We offer you to buy high-quality tires for SUVs from the supplier's warehouse at a bargain price. Today, almost every self-respecting manufacturer produces off-road tires for cars. All current models and sizes are presented in our catalog.

All jeep tires you see on this page are now in stock and ready to ship to the customer as soon as possible. All wheels are certified. The catalog of our site has easy navigation, and if necessary, you can use the tire selection wizard (red button on the left).

Golden mean

The requirements for tires on the road and in off-road conditions are very different. We can say that they are almost opposite. Depending on the operating conditions, tires for SUVs are divided into several types:

  • extreme tires are designed for driving in the most difficult conditions; they have a very aggressive tread pattern and are designed for off-road driving only;
  • mud tires, or SUV Mud Tarrain (MT), are designed for those cars that spend 80% of their driving time off-road and 20% on city roads;
  • universal tires, or All Terrain (AT) - if you translate this into Russian, you get “any terrain” - they can spend 50% of their travel time on the road and 50% off-road;
  • road wheels, or Highway Terrain (HT) - designed for 20% off-road and 80% for flat tracks;
  • road tires, or Highway Performance (HP), are used exclusively on the highway.

Different manufacturers offer slightly different solutions. You can buy tires for SUVs of all popular models from us.

If the wheel is marked M + S, then it can be used both for driving on summer roads, and on mud and snow.

Dimensions

With frequent off-road driving, the issue of choosing the right tires for the make and model of car is especially relevant. First of all, of course, standard sizes are important, such as wheel radius, tread width and profile height. In order to make the right choice, we recommend that you:

  • be sure to read the operating instructions for the car and find out what parameters the tires for SUVs should have in the case of your car model;
  • if necessary, seek advice from us (you can contact us during business hours via Skype, phone or e-mail);
  • For a faster search for suitable tires in the catalog, use our special service.

Why is it profitable to buy from us?

We make our clients the best offer:

  • sale of tires for 4x4 vehicles is carried out at a favorable price;
  • we sell only original high-quality tires;
  • our service is organized taking into account all possible needs of the client;
  • we carry car tires for SUVs throughout Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.

The automotive market is actively developing a line of medium-duty vehicles with high ground clearance and plug-in all-wheel drive. In one case, we say - this is a crossover, in the second - an SUV. What is their main difference? Mainly in tires.

Types of tires for SUVs

Tires for SUVs are a special type of tires that can overcome difficult dirt roads. They differ from passenger tires in construction, load capacity, top speeds, pressure and design.

Depending on the operating conditions, they are divided into III categories.

  1. Tires for urban travel. Their performance characteristics are close to tires for passenger cars. The catalogs have the designation HP (High Performance).
  2. Premium class tires, in which manufacturers are constantly looking for a middle ground between comfortable movement on asphalt and high off-road flotation. There are two subspecies here:
  • HT (Half Terrain), with a ratio of 20% dirt and 80% asphalt;
  • AT (All Terrain) - universal for any roads (50% dirt / 50% hard surface).
  1. Classic tires for SUVs, designed to overcome unpaved roads of any complexity. They have the designation MT (Mud Terrain) (“mud” is translated from English as mud).

Characteristics of tires MT

MT tires for SUVs are easy to identify among all types and types of rubber for cars by tread. It is deep, rough, has lateral lugs. The distance between the elements of the pattern (teeth) is very large, which allows the wheel to self-clean, not “blur”, during movement. With equal efficiency are removed from under the wheel:

  • sand;
  • wet clay;
  • dirt;
  • snow.

Different lug sizes allow the tire to easily find traction on all types of roads. In liquid mud, such wheels work on the principle of the paddle wheel of the first steamships - they do not go, in the literal sense of the word, but row with lugs.

Such tires are produced mainly from a hard type of rubber, which, together with a specific tread, greatly complicates the movement on asphalt. Immediately there are problems:

  • the coefficient of adhesion to the road decreases;
  • controllability is reduced;
  • there is a tendency to tip over when cornering;
  • the braking distance increases;
  • increased fuel consumption;
  • tread wear increases sharply;
  • the noise level increases.

The tread pattern is not suitable for asphalt roads. The rare placement of its elements makes the contact patch of the tire with the road surface minimal. Hence the noise, drifts, refusal to obey the steering wheel, increased tire wear. Such a wheel does not roll, but is pumped through the tread lugs, resulting in increased fuel consumption, up to 30%.

