In this video, see a brief description and test drive of a 200 cc tricycle. At the bottom of the article it is indicated where you can find many videos that show how to make such a tricycle with your own hands. The beginning of the story with the assembly of this cargo bike can also be viewed on our website. This vehicle is equipped with a 200 cc engine with 6 and a half horsepower. A penny four-speed gearbox is linked to the engine by a centrifugal clutch. The gearbox contributes to the best distribution of forces that are necessary for the operation of the tricycle. Since it was assembled in artisanal conditions, most of the spare parts are either used or new from the metal base. Therefore, in the front of the frame, the wheels are taken from Soviet mopeds.

The big advantage of this vehicle is the almost independent suspension. It is made from a rear shock absorber from a motorcycle Izh. The front part is made of silent blocks. On the rear main rail are attached two mounts with which the body is attached. The main source of electricity in this tricycle is the generator from the Belarus tractor.

The entire history of the assembly of the tricycle can be viewed on YouTube, the SEREGA channel. TV.

Homemade tricycle IZH Jupiter-5

This tricycle based on Jupiter-5 was assembled by the village “home-made craftsman” Vitaly Borovskoy. Such a wheel formula allows the motorcycle to behave stably in complete off-road conditions, which provides quite comfortable driving conditions, unlike two-wheeled counterparts.

The motorcycle practically remains unchanged, only the rear wheel is sent for replacement, instead of which a gearbox with axle shafts from the Ant cargo scooter is installed. But in this case, the author went in a rather non-standard way and made home-made axle shafts from scrap, ordering boring splines to fit the standard size from a familiar turner .

The rear wheels and hubs are from the Domestic VAZ car, in the winter and snowy season, for better grip with the road surface, the author puts chains on the wheels, so the cross-country ability of the tricycle increases many times.

It is advisable to install forced air cooling, because the load on the engine with two rear wheels is slightly higher than in the standard configuration. The problem of overheating of aluminum cylinders of a motorcycle engine is solved by installing an electric motor with the possibility of forcing air (a motor from a car stove) is connected to the on-board network of a tricycle and air is supplied to the cylinder heads through corrugated sockets.

And so let's look at the design features of a homemade tricycle assembled on the basis of the Soviet motorcycle Jupiter-5

The tricycle is stable and you can safely ride it off-road. By putting chains on the rear wheels, the cross-country ability increases.

Having besieged the motorcycle in spring snow along the very axle shaft, the movement still continues, but the main thing here is not to overheat the internal combustion engine until forced cooling is installed.

Spring thaw is nothing to him.

Hi all!
I don’t know how to write a lot and beautifully, so the text is small, well, there are more photos)
Actually, when I first saw the Irbit Blues trike from KBMTS, I really liked it because the design is very simple and the budget for construction will be small. The thought "it is necessary to build" stuck in my head, but then there was neither time nor opportunity, and maybe I would not have had the mind to master it all then (I studied at school). But time goes by, now the 5th course of ped. Institute, you need to write a diploma. A classmate had a topic about something about circle activities and it was desirable to make applications (I unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, managed without applications at all), he was offered to assemble a uni-moto, but I received a proposal for a trike. Ural still stood idle for 3 years, and another glance at the blues did not give me peace. Since the deadlines were tight, the budget was small, let's say this type was just right for us. The solution was to build! but not the same, but simpler.

Few characteristics:
M-67 engine standard, only air filter from M-2141
Bridge VAZ-2107 with GP 3.9
Brakes: rear - hydraulics (the role of the GTZ is played by the clutch cylinder M-412), front - no
Wheels: front - Izh R18, rear - now R13, but put any)
The frame to the rear stud of the internal combustion engine is standard, after the pipe 40mm 4mm wall, in the places of the bend inside there is another pipe.

So, sample

there were many skeptics who said "it will shake, roll over, the turning radius will be greater than Kamaz, acceleration will be dead", but:
- no, it doesn't shake, the pressure in the rear wheels is 1 atm.
- sustainable
- turning radius is less than that of a stroller
- acceleration is a cross between with and without a sidecar
as well as a lot of people who said "why won't there be anything else?" and the answer “no, it won’t” apparently did not shock them, then the phrase “but how so, you still need something” was heard.

Few people know, but you can make a tricycle with your own hands from Izh in an ordinary garage with a fairly small budget. A small trike will have a comfortable fit, dynamics, good handling, and the lightness of the frame will allow you to accelerate at a fairly high speed.

The model itself can be implemented hard bike style, with leather trim, steel chrome inserts, or a more sporty look, with streamlined body shapes and lines. Drawings of a tricycle from Izh can have accents on long trips, or on active driving over difficult rough terrain, copy models of well-known brands, adjusted for size. Much depends on the budget and the time you are willing to invest in your hobby.

Some motorists make a tricycle from Izh with their own hands in order to have a reliable and convenient housekeeper. A reinforced frame, a powerful rear axle will allow you to carry decent loads, and the reliable IZH engine is easy to maintain.

Frame

It will be easier to make an Izh tricycle with your own hands if you have experience in welding, understand the design of motorcycles or cars. The frame will have to be completely made from scratch, have a pre-designed shape and design. Usually, the calculation is done in such a way as to exclude breakdowns, places with vulnerable structures, so that the trike can travel hundreds of kilometers without maintenance.

Gain is achieved by welding of corners and additional pipes so that the fork does not vibrate. The basis of the transmission can be taken from a walk-behind tractor, combines. If you want to get a traction-type Izh Planet tricycle, it is better to use sprockets in a ratio of 2: 1, i.e. 50 and 25 teeth respectively.

Fork

The length of the fork is determined by your project. If you want to make a long front fork, this trike is suitable for flat roads and long rides. A more aggressive driving style will require a shorter length. A tricycle from Izh, photos of various mods of which can be found on amateur forums, may even have a trunk located above the front wheel. Of course, trikes are not competitive with ATVs in terms of cross-country ability, but for trips to the country house, garden or fishing, the invested work will pay off with interest.

Engine

Do-it-yourself Izh tricycle is made on the basis of the Planet 3 model. In this case, the native crankshaft, generator, ignition coil of 6 volts are used. A feature of the type of body structure is the transfer of the power unit to the rear, which shifts the balance when driving. Moreover, such a scheme determines the high characteristics of cross-country ability, controllability, and, consequently, speed.

During the installation of the engine and the creation of the frame, it is worthwhile to provide convenient access to places that require frequent maintenance. Many craftsmen make quick-release sections of the frame in order to be able to further customize their three-wheeled iron horse. If you are interested in how to make a tricycle from Izh, and how much time and money it will take, try to get not just a design drawing, but a detailed diagram and a step-by-step installation plan for the units. Better yet, watch the detailed instructions and video review!

Probably, everyone at least once in their life saw huge three-wheeled motorcycles, on which no less huge bearded men in leather vests and iron helmets surf the roads. And more than once we looked at photos from motor shows or exhibitions, where steel horses flaunt under the flags of their motorcycle clubs. These vehicles are called tricycles or trikes because they have three wheels instead of two.

These motorcycles are specially designed for long and comfortable trips, have amazing capacity and power. The only drawback of these models is that they are rarely found on sale. And if there are any (especially if they are the brainchild of famous brands), then their cost will be very high. What to do if you want to own such a bike, but there is no big money and no acquisition opportunities? There is only one answer - create it yourself.

How to make a tricycle

To create a homemade trike, we will use two other vehicles - a ZAZ-968 car and a heavy Ural motorcycle. The result should be a very powerful and fairly reliable tricycle, on which you can conquer hundreds of kilometers.

General design drawings

Our tricycle will be a single structure of ZAZ-968 and Ural. But in order to assemble one, you must have a drawing, thanks to which you can clearly see the location of all parts and components.

1, 2 - front wheel and fender; 3 - front wheel suspension system; 4, 5 - headlight and headlight bracket; 6 - speedometer; 7 - gas tank; 8, 9 - lever and gearbox; 10 - battery; 11 - seat back; 12 - rear lights; 13 - air filter; 14 - engine; 15 - cooler; 16 - oil-air radiator; 17 - mufflers; 18 - rear wheel; 19 - elastic coupling; 20 - brake rod; 21 - brake pedal; 22 - beep; 23 - struts of the rear wing; 24 - shock absorbers; 25 - frame for mounting the radiator and muffler; 26, 27 - rear wing and its mounting console; 28 - front console; 29 - wing bracket; 30 - rear wheel suspension arms; 31, 32 - gas and brake handles, respectively; 33 - ignition lock; 34, 35 - clutch pedal and clutch rod; 36 - speed switch; 37 - steering wheel.

Design features of the tricycle:

  • special scarves were used to strengthen all joints;
  • the upper beam is a support for the rear shock absorbers, therefore, glasses are welded to it, which are the same in design as automobile ones;
  • frames are welded to the kerchiefs and slopes on the central beam, which are necessary for the passenger to have steps and at the same time act as a support for the suspension strikers;
  • the lower crossbar is attached to the frame with brackets and struts, playing the role of the basis for the pedal assemblies;
  • the strut on the cross frame mount is necessary to support the entire gearshift mechanism.

