Release of one of the most famous cars Chrysler was founded in 1993 by the American automaker. Jeep Grand Cherokee is a mid-size SUV that replaced the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Since its first appearance, Cherokee has managed to radically change the car market for active rest. The model is able to cope with any weather conditions and any kind pavement, including its complete absence. On this moment Cherokee is already in its 4th generation (since 2010). For the entire time of production, the SUV was equipped with gasoline and diesel units.

Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ (1993-1998)

Fuel consumption rate per 100 km

The first generation of the model was produced in Detroit and included 4 complete sets. The appearance was so successful that it did not change for 6 years. Under the hood of the first Cherokee, one could see 4.0, 5.2 and 5.9 liter gasoline engines with capacities from 177 to 240 hp. and average fuel consumption on the highway 11.4-12.7l, in the city - 21-23l. The diesel modification is represented by an 8-valve 2.5-liter unit with 116 hp. (consumption in the city - 12.3l and 7.9 on the highway, maximum speed- 160 km / h).

Real fuel consumption

  • Vladimir, Tula. I bought my diesel monster 2.5d Grand Cherokee in 1998 new. We went through fire and water with him, traveled all over Abkhazia and no breakdowns. More than once pulled out the rest of the drivers. Regarding the consumption, everything is clear here - 10 liters without a load in Tula leaves stably, and in the suburban mode on the "cruise" it comes out about 6-7 liters. Mileage already 350 thousand.
  • Stanislav, Moscow. Ah, there were times. In the late 90s, I went to the Grand Cherokee and could not get enough of it - a classic powerful jeep in which you feel like in a tank. The 4-liter engine (190 hp, AT) coped well with all conditions, while burning about 15-17 liters of fuel in the city and up to 10-12 on the highway. A friend of mine ate the same jeep much more - 23 and 15 liters, respectively.
  • Igor, Voronezh. In 1997, my brother and I took such an SUV in the Orvis configuration. Will pass everywhere, powerful, beautiful and inspires respect. The noise of the power plant with a volume of 5.2 liters and a power of 223 horses during acceleration brings incredible pleasure, for which you then have to pay just as much: 22 liters of gasoline in the city in summer and 24 in winter, but the extra-urban cycle is 2 times less - 12 liters at 150 km /hour.
  • Slavik, Ufa. How I wanted to drive a Cherokee! Bought in 1998 poslerestaylovuyu model ZJ with a 5.9-liter engine on the mechanics. Friends were just jealous. Powerful jeep with a huge expense, but it's worth it. Accelerated to 185 km / h, as much as the spirit stops. In terms of consumption, everything is as expected - 30 liters in the city and 19-20 on the highway at a speed of 180 km / h. At 120 km / h, the indicator on the highway drops to 14.5 liters.
  • Eugene, Saratov. I will also have to praise my "Indian" Grand Cherokee, as he faithfully served for almost 10 years. I bought a jeep in 1999 before the release of the WJ generation. Complete set with a motor 5.2 AT (223 hp). Decent SUV with character. Traveled to places that other models would have fallen apart a long time ago. You can’t call it economical (18 liters on the highway at 120 km / h and 23 on city streets), but such is the price of status. The average consumption, according to my calculations, is around 15 liters per 100 km of road.
  • Victoria, Tyumen. It's weird to see a girl driving a car like that, but that's how I am. Bought a slightly used 1998 Cherokee I. at a friend. Diesel variant 2.5 liters, rather weak engine, but enough for me. The brutal jeep has become a favorite car for 8 years. One of the main advantages is efficiency with such large dimensions. In the urban cycle, 9-10 liters are consumed, but in the country cycle, only 6.5-7 per 100 km / h. I could not disperse more than 155 km / h, but the consumption at this speed is almost 9 liters.
  • Anton, Sochi. Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 AT 1994 Not a car, but just a bomb. But after the 92nd, the 98th benz doesn’t really want to eat, the engine immediately starts to growl. But consumption is decreasing. In the mix, I get no more than 17.5 liters / 100 km. Of these, on the highway at 120-130 km / h, it is consumed within 10.5-11.2 liters. For comparison, the previous car (Forrester) ate 15 liters in a mixture and almost 9 outside the city.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ (1998-2004)

Official Information

The second generation Grand Cherokee has been produced since the summer of 1998 and was very different from the previous one, both externally and in the line of installed engines. Model WJ got 2 already diesel units 2.7 and 3.1 liters (120 and 103 hp) with an average consumption of combined cycle 9.7 and 11.7 liters. The gasoline range of engines consists of 4.0 and 4.7-liter units with capacities from 140 to 198 hp. and fuel consumption of 20.8-22.3l in urban conditions and 12.2-13.0l outside the city.

