Repair

The Skyline car, however, like any other car, needs timely repair work. Some of them can even be done with your own hands, the manufacturer did not offend the owners in this regard.

Replacing the front fender is very easy. The rear wing can present difficulties (more on this below).

So, in order to replace the wing, it will be necessary to prepare the lining of the part, its clamps to the car frame or bumper. You will also need to take fasteners called "bugs". In the service station, the replacement of the front wing is usually estimated at 800-1500 rubles.

On the contrary, the repair of the Skyline rear wing is no longer so simple and is estimated by repairmen at 2500-3000 rubles. Difficulties are primarily related to the type of body. On a coupe, respectively, it is more difficult to make repairs. Almost always, when repairing a rear wing, it is necessary to cut, drill or weld a part.

In any case, if the replacement is done by hand, you will first need to remove the bumper and empty the cargo compartment.

  • The rubber cuff is removed;
  • Then - upholstery of the floor and cargo compartment;
  • The electrical wiring is disconnected.

Wing replacement is carried out in the event that it is no longer possible to restore the body element, or the latches are broken or the part itself is deformed after an accident.

The legendary car reappeared in September 1998 with revised chassis and other updates. The new generation has become a little shorter than the previous one, and the front axle has become closer to the front. The valve covers were painted shiny red instead of the black that had been applied to them in past generations. The turbochargers were also improved. A new, more robust 6-speed GETRAG gearbox has been designed especially for this vehicle. Intercooler temperature sensors appeared on V-spec models. The R34 GT-R featured a 5.8" LCD display that allowed viewing of parameters such as turbo pressure, oil and coolant temperatures, and for the V-spec, longitudinal and lateral acceleration graphs and circuit racing lap times.

Like the R33 generation, the new R34 GT-R V-spec models were equipped with the ATTESA E-TS Pro system, but the standard GT-Rs were not equipped with "Pro" systems. Versions of the V-spec received a more stable suspension and a lowered seating position. V-spec models also included a hood-mounted plastic diffuser (cooling the underside of the engine) and a carbon fiber diffuser designed to channel smooth airflow under the car.

Another version of the R34 GT-R was referred to as the M-spec. The model was similar to the V-spec, but had a softer suspension and leather interior.

During the production of the fifth generation GT-R, Nissan began to develop a version called the N1, which had also previously been produced in the R32 and R33 models, and was technically similar to its predecessors. The N1 did not have: air conditioning, rear wiper and stereo systems. In total, only 45 cars were produced, 12 of which were used by the Nismo (Nissan Motorsport) division to participate in the Super Taikyu racing championships. Most of the remaining cars were sold to racing teams and tuning companies.

In August 1999, Nissan introduced a new model called the V-spec II. The car received a fairly stiff suspension (much stiffer than the original V-spec). The new version features a carbon-fiber hood that is lighter than the aluminum hood previously fitted to all GT-Rs. Another difference between the V-spec II and the original is the darker color of the center console. Also, the seats were made from black fabric, rather than the gray fabric previously used on other versions of the R34 GT-R.

In February 2002, Nissan released the latest model in the R34 GT-R series, called the Nür. It was sold in 2 versions: Skyline GT-R V-spec II Nür and Skyline GT-R M-spec Nür. The name Nür was given in honor of the famous Nürburgring race track in Germany. Both versions were equipped with an upgraded RB26DETT engine based on the N1 engine, which allowed the car to reach speeds of about 300 km/h.
