So far, the range is represented by a 2.0-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 190 hp. on xDrive20d, as well as a 265-horsepower “six” with a volume of 3.0 liters on the xDrive30d modification. The petrol version is a “heated” one, equipped with an in-line turbocharged “six” of the new B58 modular family.

This produces 360 “horses” and 500 Nm of torque at the peak, providing the model with acceleration from zero to hundreds in 4.8 seconds (maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h). The transmission for all engines is an 8-band automatic, and the drive is xDrive with a multi-plate clutch for connecting the front axle. At the same time, the rear-wheel drive version of the sDrive20i will be sold in America.

Later, petrol versions of the xDrive20i will appear with a two-liter turbo four with 184 hp. and a variant of the same engine boosted to 252 forces on xDrive30i. A longer perspective provides for the emergence of a hybrid version of the “x-third” and a full-fledged “charged”, which has never been in the line before.

What is the price

The production of the SUV has been established at an enterprise in the American Spartanburg, the start of sales of the new BMW X3 G01 in Russia fell on mid-November 2017, while in the future the assembly of the most popular versions can be arranged at Avtotor in Kaliningrad.

The price of the basic version of xDrive20i is 2,950,000 rubles, for the diesel version of xDrive20d they ask from 3,040,000 rubles, the top version of the M40i was estimated at 4,040,000 rubles.

Already in the base, the car has diode optics and 18-inch wheels, a steering rack with variable tooth pitch, adaptive shock absorbers, a sports M-suspension, ventilation of the front seats, three-zone climate control, an ionizer and an air freshener, a Wi distribution function are available as options. -Fi for ten devices, etc.

True, along with the novelty is one of its main competitors - the Porsche Macan SUV. Many will immediately wonder why the engineers of a famous German brand needed the presence of a competing car at the mandatory winter tests? The answer is obvious, and it is from it that the story itself will follow about what the new BMW X3 crossover is in 2018.

It turns out that at the beginning of 2017, the Porsche Macan can be called the best crossover of its kind, presented on the global market. According to the creators of the well-known Bavarian novelty, such a love of adherents of large cars will not last long, because a fresh generation of the famous BMW X3 SUV will appear on the mass production conveyor. It is worth recalling that the creation of new items will begin in the second half of this year.

Against the background of its existing predecessor, the X3 crossover will be 100 kilograms lighter, although the body itself is clearly a little higher. Such an opportunity will become real due to the new CLAR platform, on the basis of which the 7 series model is currently being produced, and in the future the next generation X5 will also appear.

In a more detailed study of the prototype, one can note the increased parameters of the rear doors, which indicates an elongated wheelbase. All this means only that the rear row passengers will have more space for comfortable accommodation.

According to the engineers of a well-known enterprise, the long-awaited generation of the 2018 SUV will get a couple of new engines: a gasoline and diesel internal combustion engine for 6 cylinders. Together with them, the rear-wheel drive SDrive, or the traditional xDrive all-wheel drive option for this model, should work.

The usual fight for dominance

Against the background of the same video from the network, it will be possible to designate an explicit comparison of the G01 all-wheel drive and the transmission of the Porsche Macan SUV. That is why for the testing process, it was decided to choose the optimally unfavorable conditions in order to try to create a really good new product, which is "tough" to overcome any difficulties.

It is clear that off-road in this case is not the best indicator of superiority. In fact, the employees of the company had only one task: to do everything possible so that anywhere on the planet, whether it be a track, a race track or a runway, the third generation X3 proved to be better than the competing Macan. One can only hope that the smoothness and control of the finished result will indeed have clear advantages over the Porsche crossover.

Preliminary data

Unfortunately, it is not possible to conduct a full review of the novelty, since the developer himself has not yet commented on the exact configuration of the crossover. It is worth recalling that recently the Porsche company published data on the technical equipment of its Macan crossover. Under the hood of the car is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which will significantly reduce the price of transport. Very soon, the novelty will be available to a large number of users around the world.

It is clear that the Bavarians also have an answer no worse in their arsenal: a whole division of four- and six-cylinder engines. This is what will allow BMW to become a good rival for Porsche in the battle for market share in this vehicle segment. Since the Macan Turbo model will also be on the line of competing with the M-version of the X3, the Bavarians are faced with a very difficult task - to “surpass” their German colleagues. According to experts, very soon a SUV model will appear in the family, the Macan is better in everything - X3M with a twin-turbo M3 / M4 engine with a capacity of 500 horsepower.

As a result, we can conclude that in 2018 a real fierce war will break out in the market for small premium crossovers. After all, the Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5 will compete with the Porsche Macan SUV. All this list of excellent cars will have to survive in the future in the fight against other newcomers from the same series, which are still at the design stage of many car companies.

It remains only to add that, taking into account the talent of the Bavarian specialists, all their premium crossovers are in good demand. So, very soon it will be interesting to watch which of the "Germans" will become the leader.

Interior

When considering a photo of the interior of the BMW X3, the infotainment screen located at the top of the center console immediately stands out. On this screen, the driver can find out information about traffic conditions, traffic jams and recommended ways to detour them, get acquainted with the weather forecast, connect Internet radio, social networks, and also receive other information necessary during the trip.

The multifunction steering wheel is made in leather. The necessary control buttons are placed on the steering wheel itself, which allows the driver not to be distracted while driving to find the necessary vehicle controls. The rest of the controls, which are located on the dashboard, received a modified design, including the color scheme. The panel itself is made in the classic version.

The following materials were used for interior trim:
