Isuzu d max new. Pickup Isuzu D-Max reached Russia

21.09.2019

Large Isuzu trucks have been officially sold in our country for many years and are more or less known to consumers, but things are not going well with pickups. At the beginning of the 2000s, private importers imported first-generation Isuzu D-Max cars to us in small batches, but with the emergence of a full-fledged distributor Sollers-Isuzu, their activity came to naught. The pickup did not appear in the official lineup, although in the pre-crisis 2008, the D-Max was nevertheless brought to the Moscow Motor Show to study demand. And finally, it happened: the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck of the second generation of the 2011 model enters the market.

The cars will be delivered to us with a non-alternative 2.5 turbodiesel (163 hp) and an all-wheel drive transmission with a rigidly connected front axle (Part-Time). Carrying capacity - 975-980 kg, depending on the version, that is, the D-Max will be able to freely enter the center of Moscow without the risk of getting a fine. The names of the configurations are the envy of many manufacturers, but their selection leaves much to be desired.

The basic version of Terra (“land”) for 1 million 765 thousand rubles is a one and a half cabin, a six-speed “mechanics”, black bumpers, six airbags, a stabilization system, air conditioning and power windows. All other versions have a full-fledged two-row cabin, and the simplest one is called Aqua (“water”) and costs 1 million 795 thousand.

The most balanced Air package (“air”) has body-colored bumpers, improved interior trim, heated front seats, CD player, keyless entry system, adjustable steering column, power mirrors, fog lights and alloy wheels. But here's the problem: such pickups come only with a five-speed "automatic" Aisin and cost 2 million 115 thousand rubles. This is 95 thousand more expensive than a similar Mitsubishi L200, although Toyota Hilux with an “automatic” is estimated at least 2.3 million rubles!

The maximum equipment is a leather interior, climate control, additional chrome on the body and 17-inch wheels instead of 16-inch ones. This version with “mechanics” is called Flame (“flame”) and costs 1 million 995 thousand rubles, and with “automatic” - Energy (“energy”) for 2 million 235 thousand rubles. That is, the surcharge for an automatic transmission is as much as 240 thousand rubles!

By the way, the indicated prices do not apply to the Far Eastern Federal District - there the Isuzu D-Max will cost 100 thousand rubles more due to the cost of delivery from the central warehouse.

However, the main trouble with this model in Russia is the dealer network. Only ten showrooms in nine cities of the country will sell pickups, and these are the same car dealerships that sell large trucks - with the appropriate level of service. For example, at one of the dealers near Moscow, where we called, the sales department closed at six in the evening, although "car" car dealerships usually work two to three hours longer. Pickups are bought from us mainly by wealthy private traders, so a full-fledged market struggle with the Mitsubishi L200 (621 cars sold in the first five months of this year) and, moreover, the Toyota Hilux (1800 cars) will not happen.

In the review, the novelty of the Russian market of Isuzu D-Max pickups in 2016-2017 - photos and videos, price and configuration, technical characteristics of Isuzu D-Max, a mid-size Japanese pickup truck-double of the American Chevrolet Colorado. In early September 2016, sales of the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck were launched in Russia. The novelty is offered to domestic motorists at price from 1,765,000 rubles for the Isuzu D-Max Terra version with a one-and-a-half cab to 2,235,000 rubles for the Isuzu D-Max Energy model with a double cab in a very rich configuration with a leather interior, climate control and 5 automatic transmissions. The pickup truck is equipped with a non-alternative 2.5-liter 163 diesel engine and is delivered to Russia from Thailand.

The appearance of the novelty of the Russian market of Isuzu D-Max pickups, of course, is strict and brutal, as befits a car with this type of body. Powerful front end with large headlamps, large false radiator grille and compact bumper cut from the bottom to provide better geometric performance when driving off-road with paved surfaces.

When viewed from the side, we reveal huge wheel arches, visually enlarged by powerful stampings, large doors of the first and second rows, a weighty rear part of the body with a loading platform limited by sides 465 mm high.
At the rear there is a tailgate, vertical position lamps and a strong bumper.

