Every year, thousands of new cars appear on the streets of modern cities. At the same time, the number of parking spaces is growing less actively, and motorists are forced to park more densely, which inevitably leads to an increase in the number of traffic incidents. Help to avoid unpleasant situations on the roads Parktronic is a parking radar that helps the driver to safely park the car in any conditions. This device will be especially useful for beginners and those who have not yet mastered parking a car in difficult urban conditions.

These devices come in several types, and in this article we will look at the most popular of them - ultrasonic. The principle of operation of parking sensors is simple: special sensors are installed in the bumper of the car, which transmit and receive acoustic signals. The device calculates the distance to obstacles based on the time it takes for sound to travel from the sensor to the obstacle and back again. This is possible because the speed of sound is a constant value.

The driver receives a visual, audible or complex signal. In some types of parking sensors, an LCD display is installed, which displays the position of the car relative to obstacles and the distance to them. As practice shows, it is the sound signal that is best perceived, but it rather depends on the habit.

What do we need to install?

To install parking sensors with your own hands, you do not need any professional skills. An ordinary motorist can cope with this task by force. All that is required for this is to drill a few holes evenly and connect the wires correctly. Most of the necessary tools can be found in the garage of any driver.

The set of most parking radars consists of:

  • sensors (from 2 to 8 pieces)
  • connection cables
  • screen
  • signal processing unit.

Also, some models come with a cutter for drilling holes for sensors and various useful little things. But if it is not included in the kit, this is not critical - you can measure the diameter of the sensor and purchase a drill at the nearest store. However, it should be taken into account that the cutter diameter must be 1-2 mm larger than the sensor diameter.

To install and connect parking sensors, we need:

  • the device itself
  • cutter for drilling holes for sensors (often comes with parking sensors)
  • drill (you can also use a screwdriver)
  • a set of keys
  • pencil, electrical tape or clamps, tape measure and tester.

All cars are different and each case is unique in its own way, so other little things, such as pliers, a soldering iron, or a car electrical diagram, may be required.

We install parking sensors with our own hands

This installation scheme is universal, and is suitable for most cars. Sensors and a camera are mounted in the front and rear bumpers, which are connected by wires to the control unit. The parking sensors display can be installed either on the dashboard or in the rear of the cabin and is also connected to the unit.

Installing the rear parking sensors

It is necessary to start the installation of the system by drilling holes for the sensors. This is perhaps the most responsible task and should be approached with special care. On some vehicles, it is not necessary to remove the bumper, but if it is more convenient for you, it is better to remove it.

To begin with, we will outline the places on the bumper where we will install the sensors in the future. You can find detailed installation requirements in the instructions for the parking sensors, such as the optimal distance between the sensors and from the sensors to the ground. These requirements are very important, and they must be taken into account when basting holes. Next, we glue the mounting tape to the places where we will drill, and mark the centers of the holes with an awl.

Seven times measure cut once! It will not be superfluous to check the markings of the holes again. Mistakes made at this stage cannot be corrected!

Using a cutter, we drill holes in the bumper that were previously marked for the rear parking sensors. It is important that the sensors after installation be directed strictly horizontally, so drilling should be perpendicular to the plane of the bumper.

After that, the sensors are inserted into the holes with the sensors outward (wires inward). The bumpers of some cars have a lining under the plastic - a damper. In this case, a piece of wire or a nail will help you to push the wires through. Having previously made a hole in the damper for the wire, wrap the cable to the nail with electrical tape and pull it inward.

Next, we insert the sensor into the hole and fix it on the back side with special rings that should be included. It is also important to install the sensors in the correct sequence. They are marked with Latin letters A, B, C and D and must be installed on the bumper in the same order from left to right.

Often the sensors are black or silver and, if necessary, they can be repainted in body color (bumper). This procedure does not affect their sensitivity and durability in any way, and your car looks more beautiful. You can pick up the paint “by eye”, or accurately determine the color using computer selection.

As a rule, the signal processing unit is installed in the trunk, although it can also be mounted in the inside of the wing or under the dashboard in the cabin. We will consider an example of the most common solution.

We will work under the bumper and in the trunk. First of all, we free the trunk and remove the trim. We wind the wires from all sensors together. This can be done with electrical tape, clamps, or run the wires through the corrugation, which will also protect them. We wire the wires wound together under the bumper into the trunk through the technological hole. If it is missing, we drill a new one and fill it with sealant after pulling the wires.

Next, we need to choose a place where the signal processing unit will be installed. This place should be relatively safe for the block, as it can be torn off by the cargo that will be transported. The block itself is attached to any surface using double-sided tape - just tear off the film and attach the block (preferably to a fat-free surface).

The parking sensors are activated at the moment when the reverse gear is engaged. Therefore, after fixing the signal processing unit, it must be powered from the reversing lamps, observing the polarity. The first step is to get to the rear light wires and determine which one is “plus”. Often this wiring consists of cables with black and red insulation, in which case the red wire is a "plus". Otherwise, "plus" must be determined using a tester.

Do you know the difference between antifreeze and antifreeze? about which coolant is better to choose.

There are two ways to connect wires:

After that, we connect sensors to the block - each wire from the sensor and each connector in the block are marked accordingly.

Now let's think about where to put the display and install it. As a rule, it is installed on the dashboard. But some prefer to install the display in the rear so that it can be seen through the rearview mirror. The display, like the block, is attached to a flat surface with double-sided tape. Whichever location you choose for the display, the next step is to connect it to the signal processing unit.

Important! When installing the display in the rear, you must take into account the fact that you will look at it through a mirror. This means that the obstacles on it will also be displayed in a mirror image, that is, vice versa! To make the display correct relative to you, you need to change the order of the wires of the sensors that are connected to the unit. That is, change A, B, C, D to D, B, C, A.

The rear display has the advantage of not having to run wires across the cabin to the dashboard. In this case, the wiring is pulled through the technological hole under the seat, then under the skin between the side and the roof of the car. In the case of a front-mounted display, the wiring is located under the side skirt trim or under the floor mats.

It is better to secure all wiring with clamps or electrical tape. The same applies to extra pieces of wire that can knock on the pits. It may happen that in the sun the fender of the car heats up, and the block attached to the double-sided tape can slide off. After the installation is completed, turn on the ignition, then reverse gear and see if the screen lights up. If it lights up, then you have correctly installed the rear parking sensors!

Installing the front parking sensors

The principle of installing the front parking sensors is the same, but there are some differences. In this case, we need to run the wiring through the hood and interior of the car to the trunk, where the signal processing unit is installed. On some vehicles, before installing the front parking sensors, you need to remove the grille and the air duct pipe.

Then everything is according to the instructions - we mark and drill holes for the front parking sensors. We use wire to push the wire under the bumper and fasten the wiring with electrical tape or clamps. Through the technological hole, the wire is led into the engine compartment. In some cases, the washer reservoir will interfere with the wires, so it must be removed.

It is better to run the wire from the front left sensor on the other side of the engine compartment under the battery. In order to stretch the remaining wires, you can use a standard corrugation, if any. The cable is pulled into the cabin through a technological hole.

Now let's decide how we will activate the parking sensors apron. And there are several options here:

And finally, we bring the wiring through the passenger compartment to the place where the signal processing unit is installed. In our case, this is the trunk. We connect the wires of the front parking sensors according to the instructions, in the same way as with the rear one.

Parktronic does not work, what should I do?

There are many reasons why the parking sensors may fail or not work after installation. Therefore, we will consider two cases:

New parking aid not working

At the beginning of the article, we recommended checking the performance of the device before installing it on a car. If it worked before installation, you should check the connection of all the main nodes. All components must be connected according to the instructions that come with the kit. Check if you are properly powered by the reversing lamp or ignition. Also, do not exclude the possibility of a factory marriage.

The parking sensors worked, but something went wrong

The fastest and most reliable way to find out the cause of a breakdown is computer diagnostics. Now this service is provided by many auto repair shops. If you decide to find the cause of the breakdown yourself, we will try to help you. Often the cause of all problems are sensors, and it is on them that you should pay attention in the first place. One of the most common problems is a constant signal. The reason for this may be a foreign body that “stuck” on the sensor, as well as oxidation of the contacts and a short circuit.

Also, the sensors are sensitive to water and may give false signals during rain or after washing. In this case, drying, for example with compressed air, will help. At sub-zero temperatures, especially in severe frost, the sensors may also lose sensitivity. But this does not affect their further performance.

