Before installing a new Renault Logan anti-roll bar, it is recommended to find out its principle of operation.

Purpose of the device

The functions of the unit include:

  • stabilization of the position of the vehicle on the road;
  • reduction of body roll when cornering;
  • increase the grip of wheels with asphalt;
  • even load distribution.

The Renault Logan stabilizer is presented in the form of a metal beam, each side of which is attached to the axle wheels. Experts distinguish between front and rear racks on Logan. To install them, use bushings. The design in question is fixed to the car body.

When replacing a device, its rigidity is taken into account. This parameter of the front stabilizer has a direct effect on the steering of the vehicle at the beginning of the movement. Due to the increased rigidity, roll increases, traction on the front wheels decreases, traction on the rear wheels decreases. With a low stiffness value, lateral roll is reduced. To ensure greater reliability, completely eliminating the possibility of a rollover of the car, a soft front stabilizer is installed.

The device in question is a Renault Logan suspension component. The unit connects the wheels due to the stop. Spring steel is used for the manufacture of large-section and U-shaped rods. In this brand of car, the stabilizer is located across the body. It is fixed with clamps. Stabilizer bushings provide rotation of the main structure. The device is fixed to the suspension by shock absorber struts or levers.

Front link: 1 - suspension subframe; 2 - suspension arm with silent blocks and ball joint; 3 - steering knuckle with hub and bearing; 4 - shock absorber; 5 - anti-roll bar.

If the bushing burst, then the suspension performance deteriorates. In this case, the vehicle is repaired. Auto mechanics recommend installing polyurethane bushings and stabilizer struts for Renault Logan.

Instructions for replacing the unit

To replace the anti-roll bar, disassemble the chassis. The replacement of the stabilizer bar, bushings and the main device is carried out using a jack, a set of keys, coupler heads. Experts recommend replacing the stabilizer components in pairs (to ensure uniform wear).

Pre-dismantle the stabilizer protection. It is bolted on. Since the standard protection is made of plastic, it is recommended to replace it with a metal structure. To unscrew the earrings, use a standard ratchet. The new stabilizer is raised. The bushings are inserted into the sockets, the earrings are fixed. The last operation is carried out with moderate force. The protective structure is installed in place.

To replace the parts of the anti-roll bar, use the keys to "10", "13", the socket head to "18", TORX T40. First unscrew the nut of the stabilizer bar fixing bolt. In this case, it is necessary to keep the bolt from turning. Then the lower silent block is dismantled. The rubber bushing is dismantled. The next step is to remove the rod fixing bolt and eversion the rear subframe mounting bolt. If it is necessary to unscrew the 2 rear subframe mounting bolts, then the stops are preliminarily installed under the structure.

Then unscrew the fixing nut of the rod bracket. To remove the rubber cushion, you will need to pry with a screwdriver and remove the rod mounting bracket. If the silent block and pillows are worn out or damaged, then they are replaced. New parts are purchased taking into account the VIN code and the technical characteristics of Renault Logan.

In the same way, remove the 2 bolt fixing the rod and the fastening bracket. Then the stabilizer bar is dismantled. Parts are installed in reverse order.

The rubber elements of the stabilizer - bushings and pillows - are replaced in case of cracking, tearing and swelling of the rubber, as well as in case of their significant wear, in which there is a backlash in the connection of the parts.
We hang out the front of the car.
Before unscrewing the nut of the screw securing the stabilizer bar to the front suspension arm, it is necessary to carefully clean the screw head from dirt, into the socket of which the Torx key will need to be inserted. If the key does not enter the screw head completely, then with a significant force that occurs in the threaded connection damaged by corrosion when the nut is unscrewed, the screw and the key can be damaged.

With a “13” ring wrench, unscrew the nut securing the stabilizer bar to the suspension arm, holding the screw from turning with the “Torx T-40” wrench.

Remove the bottom rubber bushing.

A metal washer is installed in the recess of the end of the sleeve facing the nut.

We take out the screw with the upper rubber bushing and plastic washer.

Hand pull down the end of the bar ...

... and take out the rubber-metal intermediate sleeve.

Similarly, we remove the details of attaching the stabilizer bar to another lever. Install new parts in reverse order. Tighten the nuts of the screws securing the stabilizer bar to the levers to the prescribed torque in the “car on wheels” position.

When installing the intermediate sleeve, we orient it with the grooves located on the outer surface of the sleeve upwards.

To replace the stabilizer bar pad...

... with a “18” head with an extension, we unscrew the bolt securing the cushion bracket and subframe to the body.

Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the nut securing the cushion bracket to the subframe.

We lower the bracket, removing its pin from the hole in the subframe ...

... and remove the bracket by removing its front end from the subframe groove.

We remove the pillow from the bar.

Install the new stabilizer bar bushing in reverse order.
Similarly, we replace the pillow on the other side of the stabilizer bar.
If it is necessary to dismantle the rod, disconnect both of its ends from the suspension arms and remove the cushion brackets (see above).

