IF concept. Chinese car similar to BMW X6

IF concept. Chinese car similar to BMW X6

In 2011, a Chinese car similar to the BMW X6 made quite a splash. It was promised to be presented to the world on April 19 of that year. A week before this date, all automotive world with excitement I was looking for information about the new product and was looking forward to the Shanghai Motor Show. The novelty even managed to get the nickname “Chinese BMW X6” among journalists, its spy photos were posted on the Internet, and a variety of rumors roamed among motorists about the alleged engine compartment stuffing.

Interest was fueled by the fact that the company developed the model Great Wall , which is considered the most successful among Chinese competitors, and its products are almost the most reliable and beloved, both in their homeland and in many countries, including Russia.

Chinese car, similar to the BMW X6 is named IF Concept. Its appearance (then - judging by the photos and reviews automotive specialists) was so reminiscent of the world-famous deutsche mark, which begs the obvious question of plagiarism to the designers of this Chinese miracle. Only, judging by the promises of the manufacturer, the car should have cost an order of magnitude cheaper compared to BMW. What came out of all this, and how did the promising announcements end? But first, a little about the car itself.

Appearance and dimensions

Describing the look of the IF Concept is basically a thankless task - just look at a photo of the BMW X6 to get a pretty good idea of what the Chinese imitation looks like. However, corrosive journalists found out that according to Concept dimensions different from the prototype. In length, it exceeds the original by 15.3 cm, in height - by 15. But the width of the brainchild of Great Wall is 52 mm less than the Bavarian.

Wheelbase IF Concept reaches 3,075 millimeters, while BMW company puts a base of 2,933 millimeters on its super popular model. However, all these details general view do not have a strong effect: in most cases, the appearance of a Chinese car, almost exactly, repeats the outlines of the BMW X6.

And what's under the hood?

Just technical filling kept in the strictest confidence by the manufacturer. In open promises, airbags numbered 6, xenon in headlights, LEDs in rear lights, automatic climate control and three zones and access to the interior without a key. In general, all relying bells and whistles

When launching into the series, it was supposed to equip the IF Concept with two types of engine (both gasoline, diesel and were not observed in the plans):

  • 2-liter, turbocharged;
  • 3-liter, 6-cylinder, V-shaped.

Front-wheel drive was promised in both versions, the box is exclusively a 6-speed automatic. For Chinese cars, such indicators can be considered simply magnificent: most often they even put weak engines on crossovers.

Results

All this is good or bad, but the Chinese idea to surpass one famous German mark, obviously, has remained in the recent past. In the future, things somehow went wrong, and the Chinese car, similar to the BMW X6, did not go into the series.

The Shanghai Motor Show showed off a huge variety of more interesting versions from other manufacturers: electric Emgrand EC7 EV from Geely Nissan's Compact Sport Concept (a sporty yet budget hatchback), Subaru's XV Concept urban SUV dubbed the crossover of the future, space A-Class proposed by Mercedes.

Journalists argued and dispersed, auto experts did not treat the model with due attention ... And the Chinese themselves, apparently, according to the results of the Shanghai Motor Show, began to guess that the practice of copying other people's ideas had ceased to justify itself. And the outlines of well-known models will not give the cars either originality or, moreover, workmanship.

Still, it is necessary to produce different from the known forms that can interest a potential buyer. And in 2014, Great Wall rehabilitated itself by offering the world its own idea - haval coupe concept 2015. There is nothing borrowed in the outlines of the model, although some generalized tendencies are visible.

In general, we can say that it is also close to the BMW X6 (but not in terms of external similar contours), since Pierre Leclerc participated in its development, who just proposed the design of the famous Bavarian.

Original VS copy. TOP 10

To be honest, few people believed in the Chinese auto industry about 10 years ago. After all, earlier they not only produced clone cars of models famous brands, but the quality of the buckets left much to be desired. From last illness the Chinese are successfully getting rid of and are beginning to reach the level of quality of world automakers, by the way, it helps in many ways that they, without bothering, buy factories, licenses and technologies in their entirety, for example, Volvo (the Geely concern bought from American Ford Swedish Volvo in 2010) or MG (since 2007).

