By creating a compact, front-wheel drive and emphatically pretty car, Mercedes hoped to make a revolution, because all these adjectives were still inapplicable to cars with a three-pointed star on the hood. However, in the end, the Swedes carried out the coup, and this coup cost Mercedes dearly.
