In Russia, car sales started just a couple of weeks ago, and there are already first deals. The automaker is talking about a full-fledged restyling, but brand sellers prefer to use a different concept - facelift. Let's see what innovations we are talking about, and how they came to the court. Front of the car. Here we notice a slightly reshaped grille, which now looks more voluminous thanks to the details and surrounding chrome. I think this is not bad, and certainly you will not confuse the interior design of the Q70 with any direct competitor. The location of the main switches and controllers is intuitive, even despite their abundance. The driver does not have to change position to reach them. Including up to the button, the activation of which, according to Infiniti, will create an atmosphere of especially pure forest ozone in the cabin. My colleagues and I “tried” it more than once, but we did not succeed in pampering our lungs with Gelendzhik oxygen. The instrument cluster is, first of all, the proprietary Fine Version panel and a 7-inch color display. It seems that the monitor is not the smallest, but, claiming to be "premium", one could add diagonal inches to it, and at the same time indulge in touchscreen technology. But the clarity of the image has never caused any complaints from our crew. The driver and front passenger seats are thick and massive, covered with leather, heated and 10 directions of adjustment, including 2 directions of lumbar support adjustment. Personally, I had the best seat for the anatomy of the torso, moreover, I don’t dare to consider myself a particularly large person. And I especially liked the speakers of the audio system, mounted in the shoulder area of ​​the seats - very original. The climate system works out its settings effectively, and you understand this even when you change to a soft back sofa, where it is quite comfortable to move around as a VIP. Alas, for such a significant rider, the automaker regretted the outlet - not the option that is worth saving on. The steering wheel, they say in Infiniti, has got a new skin, we will think that this is the case, but for those who are not tempted by the brand's delights, it will be difficult to understand this. But it is optimal in diameter, functional and has easy-to-use manual gear shift paddles 7AKPP. The main thing is that the box controlled by him should please with efficiency and smooth gear shifting. Everything here is not bad, although it is far from ideal. Infiniti claims that the updated Q70 has become noticeably quieter than the pre-styling version, they say, this can be noted even at high speeds. I don’t know, I don’t know: outside the coverage area of ​​​​video recording cameras, we were lucky to ride very quickly, almost “under 200”. And how we got together general opinion, already after "hundreds" with a little noise from the tires in the cabin becomes audible. I willingly believe representatives of Infiniti that they added soundproofing materials, improved the tightness of the compartments and introduced an active noise control system that monitors sound stimuli and generates a “reverse” sound using 4 speakers in the doors. There is also a modification of the Q70L, which adds an extra 15 cm to the rear rider, but it is mainly for the Chinese market, and the Russian fate of the long-base sedan is still vague.

The updated Infiniti Q70 not only changed letter index, but also became stricter and at the same time more elegant, as far as the familiar plastic body allows. New headlights give the sedan a more lively and purposeful look. Chrome-framed black grille, bumper and trim fog lights gave a more masculine appearance. Behind the feeling is twofold. On the one hand, the passage is not the most convenient, the high central tunnel and the lack of pockets in the doors that are useful on the road are embarrassing. On the other hand, passengers have at their disposal monitors in the front headrests and a wide armrest, in which the “climate” control panel is hidden. Where else have you seen this? And most importantly - convenient places for two, but the third here will not be superfluous even on a long trip.

There are few changes in the interior, except that the functionality of some symbols and buttons has changed. It is important that the fit of the panels is almost perfect, the materials are of high quality and pleasant to the touch, in places the brushed metal gleams and cools the fingers. A fly in the ointment is brought in only by coarse ventilation grilles on the A-pillars.

The overloaded keyboard of the center console, familiar to other Infiniti models, raises questions only at first, but in fact it is quite convenient, and the buttons are pleasant to the touch. In addition to the usual functions, the image from the cameras is displayed on the central monitor. all-round view, which are activated on demand or automatically when reverse gear is selected.