Remove the stabilizer bar.

Check out the stabilizer bar. There should be no deep abrasive wear in the places where the pillows are installed. Deep wear areas greatly increase the chance of rod breakage.
Install the anti-roll bar in reverse order.

Most Renault Logan owners are interested in the process of replacing such low-resource chassis parts as the transverse stabilizer struts. Diagnosing a failed element does not provide for the need for special and expensive equipment, and replacing the stabilizer struts is very simple, as well as replacing the stabilizer rubber bands.

Lateral stability is important at the time of maneuvering in corners and on suburban highways, and the suspension present in the design allows you to provide the car with this quality. Due to the perception of constant loads from transverse displacements, the racks are subject to wear. And then it is necessary to replace the rubber bands of the stabilizer and other parts. For the purpose of simplifying repairs, the manufacturer has provided for the simplicity of the design of these elements, which can be safely called consumables.

About modifications

Some modifications of Renault Logan provide for the presence of a stabilizer in the design of the rear suspension. Those owners of the model who have versions without rear stabilizers have the opportunity to install them themselves.

Here, the unpleasant moment is the loss of warranty service for the Renault Logan car, which has such a status. This factor deters many owners from attempting to manually intervene (stabilizer installation) in the factory design.

Running gear features

The rear axle of Renault Logan does not provide for the presence of racks, since the design is based on a continuous beam. Initially, this node is able to do without the presence of the elements in question. Fluctuations in the vertical plane are very negligible, and the body is protected from lateral rolls by a horizontal bar fixed on the axis.

If you touch the front chassis, then in its design there is a transverse stabilizer bar. The manufacturer declares that the absence of this element cannot have a negative impact on reducing the level of safety in motion. But practice shows: the presence of this part will not interfere with the confident behavior of the Renault Logan car.

How to diagnose?

It is quite difficult to independently diagnose a failed rack when it is necessary to replace the bushings of a stabilizer or other element. The sound of its hinge is very similar to the sound that a ball joint on the lever that has become unusable makes. If there are other negative sound effects, then you can suspect the Renault Logan steering rack in the wear of its elements.

A fairly effective search for the source of a knock will be the impact on each suspension joint individually. To do this, we press the rack with a mount and if this action succeeds, then we definitely resort to replacing the worn part, sometimes it is possible to replace the stabilizer bushings. The most reliable way to detect a faulty stabilizer link is to dismantle it, after which the worn hinge will play backlash under the influence of manual effort.

Replacement

The work involves the presence of a minimum of tools, because the replacement of the stabilizer struts is quite simple.

Stocking up in advance:

  • Open-end keys on: "10" and "13";
  • Key "TORX T40";
  • Head with the 18th standard size.

The procedure is performed according to the following algorithm.

  • We hang out in front of Renault Logan by means of jacks. Don't forget to secure your car with car stands. We recommend installing them under the subframe, which is especially important when dismantling not only the racks, but also the stabilization bar itself.
  • Before the start of the "operation", we process the threaded sections with a penetrating agent.
  • We unscrew the nut from the stabilizer strut fixing bolt, and then knock it out with a hammer.
  • Next, unscrew the bolts that fasten the stand itself directly.
  • Until the rack is removed, we “throw off” the brake hose from the bracket, which will ensure its safety during the indicated work.
  • The last step is to dismantle the rack mounting bushings (they must also be replaced).
  • Having dismantled both racks, we redirect our efforts to remove the bar. Here you should apply the technique of holding the nut with a Torx wrench with a size of "40". We unscrew it and then take out the bushing itself.
  • Next, we proceed to unscrewing the two bolts with which the anti-roll bar is fixed to the surface of the subframe.
  • We unscrew the nuts fixing the brackets. After these manipulations, the pillows with which the anti-roll bar is equipped are hooked with a suitable screwdriver and removed (can be taken aside).
  • Instead of dismantled pillows, it is recommended to install new analogues.

The assembly process is carried out according to the reverse algorithm. In this node, it is desirable to replace the entire list of components, which will allow you to forget about the malfunction for a certain period.

Conclusion

The material presented here shows the sequence of actions aimed at implementing the procedure for replacing the stabilizer struts in the Renault Logan model. It is not complicated, which once again confirms the practicality and design simplicity of this car.

Stabilizer links are parts of a car's suspension. They are responsible for minimizing roll when the car enters a turn. In all cars, the principle of operation of the part is the same, the same applies to Renault Logan. Thanks to the stabilizer struts of the Renault Logan, the suspension and the car body are connected into one. If there were no stabilizers in the device of the car, then when entering the turn, too much roll would form, and the car would roll over. When braking, the car would dive with its hood into the ground, and with a sharp start, it would rear up.

