Increase scooter speed 50cc. How to increase the speed of a scooter on your own

13.06.2019

Most scooter models are produced with a volume of up to 50 cubic meters. cm, so the maximum speed is often limited to 60 km per hour, which is quite low for many scooters. And shortly after purchase new technology you immediately think about the possibility of tuning your scooter and increasing the speed of the scooter to the maximum possible rate. Practice shows that the maximum that can be added is plus 20 km / h, that is, it is quite possible to accelerate an ordinary scooter to 80 km / h. Below are the main ways to tune a scooter and increase its speed to the maximum.

CVT tuning

This is the most efficient and simple way, the variator has a number of design features, but it also has a special limiter in the form of a washer. The first step is to get to the variator, in some models you will have to remove the side plastic. The variator has a belt that transfers thrust from the engine to rear wheel. As a standard, a special small washer should be located above the belt, this is called a speed controller. Its task is to limit the effect of the radius of the belt, which is formed during movement. Accordingly, all tuning consists in removing this washer, in frequent cases it is enough just to knock it down. After testing the maximum speed of the scooter, if you did everything right, scooters up to 50 cubes should receive an increase of +15 km / h.

Also, tuning the variator is possible in the process of completely replacing it with a tuned version, as a rule, this is a sports variator. If desired, you can improve the speed by purchasing a more efficient variator belt. In this case, the speed will be significantly increased, but a slight smoothness will be felt. In other cases, it is enough to slightly increase the speed by changing the rollers of the variator, since they are classified by weight. Installing rollers for speed will add up to +10 km / h.

Tuning and tuning the carburetor on a scooter

This detail is one of the main ones, because the carburetor supplies fuel to the engine and thanks to this, the scooter starts moving. Accordingly, tuning begins with the installation of a more complex carburetor design. To do this, it is enough to install guides on the sides of it, which will increase the speed of the scooter by 5 km per hour. We also recommend that all scooter owners tune the carburetor by setting optimal parameters your scooter will reach its maximum speed correctly.

Scooter exhaust system tuning

The next type of tuning is the removal of the old pipe and the installation of a resonant analogue. Experienced scooters note that such a solution will give the owner of the scooter additional problems, as a little to redo the work of the transmission. Also, this manipulation will increase the maximum speed to plus 10 km / h.

Installing a forced piston on a scooter

If you bought a scooter with a standard cylinder-piston group with a volume of 50 cm3, most likely the best and simplest will be the tuning of the CPG, or rather the replacement of a standard part with a sports one. Many manufacturers produce tuned versions with increased volume, it is possible to buy a 75 cm3 piston, which will give a significant increase in power. Replacement piston group happens in the traditional way, if possible, some parts will have to be replaced in order to withstand the load of the sports CPG. Also, the minus of such manipulation is the inability to replace a certain part, for example, if a piston breaks, it is almost impossible to find it separately.

How to speed up your scooter

In some ways, slightly increasing the speed is possible by removing the limiter, although many scooter owners do this immediately after purchase. With insufficient skills, it is recommended to trust this tuning specialists, otherwise a small oversight will lead to a complete breakdown of your scooter. It will be a little more difficult to increase the speed of a 150cc scooter, because the maximum speed of such an engine will be quite large. But then again, there are a lot of tuned parts that will help you quickly solve the problem. top speed.

Instruction

Remove the restrictor. Limiters in design differ in electronic (limit the speed), mechanical (limit the gear ratio in) and limiters at the inlet and outlet (limit the filling of the cylinder with a mixture). Of course, there are also combined methods. The electronic limiter is hardwired into the ignition switch and cannot be removed. There is only one way out - buy and install a special sports switch with a speed limiter or no limit at all. The first type of switches is preferable, as it protects the motor from damage during excessive spin-up.

Replace muffler. Standard factory from semi-sport scooters (Suzuki Sepia ZZ or Honda Dio ZX) will give a slight increase in engine power without increasing the optimal speed, improve the filling of the cylinder with a mixture, and sharpen the torque characteristic of the motor. Tuning silencers (for example, LeoVinci SP3) will provide up to 20% increase in power, increase optimal speed engine. The use of such pipes involves tuning the variator: install lighter weights and a stiffer return spring into it.

