First, about the positive aspects of the Ford Mondeo 5:

- Very good handling both on the track and on the difficult terrain of the road. Apparently thanks to the new "cart" and a decent wheelbase.

- The car accelerates well and makes quick operational maneuvers in urban environments.

Good job all active safety functions when speed mode movement, including braking dynamics.

- Suspension well handles small bumps in the roadway.

— Noise isolation of the car summer tires impressive. Definitely better than most of my classmates. On par with the Passat B8.

- Spacious interior, decent touchscreen, comfortable seats and availability a large number technological "stray" in the configuration of the car.

— Excellent LED head optics! Perhaps one of the best in class among rivals.

- Surprisingly, the consumption of gasoline on the highway when driving from average speed 95 km / h turned out to be as close as possible to the manufacturer's passport data.

- For this class of car, there is sufficient ground clearance for driving in ice rut Moscow courtyards or somewhere in the "outback" on a dead road.

Now for what I didn't like:

— Poor ergonomics of the center console, a pile of small buttons for various purposes. Touchscreen slowness.

- The steering wheel is somewhat overloaded with buttons that regulate the information content of the on-board computer. The on-board computer board itself could be made larger and centered on the display. And so everything is somehow small, like on FM4.

— Wide side racks. You often have to turn your head from side to side when turning.

- On the panels, the plastic is soft, but somewhat rough, not creating a "premium" in the car.

- There is not enough legroom for tall passengers on the back sofa.

Review of the Ford Mondeo 2.0 (199 hp) on the machine 2016 onwards

The new Mondeo has many advantages. First, the smoothness of the ride. It begins with the operation of a hydromechanical machine and starting off. Everything happens smoothly and imperceptibly - as it should in a car of this class. The box works great - no jerks or blunts. Switchings are practically not noticeable, and after a day or two they are not fixed by the brain at all.

Secondly, atmospheric Gas engine 2.5 with a capacity of 149 forces - base motor, which allows this car to go fast when it needs to (and to go fast when it doesn't, strictly speaking, is dangerous). For the money that the Ambiente equipment costs, the 2.5-liter engine is optimal, without causing problems. In addition, such an engine is powered by 92nd gasoline on the recommendation of the manufacturer, which is a plus.

Thirdly, suspension and steering. The suspension is optimally tuned in terms of ride and handling. It handles irregularities with high quality, does not rattle, and does not allow the body to sway. No complaints.

Fourth, high-quality sound insulation. The noise level is very good for its class. Noises are extinguished to the extent that they cease to irritate or strain. The engine is very noisy. Even when it spins up to 6,000 rpm, it sounds quieter than in the same Polo at 3,000 rpm.

What can be noted from the shortcomings?

First, the build quality. After driving on a very rough road, plastic began to creak in some places. In addition, I did not immediately notice that plastic panel, which presses the interior trim on the A-pillar, does this loosely.

Secondly, the speedometer is small in diameter and requires getting used to. At first, I had to look twice, as if to be sure, whether I had exceeded the speed limit. But, again, the force of habit allows you to experience something else.

Thirdly, the ground clearance may be low. Sometimes I crawl with the front bumper on the curbs. There is unpainted plastic underneath and flexible mudguards, so it's not scary yet. But in the winter, perhaps, it will be necessary to be careful.
