What is the weight of the brand. ZAZ "Tavria": specifications, photos and reviews

26.06.2020

The ZAZ-1102 Tavria front-wheel drive subcompact class hatchback, which became the basis for a whole family of cars, entered mass production in November 1987, although the project of a new small car - economical, affordable and dynamic - was ready at the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant back in 1978.

In 1998, the three-door went through modernization, changing its name to Tavria-Nova (and the factory index to ZAZ-110216) - it was “cured” by the existing “childhood diseases”, improved technical and operational indicators, slightly updated appearance and finalized passive safety.

In this form, the car lasted until the beginning of 2007, after which it finally left the conveyor due to its outdated design and low consumer demand.

Outwardly, the ZAZ-1102 "Tavria" immediately declares its "budget essence" - there are no bright or memorable solutions in the appearance of the car, while it has a harmonious look, albeit not quite attractive. Simple rectangular lighting, black plastic bumpers and flat sidewalls with regular strokes of the wheel arches - the hatchback looks quite good, at least for its price tag.

"Tavria" is a full-fledged "player" of the B-class according to European standards: 3708 mm long, 1410 mm high and 1554 mm wide. The wheelbase of the three-door does not exceed 2320 mm, and its ground clearance is 162 mm. The mass of the car in the "combat" state varies from 710 to 745 kg, depending on the version.

The interior of the hatchback by today's standards looks outdated in all respects - a four-spoke steering wheel with a flat rim, an archaic dashboard, on which there was only a place for a speedometer and fuel and engine temperature indicators, a simple center console topped with heater "sliders", an analog clock and a place for a radio tape recorder .

In the interior of the ZAZ-1102, frankly budget finishing materials are used, and the assembly is not of high quality.

Formally, the “apartments” of the three-door are five-seater, but in reality the rear sofa can accommodate only two passengers (and they should not expect an excess of free space, as well as basic amenities, such as headrests). The front riders, in turn, are given shapeless chairs with weak support on the sides, but good adjustment ranges.

In the standard form, the trunk of a small car is small - only 250 liters. The whole back of the second row of seats folds down, but does not form a flat platform, although it increases the volume of the “hold” to 740 liters. The full-size "spare wheel" of the car is not located under the raised floor, but next to the engine - under the hood.

Specifications. ZAZ-1102 "Tavria" is found exclusively in gasoline versions equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive transmission:

  • Initially, the car was equipped with in-line atmospheric "fours" with a volume of 1.0-1.3 liters with carburetor injection, liquid cooling and an 8-valve timing structure, generating 54-66 horsepower and 80-105 Nm of torque.
  • However, they were subsequently superseded by a 1.3-liter engine that has a distributed power system in its arsenal and produces 72 “horses” and 108 Nm of maximum potential.

The Soviet / Ukrainian small car cannot boast of outstanding “driving” characteristics: from standstill to 100 km / h it rushes in 12.5-16.2 seconds, accelerates to a maximum of 148-164 km / h and “digests” no more than 6-7.4 liters of fuel for each "hundred" in the "city / highway" mode.

The ZAZ-1102 "Tavria" is based on a front-wheel drive architecture with a transversely based power plant and an all-metal body of a load-bearing configuration. The front axle of the car is equipped with an independent suspension of the "swinging candle" type with MacPherson struts, and the rear axle is equipped with a semi-independent architecture with a transverse beam and telescopic shock absorbers ("in a circle" - with coil springs).
The hatchback boasts a rack and pinion steering system with an anti-theft device. The three-door has a hydraulic dual-circuit braking system with front disc and rear drum devices (though without any electronics).

Prices. In the spring of 2017, the ZAZ-1102 Tavria is offered on the Russian market of used cars at a price of 15,000-50,000 rubles, while the cost of individual copies reaches 150,000 rubles.
The basic equipment of the car is extremely scarce - 13-inch stamped wheel rims, fabric trim, headrests on the front seats, rear window heating and turn signal repeaters on the front fenders. The maximum version, in turn, "flaunts": a soft luggage rack, a spoiler on the tailgate, a radio, a sunroof and some other options.