Sports mufflers (LeoVinci ZX) provide an increase of up to 50% of power, significantly increase engine speed and require not only CVT tuning, but also the use of stiffer return springs centrifugal clutch. Or replacing the variator and clutch with sports models. Thus, the removal of restrictions and the silencer can raise the speed to 80-90 km / h and improve the acceleration dynamics.

For a further increase in power, purchase an engine tuning kit. Well-known firms, such as Malossi, Polini, DR, Eurocilindro, produce oversized piston group kits for 50cc scooters. The set consists of a cylinder, a piston with rings and a pin, and a new cylinder head. Installing the kit allows you to increase the engine displacement to standard values 70 and 85 cc with a simultaneous increase in power at nominal or increased speed. Most preferred are nicosil-coated cylinders that withstand high revs providing more power and torque than steel and significantly more durable.

To prepare for the competition, install a tuning kit for the piston group racing class(e.g. Polini Kit Corsa). Engine power will increase tremendously, but will make it unsuitable for normal everyday use due to capriciousness and increased requirements for frequent and expensive service. For example, standard piston rings it is necessary to change after 10 thousand kilometers, and on the Polini Kit Corsa cylinder every 2-3 thousand.

Install the rear gear. Due to the design features of 50cc scooters, a significant increase in engine power does not in itself lead to an increase in maximum speed without changes gear ratio. Therefore, engine tuning should always be accompanied by the purchase of a tuning kit for rear gear(e.g. Gear-Kit). When using the Gear-Kit and the 85 cc tuning cylinder, the standard one is capable of reaching up to 110-120 km / h. When using racing kits - even more.

Engage in tuning the carburetor. 50 scooters are usually fitted with a 12mm or 14mm cone. After installing tuning kits, replace with a sports one (for example, Dell "Orto) with a diffuser diameter of 17 or 18 mm. For racing cylinders, a 22 mm carburetor is required. As a rule, replacing the carburetor is accompanied by replacing the installation elements surrounding it and installing an increased performance filter ( zero resistance)

When buying a 50cc moped for the first time, many people think that its capabilities will be enough for them. But they soon become disillusioned and start thinking about tuning. But not everyone has the money to buy branded kits. How to make tuning on a moped almost without cost?

Instruction

Starting tuning, complete it Maintenance. Clean out the exhaust air filter, adjust , experiment with the rear sprocket. At the end of the break-in period, remove the maximum speed limiters. For already such a “tuning” is enough for a whole season - the device becomes noticeably faster.

In the next step, install a zero resistance filter. This will slightly increase the speed and improve the response of the motor to the turn of the throttle. After installing such a filter, be sure to reconfigure the carburetor. In the presence of special tool and a familiar turner, ream the jet. If none of the above is present, try installing jets from Solex or Weber. They fit without modification for most popular models. Or get the ones you need at motorcycle parts stores.

Do a thorough cleaning exhaust system. To do this, go through the muffler with a blowtorch. Deposits accumulated in it when heated metal surface peel off and come out easily. If you have a welding machine, carefully cut along the seam, clean and weld again. This will give the moped vivacity during acceleration.

Move on to the engine. If it's not new, check the compression. Compression value from 8 to 10 - good indicator. If this value is less, replace the rings. At the same time, avoid putting low-quality Chinese piston rings. Polish the cylinder head and piston top. Also polish the intake and exhaust windows. Attention! IN four-stroke engine in no case do not touch with metal objects do not change the polishing in the places of their contact with the head body. This can lead to engine damage during further operation.

Take care of the sprocket on the rear wheel. If you want to increase the maximum speed, replace it with a smaller one with fewer teeth. At the same time, you will have to sacrifice acceleration dynamics and traction on climbs and under load. To improve traction and acceleration at the expense of top speed, install a large sprocket, with big amount teeth. Together with the work performed on the engine, carburetor and muffler, the performed tuning will allow reaching a maximum speed of up to 70-75 km/h

Typically used on scooters hydraulic drive brake mechanisms requiring periodic pumping. Usually, when air enters the hydraulic drive, the brakes begin to work poorly and even fail, and this is unsafe for movement. Air is eliminated by pumping the brakes of the scooter. It is advisable to perform the operation with an assistant.

