Body

The body has a high resistance to corrosion. The chrome finish of the grille and moldings peels off.

The interior is well preserved and does not creak.

The plastic of the headlights quickly becomes cloudy.

Electrician

The electrics of the rear marktronics and the lighting of the number on the fifth door of the station wagon fail.

After 5-6 years of operation they refuseheating or electric seat adjustment, electric drives fail parking brake, door and trunk locks, the diodes in the rear lights burn out.

By 100 t. km, the sensor of the rotary module failsadaptive headlights and they turn into normal ones.

Refuse servo dampers for air ducts located in the front panel ($ 130 each). Climate control fan motors howl to 70-80 thousand km.

On cars manufactured in 2005-2006, the air conditioning compressor fails ($ 650).

Engine

The engine is 1.8 TFSI after 100 t. km, the noise of an extended timing chain may appear ($ 260). If you start a malfunction, then the circuit may jump and you will need to replace the cylinder head ($ 2000 for an empty one and $ 4000 for a head with valves).

With a run of about 90 thousand km, the water pump of the cooling system ($ 200), which is assembled with a thermostat and a temperature sensor, may leak.

Then they wear outdamper bushings in the intake manifold, which are assembled with the manifold ($ 550), and refuse solenoid valve turbocharger control.

If low-quality oil is used, the valve will fail by 100-120 tons. Kmcrankcase ventilation systems, which will cause the crankshaft oil seal to leak. In addition, the pressure reducing valve will jam oil pump, causing the lamp to light up low pressure oil on the instrument panel.

The engine uses oil for high revs up to 1.5 l / 1000 km.

On Volkswagen Passat B 6 with 2.0 TFSI after 100-150 t. km, oil consumption may increase to 0.7-1 l / 1000 km. Treated by replacementoil separator in the crankcase ventilation system ($180) or valve stem seals($450). wear out less often piston rings($100). But these actions do not guarantee a reduction in consumption.

Ignition coils fail ($45 each), injection system nozzles ($150 each).

After 45 tons, you need to monitor the condition of the timing belt. Replacing the cylinder head in the event of a break will cost $ 2100-4200.

For Volkswagen Passat B 6 , produced in 2005-2008, after 150 tons km, the drive cam is ground intake camshaft high-pressure fuel pump drive rod, which reduces the efficiency of the high-pressure fuel pump and it is necessary to change the shaft ($ 650).

Engines 1.6 FSI and 2.0 FSI with direct injection fuels are characterized bad start winter, hard and noisy work.

Starting can be facilitated by using a clean low-pressure fuel pump screen in the tank. The manufacturer changes the filter together with the pump ($300), but you can change the filter separately ($100). In addition, it is worth removing and cleaning the fuel injectors after 30-50 thousand km ($ 300).

On engines The FSI ignition system does not tolerate short trips in winter, long engine idling and tight driving. Under such conditions, spark plugs ($ 30) serve 10-12 tons. Km. Following the candles, the ignition coil will fail.

At 2.0 FSI, idle speed jumps up to 2000 rpm and engine stop are due to failures of the EGR valve ($ 180).

As a result, the most reliable engine is 1.6 (102 hp) with multiport fuel injection, but it is rare and its dynamics is insufficient for a large car.

Diesel engines are quite reliable. Especially the CBA and CBB series, which have been installed since 2008. High-pressure fuel pumps ($ 1800) can refuse low-quality fuel on them. By 100 tons, the nozzle seals will wear out ($ 20).

Diesels 1.9 and 2.0 with 8 valves have expensive unit injectors ($ 900 apiece).

Diesel enginesthe BMA, BKP, BMR series were equipped with piezoelectric pump injectors ($800 apiece), which have weak wiring, due to which the injector connector is melted and the engine starts to triple, and which serve about 50 tons. Km.

For diesel engines 2.0, on cars until 2008) wears out by 180-200 tons kmhex shaft for oil pump drive. The low oil pressure light will come on and the engine may be destroyed.

By 150 t. Km, a dull knock may occur in the area of \u200b\u200bthe rear wall of the engine, indicating wear on the dual-mass flywheel ($ 550). If you start a malfunction, then the flywheel, when destroyed by debris, will damage the starter ($500), clutch ($400), box crankcase ($650-800).

Transmission

System all-wheel drive 4Motion with Haldex clutch without problems serves from 250 thousand km, provided that the oil is changed every 60 thousand km.