In our market, two engines are offered for the Infiniti Q70: “sixes” 2.5 and 3.7. Basic modification with a capacity of 222 hp. is only rear-wheel drive and is moderate in dynamics. Therefore, most choose the 333-horsepower Q70 3.7 with all-wheel drive. His passport acceleration time to 100 km / h is almost three seconds better (6.3 s), and the average fuel consumption is only one liter more (10.9 l / 100 km versus 9.9 l / 100 km).

Here under the hood is the VQ37VHR series engine, which is based on the reliable Nissan VQ35 engine. What shakes the chassis, at the heart of the Q70 is the well-deserved Nissan FM (Front Midship) platform. The name implies a classic layout with a rear-mounted engine above the front axle. This solution contributes to optimal weight distribution and favorably affects the dynamics and handling. On the other hand, the FM platform is not optimal in terms of layout, especially in combination with all-wheel drive, which is solved here on the basis of a multi-plate clutch in the front wheel drive. Therefore, decent wheelbase(2900 mm) is not used very rationally, because of which the interior space suffers, and the shape of the trunk cannot be called optimal because of the speakers wheel arches, although a volume of 500 liters is enough in most cases.

The front double wishbone suspension is made entirely of aluminum alloys, with the exception, of course, of the stabilizer and other parts, which are made only of steel. Shock absorbers for the Sport version are double-circuit. There is less aluminum in the rear multi-link: a steel subframe.

I don’t really like tightly soundproof cars, I want to hear at least a little of the world around me, so the Q70’s imperfect acoustic comfort compared to expensive “Germans” completely suits me. Yes, and the smoothness of the ride on regular tires dimensions 245/50 R18 is not bad. Another thing is that the engineers, in my opinion, did not find the balance of the chassis: the car can be harsh, but this is not supported by the sportiness of the responses.

On smooth pavement, the Q70 behaves more calmly than sportily. Reactions to steering are not sharp, a slight roll is felt before the car changes direction. And this despite the fact that the Infiniti has a hydraulic booster, unlike the all-electric Q50, but in addition to the heaviness on the steering wheel, there is not enough feedback transparency. The reactive force on the steering wheel is quite noticeable, but not very informative, and the weak feedback on the soft brake pedal does not allow you to accurately dose the force so as not to overbrake.

But electronic assistants work confidently in a changing stream, adaptive cruise control allows you to almost forget about the pedals. And in the event of going out of band, the Q70 is insured by braking the wheels, and deceleration in such cases is well felt.

But the 3.7 six-cylinder engine is beautiful. Excellent reception, smooth traction, excellent dynamics, and the sound is a real pleasure for a gourmet! At such moments, you regret that there are only two pedals under your feet, and there is an automatic machine between the seats. After all, the transmission is not always ready to support such motor enthusiasm: if acceleration with a smooth gear change goes with a bang, then sharp pedaling confuses the transmission. Although it is not as refined as its European rivals, it serves faithfully for many years even in the most severe operating conditions. At least that was my friend's M35X, and that's how the Q70 remains, judging by the Consumer Reports ranking of the most reliable cars, where the Q70 was second only to the hybrid "Japanese" Toyota Prius and Lexus CT 200h. In addition, the Infiniti Q70 remains a prestigious business sedan, woven from modern high-tech systems and imbued with classic solutions.

Pedigree

The history of Infiniti began in 1989, at the same time the M30 coupe was released (factory index - F31). In fact, it was an improved Nissan Leopard, which has been produced since 1986. This is the first of two coupes in the entire Infiniti lineup, along with the 2003 G35. Under the hood there was only a V6 3.0 l (162 hp), which was aggregated with a four-day “automatic”. The suspension (McPherson front and multi-link rear) featured original Nissan Sonar Suspension II adaptive struts, with actuators from ultrasonic sensors that assessed the quality of the road and adjusted to it. In 1991, a convertible appeared, but a year later, the history of the Japanese "emki" was cut short for ten years.

The second generation of the Infiniti mid-size sedan was released only in 2003 and was called the M45 (index Y34). Engineers installed Bluetooth, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, separate climate control, a considerable trunk and good music from Bose in the cabin. But, I would like more correct electronics. The point is that warnings about speed cameras are completely uncontrollable. They pick when they need and when they don't. Still, did not like the front parking sensors. It gives signals almost around the clock. You just have to turn it off, as it warns of obstacles that are not there.