The owner of almost any scooter sometimes wonders: how to make him go faster and accelerate more dynamically? For the owner of a Chinese scooter, the word “sometimes” would be more appropriate to replace with “continuously” - it hurts that they accelerate for a long time, and the acceleration result, as a rule, is not impressive. There is a popular belief that there is nothing to be done, China is China. This is not so, the Chinese "fifty dollars" can be dispersed to 90 and even a little more - real speed, while the speedometer can show over a hundred. The dynamics in this case will be at the level of the Japanese type Honda Dio. How to do it?

You need to start with a revision of your engine - what is its cylinder diameter? If 39 mm, then you won’t get a speed of more than 70 km / h, nor decent dynamics from it. Maybe 44 mm, then everything will be fine with speed, but the scooter will not reach dynamics comparable to the Japanese. And, finally, a diameter of 47 mm means that everything is in order here, nothing needs to be done with the CPG. If it becomes necessary to replace the CPG, this operation is described in detail here.

Another option node is the carburetor. He may have air damper(spool) of a simple cylindrical shape or more complex, with a cutout in front and guides on the sides.

The first carburetor has, as a rule, a metal cover, the second always has a plastic one. The first carburetor is less perfect, it cannot work with low resistance. intake tract, which means that you won’t get 3-5 km / h of maximum speed and a little dynamics with this. That is, the question here is whether to replace it with type 2. And if you already have it with a figured spool, everything is fine.

Let's start with the variator. Any tuning begins with the fact that the variator must be removed correctly. To unscrew the nut of its fastening, you need some kind of part, which, being screwed to the crankcase, will fix the gear, for example, like this.

The specific execution may be different, the idea is important: it is the gear that needs to be fixed. Attempting to unscrew this nut while holding the crankshaft by the alternator (some do) is fraught. I also do not advise using impact wrenches in this operation, there have been cases of turning the crankshaft trunnion in the cheek.

The simplest tuning is to replace the weights of the variator with lighter ones. The CVT uses 16x13 weights, Honda. For getting the best dynamics put 6-gram. But still, the standard variator has a narrow range and an uneven transmission characteristic, which leads to a slight dip during acceleration and a shortfall in maximum speed. To realize all the capabilities of the engine, it is better to install a tuning variator, for example, Malossi 51 7484. To install it, you need to make a washer, see the drawing:

The variator is installed with its bushing. The plastic washer and yellow spring included in the kit are not needed in our case. The manufactured washer is placed first, under the variator thrust plate. There are cases when the thrust plate does not fit or fits with difficulty on the shaft. It is not necessary to apply force, it is better to slightly expand the hole in the plate.

In principle, the tuning of the variator can be completed on this, but there remains one more unused reserve - the belt. Due to some reasons that are not completely clear to me, the Chinese complete their engines with shortened belts. Perhaps this is due to the low quality of the belts, and so a reserve is laid for its stretching over time. But with such a belt, the range of the variator narrows.

The 139QMB engine can have two versions: with a short variator, for a 10-inch wheel, and with a long one, for a 12-inch one. For complete confidence count the number of bolts securing the variator cover. If there are 8, the variator is short, if 9 - long.

The factory puts a 669x18 belt in a short variator, but it needs to be 20 mm longer! My opinion is that this is too much, almost a quarter is cut off from the range of the variator. The long variator is set to 730x18, it is shorter than the optimum by 8 mm, this is quite tolerable, but also gives a slight narrowing of the range.

If you have a short variator, then it makes sense to put a 690x18 belt from Suzuki AD100, but only of high quality! After all, there will no longer be a reserve for pulling. I put Mitsuboshi and quite pleased with the result. If you have a long variator, but you still want to replace the belt, put it from Piaggio, 736x18. This belt is good for what it is low-quality fakes does not happen to him.