In conclusion, before leaving the road, you should test the parking sensors with different obstacles and in different modes. This will allow you to understand in which situations the system can give a false signal and in which a real one.

Video example of installing parking sensors with your own hands

This installation is different in that all the wires are laid to the maximum on the standard places for laying braids of the car's wiring, with minimal damage to it.

Purchased parking sensors Sho-Me Y-2616 for 8 sensors.

When buying, carefully check the completeness, I did not have a bundle of wires with a power connector.

I had to collective farm myself (I used a computer connector to connect the speaker to the motherboard).

Comes with:

  • the block of parking sensors itself;
  • display;
  • 8 sensors;
  • 4 long wires for connecting sensors;
  • 4 short wires for connecting sensors;
  • wire for connecting the display;
  • wire for power connection;
  • 4 sets of spacer rings of different thickness;
  • cutter for cutting holes in the bumper;
  • double-sided adhesive tape for attaching the block (as an option - Velcro);
  • instruction;
  • silica gel. :)

Required:

  • Power tools (knife, side cutters, etc.);
  • Insulating tape, heat shrink tube, plastic clamps;
  • masking tape;
  • Wrenches (heads);
  • screwdrivers;
  • Screwdriver or drill;
  • Roulette, pencil;
  • Glue (epoxy or type "Moment").

First of all, while at home, I painted the sensors with paint.

I got the paint from the painters after the bumper repair:

We paint the sensors themselves and a few spacer rings just in case:

We take parking sensors, tools, coffee, sandwiches (this is a long time) and we go to the garage.

It is advisable to wash the car first.

Let's start with the rear bumper.

Decide on the installation height. According to the instructions, this is 50 - 60 cm, ideally 55 cm.

If without load, then 55 cm is at the level of reflectors.

But much better sensors will look a little higher on the ledge. I decided to put it there.

We take masking tape, and smooth stick on the bumper. We will make markings on the adhesive tape.

According to the instructions, I got the following positions:

Extreme sensors - 5 cm from the corner of the reflector to the outside:

Middle sensors - at the corners of the license frame:

Vertically - exactly in the center of the adhesive tape (it was not in vain that I asked to glue it evenly).

We take a screwdriver or drill, insert a cutter into it:

And, plucking up courage, crossing ourselves, cursing ROLF with its prices, we drill ... The faint of heart, please leave!

Of course, making sure in advance that inside we will not touch anything with a cutter.

After each hole, we clean the cutter from the bumper elements.

In the end it will look like this:

Well, there is no going back...

We insert the sensors, observing their position - with the arrow up:

Painted look very even nothing ...

Spacer rings were not needed, the sensors are relatively even.

The blue circle marks the place where we will stretch the wires:

We dismantle the trunk.

We look sadly at the contents of the trunk:

All this will have to be obtained.

We remove the pallet, coating, all plywood, unscrew the screws in the foam, and remove the foam:

We leave only the wheel - it does not interfere:

Now we unscrew the two pistons holding the plastic bead trim by hand and remove the trim:

We unscrew the two pistons holding the left decorative trim at the back:

And in the area of the back of the rear sofa:

We take out the skin, we come off this view:

The circle marks the connector at which we will connect, the rectangle marks the place where we will attach the parking sensors unit.

You can, of course, fix it in another place, for example, on the wing or near the vent flaps, thus completely hiding it, but in my place the unit will later be available for diagnostics without disassembling the trunk, which, it seems to me, is better and more important.

This is how the block looks in its place (still without plating):

Lay the wires to the rear sensors.

We take short wires (they are already marked on one side with E, F, G, H), unwind them.

In order not to get confused, we glue tags to the other ends and mark them with similar letters.

We pull out the rubber chip through which the wires are inserted:

If you try really hard, you can push the connectors through the chip without cutting it.

I tried, and I succeeded.

We tie the wires with electrical tape inside the trunk in a bundle:

We fasten the bundle with clamps to the native wiring:

We put the chip in place:

Outside, we lay the wires and fasten them to the visor with clamps, leaving the ends hanging so long that the next time the bumper is dismantled, it can be put on the ground:

On the left we will have a wire E, Then F, G, and on the right H.

We hang the bumper in place until we fix it.