ZAZ 1102 Tavria, 1995

I had a chance to ride a Tavria ZAZ 1102, 1995 onwards, 1.1 liters, with a non-luxury interior for a couple of years. What can I say, the car is “raw”, but given that it was designed back in the late 70s, long before Samar, you yourself understand how advanced this device was. The Tavria engine is weak, but given the weight of the car, it pulls well with a moderate load. With the correct setting of the power system and normal driving, it can take only 5 liters of 92nd gasoline. The carburetor is constantly clogged, but this is fixable. The suspension of the ZAZ 1102, although soft, is uncomfortable. Good clearance for our eyebrows and pits. On any snow and off-road, she crawled with a bang, where Zhiguli and foreign cars sagged for a long time (the main thing is not to put her on the “belly”). A serious minus is the design of the wheel hubs. Not only can you not install any titanium disks, but regular ones are also flimsy, they don’t hold blows at all. The body is weak, it is necessary to have “anticorrosive” and fender liner. There is no power steering. Barely installed a vacuum brake booster. The poor quality of all regular hoses, rubber bands and "plastics" - the Chinese do it better.

In the interior of the ZAZ 1102, everything is simple to disgrace: starting from the instrument panel (without a tachometer) and ending with rattling plastic and a small “glove compartment”. Fitting does not stand up to criticism, seats without the slightest hint of comfort, under a driver of normal weight, do not live long at all. The car did not even have an elementary heating of the rear window (this is during our winters). True, the trunk is roomy, especially with the rear seats folded down. The most problematic thing in the ZAZ 1102, in my opinion, is the electrics. Just some kind of curse: if not one, then another. Hence the loss of a spark, overheating in the summer, broken bulbs, battery discharge. I also drove another "Tavria" '98, 1.2 l, "Lux". It differed slightly: only the steering wheel, instrument panel, interior, the presence of a headlight hydro-corrector (“dead” after the first winter), belts with tensioners, and that’s all. A little faster, more interesting inside, but in general the same design. Spare parts are “cheap” compared to foreign cars, but there is a problem: you need to know the places where they sell quality ones, otherwise you will have to regularly “sunbathe” under the car. I advise you not to save on this - it's more expensive for yourself. In general, an ordinary car, no frills. There are enough cons, but there are also pluses, and a lot. Cheap and high-spirited, will not let you down if you follow it normally and change everything in time. Not, of course, like in a foreign car that you drive and don’t even look, but I wouldn’t say that it breaks down constantly. If anyone will take it, I recommend ZAZ 1102 for all novice drivers, those who want to learn how to deal with the technical part, where there is what and how to adjust it yourself, and not just be a “user”.

Advantages : fuel consumption. Frisky. Will go almost everywhere. Cheap to maintain. The traffic police does not stop. Not interested in thieves.

Flaws : weak handbrake. Wretched wheel design. Problematic wiring and rubber bands. No respect on the road It's hard to find good parts.

ZAZ 1102 Tavria, 1998

Car "Tavria" was bought in 2000. Prior to this, the car stood for two years on stands in western Ukraine - it was sold, but no one took it. And then by 2000 they were discounted to a ridiculous amount - $ 1,700, or at that time 9,700 hryvnia (40 thousand rubles). Since I had no options, except for this car, and the wheels for a family of 4 are very necessary - I bought a Tavria. You could also buy used cars, but buying a 15-year-old foreign car or a 10-year-old domestic one is a lottery with a 0.1% win. ZAZ 1102 red color, imported paint, quite beautiful when new. Although the car is primitive, it has advantages, I will list them in a chaotic order: economical, city / highway (summer) 6.7-4.8; city / highway (winter) - 7.8 - 5.0. Maybe eat more, it's like driving. My driving style is now very imposing, I try not to rush anywhere, especially after skidding in winter at a speed of 100 km / h, when I went around two pits that went one after another. Roomy - in ZAZ 1102 you can stuff so much, if you expand the rear seats - you will be amazed. Moved in the fall, had to be used as a freight transport. So next to 2106 something was screwed onto the trunk, something was barely stuffed into the cabin. In Tavria, when loading, there is room for creativity.