Owner feedback on consumption

  • Andrey, Moscow. Outwardly, the car only seems small, but inside the Grand is a sea of space. I bought a Cherokee II build in 2000 with a 4.7-liter engine (235 hp) and an automatic transmission - an elegant SUV, nimble and stuffed to the top with electronics. And from the speed even in the seat presses. The consumption of the 95th is almost 20 liters, but this is normal. The track at cruising speed takes exactly 12. Consumption in the combined cycle is slightly higher than 16 liters.
  • Vladimir, Astrakhan. It was difficult to decide which option to choose: diesel or gasoline. As a result, the desire to save on fuel outweighed, and settled on a 2.7-liter configuration. Absolutely everything suits the jeep and its 163 horses are enough even for me. Consumption on the highway - from 7.5 to 8 liters, in the city - in the region of 12-13 liters. The maximum accelerated to 140 km / h, and at this point it takes a little more than 10 liters of diesel.
  • Grigory, Belgorod. For our roads, I did not dare to buy anything other than an SUV. A friend drove cars, so I ordered a 2002 Grand Cherokee with a 4-liter engine (I chose it based on online reviews). I fill in the 92nd and do not understand those who complain about the expense - such a car must be fed with normal gasoline! On the highway, I have 12-14 liters, and on the roads of the city, all 22 are obtained with traffic jams.
  • Michael, Eagle. Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ, 2004 build. We took a car for work, we needed an economical SUV with a presentable appearance. There are no questions about economy at all, since a diesel engine with a volume of 2.7 liters, although on the machine, does not take more than 13-15 liters in the city. In highway mode, the consumption rate is generally ridiculous - 7.5-8 liters per 100 km. The main downside is weak automatic transmission and unreliable electronics.
  • Nikolay, Kostroma. This is my third SUV and, frankly, you can’t call it the best. Big name and popularity do not compensate frequent breakdowns and weak automatic transmission. Consumption is a separate issue altogether. took petrol version 4 liters (190 hp) and was ready for 22 liters of consumption. But the real consumption of 28 liters was a real robbery, especially in winter time when it became almost 30 liters. As a result, I sold the monster, since 16 liters on average, this is clearly not affordable for me.
  • Sergei, Moscow. Diesel Cherokee WJ at one time was very popular with us. Himself in 2003 on such traveled. 2.7-liter engine, low consumption, enough dynamics - I liked everything in the car. I remember that in the 80% city / 20% highway mode in the combined cycle, only 10-11 liters were consumed. Optimal Speed for a jeep - 110-130 km / h, at which about 9 liters per 100 km left the tank.
  • Andrey, St. Petersburg. I became the proud owner of an all-wheel drive Grand Cherokee in 2001, when my father gave away his car for his birthday. Solid build and aggressive exterior make the car stand out in any environment. Under the hood is a 4.7-liter unit with 258 hp. Of course, an SUV consumes more than 17 liters in a mixture, but I rarely drive, so I can sometimes afford to drive at 170 km / h.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK (2005-2010)

Technical data

The WK generation was first shown to the public at the New York Auto Show in 2004. The new model turned out to be more powerful, more beautiful and more aggressive thanks to a redesigned design. From now on, the assembly of the jeep takes place in Austria. Gasoline power plants are represented by units with a volume of 3.7, 4.7, 5.7 and 6.1 liters (power - 210-326 hp, mixed consumption 13.2-15.4l). The diesel range now consists of one 3-liter engine with 218 hp. and an average fuel consumption of 10.2l.