Internal CV joints ($ 90) are without lubrication due to hard anthers and loose clamps.

Manual transmissions are reliable. By 70-80 t. Km, oil seals may leak. On vehicles manufactured before 2008, the shaft bearings are very sensitive to the oil level.

automatic transmission6 Tiptronic TF-60SN (or 09 according to the classification V AG), developed jointly with Aisin, is prone to overheating, which is why the bearings and the hydraulic control unit fail.

By 60-80 t. Km, shocks may appear when switching due to a failure in the valve body. The replacement will cost $1400 and the repair $500.

On DSG6 Borg Warner DQ250 with clutches operating in oil, the hydraulic control unit - mechatronic fails. Shocks in first gears will appear with a run of 20 tons. Km and a new mechatronic will cost $ 2300.

DSG6 was installed on diesel 2.0, gasoline VR 6 3.2, TFSI 1.4 and 1.8.

Oil in DSG6 changes every 60 thousand km and is very expensive ($ 220 for 7 liters).

On DSG7 DQ200 with dry clutches Luk the mechatronics also fails, which will cost $ 2800 already. In addition, friction clutches fail. Kicks while driving are a mass phenomenon. Under the guarantee, the control units were reflashed, the clutches ($ 1500) and the entire boxes ($ 9500) were changed, but after 40-50 tons everything was repeated again.

ModernizedDSG7 with an improved control unit and reinforced clutches appeared at the end of 2010. But in the summer of 2012, the manufacturer extended the warranty for the DSG7 to 5 years or 150,000 km.

Chassis

Cars were delivered to Russia with a package for bad roads, which includes increased ground clearance, stiffer springs and shock absorbers.

There is a backlash between the front aluminum subframe and the steel spars due to electrochemical corrosion. The backlash is eliminated by tightening the bolts.

In the front suspension, silent blocks of levers run 20-30 tons. Km on cars manufactured before 2008. Later they were strengthened and the resource increased to 100 tons. Km.

By 100 thousand km, the stabilizer struts ($30 each), steering tips, front shock absorbers ($180 each) and their upper supports wear out.

By 130-150 tons, silent blocks wear out rear control arms. Their replacement can be complicated by rotten eccentric bolts.

By 100-120 thousand km, the front suspension with aluminum levers will require a bulkhead.

The manufacturer changes the stabilizer bushings complete with a stabilizer ($ 200), but you can pick up a non-original one.

Control mechanisms

crashes electronic steering column lock ELV and locks the steering wheel. Eliminated by replacing the block for $550.

By 100-120 t. Km, the steering mechanism will wear out ZF or APA ($1100-1600).

Other

There are cars from the USA. They have softer suspension, other bumpers, instrument reading, optics and frequency of the radio.

On American cars engines were installed2.0 TFSI and 3.6 VR6, and the box is only DSG6.

As a result, the best choice would be a diesel car with manual transmission released after 2008.

Volkswagen Passat in the mind of a Russian person has established itself as one of the pillars of the business class.

And there were reasons for that: the machines of the B3-B4 series made a revolution in their time. Simple, reliable, superbly comfortable and durable, they still run across the expanses of Russia. But subsequent generations have changed. First of all, they became more difficult, and the B5 generation was generally made on the Audi platform with a longitudinal arrangement of the power unit and multi-link suspensions in the front and in the back.

Technical features

But the topic of this article is the next generation, the sixth. It seems much closer to the classic B3/B4 models. There is the same transverse motor and a “multi-link” - only at the back, and exactly the same as on the VW Golf V, because these cars are made on the same platform, and in general they are structurally similar in many respects. But it's not worth comparing them in terms of looks and feel.

The Passat is up a notch and you can feel it in everything: the size of the cabin, the quality of the trim, the number of options, basic equipment and in the choice of options for engines and gearboxes. And of course, Passat B6 has become one of the most popular cars in its class, despite the presence of traditional strong competitors in the face, Ford Mondeo And premium brands. And the secret of success seems to be known. At a price only slightly higher than that of classmates, in terms of driving performance, ergonomics, comfort and equipment level, it was closer to premium-class cars, which practical Germans really appreciated. They also offered buyers great choice diesel engines, and with a very lively character, and engines running on bioethanol, E85 fuel and compressed natural gas. Everything was perfect in this car: both super progressive automatic transmissions, equally modern engines, and the reviews of journalists and owners about excellent comfort and handling were also pure truth. The overall feeling of the quality of the car was high, and second-hand examples are often beckoning to buy them. But the devil is in the details, and progress comes at a high price, in this case, reliability of power units and automatic transmission.