The high profile of the tire tends to "break" when cornering, which is fraught with a slide into a ditch or a rollover.

MT tires have a low speed index - 120 km / h. The production of individual models of this type of tires made of softer rubber made it possible to increase it to 160 km / h. However, these tires have reduced patency, and there is a problem with the sidewalls. Under high loads, they are prone to destruction.

MT tires on winter roads

In winter, MT tires have features that must be considered during operation.

MT tires marked "M + S" or "M & S" are not suitable for Russian roads due to the harsh winter. The composition of the rubber from which they are made, already at a frost of -5-10 degrees C and below, becomes so hard that the tire resembles plastic, with all the ensuing consequences. Basically, it's summer tires. The presence of nests for spikes should not be misleading.

Only the presence of a badge in the form of 3 mountain peaks with a snowflake inside on the sidewall of the tire guarantees reliable operation of the wheel in any frost.

The behavior of an SUV in MT tires on ice (open water, icy country road or ice on asphalt) is like a puck. Having once received an impulse for movement, he will continue his path in a straight line until he encounters an obstacle or stops. You can't slow down or turn around. Drivers should not forget this.

After standing for several hours in the cold, MT tires, under the weight of the car, lose the shape of a regular circle. As a result, the first few kilometers, until the wheels warm up, there will be a feeling of a "hernia" (bulb) formed on the tread. You should not be afraid of such specifics when operating tires in winter. Even at maximum tire pressure, this effect is observed.

Features of operation of various models of tires MT

On sale, mud tires can be found for every taste, both in terms of performance and price. However, not all of them correspond to the declared parameters. Negative feedback from owners on some models is a vivid confirmation of this.

South Korean Hankuk MT tires of the Dinapro model are available for R15, R16, R17, R18, R20 and R22 rims.

The profile height and tread width are combined and reach 10 types for a 16J disc. Only for large discs, the choice is limited - for R22, the manufacturer produces two types of tires.

Such a variety of choices covers almost the entire range of off-road vehicles. The model is new, but quickly gaining popularity.

In Russia, tires are available in sizes:

  • wheels - 15-18 inches;
  • profile height - 60-85 mm;
  • width - 215-325.

Niva on Hankuk Dinapro MT RT03 235/85/16 tires showed many pluses and few minuses while driving off-road.

The positive aspects of the tire include:

  • safe driving performance on asphalt;
  • confident, without slipping, start;
  • increased resistance to punctures and mechanical damage;
  • reinforced sidewall;
  • confident passage of difficult sections of the road;
  • adequate price.

The disadvantages include:

  • the large weight of the tire, which leads to a significant waste of fuel;
  • fast "washing" in clay areas;
  • poor passage of peatlands (wetlands).

Tires Maxis MT

The non-promoted Taiwanese company Maxxis produces mud tires Maxis MT 762 Bighorn, which are not inferior in quality to world brands.

Tire Bontyre Stalker MT

This tire is available in the following sizes:

  • on disks - from 14 to 20J;
  • profile height - from 55 to 85 mm;
  • in width - 235-325 mm.

Also on sale you can see tires Maxis MT 764 Bighorn. However, their choice is limited by the number of sizes.

According to the reviews of the owners, off-road "Maxis" is not inferior to the tires of the famous companies "Goodrich" and "Cooper". Only one thing can be attributed to the disadvantage - it is rarely on sale in the Russian market.

Tires Stalker MT from Bontyre can often be seen on Niva Chevrolet and UAZ Patriot cars. They are fitted with tires 215/75/15 and 235/85/16. The operation of tires Stalker showed:

  • good off-road capability;
  • comfortable ride on asphalt;
  • high safety while moving on any type of road;
  • low degree of wear on a rigid roadbed.

In addition, they have a very beautiful design and affordable price.

Recently, it has become fashionable to install wider 265 MT tires from Bontyre on the Niva. At the same time, the owner of the car improves its appearance, but increases gasoline consumption and the ability to aquaplaning.

Choosing "shoes" for your all-terrain vehicle, you can always find the best option.

Tires class All-Terrain, or simply A / T, greatly expand the possibilities of using an all-wheel drive vehicle. Not being a niche product, they combine good road performance on asphalt with compromise off-road flotation. You should not expect impressive performance from them in any one of these areas, because their main advantage is versatility.