Gasoline and diesel consumption

  • Anatoly, Nizhny Novgorod. I've been running the Jeep Grand Cherokee WK for about a year now. All happy and no complaints. Even fuel consumption suits, despite specifications: 18-20 liters in Novgorod and a maximum of 15 on the highway (speed - 130-140 km / h). Do not believe those who write about 10-12 liters in the city! My equipment: 3.7 AT (210 hp), year of manufacture - 2006.
  • Oleg, Nizhny Tagil. When I heard that the new Cherokee will have a diesel from Merce, I could not let such a car pass by. I took myself such a jeep, discarding all thoughts about the petrol eight, and did not regret it. 3.0 liter engine with AT. On the road - just a fairy tale. Fuel consumption depends entirely on speed, but in urban mode it is almost 13 liters per 100 km. On the highway we have 13 liters per 150 km/h and only 10, if you do not exceed the mark of 100 km/h. Assembly 2005.
  • Viktor, Cheboksary. The Grand Cherokee III showed up in my garage last winter. Bought used with 127,000 miles on it. Diesel engine 3.0 with 217 horses. On frosty days, the average consumption in the city is 17 liters, but in summer the figure drops to 14 liters. The same applies to the track - up to 9 in summer and 10 in winter. A 50/50 mixed cycle equals 11 liters. Year of release - 2006.
  • Bogdan, Sevastopol. I did not think that an SUV could be so strong. I bought myself a 2005 Jeep Cherokee with a 5.7-liter unit and a power of 326 hp. Saying "monster" is an understatement. I accelerated on the highway to 183 km / h, then I was afraid - it's just an incredible feeling. There is no economy, but 25 liters in the city and 17 on the highway (21 liters at high speed) is an adequate price for adrenaline. On average, it takes more than 17 liters per 100 km.
  • Artur, Chelyabinsk. Don't buy a Grand Cherokee if you're going to be monitoring the gas gauge - this Jeep is made for fun. My choice is the 4.7-liter version with 231 hp. and all-wheel drive. As for the real consumption, according to b.k. I see a trail. figures: 17.1-18.8 in the urban cycle in summer and up to 21 in winter (I pour only AI-95). In general, 55 liters can squeeze 340 km.
  • Vitaly, Belgorod. I bought it for my wife, I really wanted an SUV, and then an almost new Cherokee WK with a 2008 diesel 3.0 turned up. Expensive pleasure, but the consumption is not as great as it seemed at first: city / highway - 16.5 / 12.5 liters per 100 km at speeds up to 130 km / h. In principle, everything suits, except for small computer glitches.
  • Eugene, Moscow. Maybe someone will not understand, but at the mere mention of 432 hp. I was unstoppable. And so it appeared in our fleet of Cherokee WK. I will say right away - if you count money, then the car is not for you: 27 liters in the city immediately and 23-24 after a short run-in, driving on the highway at 150 km / h - 14 liters. And this is if only AI-95 is poured. In general, a prestigious jeep for prestigious people.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WL (2010-2013)

Information from the manufacturer

The release of the WL generation began in 2010, although it was first introduced at the New York Auto Show in 2009. The choice of engines has been expanded with a 3.6-liter V6 (286 hp) and, in addition to the 3-liter engine (now 241 hp), also includes an updated unit with a volume of 5.7 liters (352 hp). Powerplants 3.7 and 4.7 are out of production. The average fuel consumption on gasoline engines varies between 16-21.2 liters in the urban cycle and 8.8-10 liters on the highway. The diesel engine in the combined cycle burns 8.3l.

Owners about expense

  • Nicholas, Arkhangelsk. As soon as we had a brand new Cherokee in our cabin, we immediately took an SUV in the Overland configuration with a 3.0-liter engine (241 hp). The consumption of the jeep is minimal - 13.5-14 liters when driving fast through the streets of the city. If you drive along the highway at a speed of under 120 km / h, then 8.0-8.5 liters will come out. If you take an average, then, in principle, you can reach a passport indicator of 10.2 liters. Assembly 2012.
  • Timofey, Volgograd. The Jeep Grand Cherokee WK has been the best purchase I've made in years, an excellent SUV with a reasonable price tag. Naturally, I bought with a 3000 cc diesel to save a little. The car has a lot of advantages over the same Subaru Forrester, but in terms of consumption, it is almost parity. Specifically: for a figure of 10.5 liters on average, I have not yet been able to reach Cherokee. But this is in the summer, and in the winter it comes out no more than 12 liters. The Forrester had 9.8 and 11.7 respectively.
  • Valery, Peter. Not everyone knows, but in the 4th generation the Grand has a version with a 6.4 liter engine and 468 horses. It is sometimes difficult to cope with such a colossus, and the consumption rate for ordinary drivers will seem like a nightmare at all. This did not stop me - I spend 34 liters per hundred in the city and 21-25 liters on the highway, depending on the speed. I'm not going to complain - I can afford such a car. Assembly 2012.
  • Aristarkh, Yekaterinburg. 2011 Grand Cherokee Generation 4. Took the 3.6 liter option for the family. I see only shortcomings in skidding on corners - it is very dangerous, you need to slow down to a minimum. In terms of appetite - 13-14 liters of consumption in Yekaterinburg. Like the growl of the engine and the feeling of freedom on the track. There, the engine eats 10 liters per 130-140 km / h and up to 8 per hundred.
  • Stepan, Kharkov. All doubts about the purchase disappeared after a test drive. Even a huge expense could not convince - now this miracle is in my garage. I took the model of 2011 release, I have already traveled 100 thousand. The car cost 1.5 million at the dealer. On open roads and average speed it turns out 17 liters, in loaded ones - 18.5-19. But that's why he's an SUV to eat a lot. Combined cycle - 11.4 liters.
  • Pavel, Urengoy. Cherokee 3.6 liters I have owned for six months. I'm not happy, but I can't complain either. In winter, 11.5-12.0 liters were spent on the highway (I squeezed no more than 110 km / h so that there were no drifts), and in the city from 20 to 27 liters were spent (frequent short trips, traffic jams, warm-ups, traffic lights). In summer, these figures are one-third less. Before the Cherokee, there was a CR-V, so there the range of winter consumption ranged from 18 to 24 liters per 100 km.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WL (since 2013)