Convenient for driving in the city. Good review. Sufficiently comfortable front seats and the driver's feet are normally located on the pedals, in contrast to the "classics". At night - normal lighting. Corrosion resistant body. High ground clearance. On rough terrain, as well as in small floods, I feel confident. What I didn’t like: the engine on the ZAZ 1102 at a temperature of more than 80 degrees becomes sluggish, slow, the smell of oil appears in the cabin. In traffic jams, it often gets very hot. The car is very tough. The front struts "flew" once and again they need to be changed. Bearings are already buzzing at 35 thousand km. One changed on the front wheel, but he needs attention again. Now there are 38 thousand km on the speedometer. The steering rack rattles, also new. In general, with the quality of spare parts full guard. The only positive thing about them is that they are cheap. Replacing the front struts, brake pads, camber adjustment, brake adjustment - up to $ 80 with spare parts. The instrument panel is made of low quality material. I'm afraid to even call it plastic. In the ZAZ 1102 cabin, there are always “crickets”, a lot of “crickets”.

Advantages : if everything is in order, it will take you from point "A" to point "B". Corrosion resistant body. Comfortable front seats, compared to classic Vases. Convenient pedal placement. Economical.

Flaws : tough as a trough. Small problems poison life. In winter, either hot or cold - no options.

ZAZ 1102 Tavria, 2003

I bought a used car with 43,000 km in 2005. Another 65,000 passed in a year. Now on the speedometer 108 thousand km. This is the second car of this brand that I own. The first "Tavria" was 98 onwards, the so-called "loin", on which I traveled 168 thousand km, and then sold it into the reliable, tenacious hands of a reseller. Indeed, the beating of the steering wheel at a speed of 100 to 120 km per hour, as well as the beating of the front brake discs of the wheels when braking, is probably a design feature of the car that cannot be eliminated. As for the engine, the car is quite dynamic, reliable, subject to two basic rules: the first is gasoline of a brand not lower than 95, the second is a good semi-synthetic oil. The quality of ZAZ 1102 has improved markedly since 98. This can be seen from communication with brothers in misfortune at the service station, who were “lucky” to own cars up to 98 onwards, as well as from the above-mentioned reviews. The chassis of the ZAZ 1102 is quite reliable, which is surprising. Given the constant beating of the front wheels, I changed the ball joints and tips for 89 thousand km, and the racks still live. The clutch disc had to be changed immediately upon purchase, because. the former owner “killed” him (for 43 thousand, he already had the second disk). My clutch disc has passed 65 thousand km and will pass another, I think, 20 thousand.

Advantages : maneuverability. Dynamism.

Flaws : unreliable brakes. Weak body. Safety.

ZAZ 1102 Tavria, 1999

After Moskvich wanted something with less consumption. Either the killed "eight" or Tavria fell into the budget. Decided to take it. It cost a ridiculous 23 thousand (the fifth "iPhone" is more expensive), but it was on the move, went every day. Of the stocks was broken bumper, headlight, but a little dented rear fender. On the account they wrapped me up, saying go buy it. Anyway. Bumper 500 rubles, headlight 200. Normal. I wanted to roll and balance the disk, a jack rolled up, something crackled - a hole. The car is not rotten. To tell the truth, only the driver's side has rotted, it's tolerable on the right, everything is fine in the back, even the Movil has been preserved. In total, about 10 thousand were spent on all repairs. Consumption in the city was about 6-8 liters, so much, because I pressed into the “sneakers”, if you don’t press, then you can safely fit into 6. On the ZAZ 1102 highway, Tavria eats about 5 liters at a speed of 100 km / h. I fill in 12 liters, enough for 25 km in the city and 150 on the highway. It is easy to drive, the steering wheel is easy to turn, the tires are "Belshina" all-weather. The engine is quite frisky, up to 60 in about 5 seconds. It was also on the car: heated seats, engine and pump from the GAZelle. The car was hot, and the presence of engine heating allowed me not to worry about winter starts. The running ZAZ 1102 Tavria is pretty decent, it doesn’t blow off or throw on the track, but the wheels are just something, they bend from any hole where you can roll them in our city, I never found it. Ruled with a sledgehammer. After adjusting the valves to "hearing", I drove 150 km to the village, in the middle of the road in the engine, something clicked, the traction worsened, I decided not to slow down and drove like that. It turned out that the exhaust valve in the 3rd cylinder burned out. Naturally, there were no valves in the village. On 3 pots went back. And he arrived. Upon arrival, I bought spare parts for 5,000 rubles, made a head, did it myself by the way, adjusted the valves this time with a probe and according to the book, the car drove off and did not cause any more problems. Compared to Moskvich, ZAZ 1102 Tavria did not break down at all. But the gradually increasing shortage of spare parts (there were only 2 stalls in the main car market of the city) and the condition of the body (there were no thresholds, and the driver’s floor) was decided to be sold.