BFGOODRICH ALL-TERRAIN A/T KO2

A true classic of the genre. One of the most popular universal car tires. Among its advantages are excellent off-road traction properties, resistance to mechanical damage and increased wear resistance. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks - for example, it noticeably hardens at low temperatures, partly losing its grip properties. Another disadvantage is a rather stiff stroke at the pressure recommended by the manufacturer. Not suitable for extreme off-road, but has a balanced character, both on and off the pavement.

BONTYRE STALKER A/T

According to the manufacturer, Stalker A/T are designed to maximize the capabilities of the car. Due to the tread pattern, which has a variable pitch, it was possible to achieve good acoustic comfort when used on asphalt, and the quick self-cleaning of the tire will allow you not to give up in off-road conditions. Withstands a pressure drop of up to 1.5 atmospheres - good quality on soft soils. Quite durable (for 10,000 km, wear will be about 4 mm). Well balanced and suitable for a wide variety of conditions.

BRIDGESTONE DUELER A/T 697

Compared to the previous model (Dueler A/T 694), the developers have improved the design of the tire through several important innovations. The sidewalls have been reinforced, and the shoulder blocks are joined using a seamless technology. The shape of the grooves is optimized to reduce noise and vibration when driving on hard surfaces. Model A/T 697 is manufactured both in Japan and Indonesia. Reviews about it are diametrically opposed - usually recommend choosing Japanese production. Due to the special composition of rubber, it has higher wear resistance and off-road strength.

CORDIANT ALL-TERRAIN

Tires for universal use, designed for all types of surfaces. The structure of the tread with a branched system of grooves allows efficient water removal, and a continuous central rib provides a high level of road holding on asphalt. They are distinguished by high cord strength and are able to withstand serious blows. Good value for money allows us to talk about them as a worthy compromise option.

GENERAL TIRE GRABBER AT3

In the spring of 2017, official deliveries to Russia of the popular North American brand began. The design of the Grabber AT3 incorporates three new technologies at once to improve the tire's performance on and off the pavement. TracGen and DuraGen technologies are responsible for stable grip on loose ground, for the strength of the sidewalls, as well as for protecting the tread from damage. The manufacturer did not forget about comfort - Comfort Balance technology, due to the well-developed arrangement of tread blocks, significantly reduces vibration when driving.

GOODYEAR WRANGLER A/T

A versatile tire made using SilentArmor technology, you can feel confident on rough terrain and off-road. The sidewalls of the tire are reinforced, which reduces the chance of being punctured or cut by rocks. A large number of sipes in the tread effectively remove water, which allows us to talk about good grip on wet roads. But the noise level directly depends on the smoothness of the asphalt - a rumble appears on a poor-quality coating, which immediately disappears on a flat road.

HANKOOK DYNAPRO ATM RF10

The tires are made of soft rubber, which provides good handling and stability on the highway. On dirt roads it behaves tolerably, if it gets washed in the mud, it does not immediately, leaving a chance to get out on solid ground. Wear resistant. Due to the strong cord, it is resistant to mechanical damage. It can be confidently operated up to minus 10 degrees, at lower temperatures on slippery surfaces, riding becomes risky. Slightly heavier than competitors, which can increase fuel consumption.

KUMHO ROAD VENTURE AT KL78

Like many all-season models, it does not behave well on ice, but compensates for this shortcoming with confident off-road behavior. It does not dig in the sand, and the high profile allows you to safely reduce pressure (although in high-speed corners this profile adds roll to the car). Compared to other models of category A / T, it has a low noise level, and in terms of price / quality ratio it creates competition with BFGoodrich itself.

MAXXIS AT-980

While the vast majority of manufacturers are trying to improve the performance of tires on the pavement (because a significant part of the time the car spends in the city), Maxxis specializes in the off-road component. The AT-980 tire has rim protection technology, a compacted rubber compound and a reinforced sidewall in its arsenal. And these tires look quite aggressive, which even in urban conditions distinguishes them from competitors.

NOKIAN ROTIIVA AT

A distinctive feature of the tire is its high strength and resistance to loads (the wear indicator allows you to accurately estimate the time of their replacement). Pretty quiet for an All-Terrain category. At temperatures above +20°C it becomes very soft, which increases the braking distance. It resists hydroplaning well and handles well on wet surfaces. Due to the softness of the rubber, rolling is observed at high speeds.