Features of the restyled version

Early 2013 Chrysler Group LLC showed the world a restyled Grand Cherokee model. Changes were noted in the appearance of the car and its equipment. Now, a new 8-speed automatic transmission is installed on all Grand Cherokee jeeps, and under the hood there are 3.0, 3.6 and 5.7-liter gasoline engines with 238, 286 and 352 (360) hp. and an average consumption of 10.2, 10.4 and 14.1 liters, respectively. Diesel plant only one - with a volume of 3.0 liters for 243 hp. All configurations are all-wheel drive.

Evaluating an SUV by saving fuel costs is somehow illogical. If so, by definition, it must be equipped with a powerful engine with significant fuel consumption. This is first. And secondly, diesel engines are more economical than gasoline engines. equal power, and it makes no sense to put them in the same row. But nevertheless, on fuel economy are compiled by experts at various levels and in different countries.

Assessment of German experts

Experts of the AutoUncle analytical center, taking as a base more than one and a half million cars sold in Germany, compiled a list of the most economical SUVs and crossovers. Cars not older than 2008 were taken into account, only with diesel and gasoline engines. There was no mention of hybrids.

The Germans did not determine the most economical SUV in terms of fuel consumption, because the first ten places were occupied by compact crossovers, which was to be expected. And both the first and last place got Renault Captur. The first with a flow rate of 3.6 liters is for the diesel version, the tenth with a flow rate of five liters is for the gasoline version.

Moreover, the engines of the same power, only 90 liters. with., differ only in volume - 0.9 and one and a half liters on gasoline and on diesel fuel respectively.

The conclusion can be made unequivocal: the most economical will be real SUV if the fuel consumption indicator approaches 5 liters per 100 km.

Hybrid SUV

In 2015, a hybrid version of the Outlander PHEW appeared in Russia. The power of its gasoline engine is as much as 160 "horses". The manufacturer claims that this is the most economical SUV in terms of fuel consumption (gasoline is saved in the amount of at least 1.6 liters per hundred kilometers by charging the car from the electrical network). Well, one of the most economical.

If, with the same mass, a two-liter gasoline engine of an SUV with a capacity of 146 liters. With. consumes more than 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers in mixed mode, then the engine of its hybrid counterpart with the same displacement and power of 118 liters. With. - already less than five and a half liters.

Rating of SUVs on diesel fuel

Since diesel engines consume less fuel than gasoline ones, SUVs with such engines top the rating.

The most economical SUV in terms of fuel consumption (diesel) - Renault Duster. The 90-liter 1.5-liter (and in the new restyled model - 109 hp) diesel engine shows fuel consumption of about five liters on a smooth road. In urban conditions, of course, more, but also better than many.

The second is in the ranking of Nissan X-Trail NEW. Many fans will call it the best. grams per 100, but an engine of almost the same volume develops 130 hp. With. and more than 300 Nm of torque at the same rpm as the Duster. This is a full-fledged, powerful enough SUV.

Next on the list are Ford Kuga with a 150 hp 2.0-litre engine. With. and a six-speed manual gearbox with 5.5 liters, Ssang Young Actyon with a capacity of 149 liters. With. and 5.7 liters and Skoda Yeti, which is difficult to call an SUV, but with all-wheel drive and a turbodiesel, it looks decent and shows a fuel consumption of 6.3 liters per 100 km.

Budget French SUV

Actually, Duster is a budget small crossover weighing less than 1.4 tons with a poor basic configuration, but with very good off-road qualities. Fully independent at 1750 rpm, a torque of 250 Nm, a high ground clearance of more than two hundred millimeters and short overhangs allow French car confidently go off-road.

To call the most economical SUV in terms of fuel consumption the best would be a clear exaggeration. After all, the maximum speed to which a hundred-strong SUV with a six-speed manual can accelerate is 167 km / h. Up to 100 km / h, the acceleration time is more than 13 seconds. Starting off, he covers the first kilometer in 35 seconds.