But not everyone can get rid of the temptation of the first ailment - the love of imitation of the famous. For example, Great Wall models often look like cars from Toyota, Nissan; Lifan likes to be inspired by Chevrolet and BMW. The Chinese generally idolize BMW - at least they will borrow something ... Therefore, Chinese auto products, by the way, are quite popular in last years in the markets of the CIS, Asia, Africa, the attitude remains biased.

Is it worth it to be so skeptical? Let's find out who looks like whom, and why?

In general, the love of making copies probably came to the Chinese when they captured the world of sneakers and technology. But over time, instead of mending the familiar and beloved by everyone “Abibas”, “Adibas”, Pawasonic, they decided to raise the bar - to make cars. And in this case, as in the case of sneakers, they did not bathe - they licked off the designs of models of other cars. But their works were cheap, and from the original brothers there was only a similarity in appearance. As for the materials of manufacture, technology, safety - all this left much to be desired. The appearance of the Chinese shocked the Europeans and the Japanese - in many "Chinamobiles" they recognized the features of their developments.

And although there are quite a few examples, so to speak, stolen, few have sued the Chinese. The reason is that their legislation is such that it will protect its manufacturer to the last and by any means, by hook or by crook, will get the “copiers” dry out of the water. For example, about ten years ago, the guys from Honda discovered a Chinese clone of their CR-V. "Double" from Shuanghuan Automobile cost three times cheaper than its original, and the Japanese began to resent this. But the State Intellectual Property Office of China found a loophole - in the court decision they wrote that Honda's patent for the CR-V design had already expired, so there could be no claims, "we don't know anything."

Another well-known precedent is the scandal with the BMW X5 clone named Shuanghuan SCEO. The Bavarians were outraged by such impudence and were able to ensure that the German court banned the sale of Chinese cars of this brand in Germany. And in Italy, the Chinese still won a similar trial and sold their zakos under X5 there.

Well, let's see our selection - originals VS Chinese copies. Who looks like whom and why?

It is often called the Chinese BMW 5. Outwardly and in the interior trim of the M2, there are many elements similar to the “five”. Is it worth it to roll a barrel that they stole the design? No! The thing is that Briliance does everything honestly. Their cars have been assembled at the same plant with sedans of the 3rd and 5th series in the city of Shenyang (in the northeast of China), since 2003. BMW has been cooperating with Brilliance Automotive Holdings Limited for 11 years (has more than 50% of the shares of the Chinese concern) and speaks of this manufacturer as a very reliable partner. They have several joint factories, they make BMW cars for the Chinese market at their facilities, and in various models from Briliance, you can catch the noble notes and motives (and this is done with the permission of the partner shareholder).

As for the M2, this is a mid-range bucket, not only more modest in size, but also very far from the BMW 5 in terms of dynamics and handling.

We have already talked about this car. And the Bavarians tried to sue the Chinese. And some experts note that SCEO is simultaneously similar to the BMW X5 or X3, there is inspiration from the Toyota Prado in the exterior, and inside from Mitsubishi Pajero Sport or Isuzu Rodeo.

The creators of BYD F6 proudly declare that the exterior and interior of their business sedan is the result of the work of their own studio. They say, "We didn't look anywhere." There are no claims from other automakers to the F6, but there are similarities with other premium cars. And most of all BYD F6 looks like a Camry, agree. Just look at the optics! And in the trunk and taillights, the Chinese can be recognized Mercedes S-class. Inside, this car is a mix of Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

For this similarity, GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co filed a lawsuit against Chery Automobile Co in 2004. During the trial, it turned out that Matiz and QQ have a lot of interchangeable components. For example, Matiz doors fit QQ model and QQ hood fits Matiz. GM Daewoo's intent in suing was to stop by Chery sales of the QQ model in China and a ban on the export of QQ to other countries. Well, as you can see, QQ-shki have not disappeared anywhere.