Breakdowns and problems in operation

Engines

There were a lot of engines for the Passat, they are all familiar from the description, but in this case the priorities are slightly different. After all, the car is heavier by more than 150-200 kg. The especially reliable 1.6 engine with 102 hp known from Golf. expectedly turned out to be relatively little in demand. The dynamics of a heavy car with him is already frankly not even up to comfortable, only phenomenal simplicity and low cost of maintenance help him out. The main motors for the model were clearly to be completely different units, more powerful. The popularity of the model was not greatly overshadowed even by the earlier identification of problems with the most modern motors. At first glance, the optimal naturally aspirated 2.0 FSI refused to start even when light frost, and also pleased high flow oils and unreliable direct injection fuel equipment. 1.4 TSI, powerful and economical, as it turned out, too complicated and problematic, with an unreliable chain, fuel equipment and turbocharging system. A weak 1.6 FSI engine is almost never found in our country - and rightly so. The dynamics are no better than those of the eight-valve 1.6 with distributed injection, but problems full set. There are capricious fuel equipment and a chain ... In general, all the troubles are 1.4 TSI, but the atmospheric 1.6 FSI also “does not pull”. The more powerful 1.8TSI and 2.0TSI turned out to be very reliable against their background and practically “saved” their reputation, in subsequent years Russian market they have gained the most popularity. Rare "immediate" V-shaped "sixes" 3.2 FSI and 3.6 FSI also cannot please with their trouble-free. The troubles are the same as with a two-liter unit, and 3.6 can also please with a whole set of mechanical problems. It is also worth considering that cars with these motors are taken with an initial “aim” for fast driving with appropriate wear.

The real joy for the owners are diesel engines, especially the older 1.9 TDI with conventional injection pump and medium power 2.0 with unit injectors and common-rail with 140 hp. With such engines, the car does not please with racing dynamics, but it is not slow-moving either, reliability is noticeably higher than that of gasoline engines, and fuel consumption is ridiculous. Turbodiesel 1.6 is almost never found in our country, but it didn’t deserve much negative, but the most powerful 170-horsepower diesel of the BMR series turned out to be much more capricious than the younger versions, problems are much more common on it fuel equipment and turbines. It is here with an adjustable nozzle apparatus, and any unnoticed error rather leads to the failure of the piston group, yet the degree of forcing is very decent. The same power engine with common rail fuel injection is somewhat more reliable due to less capricious fuel equipment, but the turbine is the same here.

Transmission

A very unpleasant surprise was DSG boxes. The Passat B6 was released in 2005 and became one of the first cars to be massively used with dry clutches, and it was installed on the most “running” 1.4 and 1.8 TSI engines. And the result was not slow in coming. The owners of the first Tradewinds went through all the circles of hell with the replacement of the firmware of the control units, the replacement of the clutches and the complete boxes themselves. The first revisions of the DSG turned out to be remarkably "raw", despite the bravura reviews in the press about excellent dynamics and smoothness. Boxes annoyed with jerks in traffic jams and a quick failure of clutches or other components. In general, it didn't work. The six-speed DSG with an oil bath clutch had already been debugged by that time and did not cause so many problems, but problems with the mechatronics unit and software failures provided it notoriety. Such "robots" were installed on cars with engines from 2 liters, including all diesel ones. In Europe, the number of cars with automatic transmissions is traditionally not too large, but when the situation with DSG began to affect sales in Russia, conclusions were drawn quickly - a conventional hydromechanical six-speed automatic was offered in conjunction with the 1.8 engine. Cars from 2006 to 2008 were equipped with a conventional hydromechanical automatic transmission Aisin TF-60SN, however, was not absolutely problem-free either. The version, devoid of an additional radiator, also managed to please the owners with overheating and failure of the valve body, however, it still remained more reliable than both types of preselectors. A similar automatic transmission on cars from the USA has full radiator box and does not suffer from overheating. Yes, and it is used there with 2.0FSI, 2.0TSI and 3.2 FSI engines of all years of manufacture. On all-wheel drive European cars release from 2008 to 2010, you can also find this box in the version with the "correct" cooling.

