The history of the Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ) begins in September 1958, in the village of Zhodino on the outskirts of the city of Minsk on the basis of a plant for reclamation and road cars, built back in 1947. Its specialization was heavy mining dump trucks with an all-metal body and rear unloading. Production pioneer mining trucks in the USSR there was the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), where in 1950, under the leadership of the chief designer B.L. Shaposhnik, the first domestic 25-ton dump truck MAZ-525 was created, and in 1957 - a 3-axle version of the MAZ-530 (6 × 4) with a carrying capacity of 40 tons. MAZ-525 became the first vehicle that was assembled at the Belarusian Automobile Plant November 6, 1958

The production of the MAZ-530 was also transferred there. These dump trucks had a 12-cylinder V-shaped diesel engine D-12A with a capacity of 300 and 450 hp, planetary wheel reduction gears and tires with landing diameter 32 inches. In September 1961, the first 27-ton BelAZ-540 dump truck with a gross weight of 48 tons was assembled at BelAZ. ), automatic hydromechanical 3 step box gears, wheeled planetary gears, power steering, 25-inch tires.

For the first time in the country, a hydropneumatic suspension and a combined hydraulic system were used on it. Since 1967, a modernized version of BelAZ-540A has been produced with a new V12 diesel engine of the YaMZ-240 model (22.3 liters, 360 hp). dump truck had wheelbase 3550 mm., developed a maximum speed of 55 km / h. This car was the first in the USSR to be awarded an honorary quality mark in those days and corresponded to the world level. Since 1972, the so-called northern and tropical (export) versions have been produced - respectively “540C” and “540T”.

The 540V truck tractor worked as part of a 45-ton dump truck. At the same time, the plant offered a dump truck-coal carrier "7510", in which the geometric capacity of the body was increased from 15 to 19 m3. In 1967, a 2-axle 40-ton BelAZ-548A dump truck with a gross weight of 69 tons and a wheelbase of 4200 mm became the basis of the second, heavier family. and a body with a capacity of 21 m 3. It used a turbocharged YaMZ-240N diesel engine with a power of 500 hp. The car was equipped with giant wheels for that time with tires measuring 21.00-33.

In all other respects, its design repeated the previous “540” family. In 1972, this dump truck began to be assembled in the northern version “548C”, as a coal carrier “7525” with a 27 cubic meter body and truck tractor"548V" for work with dump semi-trailers with a carrying capacity of 65 tons. A diesel-electric road train with 4 traction motor-wheels with a power of 800 kW was also manufactured. Since 1968, using the units of these dump trucks, a 1-axle BelAZ-531 tractor was produced for towing a scraper or earth-carrying cart, the gross weight of which reached 60 tons.

The development of this direction later became low and short-base airfield tractors for towing large airliners with a take-off weight of up to 210 tons. The plant offered three models “6411”, “7421” (1978), “74211” (1988) with diesel engines power 375-525 hp, hydromechanical transmissions and suspensions, front and rear lifting cabins. In the 60s. the implementation of a program for the creation of dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 110 tons or more began on the basis of fundamentally different constructive solutions, which primarily included electric transmission.

Car engine powered generator direct current, which supplied electric power to the traction motors built into the rear wheel hubs, called the “motor-wheel”. The first in December 1968, on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Byelorussian SSR, was built an experimental 75-ton BelAZ-549 dump truck with a wheelbase of 4450 mm, a V8 diesel engine (58.2 liters, 950-1000 hp). ), an electric generator of 500 kW., motor-wheels with a power of 230 kW. each, independent hydropneumatic wheel suspension, separate hydraulic front and rear brakes, tires size 27.00-49. The capacity of the body was 38-40 m 3, the gross weight of the dump truck was 142 tons, maximum speed– 60 km/h.

Produced since 1976, the “549” series included the “549E” models with a V12 engine (43.7 l., 1050 hp) with a turbocharger and an electric generator of 630 kW., “549B” and “549V” with V6 diesel engines ( 900 hp) or V8 (1100 hp), as well as northern version"549C". As part of the experimental work in 1969, a BelAZ-549V truck tractor was built with a gas turbine power unit with a capacity of 1200 hp, towing a 120-ton semi-trailer. Its development in 1976 was the BelAZ-7420 truck tractor for the BelAZ-9590 single-axle semi-trailer with a carrying capacity of 120 tons.