The layout of the tricycle differs significantly from the standard motorcycle. The main difference is that the power unit is located at the back and the balance is shifted back, which gives an extra reason for adrenaline - with a sharp acceleration, the motorcycle rears up.

The engine, like the gearbox, was removed from the ZAZ-968 car and no significant modifications were carried out on it. Only mufflers, an oil cooler from the car and an air filter have been added to the overall design of the rear of the trike. Everything else has completely and completely remained the same as on the ZAZ-968. The engine mount remains the same, the gear lever is on the left (due to the fact that the driver's right hand is located on the throttle control lever). The linkage of the gearbox mechanism is connected to the box through a conventional hinge, which are installed on domestic cars.

The front suspension fork works on the same principle as on the Ural. A lever scheme is used, and the front wheel axle is located between the wishbones. In general, you have to change a little - you only need to lengthen the borrowed front fork of the Ural.

DIY assembly

Having a diagram and knowing the individual nuances of the process itself, we begin the step-by-step process of assembling a homemade tricycle.

The end result is a trike, the technical characteristics and appearance of which are in no way inferior to tricycles that have been seen before.

Video clip about the tricycle IZH

In this video, you can see what a homemade trike based on the IZH Planet 5 motorcycle looks like in the end.

Below are a few trikes with an interesting and memorable design.

The design of this homemade swamp rover is so simple that almost any car enthusiast can repeat it in their own garage. The basis of the swamp is the IZH Planet 3 motorcycle. Izh Planet motorcycles often become donors in all-terrain homemade products, this is primarily due to the endurance and unpretentiousness of their engines.

The main feature of this home-made swamp is that during its design, turning work is reduced to a minimum. I had to turn to the turner only once, so that they cut out a seat on a 50-tooth sprocket in order to put it on the differential of the Moscow bridge.

Swamp Bridge

The bridge was taken from a Muscovite and modernized. The bearing mounts were cut out from the doll by a grinder, then the tow bar was welded to the stocking of the bridge (if it is not welded, the stocking will warp when you cut it in half), then the stocking itself is cut in order to fix the sprocket. The chain tensioner is also borrowed from the combine.

Swamp wheels

The KF-97 cameras were used from an agricultural trailer of the T-150 tractor. The tire for such a chambered wheel is the same chamber, only cut to a smaller diameter. First, the "tire" is put on, then it is tightened with straps. The transverse harnesses turned out to be 1.02m long, and the longitudinal strip was 3.5m long. The width of the longitudinal strip is 30 centimeters. Cross belts with a longitudinal strip are connected with bolts.

Swamp Discs

The disks from the field were taken as the basis, cut in half with the help of a small grinder and lengthened by 30 centimeters with steel plates welded between the halves of the disks (6 plates in total). The disc is covered with a chamber from a VAZ car, cut along a larger diameter. Since the discs were used from Niva, and the bridge from a Muscovite, the rear discs had to be cut at the attachment points.

Frame, brakes and transmission

The frame from the motorcycle is lengthened and reinforced. So that the pendulum fork does not "walk", it was welded. The chain and stars are borrowed from the combine. Their ratio is 2 to 1. A small star for 25 teeth, it is attached to the drum with eight hardened bolts for 10. A large star for 50 teeth. The braking system of the swamp is no different from any other, so the brakes are left unchanged. But the drum has been upgraded for sprocket mounts.

Fork

The length of the fork feathers of this swamp is 800mm, while its width is approximately equal to 700mm. The axle of the front wheel was used from a donor - an IZH motorcycle. On one side, an extension pipe 500 mm long is welded to the axle. This pipe is inserted into the modernized Izhevsk drum bolted to the wheel. On the other hand, the axle is screwed into the same mount as on the fork leg. The mount was cut off from the shock absorber and welded to the feather (it is not visible in the photo since it is inserted into the pipe and welded).

The fork is attached to the steering wheel of the swamp quite simply. 2 pipes are inserted into the shock absorber mount.

ATV engine

The engine is from the IZH-Planet 3 motorcycle with forced air cooling from the SZD motorized carriage (popularly "Invalidka"). The crankshaft is native - planetary, not "SZDshny", since the seat for the generator at "SZDshny" does not fit (it is larger), and there is an Izh 6v ignition coil on the swamp.