Rating of SUVs on gasoline

The most economical petrol SUVs in terms of fuel consumption are the Citroen C4 Aircross with an average of less than 6 liters with a 117 hp 1.6 MT 2WD power plant. s., then Mitsubishi ASX, whose engine consumes a little more than 6 liters with the same parameters, which the Mazda CX-5 lags behind, Opel Mokka and Nissan Qashqai.

Mazda CX-5 consumes more gasoline, but the engine is two-liter, its power is already 150 hp. s., a torque of 210 Nm is achieved at 4 thousand rpm. The dimensions of the Mazda are about the same as those of the leader of the rating, but the ground clearance is already quite off-road - 215 mm. And it is up to the driver to decide whether saving 300 g of fuel per 100 km of road is worth such a tangible loss of power and other advantages of the car.

Opel Mokka, which consumes a little more than six liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers, is available in an all-wheel drive version, unlike the first three. The engine, whose volume is 1.4 liters, develops a power of 140 liters. With. at a torque of 6 thousand revolutions per minute. The maximum torque is 200 Nm. With a slightly smaller size, he has almost 20 cm.

Nissan Qashqai with a two-liter engine with 140 hp. With. and the minimum consumption of gasoline for the Kashkaev line of 6.4 liters is supplied in a front-wheel drive version.

SUV "Citroen"

The most economical SUV in terms of fuel consumption (gasoline) C4 Aircross consumes less fuel than other models, but it cannot boast of remarkable performance either. Its curb weight is less than 1.3 tons, length - 4.3, width - 1.8, height - 1.6 m, ground clearance - 0.17 m. Citroen accelerates to 183 km / h, 100 km / h reaches in 11.3 seconds. This is with good off-road performance and not very torquey engine. The maximum torque - only 154 Nm - can be achieved at 4 thousand rpm.

In the all-wheel drive version, more like an SUV, a two-liter engine with 150 hp is installed. With. A torque of approx. 200 Nm is achieved with just a little high speed. Citroen accelerates to a speed of under 190 km / h, it manages to reach 100 km / h in almost 11 seconds. But the consumption of gasoline in the combined cycle is already 8 liters.

That is, for SUVs with gasoline engines, fuel consumption depends more significantly on engine power than for their diesel counterparts, and hence off-road qualities Same.

Real SUVs

An analysis of the most economical ones, if we talk about the fuel consumed, especially gasoline, shows some stretching of the results. Whatever one may say, but the most economical ones are, strictly speaking, not SUVs, but cars with good cross-country ability. If we go from the opposite, then from the line of the best five real ones, high cross, you can choose the most economical SUV in terms of fuel consumption in Russia, that is, one whose price does not reach sky-high heights.

The top five inexpensive strong jeeps are Korean Ssang Yong Kyron, Chinese Great wall hover H3 Japanese Suzuki Jimny and two domestic jeep, which are not found practically in private use, perhaps in vain - UAZ Patriot and Hunter.

On domestic SUVs The manufacturer does not provide official data on fuel consumption, but, according to reviews, it is very high.

If we separately take the weakest diesel and gasoline engine modification with the least expense fuel, it turns out that the best is the small "Japanese" Suzuki Jimny with a gasoline engine and manual transmission. It consumes 7.3 liters of fuel per 100 km. Even the diesel Ssang Yong Kyron lags behind with a fuel consumption of a little less than eight liters.

Technical characteristics of SUVs

Small, angular, four-seater, with three doors, but the most economical SUV in terms of fuel consumption, Suzuki with a length of a little more than 3.5 m, a width of 1.6 m and a weight of about a ton boasts a ground clearance of 19 cm. gasoline, the volume of which is 1.3 liters and the power is 85 liters. With. at six thousand revolutions per minute, and a torque of 110 nm, the "Japanese" consumes 6.2 liters on the highway, and in the city - more than 9 liters of fuel per 100 km.

Larger in all respects, both geometric and technical, except for clearance, the more comfortable and equipped Korean Kyron with a two-liter diesel engine with 140 hp. With. (4000 rpm) and a five-speed manual gearbox consumes an average of 7.8 liters of diesel fuel. But the maximum moment is already 310 rpm, the maximum speed is 167 km / h.

The question of which SUV is the most economical in terms of fuel consumption is easy to answer, if you do not take into account any other parameters and characteristics of the car. When you need this, no doubt important criterion compared with the desired machine data, it becomes much more difficult to answer it. Therefore, every driver who wants to buy an SUV must make for himself a whole list of the advantages and disadvantages of a car that he is ready to put up with.