Technically, by the way, the machines are completely different; engines, despite almost the same volumes, QQ has its own, native, domestic ones.

Well, it looks like, and it looks like, no one dealt with these. Although even from the photo it can be noted that the implementation of the China version is cheaper and simpler.

This Chinese borrowed a lot from the Mazda 3 and Mazda 323. And he has every right to do so! The fact is that Chinese and Japanese corporations work closely together. Haima 3 is, as it were, a cheaper version of the Mazda 3. Here, even the badge on the grille looks like a Japanese “seagull”. And not easy. Translated from Chinese, Haima, like Mazda from Japanese, means “seagull”.

As you already understood, Shuanghuan loves to make copies. In 2007, the Shuanghuan City Mini minicar appeared (aka Shuanghuan Noble, Shuanghuan Bubble, Martin Motors Noble, Martin Motors Bubble) and representatives of Mercedes-Benz tried to sue this company and stop sales of copies Smart ForTwo in Europe. After all, the Chinese also brought this creation to the Frankfurt Motor Show, so that everyone would check it out! Mercedes-Benz executives were shocked and stated in an interview that "City Mini is a vulgar copy of a cult product that is intellectual property." Even German Chancellor Angela Merkel was aware of the matter. Some time after the scandal at the car show, she visited China. There, she spoke at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and called the Chinese propensity to copy " big problem» for economic partnership. “If suddenly you see a car that looks like Smart, and then it turns out that in fact it is a copy produced not quite legally, this is very bad,” Ms Merkel said diplomatically.

But the matter was somehow hushed up ...

Here, too, there were no trials, and even the Chinese manufacturer has repeatedly noted that their creation is much better than the American Hummer.

In the city stream, a fleeting glance can be indistinguishable. Motives from the “mini” are present on the 320th, but if you look closely, there are many differences: the shape of the headlights, much larger overhangs, other body panels, five doors, it looks more massive ... The manufacturers themselves say that the Lifan 320 is more like Japanese than European cars, so they don't see the resemblance to the Mini. And you?

In 1999, Chery licensed the Toledo chassis from Seat. Seat Toledo, which, in turn, is a descendant Volkswagen Golf, produced in Spain and Mexico. Hence the similarities between Chery Amulet and Seat Toledo.

There are many such examples. In general, everything that is done is done in China (popular wisdom says).

The Chinese crossovers of the novelty of 2017-2018 were replenished with the new Dongfeng X5 SUV, and in our review of the photo, price and equipment, the technical characteristics of the Dong Feng X5. Official premiere stylish car took place as part of the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2016 under the hard-to-pronounce name Dongfeng Fengxing Jingyi X5. Modern China is an amazing country. Only they produce clones for every global brand.

The Chinese did not miss automotive market. Under the guise of their own developments, they exactly copy the design of world manufacturers, and sometimes they make an analogue, however, with their own name.

Consider well-known fakes among popular European and Japanese brands.

Analog BMW x5

China produces the most different cars. The choice is presented different models both in terms of quality and appearance. But they are all united by one property - relatively low price.

An example is a car with the incomprehensible name Shuanghuan Sceo. Behind these words is not just hidden new idea Chinese engineers, but the real replica BMW x5 in the back of e53.

The first model left the assembly line in 2006 and continues to be produced today. For this period Chinese copy seriously ruffled the nerves of the proud Bavarians. BMW has repeatedly tried to ban such cloning of their car, but failed. The result is the status of an illegal copy.

An interesting fact: the Chinese wanted to sell their car in Germany through the company China Automobile Deutschland GmbH, which greatly angered the Bavarians. Since that time, Shuanghuan Sceo's route to this country has been blocked.

The Chinese car has ambiguous body dimensions. The developers did not make a 100% copy, but introduced "their" ideas. The photo shows non-classical side lines, like the x5, the rear geometry has only a common spoiler.

