The “first Age” has been produced in Canada since the end of 2006 and has not yet been officially introduced to our market, but in 2014 this defect was eliminated and, one of the most popular crossovers in the USA, is about to appear in the showrooms of Russian dealers. In the meantime, the "new" is preparing to storm our roads, we have time to get to know her better.

The Ford Edge crossover during the last restyling (this version will appear on our market) received a rather brutal appearance, neatly diluted with chrome elements that give the car the necessary amount of nobility and elegance. In terms of dimensions, the novelty will be quite to the taste of lovers of “serious” cars: the body length of the Edge is 4679 mm, while the wheelbase length is 2825 mm. The width of the crossover is limited to 1930 ~ 2223 mm (without mirrors and with them), and the height rests on the mark of 1702 mm. A solid ground clearance (205 mm) will allow the "Age" not to be afraid of "roughness" on Russian roads.

The interior of the "new for Russia" crossover has a traditional five-seater layout and a decent level of finish. Its interior has a high degree of ergonomics, equipped with all the comfort systems that are popular today, as well as a 60:40 folding rear row of seats. What is remarkable is that this power unit, apparently due to the fact that it is from America, does not disdain 92nd gasoline.

Unlike North America, this crossover will be presented in our market only in the version with the All-Wheel Drive intelligent all-wheel drive system. In constant mode, the thrust will be transmitted to the front axle, but when the front wheels slip, part of the torque will go to the rear axle through a multi-plate clutch. Given the presence of all-wheel drive, the average fuel consumption is predicted by the developers at 11.5 liters per 100 kilometers.

The car is based on the Ford CD3 platform, also known from the Ford Fusion and Mazda CX-9. Suspension on the Edge is fully independent, using a MacPherson strut design at the front and a multi-link system with an anti-roll bar at the rear.
