There is information that the new model will be created on single platform with Renault Duster, which will reduce the cost of development and production of the model, but most likely this will negatively affect both the price and off-road properties, transferring the car to the crossover class. As it became known in the summer of 2018, a new generation of Niva can be built on the basis of modular CMF-B LS platforms from Renault-Nissan. The CMF-B is an evolutionary continuation of the famous B0 trolley.
At AvtoVAZ, this particular platform was preferred not only because of the use of the B0 architecture in it, familiar from Logan, but also because of the possibility of its easy adaptation for the installation of modern electrical equipment. In particular, the prefix "LS" in the platform designation stands for "simplified specification" (from English - Low Specification) and indicates special training in relation to "budget models".
Soon the CMF-B chassis will become the basis of new generations of Duster, as well as Logan. At the moment, AvtoVAZ is studying the changes necessary to make the platform proposed by the alliance in case preference is given to it.
Moreover, a number of information sources that have gained access to specialized AvtoVAZ documentation report that the completion of the preparation of economic and technical justifications by Renault can be expected in soon.