It was equipped with a turbocharged V8 diesel engine (58 hp, 1300 hp) and an 800 kW electric generator, and the semi-trailer also had a wheel motor. With a gross weight of 222 tons, the road train developed a speed of 50 km / h, consuming 600 g of fuel per 100 km. In the 80s. the series “540” was replaced by a 30-ton version of the BelAZ-7522 with more economical engine 360 hp, new transmission with increased torque converter efficiency, an upgraded brake system and an updated radiator lining. The coal carrier variant received the index “7526”.

Since 1981, the 30-ton "75401" and "7540" were also produced for the removal of rock from deep quarries, equipped with a 445-horsepower YaMZ-240PL2 turbocharged diesel engine. The upgraded version “548” with a carrying capacity of 42 tons received the designation BelAZ-7523, and its coal-carrying version - “7527”. The successor of the “549” series was the 80-ton “7509” with rear disc brakes. In 1981, this series was developed in the design of 110 ton dump truck"7519" with a wheelbase of 5300 mm. and a gross weight of 195 tons ..

It was equipped with a 1300 hp V8 diesel engine, a 630 kW generator. and four traction motor-wheels of 360 kW each. each. The “75191” variant received a V6 engine (1100 hp). Front and rear drum brakes had an independent hydraulic drive. This giant, 5 m wide and over 6 m high, had a body with a capacity of 44 m 3, tires sized 33.00-51, developed a maximum speed of 60 km / h and consumed 420 liters. fuel per 100 km. A year later, “7521” appeared with a carrying capacity of 180 tons (gross weight 330 tons) - one of the largest and powerful cars of his time.

It used a turbocharged V12 diesel engine (87.2 liters, 2300 hp) and a maximum torque of 11860 Nm .. The car was equipped with an electric transmission, which included a 1250 kW DC generator. and motor-wheels of 560 kW .. Disc brakes had pneumatic booster. The cabin was made 2-seater, all-metal body with a capacity of 70 m 3 was equipped with heating. Installed tires size 40.00-57. With a wheelbase of 6650 mm. dimensions were 13500x6050x7700 mm..

The dump truck developed a speed of 50 km / h, and average consumption fuel was 600 l. per 100 km. By the end of the 80s. BelAZ has become the world's largest manufacturer of mining dump trucks, producing 5-5.5 thousand of such vehicles annually. This is the only factory in the world where most of these cars are assembled on an assembly line. At the turn of the 80-90s. BelAZ slowed down the pace of its development, continuing to produce slightly modernized versions of the previous basic series.

The program was based on the models “7540”, “7548”, “7549”, “7512” and “75214” with a carrying capacity of 30, 42, 80, 120 and 180 tons, respectively, and their coal-fueled versions with engines ranging from 420 to 2300 hp . The first car of a new generation appeared in 1995. It was a 55-ton BelAZ-7555, for which they offered a choice of YaMZ, MTU (MTU) or Cummins diesel engines with a capacity of 525-730 hp, hydromechanical box gear own production or American "Allison" (Allison), hydropneumatic wheel suspension with 35-inch tires.

In subsequent years, the plant continued to expand the new family heavy vehicles retaining the traditional electric transmission. During this difficult time, an updated range of unified dump trucks with a payload capacity of 120-140 tons appeared. It was based on dump trucks “75121” and “75131” with V8 and V16 diesel engines with a power of 1200-1600 hp. and generators alternating current with converters and DC traction motors. This range was continued by the 200-ton model “75303” with a 2300 hp diesel engine.

The highest achievement of BelAZ and one of the world's largest diesel-electric dump trucks was the 280-ton BelAZ-75501 with a gross weight of 480 tons, built in 1992 jointly with Japanese company"Komatsu" (Komatsu). For the first time in the practice of the plant, an articulated frame, front dual wheels and disc brakes on all wheels, video cameras instead of rear-view mirrors. The turbocharged V12 diesel engine of the Kolomna Plant (165.6 liters, 3150 hp) is moved outside the wheelbase, placed transversely in front and drives an alternator that supplies electricity to all four motor-wheels. Max Speed giant machine- 40 km / h.