Not confused yet? If you buy a VW, you'll get used to it, in different years different configurations and different motors, often even by the VIN number it is impossible to understand what was installed on the car. Moreover, often the owner does not know what kind of box he has until it breaks. Fortunately, after many years, almost all DSG boxes received software updates, clutch units and mechatronics, and even changed base oil on the "mineral water" last year, synthetics were accused of destroying the wiring in mechatronics. And as a result, even the seven-speed DSG has become relatively budget-friendly to maintain, but still, if possible, avoid the “seven-steps”. By the way, on the Passat B7, which is essentially a restyling product of the B6 generation, automatic transmissions are again only DSG. Machine selection with manual transmission allows you to look to the future with optimism, but you just need to remember that all chain motors really don’t like setting “in gear” instead of a parking brake - here you can damage the engine. And the price of a dual-mass flywheel can be unpleasant to hit - the cost original part can exceed half a thousand dollars, and repairs will cost four times cheaper.

Chassis

The suspension of the car does not cause much trouble, except that the abundance of configuration options and the unsuccessful selection of elements during repairs can completely destroy the excellent handling of the car. As always, bushings, stabilizer struts most often fail roll stability and lower wishbones. But it's a sin to complain! Otherwise, without serious intervention, the suspension can cover all 100-150 thousand kilometers, and after a slight shake-up and replacement of shock absorbers, almost the same amount will pass.

Electrician

Salon electronics can surprise. For example, independently open windows and a sunroof in the rain or in winter for “ventilation”, turn on seat heating to full in hot summer or please other, more petty problems. Unfortunately, many of them are not solved by restarting the engine, and even numerous software updates for control units leave “floating glitches”, and one can only guess how it bothered the first owners. Sometimes the electric power steering fails - it is the same here as on the Golf, but on a heavier car, its motor may not be able to withstand it, especially if the owner likes to turn the steering wheel while standing still. Against the backdrop of global problems with the reliability of the main units, the warning about seizing motors of the climate control system, a not very successful air conditioning compressor and corroding radiators looks like sheer babble, but still, check these nodes as well. The machine is really complex, all its components are tightly packed and lightweight, and the cost of original components is very high. But pleasing abundance non-original spare parts, and both from “related” Seat and Skoda models, both from European vendors and various Chinese ones.

Body and interior

The quality of assembly and interior materials turned out to be, perhaps, higher than that of other similar years of production. But chrome has a habit of peeling off literally in the second or third year of a car’s life, and paintwork and the letters ZZZ in the wine number (these letters do not indicate galvanization, contrary to popular belief) do not save you from unpleasant corrosion on the thresholds and arches. Here, paradoxically, an example should be taken from. Yes, in the "zero" everything is not the same as it was in the "nineties". Behind high performance you have to pay a lot, reliability and money. Example VW Passat B6 once again reminds of this. In an effort to provide excellent performance in terms of dynamics and fuel efficiency, the manufacturer endowed the car with very fragile power units and transmissions. This does not mean that the car is bad, but one must be prepared for breakdowns and provide appropriate maintenance and diagnostics. As a reward, the Passat will offer high comfort, great salon and high workmanship of all related elements, from suspensions to most of the electronics, and after all, “little things” can get no worse than a small box or motor resource. If we are talking about choosing a specific configuration, then among the most trouble-free gasoline cars will be a car with a “boring” 1.6 MPI engine and manual transmission. But if you want to have business-class dynamics, you will have to look for either late, from 2008 to 2010, 1.8TSI and 2.0TSI engines with a manual gearbox, or a car with a 1.8 engine and a classic 2006-2008 automatic machine with an additional radiator installed boxes. You can also look for an “American”, but despite the successful automatic transmission in general, cars from across the ocean are alive

Hi all. I found on the Internet a list of non-obvious features of the trade wind in the b6 body.

After reading this article I realized that it is not so complete, does not quite fit exactly my configuration, and some functions are clearly "sucked from the finger." Moreover, some points are duplicated in different wordings, and there are also points about frank nonsense, such as the presence of a power steering on the trade wind. And the author has all the points very "Ramazan". That is, what can be fit in one paragraph - smeared into 2-3.

As I understand it, the person simply took clippings from the service book and other sources and gradually compiled a list.