Connoisseurs with a trained eye will recognize the familiar Mercedes ML hood design. The Chinese clone badge is somewhat reminiscent of the manufacturer SsangYong.

The front optics are completely generated by the minds of Shuanghuan Sceo designers. It is difficult to say that it is copied from another brand, but you will not find an outstanding style in it either. The front grille is also completely custom. In this situation, the Chinese acted wisely in their own way - by repeating the legendary headlights and grille of the BMW x5 car, they would have buried their model alive after several hundred produced copies.

The rear optics were clearly copied from the original. On closer examination, even outright plagiarism in detail did not make the car at least something remarkable. This factor is the reason for the defeat of this brand in many countries.

In the early stages, the Chinese Shuanghuan Sceo offered the following powertrains to choose from:

  1. Base gasoline engine, with a volume of 2.4 liters. But even with such an indicator, he gave out, in best case, total 110 Horse power.
  2. "Charged" version of the engine of the same volume. In this version, 230 horses were available to the owner in engine compartment. But these numbers are only marketing ploy. IN real life to force this motor to show all the agility is almost impossible. In terms of the nuances of operation, it was even worse - cars broke down for no apparent reason.
  3. Diesel unit, volume 2.8 liters. Power - 115 horsepower. It's far from the same power mechanism to which we are accustomed. There was no talk of any pickups from below and traction. The plentiful appetite of this motor in terms of consumption erased any traces of joy on the faces of the owners.

All engines were made in China. But they were not the development of Chinese specialists - this is a license from Japanese engineers. They are not made in the best way. Today, engine chinese bmw only one - gasoline, 125-horsepower with a volume of 2.4 liters. Has anything changed from previous years? Nothing.

Shuanghuan Sceo - Regular frame car, with a stretch called an SUV. It has a classic 5 - speed manual transmission. Available in this version only.

All configurations are equipped with a plug-in all-wheel drive. The front suspension is independent, with double wishbones. Rear - bridge, spring.

Features and price

The choice of the buyer is provided with several options for complete sets. The top one has the following features:

  • climate control;
  • airbags;
  • electric seat and others.

It cannot be said that today it is possible to surprise the driver with the listed systems. Most of them have become commonplace, without which a car cannot be imagined.

The interior of the Chinese x5 is one big problem. No, there is nothing falling off. The strange thing is that he suspiciously catches the eye, and not with better side. The steering wheel has an unusual shape and size, the seats are noticeably uncomfortable. Many moments in the interior seem corny outdated. We can say that inside, a kind of "Chinese" chaos. The designers, if they were engaged in layout, did not properly understand the process.

Since the Chinese car has not gained popularity in Russia, price policy happy vague and starts at $ 30,000 for a new car. Used copies can be purchased at times cheaper.

Comparison with the original

Shuanghuan Sceo outwardly looks rather ambiguous. The dimensions of the car from some angles look awkward, and the view of the front end is understandable only to the Chinese. The shape and design are reminiscent of the e53 body, but they are far from the Bavarian harmonious appearance.

BMW has a base volume of 3 liters, with a power of 231 hp. In a Chinese clone, the engine at 2.4 liters produces only 110. There can be no talk of any dynamism.

The German original is distinguished by comfortable and confident handling. Shuanghuan Sceo is not able to boast of such indicators.

The audio system of the Chinese car is rather mediocre. It makes no sense to compare it with BMW. Although unpretentious to the music of the owners, it will satisfy.

Analog BMW x6

At one time, the large Chinese manufacturer Great Wall Motors was absolutely not embarrassed by the fact that their creation, the IF Concept, strongly resembles the BMW x6. This is another example of brazen copying legendary brands. But this car remained a concept.

The Chinese auto industry does not stand still, and recently showed the light of a new x6 clone - Bisu T7.

Design and Specifications

It makes no sense to say specific things about this car - just look at the original. The Chinese clone surprisingly accurately adopted the features of the x6 model, albeit with its own “solutions”.