In 1995, economic reforms forced BelAZ to drastically change its main line and start assembling Polish 1.2-ton Lublin delivery trucks. To expand its program, BelAZ continues to develop and produce new technology 7542 container carriers, 5840 truck crane chassis, 7920 in-plant conveyors for transporting ladles with molten metal, 7921 and 7924 low loader 140-ton conveyors for metallurgical enterprises, 7648 watering trucks. In the late 90s, BelAZ annually produced 850-1100 dump trucks and chassis.

Let's start with what to create today career equipment such a high carrying capacity without the use of an electric transmission is simply impossible: the loads are too high, the torques transmitted from the engine to the wheels are quite high.

170-ton BelAZ-75211 was the main show-stopper of the grandiose Soviet exhibition AVTOPROM-84

That is why the current record holder has a similar transmission. Especially for automotive giant Siemens has developed original system traction drive(TEP) AC MMT500. This system includes four 1200 kW traction motors, two traction generators, three blowers, a brake resistor ventilation unit and a control cabinet with two ELFA inverters.

The project was implemented in a relatively short time: it took less than two years to develop from the moment of order to commissioning. New car was presented by the BelAZ plant at the end of 2013.

The “smallest” Zhodino dump truck with electric transmission, BelAZ-7555, has a payload capacity of 55 tons.

The BelAZ-75710 dump truck is the first model in a new class with a particularly large load capacity (450 tons). Full mass giant reaches 810 tons. The dump truck is over 20 meters long, about 10 meters wide and over 8 meters high. The turning circle is about 20 meters. As a power plant, two MTU DD 16V4000 diesel engines of 1715 kW each are involved. The maximum speed of the machine can be up to 64 km/h. BelAZ-75710 is in demand in the mining industry and for work in coal fields.

450-ton BelAZ-75710 - the flagship of the world mining flotilla and the world's most load-bearing dump truck

For the first time, BelAZ began to create mining dump trucks with electric transmission in the mid-1960s. So in February 1966, the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry automotive industry USSR reviewed and approved technical projects A 65-ton BelAZ-549 dump truck and a BelAZ-549V-5275 road train with a payload capacity of 110–120 tons created on its basis. Already next year, the production of components necessary for the creation of prototypes began.

From the memoirs of the plant workers: “Since 1965, the department of the chief designer has been purposefully developing documentation for a BelAZ-549 dump truck with an electric transmission with a carrying capacity of 75 tons. The nature of the creation of the dump truck was significantly different from the development of machines with hydromechanical transmission.

The first prototype BelAZ-549 was equipped with an electromechanical transmission, diesel engine M-300 with a capacity of 850 liters. With. Leningrad plant "Zvezda", a traction DC generator GPA-600 with a power of 630 kW and an inflatable block of brake resistors.

The 75-ton BelAZ-549 became the first dump truck from Zhodino to use electric transmission. The engineering marvel of the 1970s

Laboratory and road tests of a prototype in 1969 were carried out at the plant. At the same time, the development of documentation was completed and a prototype of the BelAZ-549V-5275 road train with rear unloading of the 6x4 wheel arrangement with a load capacity of 120 tons was manufactured.

A traction DC generator was installed on the tractor, but more power- 800 kW, traction motors the same power of 360 kW, but four pieces: two for the rear wheels of the tractor and two for the wheels of the semi-trailer.

It should be noted that a 1200-horsepower gas turbine was used as a power plant on BelAZ-549V-5275. Thanks to it, it was possible to significantly reduce the weight, simplify the design, reduce labor intensity Maintenance machines, provide complete combustion fuel and thereby eliminate the need for complex exhaust gas converters. However, the use of gas turbines was constrained by their higher fuel consumption than diesel engines.

The modern 130-ton BelAZ-75131 is one of the most popular models factory

Perhaps for this reason, the next coal-carrying train BelAZ-7420-9590 was a truck tractor based on the 75-ton BelAZ-549 with a semi-trailer with a capacity of 107 m3 and bottom unloading. The semi-trailer, like the tractor, was equipped with electric motor-wheels borrowed from the tractor. At the same time, the Belazovites will once again try to equip their dump truck gas turbine. It will be in 1975. BelAZ-549G with a carrying capacity of 75 tons with a gas turbine engine with a capacity of 1100 liters will become a test subject. With. Further, the plant began to systematically increase the production of both serial and experimental mining dump trucks with an especially large payload capacity, equipped with an electric transmission. So, in 1977, the plant assembled the first two experimental BelAZ-7519 dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 110 tons. This model subsequently gave way to such production cars, like BelAZ-7512 and BelAZ-75145 with a carrying capacity of 120 tons. By the way, the latter in 2001 was noted among the best goods Republic of Belarus, sold in the Russian Federation.

