Two-liter 1AZ-FE emerged in the early 2000s. This is an in-line 4-cylinder 16-valve unit with an aluminum cylinder block and chain drive Timing. The lateral front arches look expressive and muscular.
On the side, the crossover does not look like at all compact car. If you remove the rear and front of the "Rav 4" and leave only the profile, it can easily be confused with any executive jeep. The line running above the front arches continues along the entire body and organically ends with the taillights.
The rear of the car is even more expressive than the front. Immediately striking is the lack of a spare wheel on the tailgate of the Toyota Rav 4 (2015). - Second gasoline engine for the IV-generation RAV4 there is also a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2.5 liters. Like the junior engine, the flagship is equipped with a 16-valve DOHC system and two chain-driven VVT-i camshafts. The maximum power of this motor reaches 179 hp. or 132 kW at 6000 rpm. The peak torque of the engine is increased to 233 Nm at 4100 rpm, which also allows you to reach 180 km/h of maximum speed or to raise the arrow from 0 to the first 100 km/h on the speedometer in 9.4 seconds. A restriction has been imposed on the gearbox, this power unit is equipped only with an “automatic”, accompanied by an all-wheel drive system. As far as economy is concerned, this case average consumption increases slightly: 11.4 liters in the city, 6.8 liters on the highway and 8.5 liters in mixed driving mode.
- The only four-cylinder diesel D-4D has a displacement of 2.2 liters and has 150 hp. (110 kW) maximum power, which develops at 3600 rpm. Like petrol units, this engine is equipped with a 16-valve DOHC system and two VVT-i camshafts controlled by a timing chain drive. The performance of the diesel engine is very high, because the peak torque is reached at 2000 - 2800 rpm and is 340 Nm, which guarantees the crossover acceleration to a maximum of 185 km / h, while the acceleration dynamics are very decent: from 0 to 100 km / h the car accelerates in just in 10 seconds. Like the petrol flagship, the only diesel comes with only automatic transmission and is complemented by an all-wheel drive system. Diesel is very economical: the average fuel consumption in mixed driving mode should be about 6.5 liters, although data on consumption in urban mode and on fast lane the manufacturer has not yet published.
It is worth saying a few words about the all-wheel drive system used on the fourth generation Toyota RAV4. All electronic stuffing developed almost from scratch, significantly increasing the intelligence of the entire system, which should improve off-road qualities car, but is there any positive effect only the first official tests in Russia will show, which, unfortunately, have not yet been carried out.