Well, enough criticism, the person also tried, though very inaccurately ...

Therefore, it was decided to take the service book that I had already read from cover to cover and write the article again, in detail, with explanations.

And there, what I can’t find in the book, I’ll add points from the article found on drive2.

A small remark: Do you need photos for some items? If you need, write the numbers of the points and I will take a picture and post it.

We open quick guide Passat User Manual:

1. When fastened belts security and closed driver's door the parking brake is released automatically when you start driving.

2. The "Auto Hold" key turns on the "automatic braking of the vehicle" function. With the seat belts fastened and the driver's door closed, when the function is activated, the car will automatically "get up / off" from the handbrake. For example, in a traffic jam, we drove some distance, stopped and you can take your foot off the brake - the car automatically gets on the handbrake. At the beginning of the movement - the handbrake will also automatically be removed. Note to women: "Auto Hold" is especially useful when driving in a traffic jam on a "steep" hill. No need to make unnecessary movements in order to start without rolling back, we stand on the handbrake and, not paying attention to it, we begin to move forward!

3. The key is made in the form of "Smart Key". There are three buttons: open doors, close doors, open trunk. If you press the door open button once - only the driver's door is unlocked, if you press it twice - all doors are unlocked. Moreover, it is not necessary to first press once to open the water door. You can immediately, approaching the car, press twice to open all the doors. For me personally, this was not an obvious fact. First I pressed once, then two more.

To unlock the trunk, press and hold the trunk release button (middle).

If you press and hold the door open button on the key fob, everything will start to fall side windows as long as the button is pressed. And vice versa, holding the close button - the windows will begin to close.

In this way, you can achieve the desired position of the windows. For example, being close to the car, on a hot day, you can open the windows for ventilation. Well, or vice versa - after getting out of the car, close one or more "forgotten" windows.

If there is a need to open the windows with a dead battery in the key fob, insert the service key into the hidden lock of the driver's door and turn to one side and hold - the windows will either go down or go up.

I hope no one needs to tell about the service key?;) This is the "thing" that is pulled out of the key fob.

Service book:

Safety:

1. Comfortline is equipped with 6 airbags:

for the driver and front passenger,

side airbags in the left and right front seats,

left and right window cushions (curtains).

Seat belts have pretensioners (in case of impact, the belts will automatically tighten, pressing the person to the seat for 1-2 seconds). Pretensioning system - squib.

Also for child seats there is a fixation system "ISOFIX".

Controls and equipment:

1. Inside the trunk, on the lid itself, there is a handle for unlocking from the inside. Now it will no longer be possible to take the offender to the forest ... and some would like to be buried so much +)))

2. Automatic window regulators provide protection against attack. It is arranged in such a way that if, when closing the window, an obstacle is encountered on the way (the hand of an attacking person, animal), the glass will stop. But if you try to close the window again, the automation will try, despite the obstacle, to close the window with double effort. If this time the obstacle cannot be overcome, then after the third attempt to close the window, the automation will try to close with maximum effort, blocking the closing mechanism at the highest point, blocking the obstructing object between the glass and the door frame. You can safely call the police - the criminal will not run away;)

This protection does not work when locking windows from the outside with a key fob.

3. If you forget to turn on the headlights or dimensions, the car will constantly beep, reminding you to turn it off.

4. When the "emergency gang" is on and the movement starts, just turn on the turn signal, and the emergency light will turn off for the duration of the turn signal, thereby making it clear to other road users about your intention.

At speeds above 60 km / h, with emergency braking, the "emergency gang" will turn on automatically. But if emergency braking was "false", at the beginning of the movement, the "emergency gang" will turn itself off.

5. Assistance system when changing lanes. It is worth tilting the turn signal knob slightly in the right side and let go and the turn signal, having worked three times, will turn itself off. Now you do not need to divert attention to turning off the turn signal after rebuilding.

6. There are lighting lamps in the glove box and in the armrest as well as cooling / heating switches inner space boxes. In summer - cool drinks, in winter heating of frozen mineral water, mistakenly left in the cabin;) A trifle, but nice.

7. Windshield wipers ("wipers"). A bunch of operating modes, fast, slow and so on. But what is interesting: when you spray anti-freeze on the windshield, the air conditioner switches to air recirculation mode for a while, thereby preventing air with "nasty" methyl alcohol vapors from entering the cabin. Antifreeze no longer "stinks". Hurrah, comrades!

