For the Czechs, Rapid has become a real gift - thanks to its appearance, the annual production of Skoda has exceeded the one million mark and continues to grow. Maybe that's why the modernization that Rapid underwent, despite the five-year age of the model, turned out to be rather superficial? I'm not being ironic about this at all. It's even good that the design has barely been updated. Remembering, you begin to appreciate moderation and conservatism. Yes, there are changes, but they are so delicate that an unprepared person is unlikely to notice them.
So, in the front bumper there are new foglights. And the new ones are not only in form, but also in content - they are LED. Diode steel and running lights in the headlights. But in terms of equipment, progress is still noticeable. Inexperienced drivers appreciate the appearance of the front parking sensors. Everyone, without exception, will like the flagship multimedia system, the screen size of which has increased to 8 inches. In addition, it now supports the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols - in the age of smartphones, you can’t do without it. In Europe the owners updated Rapids will receive an internet access point, but our machines will not receive it. We will not have adaptive cruise control and systems automatic braking in front of the obstacle.
Choice problems test machine it didn’t stand before me - I asked for the keys to a 1.4-liter 125-horsepower turbo version. The rest of the modifications did not interest me - they are not represented with us. What can I say - such a Rapid rides smartly, justifying its name (translated from English - fast, high-speed). But the chassis left a double impression. On the highway, Rapid rushes collected, like a sniper bullet. And in the corners it doesn’t stew - it willingly rises to an arc and quickly reacts to pressing the accelerator pedal. Too bad the suspension is too stiff. Even on excellent German pavement, Skoda finds bumps, thereby perplexing the crew. more comfortable on the go.

In general, it is good that this engine is not offered in Russia. For our market, the line of engines has remained the same: the already mentioned 1.4 TSI and the good old 1.6-liter aspirated in two boost options (90 and 110 hp). It is this engine that the vast majority of buyers choose from us, and for good reason. The 1.6 motor is in all respects more pleasant than its turbo counterparts: high-torque, balanced. Design
Being one of the most popular models in the Russian Federation, Rapid has no right to be at least somewhat repulsive - apparently, this is exactly what Skoda decided and "spared" budget liftback, leaving him, unlike Octavia, an ordinary-looking rectangular head optics. The Czech bestseller is now available with optional bi-xenon headlights and LED running lights, framing the branded grille. "Fog lights" new form fit quite harmoniously into the lower part of the modernized front bumper. Design
The novelty is based on the familiar platform A05 + (PQ25) from Volkswagen Group- Audi A1, Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen Polo were once built on its basis.
