The life of a truck driver is much more difficult than that of a simple small car owner. Trucks, unlike cars, cannot drive freely on any city roads. Often you can see the sign - "Movement trucks forbidden".

Although, as usual, there are exceptions:
- utility vehicles or postal cars;
- delivery of goods or trucks that carry passengers;
- cars that are on the balance sheet of enterprises located in the zone of the sign.
Sign coverage area can be indicated by plate 8.3.1-8.3.3 if the sign is in front of a turn or intersection. Well, if the driver enters this zone from some adjacent lane, then he cannot be punished in any way for violating the rules.
Also, the sign "Movement of trucks is prohibited" may be temporary, as, for example, in many metropolitan cities, where the movement of trucks is not very welcome. Each country has its own rules traffic(SDA), according to which travel is carried out both on roads and on highways. Trucks most often carry out the transportation of goods within the country and abroad. It is with this technique that we will take a closer look and consider the rules of movement, taking into account various masses and the responsibility for violating these rules.
What is a truck according to traffic rules?
Truck is a broad concept. This does not include only tractors and dump trucks, for example. But many are faced with the problem of determining the type of car according to traffic rules. In fact, there should not be any difficulties in this matter:
- a passenger car is one that reaches but does not exceed the permitted weight of 3.5 tons with no more than eight seats (excluding the driver's seat);
- truck a mobile is considered to be one whose authorized mass exceeds 3.5 tons (buses are not included in this number).
The rules of the road do not clearly separate these categories, they feature three types of trucks:
- Up to 2.5 tons.
- From 2.5 to 3.5 tons.
- Over 3.5 tons.
Depending on whether the car belongs to the category of trucks or not, certain traffic standards may be established, as well as prohibitions on movement.
Location on the road

Outside built-up areas
The previous rule is also common when driving through settlements where the main road is located. It works here next rule: "Stay as far to the right as possible." - freight transport weighing from 2500 to 3500 kilograms can move in any lanes (if there are three or more), but it has the right to occupy the leftmost one only for a U-turn or a left turn;
- all trucks with an authorized weight of more than 3500 kilograms have the right to drive on such roads only in the two extreme right lanes (in accordance with the rule of paragraph 16.1, driving to any other lane is strictly prohibited);
- light trucks weighing no more than 2500 kilograms can occupy any lane on such roads, there are no restrictions for them.

Prohibition signs for trucks
In addition to the traffic rules described above, there is another type of restriction in the form of road signs. There are many more, and every driver should know what they mean. The fact is that they are divided into eight categories.

In what cases is it forbidden to drive under the sign 3.4, and in what cases it is possible
Before finding out what punishment is provided for driving under sign 3.4, you should figure out which vehicles fall under its action. The rules governing the passage of trucks are prescribed in clause 3.4 of Appendix 1 of the SDA:
“The movement of trucks and vehicles with a permitted license is prohibited. maximum weight more than 3.5 tons (if the weight is not indicated on the sign) or with a maximum permitted weight exceeding that indicated on the sign, as well as tractors and self-propelled machines.
Important: Do not confuse the permitted maximum weight (PMM) with actual weight vehicle. PMM is the maximum permitted weight of the car, it is set by the manufacturer and does not depend on the actual load of the car at all. RMM is indicated in the vehicle passport.
In accordance with the traffic rules, if the weight is not indicated on the prohibition sign, then driving under it is prohibited by a truck with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons. If the weight is indicated, for example, 8 tons, and the gross weight of your car is less, then the sign does not apply to you . 
However, there are exceptions to this rule that allow passage of certain vehicles with a permitted maximum mass exceeding the indicated one. The travel ban does not apply to vehicles that:
- Carry out transportation of passengers;
- Deliver goods to enterprises;
- Belong to the federal post office.

Important: You can enter the restricted area for trucks from adjacent roads where there is no sign 3.4. It will not be considered a violation.

Penalty for non-compliance with the requirements of the sign "Movement of trucks is prohibited"
If your car does not have a special pass and does not fall under any of the exceptions described above, then the fine for driving under the sign "Traffic traffic is prohibited" will be 500 rubles:

Important: A fine for driving under a sign prohibiting the passage of trucks can be paid with a 50% discount within 20 days from the date of the decision to impose an administrative penalty.