Dimensions are slightly different from BMW. The wheelbase is longer, but the width of the car is smaller.

The engine is supplied as follows:

  • volume 2 liters, with a turbine;
  • 197 HP

Diesel models in the Chinese car were not presented.

The gearshift mechanism is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. This is an unusual move for Chinese car industry.

In addition to everything, there is a plug-in all-wheel drive.

Features and price

The front of the car shows its personality. The designers made their own version of the optics and grille. But common features reminiscent of the famous x6.

The rear lights are equipped with LEDs. They also don't have general design with the original. But the lines and the "cut" roof give out a source of inspiration for Chinese craftsmen.

Interior, by the standards today, quite technologically advanced:

  • complete media system;
  • 12 inch display;
  • electronic instrument panel;
  • automatically adjustable seats with ventilation and other technologies.

The price of the model in the basic configuration is $ 20,000.

Comparison with the original

No matter how much the Chinese designers would like to make the car unique, obvious copying is noticeable. Externally, the car looks a little strange - the designers got the effect of futurism, although not entirely clear.

Chinese cars in principle have a strange appearance. In order to disguise copying at least a little, the designers change the dimensions, which is why the car takes on an unusual look.

The engines are far behind the Bavarian model. BMW kicks off the power mark with 306bhp. In their arsenal, the Germans have diesel units that the Chinese clone does not have.

When comparing the two cars, the difference in interior quality is obvious. Bisu T7, although equipped modern salon, it does not have such an approach to trifles and ergonomics.

Analog Infiniti

luxury Japanese manufacturer Infiniti could not stay away from the attention of the Chinese auto industry. A small company Yema has released its version of the original EX-series - Yema E-Series.

Design and Specifications

Comparing the design of a clone does not make sense. It exactly repeats the appearance of Infiniti. And if in previous models there was at least some hint of individuality, the E-Series completely repeated the look of the original. The only difference is the manufacturer's emblem.

The Chinese car is also not filled with technical indicators. The power unit is represented by the old Toyota engine, with a volume of 1.5 liters. The indicators are modest:

  • 95hp;
  • 130 N/m torque.

The unit is equipped with a 5-speed manual, which is standard for such a motor.

Features and price

The interior of the car is made in Chinese style. It does not have a hint of luxury or functionality, as in Infiniti. But he could satisfy the average buyer.

Some models provided climate control. The car was equipped standard package options.

A Chinese clone was made on the Austin Montego platform, which the company acquired in 2000. And although it has successfully outlived its period, in China they simply don’t throw anything away.

The E-Series remained in concept car status. Its exact price is unknown, but it would not exceed several tens of thousands of dollars.

Comparison with the original

Despite the blatant copying, it is difficult to compare the clone with the EX-series. They share a similar appearance. Otherwise, they are radically different machines.

Yema couldn't afford luxury and road performance so she went her own way. Infiniti in its trim levels has several power units- EX35 and EX50, and an additional package of options.

There is only one power unit in the list of the Chinese car.

Conclusion

The main factor in buying a copied car is the price. It is many times smaller than global brands. Flashing lights and imaginary manufacturability are a wrapper to attract buyers.

Let the Chinese car have low cost, do not forget - it is very far from the quality and reliability of European and other brands.

Chinese manufacturers produce a variety of cars - both in quality and in their own way. appearance. It's no secret that some models of the Chinese auto industry are able to compete with flagships. famous brands. The undeniable advantage of these cars is the low price with relatively good quality. But the so-called “clones” of models of world brands are especially popular today. One of these is a car with an unsound name: Shuanghuan Sceo, which has become a copy German BMW x5.

This model was launched in 2006. During this time, she was awarded a variety of expert reviews. But, obviously, she managed to achieve such publicity not because of the outstanding technical properties or unsurpassed appearance: they talk a lot about it only because it is an “analogue” of the BMW flagship. By the way, the Bavarian concern has repeatedly tried to contribute to the introduction of a ban on sales Chinese model, but this did not bring results.