"Intermediate" 110-ton segment BelAZ "blocked" in 1989 with model 7519

The year 1979 was marked by the production of a prototype BelAZ-7521 dump truck with a 12ChN21/21 engine with a load capacity of 180 tons. Four years later, in 1983, the enterprise will start its mass production (BelAZ-75221, capacity of 170 tons). In 1984 at the anniversary exhibition Soviet car industry the dump truck will become a real highlight of the exposition.

1990 was the year of birth of the unique mining dump truck BelAZ-75501 with a carrying capacity of 280 tons. The dump truck had an articulated frame, twin wheels of the front axle, of course, an electric transmission, and with motor-wheels on each “spark”. A diesel engine from the Kolomna Diesel Locomotive Plant and a traction alternator were transversely installed on the dump truck.

130-ton coal version with increased platform

However, the 200-ton milestone is finally overcome production cars BelAZ-7530 (1992). These are dump trucks fourth generation With latest systems electronic control, regulation and diagnostics. In addition, for reasons of competitiveness, foreign-made diesel engines will be used on custom-made machines.

Today, the modernized heavy trucks of the 7530 family "take" 220 tons and are perhaps the most massive dump trucks in the world in their payload segment.

BelAZ-7530D with a carrying capacity of 225 tons. An experiment with a new form of lightweight platform

The plant does not stop there. In 2005, by order of OAO Kuzbassrazrezugol, an experimental mining dump truck BelAZ-75600 with a carrying capacity of 320 tons was manufactured. The machine is equipped with a 3500 hp diesel engine. With. and AC electric transmission on 55/80R63 tires.

The 320-ton BelAZ-75600 appeared in 2005 and at that time was the flagship of the plant

Naturally, if BelAZ had not created all this in the past, a new supergiant would hardly have turned out now.

BelAZ, for which Russia has always been the main sales market, has adapted to the changed ruble exchange rate. In July, the Belarusians presented new models of mining dump trucks, and their next goal is to launch the most big car on the planet with autopilot. RBC+ correspondent Roman Farbotko traveled to Zhodino to see how dump trucks the size of a country cottage are produced.

It turns out that not all modern navigators know about the existence of Zhodino. But in vain: in a small town in the Minsk region with a population of 64 thousand people, BelAZ is located - one of the last whales of the Belarusian economy. However, in order to find the plant, a navigator is not needed: the entire street along the territory of the enterprise is densely crowded on both sides with German foreign cars. “Are you by any chance an industrial tourist?” - suggested the guard at the checkpoint and immediately switched to another suspicious passerby. Doing nothing in work time, like thirty years ago, it is not customary to walk here.

Industrial tourism is Belarusian know-how. With a lack of cultural and historical places in the neighboring state, they offer to visit key enterprises with a tour for a nominal fee. “We have all the dates allocated for excursions scheduled two months in advance,” says Elena Dvornichenko, BelAZ representative. In the museum of the plant, President Alexander Lukashenko squints from the widest wall. The plant admits that the leader of the republic visits here infrequently, but each of his visits is remembered thoroughly. In the center, a gallery of pictures from the presentation of the largest dump truck in the world, which lifts up to 450 tons, is neatly fixed. Lukashenka then personally tested the novelty. On the right is a photo report from a business visit in 2007 by the then head of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez.

The largest BelAZ, which is more like a gas station in size, drives around the plant as if it weighs only a couple of tons. It does not break the asphalt and does not make majestic sounds. The whole secret is in a special pavement: here it is laid in several layers so that after one such passage there are no failures. In case of a crisis, BelAZ also has insurance coverage - the state. “The support of the state was, is and will be,” explains Alexei Grachev, deputy head of the commercial department of BelAZ. “Because the enterprise is state-owned, and our management is purely Belarusian.” According to Grachev, BelAZ operates steadily without government subsidies. Where support is more important in stimulating exports, which allows us to offer consumers a variety of conditions for financing purchases. Without foreign markets BelAZ will not survive: from the first day of its existence, the enterprise has been focused exclusively on exports.