The stabilizer struts have a significant load, especially if the driver does not drive very carefully. The consequence of such operation of Renault Logan is the repair of stabilizer struts with your own hands or at a service station. Many people prefer to do this type of repair on their own, as it is cheaper and not difficult.

How it works and where is the anti-roll bar Renault Logan

The principle of operation of the anti-roll bar is focused on the repayment of translational waves that occur in various parts of the car on uneven roads when driving on them. Renault Logan stabilizer struts connect opposite wheels by means of a thrust element. The connection acts on twisting.

A stabilizer bar is installed on both the front and rear axles. This part is a large U-shaped rod, and it is made of spring steel. In Renault Logan, the stabilizer is located across and is fixed with clamps and rubber bushings. Due to the rubber bushings, the anti-roll bar is able to rotate. It is attached to the suspension with levers or a shock absorber strut.

Did you know? After replacing the stabilizer struts, there is no need to adjust the wheel alignment. Racks do not affect the angle of their inclination.

Reasons for replacing the stabilizer bar

Under operating conditions on bad roads, the load on the suspension is significant, and the racks become a consumable part. Their service life is in the range of 15-20 thousand kilometers. During operation, the sleeve may fray, burst. If this happens, the owner will feel it from the behavior of the car - it will noticeably shake on bumps, and the body will roll. When hitting speed bumps and other bumps, the car may make a knocking sound. Also among the symptoms that portend the need to replace the stabilizer struts - when driving, you need to catch a rut, constantly taxi.

To get rid of all the unpleasant consequences of the failure of the stabilizer strut, it must be repaired or a new one installed. Replacing the Renault Logan stabilizer struts does not involve any complicated steps. This work can be done independently, the whole procedure takes less than an hour.

Important! Failed stabilizer elements lead to breakage of other suspension parts. To avoid the need for more costly repairs, the vehicle should be periodically inspected for problems with the stabilizer bar.

How to replace the stabilizer bar Renault Logan

If the stabilizer link is pulled in the transverse direction and a knock is heard, this indicates a malfunction. You can solve this problem by replacing the rack. But, some owners are thinking about how to repair the stabilizer struts with their own hands. Thus, they try to reduce the cost of fixing the problem. But, in some cases, it is still more reliable to make a replacement.

Did you know? Repairing the stabilizer mounts will significantly reduce costs. It is not difficult to perform it, but there are some features. It is easier to restore the racks with bushings. With ball joints, the racks are restored for a short period.

To replace the rack, you need tools such as a hammer, screwdriver, adjustable wrench, jack, TORX.

The process of replacing the stabilizer strut Renault Logan:

  1. Loosen the nuts on the front wheel;
  2. Using a jack, raise the front of the body, or, if there is a lift, hang the car;
  3. The nuts are removed from the wheel, after which the wheel itself is removed;
  4. The stabilizer bar and the place of its attachment are cleaned of dirt;
  5. Item treated with WD-40;
  6. On the rack fixing bolt, loosen the nut with TORX and at the same time tighten the flat head of the bolt with an adjustable wrench;
  7. Remove the nut and cushion. If the pillow is oxidized and significant efforts are required to remove it, the bolt can be carefully knocked out with a hammer;
  8. When the pillow is removed, the bolt itself can be knocked out with a hammer. Use a screwdriver to knock out the bolt that has entered the rack housing out of the housing;
  9. After removing the bolt, bend the stabilizer and remove the rack housing;
  10. Clean the mounting holes on the suspension arm and stabilizer from dirt;
  11. The new strut is installed between the suspension arm and the stabilizer;
  12. You need to put on the top pillow on the bolt and insert it into the rack body;
  13. A pillow and a fixing nut are installed from below;
  14. Reassemble in reverse order.

Replacing the bushings of the stabilizer bar

Knocking on bumps in a Renault Logan car is present due to worn stabilizer bushings. This is the reason for the appearance of transverse and longitudinal play. Therefore, it is required to replace the Renault Logan anti-roll bar bushing.

Important! If a rubber squeak is heard on uneven sections of the road, it is necessary to check the stabilizer bushings. If you hear thuds, you need to check the racks.

Why change bushings

When worn, the bushings cause noise. In general, this detail is very important, without bushings, the metal is likely to break during the movement of the machine due to overload. Thanks to the bushings, the floating rotation of the stabilizer is ensured.

You should not wait until the bushings become completely unusable, it is recommended to change them every 1000 km.

How to make a replacement

To replace the rubber bands on the Renault Logan stabilizer, you will need a 10 mm wrench and an 18 mm ratchet.

On the left side of the car:

The first step is to process the WD-40 mounting studs. This will make loosening nuts and bolts easier. After removing them, you need to remove the bushing bracket and replace it with a new one.

On the right side of the car:

Remove the silencer rubber, partially unscrew the protection of the fuel and brake pipes. This will provide more room to unscrew the stabilizer bushing bracket stud. After all, we replace the sleeve and assemble everything in the reverse order.
