1. Flour of choice, or how I got to this unit.

And my car career is not at all great - I got my license a year and a half ago, before Grants there was a VAZ 2112 (with 126 engine), so the comparison will be mainly with this car. I owned my "dvenashka" for a little over a year, I suffered with it - don't worry, mother. In short - the car was, as they say, "not for, but in spite of." Bought as "almost in perfect condition", but in fact it turned out to be beaten, painted and with a bunch of problems. What are only 3 torn timing belts and 2 melted ignition coils on 1 cylinder per year.

To be honest, I got tired of investing in it, and so more than half of the original cost of the car was spent in a year. I sold it, surprisingly, instantly, and for a good price. Therefore, an ad written according to all the rules of marketing really works. I have absolutely no regrets about choosing the twelfth as the first car, it was with her that the entire technical device of the car was really studied and the first driving skills were obtained.

After the sale of the twelfth began to consider different options. The criterion was, at first, one - a NEW car. Any, most importantly new. I want to answer right away to everyone who writes that it was better to buy a used European / Japanese / American / Guatemalan / Ethiopian or someone else - I just wanted a NEW car, so I chose what I chose.

With the proceeds from the car / the accumulated money, it was possible to buy only a sedan in the Standard or Nexia Grant, but I was ready for that. After my parents agreed to add a certain amount to me, for which I am immensely grateful to them, there were four selection criteria: the car must be new, with an automatic transmission (because the left leg was already pumped in St. Petersburg traffic jams), with air conditioning (because I I can afford to go without a car) and with a complete set, which at least at the initial stage of ownership would not have to get into (because I firmly believe that what is installed in the factory will work much more competently than what is installed by the crooked handles of the masters, who absolutely do not care how carefully and durable the equipment is delivered (and, in my experience, unfortunately, the majority of them).

For half a million rubles with my selection criteria, you can’t really clear up, I realized this in the first days of the search. Either Uzbeks (Daewoo Gentra), or Chinese (for all tastes and colors), or the domestic auto industry. Solaris, Rio, Logan - with a similar configuration, they turned out to be 100 thousand more expensive, and I didn’t really like Almera in itself. I tried to ride the Polo - well, I didn’t like it, it doesn’t ride at all. The delay between pressing the gas and the start of movement is just hellish, no way. And the hope woke up in me that finally VAZ began to produce competitive cars.

The manager was discharged from abroad (just like in the days of the formation of Rus'), so they adjusted the machine, and installed all sorts of security systems with airbags and isofixes, and a radio with a touch screen. Beauty, in a word. I re-read all the possible reviews about Grants / Kalina 2 and made one conclusion - the cars are really good, they stopped breaking down after a kilometer of the trip, they were made, although they were quite budgetary, but they fully meet all my requirements. Yes, and the grants have a liftback design, it looks, in my opinion, worthy. Although the taste and color. And in early November, it was decided - I will take.

2. Dealer selection and purchase

To take is to take. And do everything quickly enough, otherwise the ruble continues to plummet, and prices, on the contrary, begin to climb up.

In St. Petersburg, as of November 2014, I counted enough official Lada dealers, I chose the five most famous for myself. And he started calling. We needed a Lada Granta liftback Lux with a black automatic, because we wanted uncompromisingness - black or white. White Grant did not excite me too much, this color goes to Kalina 2 station wagon. But the black one is the juice. Such a car was not available anywhere, and in 2 out of 5 salons they refused to order it even with an advance payment.

As a result, I stopped at the Vasileostrovsky Auto Center, because. it is closest to my house, they ordered a car for me, they accepted an advance payment of 10,000 rubles and promised gifts with additional equipment in the same 10 thousand. It is worth noting here that you can receive a gift from the Lada car dealership only if you convince the manager that in another salon you were offered an even bigger gift and you are thinking of contacting them. As a result, the gifts were promised: steering lock Garant Lux, carpets and, possibly, crankcase.

The full amount of money, for some reason, was supposed to appear only by the end of November, so the waiting time for the car was not critical. She arrived 2 weeks after ordering and waited another week and a half for me in the parking lot near the salon (the front brake discs had already covered with rust).

And so, on November 27, 2014, I finally got behind the wheel of my new swallow for the first time. I will not expand on the attitude of the employees of this salon towards customers, I will simply say that the holiday of receiving a new car was completely ruined for me. And even the installed Garant with carpets (only in the salon, the trough in the trunk and the crankcase were clamped) did not brighten up the overall lousy impression.

After the salon, I immediately went to insure with a friend of the agent, there was absolutely no desire to carry additional money to the salon. Insurance turned out to be expensive due to a small driving experience (1.5 years) and an increase in OSAGO / CASCO tariffs by 20-30%. After insurance - for tire fitting, because. in St. Petersburg it already froze a couple of times, I didn’t want to be on summer tires on an unexplored car in ice (not bad, by the way, Pirelli Cinturato P1, any better than Kama-217). Then to the store for a fire extinguisher / warning triangle / first aid kit, then to the MREO and finally, after 9 hours of time spent on all of the above (from 9 am to 6 pm), I became the proud owner of one of the most expensive domestic cars on the market .

