Are there any build differences? In Kaliningrad, there is a "screwdriver" production, when factory workers assemble ready-made units. Therefore, the quality finished machines does not depend much on the place of production.

In addition, ready-made units also come to China and Kazakhstan, so finding differences in assembly is a difficult task. All that can differ is only the equipment.

Results

As can be seen from the article, KIA cars have a very wide geography of production.

The Russian market gets mainly cars from St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Kazakhstan, South Korea and China. Much depends on the model and current demand.

Of course, prominent representative of this "golden series" is Kia Rio. Experienced car enthusiasts know that this model considered one of the most practical and stylish cars developed using the latest technology.

However, despite the general assembly concept, the models assembled at different factories differ quite noticeably from each other. Therefore, for a more objective assessment of the Kia Rio, it is important to know at which plant it is produced.

In today's article, we will talk about the most powerful factories of the Korean company Kia, which assemble the Rio model.

The most powerful plants of the Kia concern

For quite a long time, the Korean company Kia has set itself a grandiose goal - to win automotive markets Europe, Asia and America. It should be noted that the concern is confidently moving towards the fulfillment of the task.

It is worth noting the seven main factories of Kia, which are located around the world.

It is important to remember that depending on the plant where Rio is made, the price of a car can be significantly lower than a model assembled at the main plant in Korea. This is due to the high costs of transportation to remote areas.

The most powerful branches of the Korean company are:

  • a South Korean plant in the city of Kwangmen, which is considered the main and most powerful plant of the concern;
  • a Chinese factory in Yancheng, which produces Rio mainly for the local market. If we recall the population of China, we can conclude that this market is very promising in terms of sales;
  • the Ecuadorian Kia plant, which is responsible for supplying the Rio model to the markets of South America;
  • an Indonesian plant that assembles the Kia Rio for the Southeast Asian market;
  • relatively new plant, which is located on the territory of the capital of the Philippines. Delivers cars to local market, and to the market of neighboring countries;
  • plant, which is located in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. It is considered the second largest after Korean. Supplies Kia Rio to the domestic market, the market of Eastern Europe and the CIS countries;
  • Kaliningrad plant Kia, which produces Rio cars for the Baltic countries and Central Europe. And, of course, for the Russian market.

It should be noted that almost no cars assembled in Korea are delivered to Russia. Domestic motorists are content with models assembled at our factories.

The Kia Rio comes directly from Korea to the US and Central European markets.

Kia Rio in the Russian market

As mentioned above, a Korean-made Kia Rio car is very difficult to purchase in Russia, and almost impossible. All cars of this model that can be found on domestic roads, assembled at the St. Petersburg or Kaliningrad plants.

Many may skeptically wave their hands and say: "Cars assembled at domestic factories, by default, cannot be of high quality." However, it is important to know that only final assembly is carried out at Russian factories, and all parts and components are supplied from other countries.

Kia Russian factories cooperate with:

  • the head plant of Kia, which supplies to St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad plants transmission, power units(engine, clutch, gearbox) and shock absorbers;
  • the Hyundai plant, which supplies galvanized steel to Kia's domestic facilities;
  • Hyundai Mobis - central panels and bumpers;
  • various Korean ancillary companies supply air conditioners, heating systems, and exhaust systems.

In addition, it is important to note that Russian factories use Korean technology and strictly adhere to the basic assembly concept. Quality control is carried out exclusively by independent Korean specialists, who are considered in the automotive world.

Conclusion

One of the most famous Korean cars has already conquered the markets of many countries. Due to its growing popularity, the owners of the Korean company Kia decided to build several large branches in different parts of the world, so that each would be responsible for delivering cars to their assigned markets.

In Russia, you can buy Kia Rio exclusively of domestic assembly. More precisely, the St. Petersburg or Kaliningrad production.

It is worth noting that the final stage of assembly is taking place at our factories, and all the main components are supplied from Korean facilities.
