The carrying capacity of all cars is the same and is 475 kg, and the trunk volume is 260 liters.

Well, as we see, the auto industry did not deceive with the parameters - small improvements (within 10% in terms of volume and weight of cargo, as well as fuel economy) in Kalina are noticeable compared to the first version.

The steering wheel itself in the new car is also mounted differently. Due to all this, the sensitivity of control and the rigidity of the steering system have increased. The car reacts faster to the actions of the driver, it has become easier to go around obstacles and bumps on the roadway.

In addition, one cannot help but pay attention to the new anti-lock braking system of the car, which, in the “luxury” configuration, is also supplemented by a stabilization program. The design of the brake system has changed somewhat - some of the parts are now imported.


Suspension and chassis

The front suspension of the Kalina 2 of 2013, compared to the previous model, has a larger stabilizer section and changed, for the better, characteristics of shock absorbers and springs. The rear suspension has become a little stiffer, which reduced the roll of the car and made it more stable on the road. I arrived at the assembly plant in Togliatti on the day the production of the second generations of LADA Kalina. Representatives of the plant say that this is the most "stuffed" car in the history of VAZ. And we believe, because in the list additional options the top configuration "Lux" will, for a moment, have rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors, heating threads for the entire area of ​​the windshield, navigation system and even ESP! If you look inside the old and the new Renault sedan Logan, then apart from the word "foreign car" you will not be able to feel any other pleasant emotions. It was with this definition that the owners consoled and amuse themselves budget cars, including Chinese. But inside LADA Kalina 2 is not only not worse, but even better. A pleasant impression is reinforced not only visually: buttons and levers do not irritate like a cheap Chinese toy, and other Skoda and Volkswagens would envy the control logic of a touch monitor. Add to this a grown-up appearance with headlights a la VW Polo, and you get a pretty and even quite European look.

The basis of the new "Kalina" is the platform of state employees LADA Granta with slightly modernized undercarriage. The new model has a more rigid front stabilizer transverse stability, the thickness of which has increased from 22 to 24 mm. In sets with mechanical box there are front and rear suspensions from "Grants", on the version with automatic transmission - stiffer springs with a changed length and thickness of the bar, borrowed from the first Kalina Sport. As for the shock absorbers, they did not change - all versions use "racks" manufactured by SAAZ - like on the "Grant", only with the index "21928" instead of "21900" and suspicious "test drive" stickers on test cars.

LADA Kalina 2 has not lost the main advantage of its predecessor - soft suspension, indifferent to all hardships. They do an excellent job with broken asphalt, but it is worth adding gas - and hello longitudinal buildup. Moreover, the "automatic" Kalina throws no worse than the version on the "mechanics".

The steering rack is one of weaknesses the first "Kalina" - to the delight of the future owners, received a new rigid fixture. Ladas have never been distinguished by outstanding sound insulation, and the new Kalina is no exception, despite the fact that VAZ designers have made a lot of efforts to reduce the level of noise and vibrations in the cabin: new engine mounts have been installed, an additional muffler with a soft bellows, on both types body reinforced support shelves luggage. And in the "Norma" and "Lux" trim levels, an additional complex is provided, including more plugs for hidden body cavities, an improved soundproofing package for the bottom and front panel.