Despite the fact that the model officially received the “status” of an illegal copy, it continues to be produced in China and to this day delight car owners from all over the world. But, in reality, not everything is so smooth. Shuanghuan Sceo has a variety of significant shortcomings, which confuse many potential buyers, even despite the low price category for their class.

Shuanghuan Sceo – appearance features of the Chinese BMW X5

Visually, the Chinese car of this model is very similar to the "format" of the appearance of the BMW X5. At first glance, it may seem that they have more similarities than differences. But it is not so. Just the same distinctive features of these cars allow us to judge the presence significant shortcomings from the Chinese Shuanghuan Sceo.

First of all, it is worth noting that the Chinese “clone” of BMW has unusual body dimensions and a very strange interior in terms of technical parameters. And of the body parts that make Shuanghuan Sceo as different as possible from a German car, is the presence of atypical headlights and a completely different radiator grille. Considered as a whole, the Chinese model has the following features:

  • Shuanghuan Sceo has obvious problems with the interior. Despite the fact that its external parameters are relatively adequate, the technical characteristics are completely primitivism. Not every car owner will be comfortable in such a vehicle.
  • Door handles do not fit into the overall exterior of the car. They are endowed with low quality, even by "Chinese" standards.
  • By appearance rear optics almost identical to the BMW X5, but the front one has significant differences. Some experts even talk about their absurdity.
  • On the side, the Chinese model also resembles the predecessor of the Bavarian flagship, the X3.
  • Model not responding modern requirements ergonomics. Many items are outdated.

And in order to evaluate the features of the driver's zone, it is not necessary to take a car for a test drive. Just look at the detailed photos of the salon. In particular, the car is equipped with a strange steering wheel and extremely uncomfortable seats. All the shortcomings are visible to the naked eye, and already, in themselves, are a kind of anti-advertising of the Chinese “clone” of BMW.

These and many other shortcomings did not become for foreign buyers a significant obstacle to the acquisition of a Chinese model, because in contrast to them there is a low price that cannot be compared with the price of a car of a German concern.

On secondary market Shuanghuan Sceo 2006-2007 release can be purchased for only 400-450 thousand rubles. Now this car is sold in many countries of the world - however, with mixed success. But there is an official ban on the import of the model into Germany.

Shuanghuan Sceo - technical features: are there any similarities with the BMW X5?

The unfulfilled expectation of many car owners is the fact that Chinese "clones" usually inherit only the appearance of world-famous flagships, while the filling remains "Chinese". Shuanghuan Sceo is no exception in this regard: from the BMW X5 - it has only external parameters. A technical features it has the following:

  • Several vehicle options are offered. The maximum of them is endowed good features that fully meet the requirements of modern motorists - climate control, cruise control, reliable system brake force distribution, 4 airbags, power seats and more.
  • The car is equipped with an in-line 4-cylinder Mitsubishi engine, not very modern.
  • Engine capacity - 2.4 liters (for BMW - 3 liters), power - 110 hp. (BMW has 231 hp). Of course, the difference between auto basic configurations is very significant.
  • Many owners complain about excessive fuel consumption on diesel models;
  • Those who are accustomed to the comfortable driving of a reliable car are unlikely to "taste" the Shuanghuan Sceo operation features.

Despite imperfection technical parameters Chinese model, the car managed to gain its popularity on overseas market. The most in demand basic equipment cars equipped with engines licensed by Mitsubishi. The materials used, although not of the highest quality, but the assembly, in general, meets all the current requirements.

What is the result?

Shuanghuan Sceo has a variety of significant shortcomings, but, nevertheless, this does not prevent the model from being produced for the tenth year in a row and being sold very successfully in many countries of the world. In terms of quality, it is far from its prototype - the Bavarian BMW X5. But the appearance, along with the price, are the parameters that just attract potential buyers of a modern Chinese SUV.