Advantages : easy to operate. Sharp engine.

Flaws : lack of spare parts.

ZAZ 1102 Tavria, 1994

This is my first own car, before that I studied and drove various domestic cars, so I will try to draw a rough portrait of this ZAZ 1102 Tavria. First, from the pros - the car has a very light steering wheel, there are no amplifiers and they are not needed there. It looks cool, youthful, no matter how like a coupe, you can’t tell from a distance from 2108, a 5-speed box, very happy, 140 goes well at 1.1 liters, not a lot of fuel consumption, there is a lot of space in the front. The doors close much quieter than on the Classic, a trifle, but nice. Now the cons. Let's start with the wheels, 3-bolt rims, you just can't find it, you can't balance it, and the view is terrible. The size of the tires is also not encouraging, 170 by 55 - neither here nor there, the brakes are terrible, without a "vacuum", it's scary in the city. Her other weaknesses are the clutch, the timing belt, the box is very interesting, and for some reason the 5th gear is “changed” from the back, it’s not convenient without a habit. On the highway, the speed is above 100 and it starts to blow off, a meager dashboard, there is no tachometer and in the dark it is poorly lit, the native backlight is useless, it’s tight with spare parts, only to order and then not everywhere. You can forget about services. In general, the car is not bad, but for those who can disassemble and assemble it themselves.

Advantages A: There is no tax on it. Small fuel consumption. Front-wheel drive. Cheap.

Flaws : weak grip. Timing belt. Brakes. Parts are tight.

ZAZ 1102 Tavria, 2000

This is not my first ZAZ 1102 Tavria - and it’s no coincidence, because if you take our still Soviet auto industry, and even for that kind of money, then, in my opinion, for an understanding person it’s better and there can’t be a car, of course girls can’t ride it, but in the economy and in everyday life, this machine is beyond praise. We are talking about a good, not rotten and technically sound car and not a designer for 2 rubles. What I liked: the same eight, in fact, only even with a smaller mass. The native engine ZAZ 1102 Tavria is enough for the eyes. Reliable front wheel drive. In fact, a spacious lounge (more than in the Niva). Liftback - you can load long items without damage and the presence of a roof rack. Starts up great in cold weather. The oven is great. Passable, as it weighs very little. It goes great on the track. Do not eat no oil, and gasoline eats minimally. Salon in semi-luxe models is not miserable. Better than the classic Zhiguli in any way, and I’m not even talking about the Oka. All of the parts are available and inexpensive. Reliable on the engine (if you pour good oil and gasoline will go for a very long time). The body of the ZAZ 1102 Tavria does not rot - not like the 41st Muscovites. Maneuverable and, most importantly, she is not so sorry - there will be no nervous breakdowns. Of the minuses: there is no "vacuum" on the brakes, and the rear brakes are only for appearance.

Advantages : See review.

Flaws : See review.

