Moscow, July 4, 2017 - Serial production of the new generation KIA has started at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus (HMMR) plant in St. Petersburg. In 2016, in preparation for the launch of the production of the fourth generation KIA, the plant carried out a significant re-equipment and thorough preparation of production lines. Thus, new industrial robots were additionally put into operation in the welding shop, the employees of the stamping shop inspected tooling in Korea before it was sent to the Russian plant. Since the design of the new KIA is significantly different from the previous generation, the paint shop staff have reconfigured all paint line robots and noise reduction robots. In the assembly shop, several sections of the conveyor were reorganized. Employees of the quality control department conducted an audit of foreign and Russian suppliers and made proposals for improving the design of a number of components.