Real fuel consumption reviews of the Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 4.0

  • Kirill. Ufa. I have been riding my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ for almost ten years. What can I say, the car is just made for off-road. It easily overcomes the most difficult obstacles, leaves the washed-out holes and climbs the steepest slopes. Driving a car brings only positive emotions. To be honest, today I already regret a little that I sold this SUV. My fuel consumption turned out as according to my passport: 23 liters - the city, from 11 liters on the highway.
  • Nikita. Moscow. I have a 1995 Cherokee. Despite its considerable age, the car works like clockwork. The main thing is to carry out repairs and maintenance in a timely manner. Today I mainly use an SUV for fishing and hunting trips. As for me, the best off-road car has not yet been invented. Gasoline consumption in the combined cycle is 15 liters.
  • Denis. Ufa. Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ with a 4-liter engine bought from a neighbor at a ridiculous price. I ride this “monster” today and am very pleased with how this car works. Stable, despite the dimensions is very maneuverable, dynamics on highest level, and the degree of patency pleasantly surprises to this day. As for repair and maintenance, this pleasure is certainly not cheap, but I think it's worth it. As for consumption, it is not small - 23 liters in the city and from 15 on the highway.
  • Konstantin. Permian. Your 1995 Grand Cherokee Bought from a work colleague. The car was sold urgently, so I got it at a very good price. Today I use this SUV only for trips to the country and winter hunting. I am very pleased with the car and I think that at present it is very difficult to find an SUV with the same characteristics. I repair my “monster” myself, so it comes out relatively inexpensively. Fuel consumption in the urban cycle is 23-24 liters.
  • Alexander. Peter. 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4-liter gasoline engine, I bought it exclusively for extreme driving in off-road conditions. The car served faithfully for ten years, after which he decided to sell it. The car is just great, hardy, stable, with a high degree patency and safety. As for consumption, it is, of course, not the smallest, but I think this is not surprising for a car of this class. I basically got 23-24 liters in the city and 15 on the highway.

Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 5.2

From 1992 to 1999, Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ SUVs were equipped with a gasoline naturally aspirated engine volume 5.2 l. This 221-horsepower engine, developing a torque of 400 Nm, was aggregated with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel consumption Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 5.2. Reviews

  • Dmitriy. Moscow. 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ I got from my father. Huge SUV was my first car than I am to this day, very pleased. The car is durable, easy to control and stable. As for the degree of patency, it is at the highest level. The car is easily selected from any swamps and never fails. I do my own repairs so it's cheap. Fuel consumption is 21-22 liters in the city and from 12.5 on the highway.
  • Alexander. Stavropol. SUV bought from a colleague at work. Machine made in 1995 I got it in excellent condition. Today I use cars mainly for trips with my family to the country and to country picnics. Several times I had to drive on blurry off-road and the impressions from this were only positive. The machine easily passes where the tractor can also load. Concerning good work the main nodes, if you monitor the condition of the car, then there will be no problems even on the longest trip. Consumption is certainly not small but I think it's worth it. I get somewhere around 21 liters in the city and 13 on the highway.
  • Oleg. Peter. Grand Cherokee with a 5.2-liter gasoline engine is a real "monster" that is not afraid of any roads or their complete absence. I tested my SUV in various conditions and was completely satisfied with how he coped with the tasks. The car for one or two is selected from any pits and swamps and never fails even on the longest trips. • Vitaly. Astrakhan. As for me, the Grand Cherokee 5.2 is a car designed specifically for moving through the most impassable terrain. I drive my SUV for fishing and hunting in any weather and never worry about what I can “load” in some wilderness. • Timur. Izhevsk. I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee ten years ago and have never regretted it to this day. The car is just great! Stable, agile, playful and easy to manage. The interior is spacious and completely noiseless, there is everything necessary for the comfort and safety of passengers and the driver. Of course, for all the time I had to change almost half of the "native" spare parts and completely sort out the chassis, but I think this is not surprising. My fuel consumption is as follows: city - 21 liters, highway - 13 liters.

As for the correct operation of the main components, I personally did not have serious breakdowns, and I fixed the minor ones on my own. Grand Cherokee is such a car, when driving on which you will absolutely not care where to go, any off-road can handle it, in the city you will feel not only comfortable, but also solid. You will find everything in this car! For hunters, fishermen and lovers of country adventures, this car is the perfect unit! Of course, he is specific, the care and love of the owner is important to him, then he will always reciprocate. If you feel a dismissive attitude towards the car, you will also receive a response. There should be no love for the branded, concise, spacious interior. Yes, it's hard plastic, it looks rough, so be it! This is a sign of brutality and the fact that you are going to conquer the most impenetrable thickets. Warm feelings should be shown to the driving performance of a car on any type of surface, then you will definitely enjoy your Jeep Grand Cherokee! I consider the powerful engine to be the main advantage of this car. I won’t even write anything about the minuses, absolutely EVERYTHING suits me in it! Recommendations: HBO does not hurt, install it.