We connect the block to the wiring.

The block is connected with 4 wires.

  • Black - mass.
  • Blue - to the brake light (for the operation of the front sensors).
  • Red - to the reversing lamp (for the operation of the rear sensors).
  • Yellow - to the ACC point (for instantaneous operation of the parking sensors, it will always be on standby with the ignition on).

The first three wires can be connected right there, at the connector next to it.

  • Ground (black) - to the ground wire (pin No. 4 of connector F-28, black wire).
  • Front sensors (blue) - to the brake light wire (pin No. 10 of the connector, according to the diagram - a red wire, I had some kind of blue one).
  • Rear sensors (red) - to the wire of the reversing light (pin No. 5 of the connector, white wire on the side of the light or blue on the side of the side braid).
  • Power (ACC) will have to be dragged forward to the torpedo. I was lucky, I have an amplifier with ACC power control in the back - I connected to it.

We connect the wires of the front sensors, having previously marked the ends (A, B, C, D), and the display wire.

We tie them with electrical tape into a bundle (together with the ACC wire), lay them down, attaching them to the side braid with clamps.

In the end it should look something like this:

Now you can test the rear sensors by connecting the display, turning on the ignition (without it, the reverse lamp will not light up) and reverse gear (the ACC wire is not necessary to connect yet).

If everything is fine, we fix the bumper (not forgetting the chip from below), we assemble the trunk.

I previously glued the sensors to the bumper with glue for reliability.

If you put only the rear sensors, then this is where your work ends.

And if there are also front ones, then all the most difficult is just ahead ...

We lay the wires in the front of the car.

We remove the seat of the rear sofa, for this we pull with force at its base in two places - you need to feel with your hand where exactly.

We remove the left side of the rear sofa by unscrewing the bolt with a 14 head.

We tear off the threshold lining (it rests on two caps):

We remove the lining of the central pillar, the front threshold, the sidewall under the torpedo - everything is held on by clips.

We tie the wires with electrical tape into a bundle (we should have 6 wires: 4 for sensors, one for the display, and one for ACC power), we attach the bundle to the wiring with clamps, and in the threshold area we lay it in existing clamps:

The salon can be assembled back, so as not to frighten with its disassembled appearance and a bunch of scattered trim elements.

So we got to the torpedo.

We disassemble the torpedo.

We figure out where we will put the display. I liked this place:

Now we remove the casing under the torpedo (if you have one), it rests on 4 caps:

We disassemble the left side of the torpedo - all elements are held on clips:

We remove the rack pad (holds on the clip), not forgetting to disconnect the clamp (shown by the arrow):

We push the display wires into the hole (shown by the arrow), we catch the wires from below.

We connect the display connector, collect the excess wire in a coil and tie it with a clamp somewhere under the torpedo.

We connect the ACC wire somewhere where there is voltage when the ignition switch is on (for example, pin 1 of the C-313 connector or pin 3 of the C-315 connector).

We degrease the torpedo from above, glue the display to the right place.

Now the most difficult thing awaits us - you need to stretch the sensor wires into the engine compartment.

We will again pull through the technological hole intended for wiring.

It is located here (view from the engine compartment, you may not have a big red stick either):

The chip itself is very tight. Sensor connectors are wide.

I had to suffer so as not to remove the chips, to cut a fairly wide hole in it, without catching the wiring.

Using a piece of hard wire, we stretch the wires one by one from the cabin to the engine compartment.

The hardest part is over. We collect the torpedo back.

We lay the wiring harness in the engine compartment next to the onboard wiring, attaching to it with clamps - in the area of \u200b\u200bthe engine ECU, battery, then the left headlight.

We take the front bumper.

We glue masking tape, now at the "correct" height of 55 cm.

We mark the installation locations of the sensors according to the instructions. Something like this:

We drill holes.

We insert the sensors, observing the position (arrow up).

Then I realized that two sensors were painted in vain - they ended up on a black jumper. :((

We lay the wires along the bumper beam, leaving tails of 20 cm (from left to right along the car - A, B, C, D):

We connect the connectors, hang the bumper in place.

We carry out tests by pressing on the brake pedal.

If everything works as it should, fix the sensors with glue and screw the bumper into place.

That seems to be all...

Very tired, we conduct field tests, preferably with an assistant.

results of my work.

