At very low temperatures, there is a possibility of fuel freezing in the banjo bolts and overflow hose, which will make it impossible for fuel to flow from tank to tank and to balance the pressure in the main tank with atmospheric pressure. If the main tank closes as tightly as possible, and the pressure in it cannot equalize with atmospheric pressure, the tank will be squeezed externally. The tank will shrink inward. With a large number of compression and expansion cycles, the main tank may crack. To avoid this, when the hose freezes, simply open the air to the tank: open the tank’s connection with the atmosphere through the fuel receiver (“Air” tube) or by installing the cover from the additional tank ( with valve, access atm. air into the tanks is carried through it).

On UAZ Hunter vehicles with a ZMZ-409 Euro-2 engine, a fuel supply system without a fuel tank switching valve was used. Fuel is supplied by a submersible electric fuel pump (submersible module) installed in the right fuel tank.

From the fuel tanks, through the fine filter, the fuel enters the fuel rail, the relative pressure in which is maintained by the pressure regulator at 300 kPa. Increased fuel pressure eliminates the appearance of air bubbles and gasoline vapors in the fuel line, which interfere with the normal operation of the injectors.

The fuel injectors are high speed precision valves (normally closed) that open to inject fuel into the engine intake pipe. The opening and closing of the injectors is carried out automatically according to the cyclogram of the operation of the corresponding output channels of the electronic control unit.

The injectors inject fuel into the engine's hot and closed intake valves, which improves the quality of the air-fuel mixture. The control unit sets the duration and phase of fuel injection depending on the engine operating mode, crankshaft speed and load.

Excess fuel in the rail is discharged through the drain hole of the pressure regulator and the jet pump into the right tank. At the same time, fuel flows by injection from the left tank through the jet pump into the right tank.

After any maintenance or repair of the fuel supply system of the ZMZ-409 engine, associated with tightening connections, removing or replacing parts and assemblies, it is necessary to check the tightness of the system.

Lack of tightness in the joints is eliminated by tightening the joints or replacing defective elements. The fittings of steel fuel pipelines must be tightened to a torque of 27+-7 Nm. The rubber hose clamps are tightened with a torque of 3.5+-0.5 Nm.

With these signs, in order to avoid failure of the submersible module and the fuel module, you should immediately flush the right fuel tank and the submersible module strainer, and also replace the fine fuel filter.

At ambient temperatures below 0 degrees, signs of clogging may be due to the presence of water and its freezing in the power system. If water is found in the fuel, drain it and flush the fuel tanks with fuel lines with clean gasoline, and replace the fuel fine filter. If, after carrying out these measures, the nature of the engine operation has not changed and unstable engine operation is observed, then the following work must be carried out -.

Fuel tanks UAZ Hunter.

The fuel pressure regulator is attached through the inlet threaded fitting to the drain hole of the fuel rail, and its outlet fitting is connected through the drain pipe to the jet pump. The air fitting of the fuel pressure regulator is connected by a thin rubber hose to a fitting screwed into the intake pipe receiver.

Increased fuel pressure, more than 300 kPa, in the engine fuel rail is manifested by increased fuel consumption, smoky engine exhaust. With these signs, you should clean the jet pump, blow out the drain fuel lines from the pressure regulator on the fuel rail to the right tank. If necessary, replace the pressure regulator and the electric fuel pump.

The fuel supply system for the ZMZ-409 engine on the UAZ Hunter is equipped with a jet pump. It is designed for forced transfer of fuel from the left fuel tank to the right one. The jet pump is an injector, the flow channel of which is connected to the pipeline for draining fuel into the tank, and the injection channel is connected to the fuel intake pipeline.