Rubber, by the way, was chosen a month before the purchase and ordered in an online store 2 days before the acceptance of the car, oh, and my kitchen stink during these two days. I chose the studded Nokian Nordman 5 185/55 R 15 (initially I planned to take Nordman 4, but only the fifth had this dimension, and spoiling the exterior of the machine with 14 stampings or ruining a new casting was not part of my plans).

According to reviews, rubber is tenacious, predictable, reliable and durable. Yes, and the price tag is not exorbitant. First impressions of the tires are positive. It holds the road well, especially in a slight frost, snow porridge (slash, in a scientific way) rows great, you feel full grip on the canvas. Noisy on bare pavement, but these are still spikes, and there will be another reason to soundproof the arches if your hands reach it.

3. First impressions

Car rides. The car slows down. And even plays music. And today it’s impossible to say something more specific, my swallow ran too little. I'll try to write it down point by point.

1) Engine and gearbox. At the moment, there are only 500 km on the odometer, but I can say for sure - the wagon turned out to be vigorous. The box (Japanese 4-speed automatic Jatco) and the engine (21126, 98 hp) are really well tuned, accelerates very briskly, shifts gears imperceptibly.

I observe the break-in mode, I don’t twist above 3,000 rpm, I don’t drive faster than 110 km / h. But even in this driving mode, it is felt that Grant is going, and he is going very cheerfully. It is not a problem to accelerate sharply in the city, while the speed does not rise above 3 thousand. I can’t say anything about the lack of power on the highway, it’s still impossible to fully fire up the unit, but the first impressions are positive - you don’t feel superfluous in the stream.

Today, in this node (engine-box), 2 things are annoying: a fairly distinct vibration on the body (on the driver's seat in particular) when stopping at a traffic light in D mode on the box. The vibration disappears either immediately when starting off, or when the box selector is dropped to N. There is a strong feeling that somewhere they forgot to put a rubber damper, or they didn’t screw something up, perhaps a plastic crankcase boot, proudly called "protection".

I'll wait until the end of the break-in, if it doesn't pass, I'll go to the dealer to find out the reason. The second moment - rare kicks of the box when switching in the driving mode 1-2-1 gears in traffic jams. Both shortcomings are not critically annoying, and both were described in reviews and on the forums, the reason always turned out to be different. We'll live a few thousand kilometers, and then to the dealer.

2) Suspension. The suspension works out all the city bumps, so far there are no complaints about it. Those bumps that in 2112 were crawling at 15 km / h, on Grant they are calmly passed at 40-50 km / h. It can be faster, but why should I systematically kill the suspension units and assemblies, there will still be an opportunity to get drunk on the pits. The only question for the suspension is that when high speed bumps pass at speeds above 30 km / h, a knock is heard in the front of the car, maybe the shock absorbers are rebounding (which is unlikely), or maybe the Guarantor’s pin in the glove compartment rattles (which is more likely). But such crossings are so rare that I still do not have time to clearly capture the source of the sound.

3) Light, ergonomics, spaciousness. There are no complaints about lighting fixtures. The low beam shines brightly, the fog lights are damn convenient when maneuvering in narrow courtyards (I haven’t been in the fog yet), the far one has not yet been assessed, the rear fog lamp is very bright and noticeable from afar, a useful thing in inclement weather.

DRL is generally a godsend, now there is no need to constantly turn on the dipped beam, if there is really no need for it, not to get a fine for not turning on the light, and there is less load on the electrical circuit. The green illumination of the instrument panel at night does not bother, the eyes do not get tired, the readability is excellent.

Behind the wheel, the landing is quite comfortable, the seats are tailored with dignity, the presence of easy-to-wash inserts made of young leatherette leather pleases. But for me, with a height of 1.7, there is not enough seat height adjustment and steering wheel reach, I have to put the steering wheel in the lowest position, while the upper part of the dashboard is closed by the steering wheel.

Ergonomics of the driver's seat at the level, krutilki-swivels are easily accessible. I won’t say anything about the standard audio system, everything is strictly individual here. The sound quality is enough for me, but only for listening to the radio in the background. For something more impressive, you will have to change the speakers (perhaps together with the radio), put a rear audio shelf with an amplifier, drag wires to the subwoofer. But all this is only when I have nothing to do.

The trunk is huge, a set of summer tires fit with a whistle, and there is still decent space left. When transporting bulky goods, the rear shelf is easily removed, the back sofa is laid out - and take whatever you like (in this way, a refrigerator was transported to the twelfth, that's what I was surprised when even the tailgate closed).

In the summer I plan to spend the night in a car in nature, my last machine passed this test. What is the point of me taking a tent with me if I have an iron lodging for the night on wheels? I’ll make a reservation right away that it’s most likely not convenient to sleep on the seats - they don’t fold out into a flat bed. But to move the front seats forward, expand the back sofa to the maximum and make yourself a 2-bed in this way - this is already a thing, it remains only to get into the sleeping bag and live until the morning.
