We have drum brakes. Remove the rear wheels and raise the car. We remove the drum, it was not possible to unscrew its fasteners in the standard way, everything turned sour and covered with corrosion, I had to use an impact screwdriver:

With the help of a brake system cleaner in a bottle, we wash off the accumulated dirt under the drum. Everything is cleaned with it very well, while it evaporates almost instantly. Using a metal hook, remove the spring.

Holding your finger from behind, press with round-nose pliers and turn the latches on both sides:

Pliers couldn't do it properly. Further, for the convenience of work, we decided to remove the hub. Using a hammer and screwdriver, knock down the cover:

With a 32 head, we unscrew the hub fasteners:

We remove the pads from below, so as not to damage the anther, remove the remaining spring of the handbrake cable:

We begin to rearrange all the mechanisms from the old brake pads to the new ones, we have them from SANGSIN, the article in the SA-046 catalog.

We put new pads on the car, for this we pull the spring on the handbrake cable with round-nose pliers in the same way, insert it into the pad mechanism:

Parts of the rear brake mechanism can be removed when disassembling the brake mechanism and replaced with new ones. The exception is the working cylinder. As practice shows, its bulkhead in garage conditions in most cases does not lead to the desired result. Therefore, in the event of a malfunction, we recommend replacing the slave cylinder assembly.

The minimum allowable thickness of the friction linings of the rear brake pads brake mechanisms is 1.5 mm. Replace pads at the following cases:

- the thickness of the friction linings is less than the permissible one;

– the surface of the overlays is oiled;

friction lining loosely connected to the base;

- deep grooves and chips on the overlays.

WARNINGS

Do not use gasoline diesel fuel or any other mineral solvents for cleaning the brakes. Replace the pads simultaneously in the brake mechanisms of both rear wheels. It is unacceptable to replace the front and rear pads with each other, as well as between the left and right wheels - this can lead to uneven braking.

You will need: a wheel nut wrench, pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver, a screwdriver with cross blade, sliding pliers.

1. Engage 1st gear and place chocks under the front wheels.

2. Check that the lever parking brake was lowered all the way down (the car is disengaged).

3. Remove the wheel.

4. If the level brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir is at or near the upper mark, pump some of the fluid out of the reservoir.

5. Remove the brake drum (See "Replacing the brake drum").

6. Remove the rear wheel hub (see "replacement rear hub").

WARNING

The parts of the spacer bar and the left brake adjuster are not interchangeable with the corresponding parts of the right brake - do not mix them up!

18. Squeeze the pistons of the brake cylinder with sliding pliers and install the brake shoes in the reverse order of removal.

WARNING

Please note that when the pistons are sunk into the cylinders, the level of brake fluid in the reservoir of the master brake cylinder rises. Pump out the fluid if necessary.

19. Install the brake drum.

20. Adjust the clearance between the brake shoes and the drum by pressing the brake pedal 10-15 times.

21. Reinstall the wheel. Check for ease of rotation.

Hyundai Accent (TagAZ). REPLACEMENT OF REAR WHEEL BRAKE SHOES

The brake pads of the rear wheel mechanisms must be replaced only at the same time - in a set of four pads. Replacing only one brake pad can cause the vehicle to pull to the side when braking.

If the brake fluid level in the reservoir is at the “MAX” mark, we pump out part of the fluid from the reservoir with a medical syringe or a rubber bulb so that when the piston is sunk into the cylinder, the fluid does not leak out from under the reservoir cap.

Parking brake lever wives be lowered to the stop (the car is disengaged). We remove the rear wheel.

The hung part of the car must be installed on a reliable factory-made stand.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screw securing the brake drum ...

...and remove the drum.

If you find it difficult to loosen the screw, you can use an impact screwdriver. If, as a result of wear and tear, working surface the drum has a high shoulder, it may be difficult to remove the drum. In this case, it is necessary to loosen the parking brake cable (see " Removing elements of the parking brake system", With. 124). You can remove the brake drum...

...evenly turning it and striking with a hammer through a wooden block on the end of the drum.

Do not depress the brake pedal after removing the brake drum, as the pistons may be completely out of the cylinders.

Gasoline and diesel fuel must not be used to clean the brake mechanisms.