Great machine! True, excellent! Outwardly solid, everyone is already giving way to the run. It is also comfortable inside, although there are no claims for luxury. But everything is done with high quality and conveniently, I especially liked the comfortable seats, just like on a home sofa. For an SUV, the suspension is very comfortable, bumps are almost not felt. Shumka is also good, sheer driving pleasure. Pros: Comfortable ride, solid appearance, economical engine, good cross-country ability, reliable. Cons: Very sensitive to the quality of diesel fuel. If you want to take the Grand, evaluate the diesel engine, very good.

I bought myself a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L. With the Limited package, I have already dashed off 20 thousand km. The suspension of this car causes strange feelings, all the time it seems that it needs repair. Before that, I also had a Jeep Grand Cherokee, so it didn’t overshadow me with anything like that. In general, of course, it drives briskly along the highway, only if the road is uneven, then such terrifying jumps begin. This car is not for Russian winters. Frosts are -35 - it is generally impossible to drive a cold car in such weather. If the engine warms up badly, the car may stall right while driving !!! (I'm not kidding!). Acceleration, braking, stopping, 4 thousand rpm appear on the tachometer, turn the steering wheel and understand that the car has stalled. Maybe I'm so lucky?! Replaced the sensor - the picture is the same. It seems to me that off-road trips are dangerous for the loss of the insides (with such and such a suspension). Where the Forester pulls off-road at 80 km / h, mine crawls at 40 km / h. But if the highway is good, then here and at 150 km / h you can rush. In the city, the car consumes up to 25 liters, if not driven, then 15 liters. It's nice that the car does not eat oil. After the rain, you can hear the squeaks of the rubber bands in the suspension, most likely there are problems in the stabilizer bushings, I have been waiting for 10 months for them to be brought! The level of service can only be called ridiculous. On weekends, the service station does not work at all, it’s nice, isn’t it? On off-road, it performs well, but because of the front spoiler and low thresholds freedom is a little limited. In general, a good car, I'm glad I bought it, but I still can't get used to such behavior on bumps, I just didn't expect it. If you want to buy such a car, be sure to give it a good test drive. I've been driving mine for about a year now and don't plan to sell it.

I immediately changed fluids, consumables, examined, etc. Among the stocks, there were only scratches. Everything worked perfectly. What we like: The 4.7 engine is something!!! Despite the volume, it works very quietly. Consumption - 4.7 wants to eat and eats, in the city and 19, and 20, and 23 happens in traffic jams. ON the track 16 liters, if you turn on the gas, let the children talk about 13 at night. If you press the pedal hard, it presses into the seat))) Shumka in the cabin — 5+, with the windows up you can talk in a whisper! Appearance — real brutal! I have a fabric interior, it does not creak, it is convenient, comfortable, roomy (especially if the seats are expanded), the trunk is large. There are also a lot of pockets for small things. For full-time music is very much! Now driving performance- if there are no large potholes on the track, then 5, and if they are still there, then it shakes (the suspension is harsh), but this is not passenger car. Holds the road well, even in a rut does not throw. There are almost no side flares. You shouldn’t meddle on a big off-road, even in Goodrichy you shouldn’t. Across the field, wet sand, loose snow crawl in appropriate footwear. My service comes out cheaper than a Chevy Niva. Unofficially serviced by the official))) Consumables are all available and inexpensive. This machine is honest. workhorse, if you constantly take care of it, it will always take you home. They don’t cut it on the road, on the contrary, they give way (even Prada and Lexus), it pleases! I’m happy with my car.

Good time everyone! I bought myself new Grand with a 5.7 liter engine. I don’t particularly talk about dynamics, tick is clear that this is just a beast. In active mode, fuel consumes about 29 liters per hundred, with a quiet ride 20-22 liters in the city, 15 liters on the highway. He also likes to eat oil in the active mode. Reliability: practically nothing broke (the bulbs in the dashboard burned out, the rear lock of the left door jammed, the battery sat down, because the climate relay broke and the stove warmed all night). There were misunderstandings with the radio, but everything went by itself. In general, the main problems with electronics, mechanics does not fail. The ride is comfortable: a smooth ride, almost no rolls, visibility is normal (although you need to get used to the A-pillars first). There is a lot of space for the driver (at 75 kg and 180 cm tall, I am very comfortable). Patency: can do a lot, but the main thing here is not to overdo it. Didn't make any changes, just changed tires. Very happy with the car. It's not a shame to drive around the city, and it will pass to the lake through the forest. Subjective opinion: ZHYP should remain ZHYP until the end)))) and that one has a slight bias under a simple suv. That's all!