ZAZ 1102 Tavria, 1991

I bought a ZAZ 1102 Tavria 1991 for 4500 rubles, mileage at least 122 thousand km. Took only out of greed, because the body was not completely rotten. I wasn’t going to drive like this, I’m not a poor person, I have enough money for a new car, in short, the devil beguiled. The owner said that he was eating oil and needed to do the electrics, but I had already decided by that time and I didn’t care. But curiosity won: I put the battery in, turned the key - and it started up. I changed the thermostat, looked through the contacts, and passed the technical inspection without any bribes, however, the third time, because of the handbrake - the rear drums were worn unevenly. Since then, I have already traveled 10 thousand, I travel 150 km to Moscow to work, I have already been in the Tula and Yaroslavl regions. There was one breakdown - a broken timing belt, which cost me 3,000 rubles together with a tow truck. For some reason, after 3 thousand, the oil stopped leaving, it didn’t leave at all, at 7 thousand it began to leave again, miracles. Fuel consumption 6-7 liters in mixed mode. Speed 145, on the new rig I accelerated for the company with everyone. The brakes are tighter than on the Chisel, but quite enough. It accelerates sluggishly, maybe it runs after the repair of the engine. As soon as normal people buy a car, they immediately set up an alarm, and the first thing I did was throw out the keys to all the locks, soon I will throw out the ignition lock. I do not want to buy any other car, I will drive until this one breaks down. When I'm standing in a Moscow traffic jam, people give such contemptuous glances. And I grin to myself, looking at the "cool" ones, who may not be able to pay for their "cars" until the end of their lives.

Advantages : cheap spare parts. Resilience. The average speed is higher than on the "eight".

Flaws : specific gearbox. Small mirrors. Uncomfortable seats.

Three-door liftback, produced from 1988 to 2007 at the Ukrainian Zaporozhye Automobile Plant. The car was positioned as a minicar with front-wheel drive. Models based on the ZAZ-1102 platform were produced until 2011.

On the basis of the car, about 40 various modifications were assembled, as well as a large number of independent models: ZAZ-1103 Slavuta (five-door hatchback), ZAZ-1105 Dana (five-door station wagon) and commercial pickup truck ZAZ-11055 "Pick-Up ".

Story.

In the late 60s, the designers of the Kommunar plant developed a small-class front-wheel drive car, which was supposed to replace the Zaporozhets ZAZ-966. For development, experimental developments of VAZ-a (VAZ-3E1101) and NAMI (prototype 0132) were used.

The terms of reference for the development of the model were drawn up by the USSR Ministry of Automotive Industry in 1978, but already in the early 70s, two prototypes with hatchback and two-door sedan bodies were presented.

When the design was completed and the process of “finishing” the car began, the Minavtoprom, for some unknown reason, radically changed the technical specifications, setting a new task for the design bureau - to design a car that surpasses the popular European model Ford Fiesta in 1976. A similar picture could be observed at the AZLK plant, when the S-3 prototype was forced to redesign at the behest of the leadership of the Minavtoprom.

The TOR for the development of the car has changed several times, the Ministry of Automotive Industry put forward more and more new requirements for exceeding the parameters of various foreign "compact cars" of those years: Fiat-Uno, Austin-Metro, and so on. And if we also take into account the problems of financing, then it becomes clear why it took so long to launch the car into mass production.

The first production car was released on November 18, 1987, its cost was 5100 rubles. The production of a luxury modification immediately began, which was equipped with a more powerful engine (developing a maximum speed of 155 km / h, instead of 145 km / h for the regular version), a radio tape recorder and a Solex-type two-chamber carburetor. The body was painted with metallized enamel. The price of the luxury version was more than 200 rubles.

The car was considered quite economical. In 1989, a commercial was released showing the driver filling the car with his lighter. This video was awarded the Cannes Bronze Lion in the Trade Advertising category.

The release of the car was completed in 2007.

"Tavria" refers to cars of the 2nd class (budget models). Initially, it was produced at a Soviet factory, but later the bulk began to roll off the assembly line of the same, but already Ukrainian ZAZ. The first exclusive copy became the "parent" for a huge number of different models and their modifications, which were combined into a giant series.