“Historically, we have always been export-oriented, because in Belarus the minerals that are mined open way, not so much,” explains Alexey Grachev, emphasizing that Russia has always been the main sales market for BelAZ. The sharp devaluation of the ruble was felt here as if the Zhodino plant was Russian enterprise. “Now the situation is developing favorably for us, the portfolio of orders is increasing, although there are always certain difficulties,” summarizes the deputy head of the commercial department.

Dump truck constructor

The territory of the plant is comparable in size to the sleeping quarters of Zhodino - in a day you can walk around all the objects, including test site, impossible. Suddenly, a 90-ton truck comes around the corner and heads towards our Ikarus. Against the background of this not the largest dump truck, the bus looks like a toy. Even the workshops where BelAZ trucks are assembled do not seem so big next with trucks. Already produced models are neatly parked on an area of several hectares near the assembly shop. “These dump trucks are waiting for their customers to pay. We do not work in reserve - each car is assembled exclusively by prior order,” explains Elena Dvornichenko.

In the best pre-crisis years, the plant produced five or six dump trucks a day. Now an average of two dump trucks a day are leaving the assembly line of Zhodino, but the enterprise already has the resources to return to pre-crisis indicators. In any case, BelAZ is developing new markets so as not to depend on the situation in the Russian economy. In the near future, the Belarusians hope to organize deliveries to Latin America and Africa. The Belarusians' main trump card is a small number of direct competitors. There are only seven companies on the world market that produce big dump trucks. The largest besides BelAZ - American Caterpillar and Japanese Komatsu and Hitachi. At the same time, for the price, Belarusian models have always been the most affordable and maintainable in the world. However, the plant keeps the prices of products in the strictest secrecy. We are obviously talking about millions of dollars for the most powerful and heavy dump trucks, but the deputy head of the commercial department explains that price policy formed taking into account regional characteristics. “We show prices only to our dealers and only upon written request. We want to see for whom the purchase of equipment is supposed and in which region. The supply of BelAZ vehicles includes many factors from disassembly and loading of equipment at our plant to assembly, adjustment and commissioning directly at the consumer, which cannot but affect the final price,” Alexey Grachev clarifies.

BelAZ, however, is far from completely Belarusian. First of all, we are talking about motors. The fact is that BelAZ is forced to adapt to customers. For example, the Belarusians have recently produced a mining dump truck with a Scania engine, which is currently in operation in Europe, while in Russia the equipment works like with engines. imported production, as well as with motors Yaroslavl plant which are traditionally in demand. Prices for Belarusian dump trucks also depend on the terms of delivery. BelAZ trucks cannot travel long distances on their own - their movement along the roads common use forbidden. Therefore, immediately after assembly and running-in, the models are again disassembled and loaded, most often onto railway platforms. But it all depends on the geography of the client - dump trucks are often sent with the help of cargo planes.

“The dump truck is dismantled at the plant - there is a special workshop for this,” says Alexander Naskovets, head of the layout bureau. - Within one day, you can dismantle any car. Assembly before subsequent shipment is required condition. Assemble "BelAZ" in order to run the car. We must identify all the "childhood diseases" of the dump truck before handing it over to the buyer. Dealers assemble the car on the spot - we provide them with centralized training.”

Where is the button

In July, at the Russian exhibition Innoprom, a presentation of two new Belarusian dump trucks with a payload capacity of 45 and 90 tons took place. The line still has models for 30, 43 and 60 tons, but Belarusians do not talk about a trend towards a decrease in payload capacity. Despite the fact that more compact machines easier to transport, on the farm they are much more expensive than BelAZ trucks at 240, 360 and 450 tons.