NOKIAN ROTIIVA AT PLUS

An all-season tire suitable for installation on both light crossovers and heavy SUVs. A large selection of sizes allows you to choose the right option for any car. Stabilizers on the central rib of the tire are responsible for good contact with the road, and wear is reduced by special cooling fins that reduce heat during long trips, which significantly increases the useful mileage. A distinctive feature of the AT plus model is the special structure of the grooves, thanks to which the stones do not get stuck in the tire, as a result of which the carcass remains intact longer.

PIRELLI SCORPION ATR

Another contender for the title of absolutely universal tire. In its arsenal, a rigid frame and reinforced sidewalls to protect against punctures and damage on off-road. As well as wide blocks combined with curved central grooves, which allow you to combine traction on soft soils with effective braking on asphalt. The manufacturer positions the Scorpion ATR as a balanced model suitable for use in a 50/50 ratio.

TOYO OPEN COUNTRY A/T PLUS

The asymmetric tread pattern combines good on-road handling with wear resistance and off-road capability. The tire contains a high content of silicon dioxide, which significantly increases the service life and reduces rolling resistance. In addition, rigid sidewall ribs protect the tire from rapid wear.

YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR A/T G015

An updated classic with improved performance. The shape and arrangement of the grooves and sipes is optimized to reduce noise and vibrations. The rubber compound has been changed to improve handling and grip. The sidewalls have a pronounced aggressive design to enhance traction in off-road conditions. The wide-profile tread increases the contact patch, and the new four-groove system effectively evacuates water.

BONTYRE STALKER M/T

Due to the compromised handling on hard surfaces, it is perfect for expedition use. Not too noisy on pavement. Deep tread pattern provides reliable grip on off-road, especially in mud. Developed shoulder blocks and reinforced cord protect the tire from damage and increase its wear resistance. Stalker M/T allows you to significantly reduce pressure on soft soils. Thanks to the soft rubber compound, the contact patch is increased even on light vehicles.

BFGOODRICH MUD-TERRAIN T/A KM2

One of the most popular and proven tires on the market. Great for driving on all types of surfaces - from asphalt to moderate off-road. When used only on roads, it wears out quickly, after which the noise level increases noticeably. Due to the reinforced cord, it tolerates pressure reduction well. Aggressive side lugs design gives you confidence in sand and clay. Stable on asphalt

Mud-Terrain is one of the most popular categories of off-road tires that allows you to unleash the full potential of the 4x4 wheel arrangement. The variety of its options is extremely large: from highly specialized tires for professional use to quite universal models that can be used in everyday use. On the eve of the season, let's look at the most relevant options on our market so that the upcoming summer will be eventful and interesting.

CONTYRE EXPEDITION

Relatively soft rubber that performs well off-road. This is facilitated by a well-designed tread pattern, its significant depth and low tire weight. Well balanced. It has a good price-quality ratio.

COOPER DISCOVERER STT PRO

The manufacturer recommends 85% off-road use and only 15% on the road. The reasons for such a radical off-road focus are the aggressive tread pattern, soft rubber compound and Armor-Tek 3 technology, which reinforces the tire cord using a third layer of material. According to the European classification, they belong to the professional off-road type, intended for professional use.

CORDIANT OFF-ROAD

Tires with a good value for money, in many respects able to compete with famous brands. For wear resistance and strength, a two-layer cord and a special rubber composition are responsible. Developed shoulder blocks and a tread with a large depth of pattern will help in overcoming off-road. Due to the wide grooves, self-cleaning in mud is improved.

DICK CEPEK EXTREME COUNTRY

Universal off-road tires from the legendary manufacturer. Designed for high loads and harsh operating conditions. The tread pattern with wide grooves allows for good self-cleaning and improved traction on unpaved roads. The patented two-ply cord with High Tensile technology protects the tire from cuts and damage.

GENERAL TIRE GRABBER X3

New for 2017, designed for driving in difficult conditions and on any surface quality. The recommended usage ratio is 20% asphalt, 80% off-road. Deep grooves and a channel system allow the tire to self-clean quickly and maintain good traction. A system of ribs is integrated into the design of the cord, which protects against side cuts and increases wear resistance. Compared to the previous generation, noise performance on hard surfaces has been significantly improved.

GOODYEAR WRANGLER MT/R KEVLAR

This model uses Durawall technology to protect the tire from punctures and damage. Developed lateral lugs maintain traction, while the soft rubber compound provides compromise on pavement. The recognizable tire design will perfectly complement the look of any four-wheel drive vehicle.

