AvtoVAZ carried out serious work on the selection of the technology for applying paint to the Lada X Ray and preparing the body for its application. The task was complicated by the Russian climatic conditions, which make specific adjustments to all the processes of creating a car. Before painting, Xray goes through the following preparatory steps:
- the metal on which the paint is applied is subjected to mandatory galvanization;
- galvanized metal is carefully treated with wax.
Red "Fiery" When painting, high quality enamel is used, resistant to low and contrasting temperatures. The type of coating is carefully selected for Russian climatic conditions.
How good is the coverage?
If we compare the thickness of the Xray paintwork with the thickness of the coating of other Russian cars, then the answer to this question will become obvious. Recall that the thickness of the paint layer on Xray is 75-160 microns. On the Lada Granta, the same figure does not exceed 100 microns, and on the Lada Kalina it does not rise above 90 microns. Having applied new technologies in the production of a high hatchback, Russian automakers have not lost sight of the process of galvanizing, painting and welding. These procedures should be carried out directly at the production of cars, which will allow you to get high quality. According to the assumptions of the management, the body of the Lada X Ray will be able to last up to 12 years without additional treatments. This limit is well ahead of all previously offered guarantees.
The basis of the longevity of the body is galvanization. This treatment method minimizes the aging of the metal and prevents the corrosion process. AvtoVAZ relatively recently began to use this method of protection on production cars. So far, not all parts of the Lada X Ray are exposed anti-corrosion treatment. The body is covered selectively, but according to AvtoVAZ management, soon all Lada cars will receive a 100% galvanized body, which will be made in the factory. Galvanization
The coating that protects the car body from the environment can be applied in several ways. One of them is thermal or hot. At the same time, the zinc alloy covers the body of the car at a time when it has not yet left the assembly line. At AvtoVAZ, this option is used for expensive modifications of Lada. Thermal galvanizing creates the most tangible protection that can last for many years.
The second method uses electroplating of individual parts. This is often used on mid-range machines when a certain price needs to be met. After all, galvanizing significantly adds value to each machine. The metal parts are immersed in a bath of zinc solution, where under the influence of an electric current, zinc particles are deposited on the coated metal.
There is also a third option. This method is widely used in mass production, despite more difficult process. It handles small parts of the body. Each part is exposed to zinc, iron and manganese salts. The next step is a thorough primer. After the preliminary layer has been obtained, it is covered with zinc paint, where special attention is paid to the dispersion of zinc. The latter option is not considered a full-fledged galvanizing, but still stops the effect of corrosion for a long time.
To the future in everything new
The compact crossover LADA XRay really turned the idea of domestic cars B-class. This speaks not only original color"Puma" or "Fresh". Lada X Ray has own engine in 1.8 liters and an AMT gearbox, which was not previously used on domestic cars. Minimum equipment"Optima" has so many options that more advanced classes can't handle it. The premiere meant a radically new approach of the Togliatti automobile plant to the future production of cars.