About cargo. If the variator is replaced simultaneously with the replacement of the piston or on a new engine, then for the period of running-in, put the weights from the variator kit, 7g. At the end of the break-in, if you have a short variator and a native belt, put 6g, in all other cases - 5g. After bringing the variator to the ideal, it makes sense to do the clutch. As a rule, the factory adjustment of the clutch is made at very low speeds, about 3000, as a result, especially with a tuning variator, starting off occurs in two steps: the scooter starts off and barely accelerates, rides 5 - 10 meters, and then picks up. To eliminate this phenomenon, you need to put in clutch reinforced springs, but I, for example, could not find them, although Malossi seems to make them for the Chinese. According to preliminary data, they will fit from Dio G. Another way out is to install the entire clutch board from Honda Dio, it fits like a native. Even with its standard springs, the start becomes noticeably better, and when installing white Malossi, for Dio this is not a shortage, the scooter starts quite well.

If you have a type 1 carburetor, then tuning can be considered complete on this, and if type 2, then it makes sense to tinker with the carburetor a little. Start by revising the air intake path - there should be nothing superfluous. The sleeve in the filter cover, the mesh nozzle at the end of the air hose - remove all this. The filter foam can be replaced with red Malossi. After that, raise the needle by 0.5 - 1 mm, this is done by lining washers (for example, from M2 fasteners) under the needle stop. A sign that you overdid it in this is the operation of the engine "through the cycle" at the start, then lower the needle by 0.25 mm. The plastic cover of this carburetor has a protrusion (pin), on which the membrane spring is mounted, its length is about 20 mm, but 7-8 is needed. Bite off too much. With all these alterations, my Jaling 10 showed a speed of 93 km / h (according to the traffic police radar) and dynamics about the same as the standard Dio 27. It remains to be added that such tuning has practically no effect on the durability of the engine.

By general rules, most scooters are equipped with speed limiters, they help protect the engine and main parts from overload, and therefore from premature wear. But there is a category of owners who are ready to remove such a limiter. In some Chinese scooters, which are brought to the territory of our country, speed and maximum speed limiters are not set. But in models intended for the European market, they are still present, since in Europe the speed for small class scooters is limited to 45 km / h. If on your vehicle there is such a limiter - we remove it without any doubts and we get an increase in speed by 15-30 kilometers per hour.

Factory speed limits

  • The first of these is the installation of a special limiter located in the variator.
  • The second method is to use a special electronic limiter embedded in the switch.
  • The carburetor may also have a special restrictive washer that reduces speed.
  • A catalyst in the muffler is another way to limit overclocking.

The carburetor and muffler are less popular in the area of speed limiting in four-stroke scooters. So meet them, compared to two-stroke engines, will be problematic. On the other hand, you can find models on the market that allow you to put a limiter on several nodes at once.

The appendix shown in the photo is cut off, the hole is welded.

Remove the restrictor bushing.

Yamaha engines with a horizontal design need a separate mention. They are "strangled" both by release and with the help of electronic stuffing. The CPG windows can overlap almost halfway. But even with such blockages, it will not be difficult to squeeze out 70 kilometers per hour. But how to remove the speed limiter on a scooter?

Features of the limitation by the variator

A special plate placed near the weights, or a metal ring installed between the CVT brushes, can act as a limiter. Both the first and the second plug have the same goal - to prevent the brushes from compressing to the end. As a result, the belt cannot reach its maximum radius, thus blocking further acceleration. Interestingly, the engine will gain momentum, but the CVT limiter will not allow it to gain great speed. So that the engine does not suffer from such manipulations, a special limiter is added to the switch. The point is that when maximum speed fuel will not ignite.

Before removing the installed speed limiter on a scooter, you need to acquire tools. A case with screwdrivers and wrenches is the best option.

Disassemble the variator and get rid of the belt along with the gear. A restrictive ring will appear in front of you. It is enough to remove it, and then put the parts in their places.

This is what the ring looks like

We take it off completely.

This is what a variator without a ring will look like

It also happens that the ring was not in this place. In this case, it is necessary to unscrew the inner cheek of the CVT mechanism. WITH outside usually there is a thrust plate under which the weights are mounted. After unscrewing the plate, put the rest of the parts in their places. It is not necessary to mount the plate back on the scooter.

In some cases, scooters are faced with a situation where the CVT ring and plate are missing, while there is still a maximum speed limit. In such a situation, you need to check the bushing. It may contain a protrusion that acts as a ring. There are two options for solving the problem - to purchase new bushing, or ask the turner to grind the ledge. It is important to make sure that the surface is not oversharpened. After grinding the machined node, it is necessary to assemble the variator back.