HANKOOK DYNAPRO MT RT03

A model designed according to the traditional Mud-Terrain tire recipe. The main role is played by the nylon-reinforced construction, designed to protect the wheel from punctures and damage when overcoming sharp, embossed obstacles. Indirectly, the protective block passing from the tread to the sidewall also participates in this. Its second task is to maintain traction as much as possible on weakly bearing soils. The tread pattern with developed transverse grooves effectively removes water and dirt, preventing blurring.

KUMHO ROAD VENTURE KL71

A wide range of sizes allows you to choose tires of this model for almost any SUV. Due to the soft composition of the rubber, they do not make too much noise on the pavement and smooth out the bumps in the roadway. They easily tolerate pressure drops down to 0.8 atm. Quite heavy, which increases fuel consumption. Great for dirt road riding and expedition use in general.

MATADOR MP75 WISENTTA

Designed after the legendary BFGoodrich M/T. Shoulder blocks are well developed, which, combined with a large tread depth, provides decent off-road flotation. A strong cord keeps the integrity of the wheel in difficult conditions - on stony soil and dirt roads. The recommended ratio of off-road and paved roads is  - 85/15.

MAXXIS BIGHORN MT-762

They are good value for money. They feel great in the dirt - they quickly self-clean and successfully resist smearing. The possibility of studding allows you to use them in the winter. On pavement, they do well with hydroplaning and have outstanding directional stability for Mud-Terrain. The shoulder blocks of the tread are not strongly developed, which makes it a little difficult to get out of the rut. They tolerate a decrease in pressure well, but due to the very rigid sidewalls on light SUVs, the increase in the contact patch will be small.

MAXXIS MUDZILLA M-8080

Uncompromising mud rubber, the main advantages of which are wear resistance and self-cleaning of the tread. The shoulder area is reinforced with a special rubber compound. Departure from the track is better than many competitors, due to the developed system of side lugs. Large tread depth provides excellent traction on unpaved surfaces and rocks.

MICKEY THOMPSON BAJA CLAW RADIAL

A radial tire that performs well on light soils. Cannot compete with the narrow profile Super Swamper TSL Bogger, but shows good traction. Due to the directional tread pattern, it retains good grip on clay. It is recommended for use in summer, as the absence of lamellas can play a trick on you on slippery winter surfaces.

NITTO MUD GRAPPLER

A tire designed for severe operating conditions. First of all, the emphasis is on cross-country ability, therefore, like most representatives of the M / T category, you should not expect excellent handling and low noise from them. But in off-road conditions, large side lugs and a three-layer cord will come in handy, which will keep the tires on rocky areas, and the large distance between the tread blocks will improve their self-cleaning.

NITTO TRAIL GRAPPLER

A tire model that combines durability and flotation with comfort and safety on hard surfaces. The 3-ply cord, also used in the Mud Grappler, will protect the sidewall from cuts and damage. On pavement, the Trail Grappler is not very noisy and is quite effective against hydroplaning. Easily balanced and does not cause inconvenience when used in the city.

PIRELLI SCORPION MTR

A compromise tire option for both city and off-road use. On pavement, they retain acoustic comfort at the level of winter studded tires, and light off-road becomes quite surmountable. You should not be under any illusions and conquer the swamps - these tires are not for professional use. Compared to a road tire, the Scorpion MTR can offer a reasonable shift in performance towards moderate off-road performance.

PRO COMP XTREME MT2 RADIAL

One of the most famous tires of the famous manufacturer of off-road equipment. Due to the radial placement of polyester layers, engineers managed to achieve excellent grip and increased wear resistance. The tread is also located on the sidewalls of the tires, protecting the wheel from damage on rocky ground. The shoulder areas are well shaped and improve driving performance in the mud.

SIMEX EXTREME TREKKER 2

It belongs to the extreme direction of the Mud-Terrain category. Thanks to the directional tread pattern and the six-layer sidewall, it has excellent traction and high strength (Kevlar fibers are used in the rubber compound). Thanks to the directional tread pattern, it works great for moving forward. The non-standard angle of attack of the shoulder lugs allows you to reduce the size of the wheel, which is important for SUVs with small wheel arches. Like any other specialized rubber, with constant use on asphalt, it wears out quickly.

