The driver orientation here, as in other recent BMWs, is now expressed in the angles of rotation of the two large displays. If the body of the pre-reform BMW 3 was made entirely of steel, then in the power frame new car aluminum is used. As a result, the curb weight of the 7th generation vehicle is on average 55 kg less. Also, the novelty has an ideal weight distribution along the axes (50:50) and a low center of gravity (10 mm lower than before).

The suspension of the sedan has a classic layout: front MacPherson struts and rear multi-link. Already in the initial versions, special shock absorbers with progressive characteristics (rigidity depends on the stroke of the rod) are installed, providing a more precise response with minimal loss in comfort. The optional lowered M-suspension, in addition to progressive shock absorbers, is equipped with springs of increased rigidity (24% more rigid than conventional ones). The most advanced chassis option will be a lowering suspension, electronically controlled dampers and adaptive steering.

The new BMW 3-Series will be offered in six versions. Two of them are petrol - a BMW 320i and BMW 330i, equipped with a 2.0-liter "turbo" TwinPower Turbo with a return of 184 hp (300 Nm) and 258 hp (400 Nm). Diesel variations are represented by the BMW 318d (2.0 liter, 150 hp, 320 Nm), BMW 320d and BMW 320d xDrive (2.0 liter, 190 hp, 400 Nm), BMW 330d (3.0 liter straight-six) , 265 hp, 580 Nm).

Engine

Gearboxes to choose from - 6-speed "mechanics" or 8-band automatic ZF. The drive for all versions is rear, and only for the BMW 320d is there a full xDrive. In the same time BMW modification The 330i can be ordered with an electronically locking rear differential.