You can easily remember about 40 different cars. It is worth noting that they were in high demand among the domestic buyer. The end of the large-scale production took place in 2007.

The history of the development of ZAZ "Tavria-1102"

The development of a new (at that time) Tavria car began because of the need to replace the models. By the 70s, two versions of the car were created in the form of a sedan and a hatchback. But permission for production was obtained only after 10 years. After the release of a large batch, the management changed the task of this machine. It was agreed that the model should bear a resemblance to the European sales leader (we are talking about the Ford Fiesta). An experienced designer working at a factory in Zaporozhye has said more than once that the American "child" has nothing to do with advertising. If bright posters and videos made the Fiesta an ideal car, then in reality it did not meet many of the declared characteristics. Therefore, bypassing it in technical terms was not a very difficult and time-consuming process.

The Soviet auto industry constantly demanded from the manufacturer to improve the Tavria, setting her ever more difficult tasks and goals. The first production model, which was sold throughout the Union, was a copy released in November 1987.

Specifications ZAZ-1102

"Tavria" has a 3-door hatchback. Passengers fit 5 people. The mass of the machine is slightly more than 1100 kg. The vehicle is 3700 mm long, 1550 mm wide and 1400 mm high.

Engines have a volume of 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 liters. Power is 53, 58 and 63 hp. With. respectively. Maximum acceleration (speed) - 145, 158 and 165 km / h, depending on the unit. You can reach 100 km / h from a standstill in 15-16 seconds.

Detailed description of the car design

  • The rear door of the machine is equipped with a special lock, which is installed inside.
  • Lubrication, or rather its system, is of a combined type.
  • The crankcase ventilation system is closed and passes through the carburetor and air cleaner.
  • The carburetor installed on the ZAZ-1102 has an emulsion type.
  • The cooling system is located in the radiator, and it turns on automatically when necessary. The exact location is the casing.
  • Ignition - battery. Candles have a screw-in length of 18 mm.
  • The exhaust system of the car (muffler) is set by the manufacturer.
  • The clutch is dry type.
  • Transmission - mechanical.
  • Brakes are of different types. Parking - manual type, rear - drum, and front - disk.

The figure below shows the ZAZ-1102 diagram (we are talking about electrical wiring).

Model range "Tavria"

The ZAZ-110240 car began to be produced in 1991. Production continued until 1997. In this model, the trunk has expanded volumes. There is a side passenger sofa. Unlike the sedan, these instances differ in carrying capacity. The second time the car rolled off the assembly line in 1999. Its predecessor ZAZ-1102 was already far behind the described model in development. The new version was distinguished by the installed engine. A large-scale release of a sanitary modification was planned, but the desired did not come true.

The cargo model of "Tavria" was named ZAZ-110260. There were no passenger seats except for the seat next to the driver. The car is able to withstand loads up to 300 kg.

The next interesting model is ZAZ-110260-30. In the roof of this modification, one could find a small hole for the antenna. The machine had a distinctive feature - the presence of the function of automatically turning on a low fan speed. Special plugs were installed on the bumpers.

"Slavuta"

Slavuta rolled off the assembly line from 1999 to 2011. It belongs to category "B". Established body type liftback. The engines that these models were equipped with are designed for 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 liters (carburetor), as well as 1.2 and 1.3 liters (injection). The development of "Slavuta", which is associated with the ZAZ-1102, began due to the fact that "Dana" did not meet the modern requirements of drivers at that time, due to which it was not in great demand. Almost six months later, 1.1 l was replaced by an analogue of 1.2 l. And in 2002, the most expensive model for the entire production period appeared on the markets - a car with a 1.3-liter injection engine. However, the latter option was not suitable for sale due to the tightening of environmental regulations. In January 2011, the plant stopped producing Slavuta.

The body has 5 doors, it is made of all-metal material, has a closed and load-bearing type. The rear window opens together with the tailgate. The mass of the car is 800 kg. Tank volume - 38 l.