SIMEX JUNGLE TREKKER 2

Tires for heavy off-road, last but not least, intended for driving on asphalt. The non-directional tread pattern allows you to pass many obstacles in tension without developing high speed. Noisy on the pavement and moving faster than 90 km / h will not work. The sidewalls are very rigid - even with a decrease in pressure, the contact patch increases slightly. They are positioned as a cardinal way to improve the patency of the car without making changes to the design.

TOYO OPEN COUNTRY MT

A tire designed to keep the car's traction properties off-road as long as possible. The shoulder blocks of the tread are made in a toothed shape, which favorably affects self-cleaning. The sipes have a great depth, and the tread itself extends far beyond the sidewalls. This improves the rut behavior of the SUV and also gives the tire an aggressive look. The cord is made of three layers of polyester, which allows it to withstand increased loads.

SUPER SWAMPER TSL BOGGER

A real legend for all fans (and professionals) of extreme off-road conquest. It is not intended for driving on asphalt: it wears out quickly and makes driving difficult. Fully reveals its potential on soft soils. Due to the deep tread and developed side lugs, it allows you to continue driving in the most difficult conditions. Tolerates pressure drops down to 0.4 atm. It is a niche tool, for the full use of which experience and a prepared car are required.

YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR M/T+

Among the interesting features that make this model stand out are the double slotted tread grooves that improve traction in mud. It should also be noted that the multilayer cord, thanks to which the lateral loads are better distributed, which preserves the integrity of the tires. Due to the special composition of Geolandar M / T + rubber, they have increased wear resistance on asphalt surfaces.

January 31, 2018. Review and rating of all-season tires in 2018.

Today, Vilka will please its regular customers and other visitors of the online resource with an interesting review of five pairs of tires from well-established manufacturers, whose products are most often bought by SUV owners.

To begin with, let's deal with the strange delusion of novice motorists who believe that any tires are suitable for off-road, the main thing is that the rubber is thicker and the brand is familiar. No. When choosing tires for an SUV, first of all, their purpose for a specific road surface is taken into account. For this purpose, manufacturers have specially marked their products with the following abbreviations:

  • HP or High Performance. It means that the tires are designed for high-speed driving (no more than 210 km / h) and strictly on asphalt.
  • HT or Half Terrain. This marking is given to tires that will be used on asphalt surfaces, poor quality roads and primed surfaces. They cannot be driven off-road. The maximum speed of movement is no more than 180 km / h.
  • AT or All Terrain- the main topic of our review. The rubber is designed to move on roads of various qualities, which is ideal for rural areas. With their help, you can cross simple off-road sections, and maintain a speed of no more than 140 km / h on the highway.
  • MT or Mud Terrain. Used for off-road and dirt roads. It is difficult to move on asphalt on them - the car is poorly controlled, and such tires wear out quickly. You can drive along the highway with more or less comfortable sensations at a speed of no higher than 80 km / h.

At the same time, the types of tires can be distinguished by eye by their tread pattern: the degree of depth and aggressiveness - the higher it is, the better the rubber will behave off-road, but the less comfort there will be when moving.

However, let's get back to the review of five pairs of tires. The list included:

  • BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2;
  • Hankook Dynapro AT-M RF10;
  • Cooper Discoverer AT3;
  • Nokian Retiiva AT Plus;
  • Yokohama Geolander A/T G015.

And now we will look at them in more detail.

Review of the best tires for SUVs and crossovers AT

BF Goodrich- the brand, once owned by the American company Goodrich Corporation, was bought out by another manufacturer of car tires - the French Michelin. And you can not say that it did not benefit him. On the contrary, the French manufacturer, known for tires for motorcycle and motorsport, has not changed its tradition of introducing innovative technologies in the acquired brand.

Tire advantages:

  • excellent grip on wet roads in all conditions;
  • high strength and reliability;
  • minimal noise during movement;
  • long period of operation.

The Nokian brand is owned by the Finnish tire manufacturing company Nokian Tires. The latter specializes in the manufacture of tires for use in regions with difficult climatic conditions. It was Nokian Tires that released the world's first winter tires, and on the 80th anniversary of this significant event, showed another novelty with retractable studs.

Tire advantages:

  • good grip on wet roads;
  • high controllability and stability;
  • reduced internal heating;
  • extended period of use.

The Yokohama brand, like Geolander, is owned by the Japanese company of the same name Yokohama Rubber Company, which manufactures aviation, automobile and racing tires. In its products, the manufacturer uses the latest technological developments, applying innovative approaches and solutions. The company is also an official partner of the Russian circuit racing series.