The display looks like this:

Rear sensors:

Front sensors:

Parktronic unit in the trunk (I had to trim the trim a little so as not to rub):

Operation of the front sensors

They start working after pressing the brake pedal and work for another 10 seconds after depressing.

They work at a distance of about 0.8 m.

When driving in traffic, this distance is enough to avoid traffic lights and traffic jams - I personally really stop at least a meter away (it’s simply not visible further, even with my high growth).

They are afraid of deep puddles.)) They just feel the wave and start honking.

Operation of the rear sensors

They work when reversing, according to the instructions, they begin to squeak about 1.5 m before the obstacle, and in life - somewhere a meter away.

At a distance of less than 30 cm, they squeak continuously.

Due to the constant power supply, the readiness of the sensors is instantaneous.

The job took about 12 hours with very short coffee breaks, done by myself.

A modern car is a set of systems that make life easier for the driver. And in order to feel comfortable behind the wheel of any person, regardless of driving experience, many devices have been invented - hydraulic booster, injection injection, navigation and parking sensors. The first reduces the force applied to the steering wheel, which allows even fragile girls to maneuver without problems. The second makes it easier to start the engine - there is no need to regulate the air supply to the fuel system by hand in cold weather. And the latter help to maneuver freely in an unfamiliar place for you.

Several sensors on the bumpers notify how many meters or centimeters are left before the obstacle. With it, you will not damage your car. And today, parking sensors are often installed even on standard equipment. But installing parking sensors with your own hands will not cause difficulties if your car is not equipped with it from the factory.

Functions and purpose of parking sensors

Parktronic is an indispensable device for a driver who lives in a big city

In a modern city, the main problem is parking. Sometimes it is quite difficult to find a place where you can leave your car, there are very few free sites. Even paid parking can be found infrequently. Drivers have to leave cars on the side of the road, but getting into a small gap between neighbors is problematic. It is very easy to damage both your car and the one that is standing next to you. This is where the parking radar comes to the rescue, which tracks the distance to the obstacle and displays it on the display in the cabin.

You should not focus on rear-view mirrors in such situations, since they have a dead zone - a space that is not captured by any of the mirrors. But the parking sensors are able to catch any obstacles - curbs, poles, cars. Often you can find parking sensors equipped with rear-view cameras. Usually they are installed near the license plate or in the bumper. And inside the car there is an LCD monitor, which displays the image from the camera. Thanks to this improvement, you can see everything behind the car. Today, the installation of parking sensors with a similar function is most in demand, since the driver is provided with the most complete information.

Complete set of modern parking sensors:

Parktronic kit with rear view camera

  1. Sensors. The most popular scheme is two in front and four in the back. The more emitters you install, the more coverage you get.
  2. The parking sensors control unit processes the signals from the sensors.
  3. Wires, terminals, connections.

The control unit calculates the time required for the signal to travel the distance from the sensor to the obstacle and back. If the signal is not returned, the device understands that there is no interference. Having calculated the time, the control unit makes the simplest calculation of the distance, because the radiation speed is known and constant. Next, the output value is converted, it is presented to the driver visually - an inscription appears on the LCD display with the exact distance to the interference. But more often, of course, sound duplication occurs - the closer the obstacle, the faster the speaker in the device will beep, warning the driver of the danger.

Self-installation of parking sensors

Some cars may be produced without a parking detector, but there are places to install sensors. But even if they are not there, everyone can make several holes. Parktronic usually comes with a special drill, the diameter of which is the same as that of the sensor. The first task that you need to solve is to choose the type and brand of the device. The following points will have to be taken into account:

  • your financial capacity;
  • Which manufacturer do you trust the most?
  • device capabilities (graphical display, presence of a video camera, sound notification).

But the most important thing is to clarify the information about which device models work best on your particular car model. Sometimes the design features of the bumpers do not allow certain types of sensors to work properly, as a result of which you will have to change the location of the detectors several times in order to achieve the best result.

When you buy a kit, read the instructions, it tells the main points that you need to consider during installation. Look with caution at devices that have instructions in Chinese - you are unlikely to be able to translate it. If you know English, then you can safely buy copies with a manual in this language. But more clearly, of course, there will be a Russian-language manual.