  • The external overall dimensions of the 2016-2017 Isuzu D-Max body do not depend on the type of cab (one and a half Extended) or (double Double) and are: 5295 mm long, 1860 mm wide, 1780-1795 mm high, with 3095 mm wheelbase and 225 mm ground clearance, front and rear wheel track - 1570 mm.
  • The dimensions of the cargo platform of the Isuzu D-Max Terra versions with a one-and-a-half cab (the rear floor doors open against the direction of travel, the cabin is designed for 4 people) are 1795 mm long, 1530 mm high, with a 465 mm height cargo compartment.
  • The load capacity of the pickup truck is 980 kg, and the ability to tow a trailer varies from 750 kg (trailer without brakes) to 3000 kg (trailer equipped with an individual brake system).
  • The dimensions of the cargo platform of the Isuzu D-Max versions with a double cab (two full doors on each side, a five-seat interior) are 1552 mm long on the floor, 1530 mm wide and 465 mm high.
  • The load capacity is 975 kg, and the mass of towed trailers is identical to the one and a half cab version.

Pickup options include 16-inch steel and alloy wheels with 245/70R16 Bridgestone tires, as well as larger 17-inch aluminum-only alloy wheels with 255/65R17 Bridgestone tires.

The interior of the Japanese Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, new for Russia, is decorated quite simply, not even intricately, and will not please the owner with the modern architecture of the front panel and center console, a set of advanced equipment and the latest security systems, as well as electronic assistants. The interior is simple and concise, with a minimum of equipment.

In the basic configurations of versions with a one-and-a-half cab for 1.765 thousand rubles and a double cab costing only 30,000 rubles more, by default there are engine and gearbox crankcase protection, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, an exchange rate stability system, front and side airbags in the first row, side curtain airbags, central locking with remote control, audio preparation with 2 speakers, air conditioning, fabric seat upholstery, power windows, halogen headlights with daytime running lights. The engine is prepared for operation at low temperatures down to -35 Celsius.

More expensive trim levels (Double cab versions only) add Key Less Entry, factory anti-theft system, 2-DIN audio system with 6 speakers (radio, CD player, USB, Aux and I-Pod, Bluetooth), climate control, leather-trimmed seats, cruise control, multifunctional steering wheel with leather trim, electric driver's seat height adjustment, heated front seats, decorative chrome parts on the body, fog lights, projector headlights, side steps.

Specifications Isuzu D-Max 2016-2017 for Russia: a Japanese pickup truck boasts a serious technical stuffing and is, in fact, a real frame SUV (all-wheel drive, no split rear axle, rigid connection of the front axle, transfer case). Under the hood is a four-cylinder 2.5-liter turbodiesel with a common rail system and turbocharging (VGS system, intercooler with EGR system) with a capacity of 163 hp and 400 Nm of torque, a 6-speed manual transmission (AISIN AY6) or a 5-speed automatic transmission (AISIN TB50LS), two-stage transfer case (ISUZU T150), 4x4 all-wheel drive with a hard-wired front axle (Part-Time), power steering.
A diesel engine paired with a 6 manual transmission (5 automatic transmission) provides a pickup truck with a curb weight of 2020 kg (gross weight up to 3000 kg) with a maximum speed of 175-180 mph, fuel consumption in the combined cycle is from 7.3 liters for versions with "mechanics" up to 8 .4 liters of fuel in the presence of an "automatic".
Whether Isuzu D-Max will be able to compete with a whole army of new pickups in the Russian market, time will tell. Motorists will decide on their own what to choose, and, believe me, there is plenty to choose from:, and even a Chinese pickup truck.

Isuzu D-Max 2016-2017 video test

In the digital world of modern autofauna, pickup trucks are like analog dinosaurs. However, this does not reduce the number of their population on many continents. The Ford F-150 alone sells millions of copies a year in America. But this is "they". In Russia, the share of pickups is less than a percent. After all, farmers were rooted out in our country back in the thirties of the last century, and all over the world they remain the main consumers of pickups. Nevertheless, this did not bother Isuzu, which until now was officially represented in Russia only in the cargo segment - all-terrain vehicles and pickups came to us exclusively through the “back porch”, through the channels of gray dealers. And now the D‑Max pickup truck enters the Russian market, with which the Japanese, in all seriousness, want to become leaders in this segment.

old horse

To call the D‑Max a novelty does not turn the tongue: the car of the current generation has been produced for four years. But for a pickup truck, this is not age. The D-Max is a little old fashioned, but that “little” will be around for years to come.