The model is designed for the summer season. Especially for these tires, the company has developed a special mixture "nanoBlend Compound", which includes silicate, orange oil and universal polymers. Due to this, the sliding moment is reduced during ice and there is no deformation of the rubber itself. Tire advantages:

  • excellent grip and smooth ride in all conditions;
  • increased strength and wear resistance;
  • excellent handling at high speed;
  • long period of use.

So the review of five pairs of tires from the Fork has ended. If any model for an SUV interests you, then on our website you can purchase it in the right size right now. Also on their pages there is information with a complete overview of the characteristics. We are waiting for your requests!

There are two classifications of tires for off-road - AT and MT. When buying an SUV in a car dealership, it will most often have asphalt tires installed on it. Therefore, if the owner wants to drive not only on asphalt, but also on rough terrain, it is worth considering what tires to buy.

Tires with markings AT (All Terrain), which in translation from English means "for all types of coatings." These tires have average performance both on the track and off-road. In general, on a hard surface, such tires behave quite well. Naturally, they are an order of magnitude worse adapted to driving on asphalt than ordinary road tires, but all SUVs are not cars for high speeds.

With AT tires it is quite comfortable to keep speeds up to 140 km / h, nothing more. To some extent, they have an increased braking distance, and are also prone to aquaplaning at high speed, they have increased rigidity, are noisy, have a sufficiently high rolling resistance, and increase gasoline consumption. All these qualities are not noticeable in the city, but on the highway you need to be a little more careful.

Behavior in off-road conditions

With such tires, you can go off-road, but not all sections will be available for overcoming. Where there is moderately hard ground, sand, a little dirt, the owner of a car with AT tires can still drive, but it’s better not to go into extreme sports if you’re not sure. Under extreme it is necessary to understand very strong, deep dirt - from 20 cm and more. It can and will work out there, but you need to adapt and sweat a lot. The tread of such rubber is not very suitable for mud, all for the same reason that the manufacturers have laid in it the ability to move comfortably on asphalt.

On this rubber in difficult conditions can be loaded in the mud. This can happen because the tread pattern is poorly self-cleaning, however, it quickly clogs with dirt, and the tire turns into a slick. This is due to the fact that the gaps between the "teeth" are not large. Some experienced drivers argue that it is recommended to pass difficult sections at a speed when the wheel has self-cleaned in motion, the tread has not yet clogged, and in this case it will be easier to overcome the obstacle. You can improve the situation by releasing the pressure a little, but do not forget that this can lead to wheel breaking.

On the rest of the dry surface of various consistencies, the rubber behaves quite well. It is worth buying such tires for those who do not want to make a full SUV out of their car, but just want to use the car in the city, with outings to nature and fishing.

Tires with MT marking

The name of these tires is: Mud Terrain, i.e. "for dirt". They are rubber with a rough, high tread. The main purpose is operation in difficult off-road conditions. It behaves badly on the track, wears out quickly, the car is poorly controlled. But still, with the speed 60-80 km/h can move around more or less. Due to its rough toothy profile with large gaps between the teeth, handling on the pavement is significantly reduced.

If there are sections with asphalt along the way, you can slowly overcome them. But there may be varieties of tires that, due to their tread pattern, are quite capable of behaving on asphalt, but this is rare.

Off-road behavior

This is where expanse begins for a car with such tires. After all, this is the element for MT tires. Here they feel very confident, when developing such rubber, the main emphasis was made taking into account the fact that the car will be used in severe off-road conditions.

It behaves equally well on loose, hard soils and in mud. For example, when driving through dirt, an owner with AT tires will experience difficulties, if he had MT tires instead, then he would pass this section lightly, without spending much effort. This rubber can overcome almost any dirt without any problems. What do AT and MT rubber have in common? First of all, this is the ability to use it off-road, although AT tires show results an order of magnitude lower than MT, but it is ahead of it on asphalt.

Differences between AT and MT tires

There are two main differences here: the first is that MT rubber is almost impossible to comfortably operate on asphalt, unlike AT. For that, on the contrary, it is comfortable on the road. AT rubber is generally suitable for asphalt, but is used on it with limitations and with some deterioration in high speed behavior. Not as good off-road performance as MT rubber does, some difficult sections are beyond its power.