Before installing the parking sensors yourself, you must carefully study its scheme. The installation process can be divided into several stages:

The parking sensors control unit is most often located in the trunk

  1. Place the control unit in the trunk of the car. It can be attached to the back of the rear seat. It is better not to install it at the bottom of the trunk, as moisture may enter the device.
  2. Mark the places for mounting the sensors on the bumper. Before doing this, of course, thoroughly wash the bumper so that it is as clean as possible. This will make the job easier. It is best to mark the position with a permanent marker.
  3. All sensors should be located at a height of about half a meter from the ground. First, you outline the position of the two extreme ones, which should be mounted on the rounded edges of the bumper. Measure the distance between them and divide by 3 to evenly space the other two radars.
  4. Using a cutter, drill holes into which you mount parking radars, fixing them with glue or sealant.
  5. Lead the wires from the sensors to the control unit and make the connection, focusing on the circuit diagram. Lay wires from the control unit to the monitor located in front of the driver's eyes.
  6. Test the installed system.

At the testing stage, pay attention to whether the system responds to obstacles, are there false alarms? If there are no shortcomings, then you can safely use the device.

One of the most difficult driving maneuvers is reversing. But whether we like it or not, we have to use such a mode of movement all the time, especially when parking a car. To secure the control of the machine in such a situation, the parking sensors were born.

What is it, and what is the parking sensors device

This device has many names. It is called parking sensors, and parking radar, and parking sonar. From these names, the principle of its operation becomes clear - detecting an obstacle, measuring the distance to it and warning the driver. This happens as follows - when the reverse gear is turned on, the ultrasound generator, which is part of the parking sensors, begins to radiate.

If an obstacle appears along the path of the car or nearby, a reflected signal appears from it, which is perceived by the parking sensors circuit. Based on the delay time of such a signal, the system determines the distance to the obstacle and warns the driver of the car about this using the signaling and indication means provided for by the product design.

What is the parking sensors system

To understand what such a device is, just look at the figure:
It consists of:

  • the electronic unit;
  • sensors placed on the bumper of the car;
  • display and indication device.

This is a fairly enlarged image, but it allows you to understand what the product is. The existing types of parking sensors are quite diverse and numerous. You can define the following signs by which they differ from each other:

Number of connected sensors. There may be two, or there may be eight. The possibility of detecting an obstacle when maneuvering in reverse and the cost of the parking sensors itself depend on the quantity. If the car is equipped with two sensors, then the probability that the obstacle will go unnoticed is quite high. If the device contains eight sensors, then the probability of error is minimal.

Way to display distance. The system can use distance indicators with one scale, with two scales and a digital display of the distance to the obstacle.

A means of displaying information. For parking sensors, the data that the device receives as a result of its operation can be displayed on:

  1. special device;
  2. liquid crystal display;
  3. windshield;
  4. car rearview mirror.

A method of transmitting information to the electronic control unit from sensors. A system such as parking sensors can use data transmission both by cable and radio channel for these purposes.

The use of additional devices. There are special systems that additionally use a video camera in their work, which provides a display of the space behind the car in the rear-view mirror. It is believed that such parking sensors with a rear-view camera create opportunities for the safest conditions when maneuvering in reverse. At the same time, one should not forget that although a parking sensor is installed on the car, the rear-view mirror also, with no less efficiency, allows you to assess in time the presence of obstacles behind the car.

Sensor locations. Initially, it was planned to place them only on the surface of the rear bumper of the car, but later the parking sensors began to use sensors installed on the front bumper.

How to connect parking sensors

This task is responsible, but it is quite possible to perform it on your own, following the instructions. As a rule, the wiring diagram requires connecting sensors, a display device and an electronic unit. It is usually installed in the trunk of a car in any convenient place.

The next task of the wiring diagram involves the installation of sensors. If more than two are planned, then first of all, the extreme ones are installed, at the bending radii of the rear bumper, then the rest are placed at the same distance. Before installing them, the surface is prepared, cleaning it from dust and dirt, and after that it is marked on the surface of the rear bumper where they will be located. The system usually provides for a certain location of the rear view sensors, including, as a rule, it is necessary to maintain a distance of fifty centimeters from the ground.