I open the door... Deja vu! Yes, this is the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, but with different devices! Instead of faceted wells - a simple combination with a meager monochrome display. But the information is read well, unlike the same Trailblazer.

The steering wheel is not adjustable for reach, but this did not bother me - I found a comfortable fit. And it doesn’t matter that the landing is high: off-road this is only a plus. And due to the lack of pronounced lateral support at the seat, frequent landings and disembarkations will not tire.

What captivated me was the number of niches and hiding places. Two stowage boxes, a compartment above the center console, plenty of cup holders. And under the rear sofa there was a place for a road tool. So I imagine how I shove a mountain of small things around the cabin, going to the "long distance". But if your relatives and friends are dear to you, do not put them in the back row - it is impossible to endure here for a long time. The pillow is too low, and the feet do not climb under the front seats, so you have to prop up your ears with your knees. Ride together, then you will appreciate the rear row pillow - for an overnight stay, you can completely lower the backs of the front seats.

virgin lands conqueror

What I definitely would not limit myself to is the amount of luggage. D‑Max takes on board almost a ton (970 kg). With the choice of roads, too, you can not bother. The worse they are, the better Isuzu! It is surprisingly soft for a pickup truck with a rear leaf spring suspension and works out transverse waves and boulders falling under the wheels. It is also not necessary to think about the speed of the passage of potholes: I was convinced of the impenetrability of the suspension more than once. The "ironness" of the front suspension on double wishbones is visible to the naked eye. Not to mention the rear axle on springs.

Now the road has ended completely - it's time to connect the front axle. Regardless of the configuration and gearbox, Di-Max's four-wheel drive is not permanent, but honest part-time. Switching from rear-wheel drive to full-wheel drive is controlled by a swivel washer. And the gearbox is a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic.

The first thing I tried the mechanics. The clarity of the electoral mechanism is not ideal, and the lever travel is large - you need to wield it confidently and quickly. Which I gladly did. But even if you are late with the switch, it does not matter: the low-revving diesel 4JK1 with a capacity of 163 hp. will not let you down. Maybe he sins with light vibrations that come to the gearbox lever, but he does not suffer from a lack of traction - the lowering was not useful to me. Modification with mechanics is an option for those who are confident in their abilities. If the work of gas and clutch is not your strongest side, it is better to pay extra for the machine.

A 2.5-liter diesel engine produces 400 Newton meters of thrust. Appetite is moderate: outside the asphalt at a speed of 20-30 km / h eats no more than 11 liters per hundred.

A 2.5-liter diesel engine produces 400 Newton meters of thrust. Appetite is moderate: outside the asphalt at a speed of 20-30 km / h eats no more than 11 liters per hundred.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to fully evaluate the automatic transmission. For all the time of the test drive, we did not leave the asphalt. But off-road with a gun - a paradise: no need to play the pedals and be afraid to stall at the most inopportune moment. There is no hint of overheating, even a slight one. In general, there is no doubt about the adequacy and reliability of the Aisin TB50LS machine, since it has long established itself from the best side on other Japanese technology.

Guaranteed Success

Isuzu D‑Max - a pickup truck, as they say, from a plow. That's what's good. The fact that in any crossover or SUV can be written down as shortcomings is a plus here. Simple finishing materials? But you can wash it with a hose. Is the diesel engine noisy and vibrated? But reliable and simple. Speaking of reliability and maintenance: Isuzu can put a lot of people on the shoulder blades in this. The service interval and warranty for Di-Max is like for trucks. And this is 20 thousand between maintenance, a guarantee for five years or 120 thousand keme! And without restrictions on nodes and assemblies.

Is this enough to beat the L200 and Hilux? Can't figure it out without prices.

The basic D‑Max Terra with a single cab will cost 1,765,000 rubles. For the five-seater version of the Aqua, you will have to pay 30,000 extra. Mitsubishi L200 cheaper! True, the base L200 is like a falcon, and if you equip it with the same options that the D-Max has, the prices will even out. Toyota Hilux, which is the main irritant for Isuzu, is 200 thousand more expensive.

What can you say? One can only advise people from Isuzu to "move" a little in price - and then a chance will dawn to argue with the regulars of the class. However, they themselves will soon understand this.