Now let's move on to the advantages of the model. When she travels, she's amazing. Everything is perfect here: torque, power, interior design and even cornering. Of course, the car has a slightly higher fuel consumption, but if you buy such a car, then in any case you will be ready for this.

The updated Q70 sedan (that is, the former M35 / 45) is a fresh addition to the lineup. Representatives of the brand do not hide the fact that the share of Q70 in total sales does not exceed 4%, however, every car sold is important here. It is also the largest and most expensive Infiniti sedan in the world. Russian market- it turns out, "the flagship involuntarily." So it was interesting to test it. I admit right away: I didn’t have a chance to ride on the pre-styling version, but it’s for the best, because I can evaluate the car right away, from scratch.

Outwardly - hmmm ... Debatable. Original, I do not argue, but obviously not to my taste. Too much kitsch, I think. In the segment of business sedans, this is perceived by many with hostility, here give the classic proportions, observe the canons, otherwise they will peck. I won't peck, but I can't praise either. Updates include redesigned lighting equipment front and rear, new bumpers, different wheels - and the latter, especially in the Sport version, are really good. But this is 20 inches, they will decorate the Zaporozhets. But on 18 inches, the Q70 looks different. No worse, but the proportions change slightly.

What is inside?

The interior is Infiniti's forte. Or rather, seats. I just adore them, because they are arranged for the average Americans, who, as you know, love to eat. I myself am - 2 meters and one and a half centners. And driving the Q70, in general, is quite comfortable for me. I would probably like to lower the seat a little lower, but this is the only nitpick about the landing. The chair itself is great: it distributes the load as it should, so that my sore lower back does not remind of itself, which, unfortunately, has not happened as rarely as we would like in the last six months.

The architecture is typical for "dates" - and this is already a sign high class. The navigation screen is bright and clear, the controls located in the center of the console, with a branded wheel, are recognizable. I won’t say that it’s super convenient, but tolerable. True, against the background of all the same Germans, there are too many buttons and at first it is easy to get confused.

Pleased with "saucers" ... no, real "plates" of devices. They are huge and slightly turned towards each other - a very interesting effect is obtained. And here is the monochrome display on-board computer hopelessly outdated, in the business class they don’t “wear” like that anymore.

A lot of words were said at the presentation about the Bose sound system, which, in addition to direct functions, can also start sound in antiphase in order to improve sound insulation. Maybe after the stereo was mentioned separately, my expectations turned out to be somewhat overstated, or maybe a bear stepped on my ear, but ... I was not impressed. A colleague from a well-known paper edition was not too lazy and put on a CD with Rachmaninov's second concerto - and was delighted with the detail. I prefer more modern performers, and for them this Bose clearly lacks dynamism, volume, depth. And even the Q70 chip - small speakers built right into the back of the chair, at the headrest, do not change the picture.


But the back is awesome. I was given the opportunity to ride as a passenger from the airport to the first photo point - it was very comfortable. Both the shape of the seat and the headroom in all directions are excellent. So, as a car for a passenger, this Infiniti can and should be recommended. But for the driver, everything is not so clear ...



How does he ride?

On the test under Peter I got sport version with 3.7-liter petrol V6, 7-speed automatic transmission gears and all-wheel drive. In other words, the equipment is optimal for Russia - all-wheel drive is available only with such an engine, a more modest version with a 2.5 engine (222 hp) and a gigantic 5.6-liter V8 (408 hp) can only be rear-wheel drive .

The dynamics are enough for the eyes - after all, 333 forces and 363 Nm of torque. But one thing is acceleration in a straight line, and another thing is winding paths. Firstly, the car is simply too big for narrow serpentines, and secondly ... It just goes. Without a spark. He shook the steering wheel - the car changed direction. As a plus, you can note the absolute control over the car - everything is predictable, the Q70 does not kick, does not scour, does not seek to rearrange the sirloin even in a tense turn.