“Using multi-ton trucks is always more cost-effective. Those businesses that can switch to such trucks do so in order to increase productivity and at the same time reduce costs. But it is not always possible to switch to a large carrying capacity due to the characteristics of quarries. We have many consumers who operate light-duty equipment - from 30 to 55 tons. We pay great attention to all consumers, regardless of the fleet of dump trucks in operation and their carrying capacity,” explains Alexey Grachev. Soon, self-driving trucks will drive around the plant. A prototype of such a dump truck has already been released in Zhodino: a test truck with a carrying capacity of 130 tons is winding circles between workshops, and soon the project is planned to be sent to mass production. Moreover, the electronics complex can be installed on any model from the BelAZ line - even on the most big dump truck load capacity 450 tons.

A huge dump truck is controlled from the remote control. He is like toy car, obediently executes all commands and at the same time, according to the manufacturer, remains safe. But starting this year, BelAZs don’t even need a remote control: a multi-ton dump truck itself reaches the place of loading, after which it follows to unload. In the future, they plan to combine the drones into a single system that can be controlled by one operator - he will only click on the map, and the dump trucks will do the rest on their own. According to Alexander Naskovets, drones are currently more needed in quarries than on public roads: “This is due to the fact that work in quarries is hard. It is very hazardous to health. The second reason is the shortage of drivers around the world.” But even without an autopilot, a modern dump truck has systems that make it easier to control. For example, a system of circular video review and lidars. The latter help to identify obstacles out of sight. In addition, systems are being developed that can prevent breakdowns, because a simple machine on the farm is a huge loss of money. For example, an hour-long pause in a quarry in the Urals costs about 80 thousand rubles. But farms incur even greater costs in case of tire cuts.

$100,000 is the cost of a wheel for the largest BelAZ (450 tons). And just for one truck, eight of these tires are required at once. This means that only for rubber customers pay an amount comparable to seven crossovers. Tesla Model X or with four three-room apartments in Moscow. On most models of the line, Belarusian tires manufactured by the Bobruisk plant are installed. Such wheels are cheaper, they can be equipped with machines with a carrying capacity of up to 220 tons, but machines with a carrying capacity of 360 and 450 tons are equipped only with imported Bridgestone rubber or Michelin. “For a 450-tonne we would install more big wheels, but the problem is that they are no longer produced - they do not fit on the railway platform, ”complains Naskovets. The company's management is reluctant to draw parallels with Russian automobile plants. Zhodino is well aware that as long as the enterprise remains state-owned, there will be neither mass layoffs, nor a four-day working week, nor corporate holidays. People at the plant are accustomed to carefree pride in their work: the president awarded the title of Hero of Belarus to the previous head of BelAZ, Pavel Mariev. The last hero of the country was a biathlete, Olympic champion Daria Domracheva.

In January 2014, the BelAZ 75710 dump truck raised the performance bar for mining dump trucks even higher by moving a load weighing 503.5 tons at a special site. This is 11% more than the 450 tons provided for in the passport and almost 100 tons more than the previous record holder, the 363-ton Liebherr T 282B. This car continued the tradition of Belarusian automakers to present another dump truck with increased payload every few years.

In 2005, a car with a carrying capacity of 320 tons left the assembly line of the plant, two years later BelAZ introduced a model capable of carrying 360 tons of cargo. And in 2013, Belarusian automakers produced the largest BelAZ in the world - a car capable of carrying over 500 tons of cargo. The documentary video and photo BelAZ 75710 clearly demonstrates the capabilities of this super-heavy vehicle.

Specifications

The release of a new model of a mining dump truck became possible thanks to the cooperation of the Belarusian automaker and world equipment manufacturers. Therefore, the technical characteristics of the BelAZ 75710 are no less impressive than the set record.

Two 16-cylinder diesel engines MTU Detroit Diesel provide the record carrying capacity of the car total power 3430 kV and a volume of 65 liters, driving the MMT500 AC traction electric drive system (TEP), specially designed by Siemens engineers.

In addition to two generators, it included 4 traction motor power of 1200 kW, three blowing fans, installation of ventilation of braking resistors, as well as an ELFA inverter control cabinet.

As you can see in the photo, BelAZ 75710 has eight wheels that can withstand a load of more than 100 tons. Available four-wheel drive on all wheels allows optimal distribution pulling force on both axes. Even with a malfunction of one motor-wheel, towing the car is not required. He is able to get to the service base on his own. In addition, a specially designed design of the motor-wheel gearbox allows the replacement of any defective part without dismantling the tires. This reduces the time and cost of repair and maintenance of equipment.