The engines that were installed on the Slavuta were developed and manufactured at the Melitopol plant. All units are designed for 4 cylinders. located in the back left. Ignition (ZAZ-1102 is equipped with a similar system) has a battery structure and a non-contact voltage of 12 volts.

"Dana"

The assembly of the car began in 1994. The last copy rolled off the assembly line in 2010. "Dana" - the owner of a 5-door body, which has significant differences from the original model. Although it was built on the ZAZ-1102, the look of the newer car has an original and organic design.

As standard, the car is capable of carrying loads up to 200 kg with five passengers in the cabin. You could get acquainted with the engine that was installed on the model by driving the original Tavria. Initially, "Dana" was planned to be equipped with a unit with a capacity of 60 horsepower, which was designed for 5 thousand revolutions per minute, but due to some reasons, a car with this engine never entered mass production.

The car belongs to class "B". It has all-wheel drive. The gearbox is mechanical, and the engine is carbureted.

"Pickup"

This car is a modification of the original Dana model. Any buyer could custom-install a soft or hard top (optional), which easily turns the van into a cargo vehicle. The compartment where all the luggage is placed is separated from the driver's and passenger's seats by an ordinary partition with glass. The release of the "Pickup", which is based on the ZAZ Tavria-1102 car, began in 1992 and lasted right up to 2014.

The units installed on the machine had different characteristics regarding the volume: from 1.1 to 1.3 liters.

Most of the details were borrowed from Dana. They differ from each other in the rear bumper, lights of the same part of the car, a window in the partition (in a newer version, a grill appeared on it). "Pickup" received updated side mirrors and an awning that can be installed on the grate of the cargo hold, as well as suspension. Repairing this model, as well as repairing the ZAZ-1102, will not require much time, effort and money. Therefore, such a machine is quite in demand.

THE RISE, THE FALL

Over the years that have passed since the collapse of the Union and the cessation of supplies, the nimble "Tavria" managed to live out their short resource, and the unhurried "Cossacks" are overgrown with dust in garages and are slowly migrating to landfills. Things were no better in Ukraine either - the quality dropped catastrophically, production fell. But in 1998, the AvtoZAZ-Daewoo joint venture breathed new life into the dying plant. The production volumes went up, and the desire to restore the reputation turned out to be so great that they even announced the release of Tavria-Nova. However, by world standards, novelty was hardly even drawn to restyling - it is possible to distinguish between "new" and "old" only at arm's length.

It is more appropriate to talk about correcting shortcomings, improving quality, improving consumer properties - in this sense, the car has really become a cut above. And if so, why not regain lost ground in Russia's gigantic automotive market? Moreover, the gap between the "eyes" and "frets" remained unfilled - the Russian auto industry does not produce B-class urban compacts.

To reduce customs costs, the Nizhny Novgorod Automobile Assembly Plant was established, at six posts of which up to 120 cars per month can be assembled using the SKD method. However, there were problems with sales - out of thirty cars assembled in June-July last year, only ... one was sold in eight months. Even the price reduction from the initial 113 and 118 thousand rubles did not help. (respectively, for "Tavriya-Nova" and "Slavuta") up to 84.5 and 89.9 thousand. Maybe the cars are not worth that kind of money? To decide, let's get to know them better.

ABOUT LOVE

A long time ago I had a blue "eight" - it was she who was remembered when I saw the "Tavria-Nova" ZAZ 1102 17. The same color, silhouette, two large side doors, black "chin" of the bumper, and you can't distinguish at all from behind, even the headlights are the same. Just a little less. Or is it me who grew up? The machine stands high on thirteen-inch wheels, looks lean and dynamic.

Later, the ZAZ 1105 Dana station wagon (now out of production), the ZAZ 1103 Slavuta five-door liftback, the ZAZ 1102 6 and 11024 cargo and semi-truck vans, and the ZAZ 1105 57 pickup were developed.

The drive is front, the engines are 1.1 and 1.2 liter petrol, the gearbox is a five-speed manual.

In the summer of 2002, the first batch of cars was assembled at the Nizhny Novgorod Automobile Assembly