Holes are drilled in the marked places of the rear bumper, in which sensors are then installed. In order for the system to work reliably in the future, they are additionally attached to the bumper with glue or sealant. After that, you need to connect the sensors to the control unit, as provided by the parking sensors circuit. If the display device is planned to be located on the front panel or on the rear-view mirror, then the wires for connection will have to be laid under the interior trim, for which it will have to be removed.

It is best to combine all the wires used to connect the rear view sensors into a single bundle using clamps; additional measures must be taken to protect against damage at the transition points through the holes. After the connection diagram of all devices is completed, the parking sensors must be tested. To do this, the parking sensors system is checked under different conditions for the possibility of detecting obstacles when maneuvering. If the product works correctly, detects and warns about the presence of obstacles in a timely manner, then you have managed to connect the parking sensors.

Parktronic for cars, its possible failures and malfunctions

As a rule, the causes of parking sensors malfunctions are failures of sensors and wires in the harnesses. Of course, it is possible that the failure occurred in the electronic control unit, due to which the parking sensors system itself either stopped working or works with violations. But such a failure is quite rare.

For example, an external manifestation of a failure can sometimes be a long squeak that the system issues for no apparent reason. In this case, a possible cause may be splashing of the rear view sensor with dirt, after removing the dirt, the parking sensors will be able to work as before. Another reason may be the closure of individual wires that are connected to the central sensor unit. In this case, the correct operation of the product will be violated, and diagnostics will be required to restore its performance.

Moisture closure of wires for connecting sensors will also appear, as a result of which the correct signal flow pattern will be violated. However, after drying the wires, performance should be restored.

By itself, a device such as parking sensors cannot be considered an essential element of a car, but nevertheless, it turns out to be useful when performing complex maneuvers, especially for novice drivers. The parking sensors can be of different types and designs, but in any case, for its operation, the connection of rear-view sensors is required.

On sale you can find a large number of devices that make life easier for the driver. The parking sensors deserve special attention. This is a device that greatly simplifies the process of parking a car.

It is especially useful in large cities with high vehicle density. A large number of cars greatly complicates the parking process, increasing the risk of a collision.

The installation of parking sensors gives the driver a sense of confidence, and especially for those who have recently received a license to drive a vehicle. Due to its reasonable cost and high reliability, the device is in increasing demand among buyers.

The undoubted advantage of the system is that it is quite possible to install parking sensors with your own hands. Proper preparation will significantly simplify the installation process and will not take much free time.

The main task of the device is to timely warn the driver about the presence of obstacles when reversing the car. There is a concept. This is when the driver cannot see individual areas behind the car.

It is in the "dead zone" that collisions with an obstacle and damage to the bumper or other body elements most often occur. As soon as the car in reverse approaches an obstacle, the device emits sound and light signals.

The faster the distance decreases, the more intense the parking sensors emit a signal. Some device models support video signal output to the on-board computer screen.

Standard parking aid

The usual equipment of the device, in addition to the parking sensors directly, includes other elements.

The most common are:

Control block

Responsible for processing received data.

Sensors

Provide scanning and transmission of information to the control unit.

Display

Displays information from the control unit about the distance to the obstacle behind the machine.

Inexpensive parking sensors contain only two sensors, expensive devices can be equipped with eight sensors. Among other things, modern systems include video cameras and a display for displaying information.

How to install parking sensors with your own hands?

The procedure for installing parking sensors with your own hands, with proper preparation, will not take much free time.

There are several main stages of installation work:

  1. Dismantling the bumper;
  2. Cleaning and washing the bumper from dirt;
  3. Bumper markings for installing sensors. A special washable marker is used;
  4. The installation height of the sensor should not exceed half a meter from the ground. They must be placed strictly horizontally;
  5. Drilling holes in the bumper. Using a drill, it is necessary to drill the holes previously marked with a marker.
  6. Installation of sensors (They should be placed at an equidistant distance from each other. This will make it possible to cover the maximum area behind the machine).
  7. Installing the parking sensors control unit (Experts recommend placing the device in the luggage compartment. When connecting the unit, the most important thing is not to reverse the polarity. Before connecting the system, you need to carefully read the installation diagram).
  8. Mounting the screen (It is recommended to install the Display on the dashboard of the car to provide a better view. Installing devices will not take much free time and effort from a trained driver).

Thank you for your attention, good luck on the road.