So I decided to write about my 3.0 crd. I have already read all sorts of PASSIONS everywhere ... I think that this is the most outstanding SUV of all, this is just an armored personnel carrier !!! It’s just a HURRICANE on the highway, it accelerates to hundreds in 9 seconds, with cruise control at 120 km / h, the consumption is 10.5-10.7. The gearbox and motor are from MERCEDSA and that says it all… Expenses: spare parts and consumables are very cheap (when compared with Pradik, it is half the price). Somehow, at -23, the battery froze, warmed it up, fully charged it, and then drove it for 7 months. A tank of 83 liters, overcame up to 830 km, there was still diesel fuel. It rides great on the sand, at first it seems to dig in, it doesn’t go, then it cracks, the locks turn on, it jumps out with a jump))) In the mud - no problem, it will also pull out others. diesel engine as if whispering, it works very quietly, handling is good, maneuverability is even better. I advise everyone, you just need to know where to buy what. There is only ONE drawback - I easily drive along the highway, through mud, on sand - I stumbled the crosses on the universal joints, I thought that I got on the headstock, since they change together with the universal joint. It turned out that the front one costs 10,800 rubles, the rear one costs 21 thousand rubles - ORIGINAL!!! Delivery in 3 days!!! I think that he travels and will travel ...

Today, jeeps are gaining popularity in the city, although they are most designed for off-road driving. One of the attractive Cherokee models is the premium SUV line of crossovers. Therefore, the fuel consumption of the Grand Cherokee deserves special attention. The model belongs to the cars of the highest segment of jeeps.

The Cherokee comes in three trim levels:

  • Laredo;
  • limited;

In all models, the gearbox and engine are identical. But there is a big difference in equipment and functionality. Owners of wonderful Grands should know that these cars have an unprotected place - fuel tank. Since over time, due to the protection feature, external corrosion may occur on the lower stamping of the tank and problems with fuel consumption.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV is equipped with petrol and diesel engines. According to reviews, such a powerful model copes with any off-road, while you feel comfort and satisfaction.

All models are all-wheel drive and equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. V arrangement cylinder sets remarkable power, but also consumes a lot of fuel. According to the characteristic fuel consumption on the Jeep Grand Cherokee in urban conditions is 13.9 liters. With a combined cycle, the fuel consumption of the Grand Cherokee per 100 kilometers is 10.2 liters.

History of configuration changes Grand Cherokee

The first generation appeared back in 1992, and in 1993 it became the first representative in its class with a V8 engine. Represented gasoline engines by 4.0, 5.2 and 5.9 liters, and the average fuel consumption outside the city is 11.4-12.7 liters, in the city - 21-23 liters. The diesel configuration is represented by an 8-valve 2.5-liter with 116 hp. (consumption in the city - 12.3l and 7.9 outside the city).

In 1999, the first update of the model took place, which brought a fairly large difference from the previous one from the outside and from technical side - installed engines. Cherokee WJ got two diesel engines by 2.7 and 3.1 liters (120 and 103 hp), and the average consumption was 9.7 and 11.7 liters. Configuration gasoline engines 4.0 and 4.7-liters, and the cost of gasoline on the Grand Cherokee was 20.8-22.3 liters in the city and 12.2-13.0 liters on the highway.

In 2013, a new model appears - the Grand Cherokee. She is not only attractive appearance but also completeness. After all, all Grand Cherokee crossovers have the latest 8-speed automatic transmission. Looking into the middle, we will see gasoline 3.0, 3.6 and 5.7-liter engines, the power was 238, 286 and 352 (360) hp. and the average gas mileage on the Grand Cherokee in the city was 10.2, 10.4 and 14.1l. There is only one diesel configuration - a volume of 3.0 liters for 243 hp. Models are equipped with all-wheel drive.

A unique update in 2016 - Eco Mode. They use technologies that preserve combustibles, and allow it to be used very efficiently.

The remarkable attitude of the designers to the level of fuel and oil consumption deserves praise, because the Cherokee SRT is a completely uneconomical crossover. But it ranks first in terms of horsepower among similar cars.

Model Grand Cherokee SRT 2016, designed for fast driving, equipped with an engine - with a volume of 6.4 liters, power 475 hp. Real consumption fuel on the Grand Cherokee is surprising: 10.69 liters per 100 km in urban conditions, the fuel consumption rate of the Grand Cherokee on the highway is 7.84 liters per 100 km with a turbodiesel engine and 18.09 liters per 100 km in the city, 12.38 liters per 100 km outside the city for very powerful model with a V-8 engine.