Setting the wipers in a vertical position (service or winter position). After stopping the engine, press the wiper switch once, the wipers will move to the vertical position. When you start moving, the wipers will drop into place on their own.

After each use, the wipers are parked alternately either higher or lower at a distance of about 1 cm. Officially, this is done to reduce the deformation of the gum. And also this function is made so that the rubber bands do not freeze on the ice accumulated under the park area of the wipers. Very useful feature. I already appreciated. With wet snowfall in a traffic jam, using the wipers, sooner or later "ice" forms under them. On this "icing" wipers stick, if you leave the car for the night without lifting them. And here, in the trade wind, the wipers cleared the glass, descended on the "ice" and in a second rose above it by 1 cm, thereby not touching the ice and, as a result, not freezing.

Heated windshield washer nozzles!

When the hood is open (poorly closed) neither the wipers nor the nozzles work. Why - I do not know.

8. The rain sensor has a smooth intensity adjustment. Notice the top wheel on the wiper switch. Left position - weak intensity, to the right - increased activity of the rain sensor.

9. All car windows have an athermal coating and factory tinted.

10. The rear view mirror has a special anti-reflective layer.

11. The rear armrest has a hatch for long items. It opens with a service key, which is located inside the main key fob.

12. The ashtray for the front passengers in the center console can be easily removed and the empty container can be used for other items (phone, wallet).

13. There is a 12V socket in the trunk. Under the air deflectors rear passengers there is a 220V socket. Power consumption 150 W. Peak not more than 300 watts.

For reference:

TV 21" - 180 W.

Mini fridge - 170 W.

Computer (power supply) - 120 watts.

Incandescent lamp - 100 W.

Portable fan - 100W.

Stationary mixer - 100 W.

Curling iron - 90 W.

Notebook - 50 watts.

Daylight lamp - 23 W.

DVD player - 17 W.

Wireless Wi-Fi router - 7 W.

Charging for mobile phone- 4 W.

In general, distribute the Internet through a router with a USB modem in nature to all vacationers on the lake and play your favorite game on a laptop computer game Can. Although what kind of outdoor recreation after that ...

14. Function emergency braking. In case of failure of the main braking system, it is necessary to press and hold the parking brake button for 2 or more seconds. The car will automatically take measures to stop as soon as possible by braking all four wheels, and the system is also activated. exchange rate stability to prevent the demolition / skidding of the machine.

I will add on my own that this system I also use on slippery road, if I can’t cope with the control on my own and the car starts to “chat” from side to side.

Ice tested. I deliberately drive the car into a skid and try to get out of it myself, not to continue it and switch to another sporty element of driving, namely, as in ordinary life, I just try to stabilize the car. Then the same experiment, but using the parking brake button - the result is always better. True, after pressing the button, in order to stop emergency braking, it is necessary to press the gas, which not everyone can do at the moment of panic.

ATTENTION: this way exit from the demolition / skidding is not official and documented! I am only describing one of the ways it can be applied with the main braking system running!

Don't repeat this at home, in short;)

Driving and Maintenance:

1. The pad wear indicator will always tell you special badge when it's time to change them.

2. Braking system (BAS). In an emergency, most people start to brake in a timely manner, but often with insufficient force on the brake pedal. At this moment, BAS comes to the rescue and, during heavy braking, creates in the brake system maximum pressure, thereby ensuring the best performance of the ABS system.

The brake booster is active as long as the brake pedal is depressed at least a little. As soon as the brake is released - BAS stops its work.

In fact, if at an emergency moment, you managed to squeeze the brake pedal at least once, then BAS comes into play and does everything for you. You just have to leave a little foot pressure on the brake pedal.

3. The EDS traction system will allow you to easily move off even on ice by blocking the electronic differential.

4. System ESP stabilization Reduces the likelihood of a vehicle skidding or skidding.

5. Unlike other brands, in particular, in the trade wind, the plant itself provides for the procedure for "lighting up" a car from another car. Plus to plus, minus a charged "battery" to the ear of a car engine with a discharged "battery". Electronics is equipped with surge protection. "Brains" will not burn.

By analogy, you can help a motorist in trouble.

Technical data:

1. FSI engine 2.0 liters accelerates to hundreds in 10.2 seconds. I am sure that if the computer calculated 10.2, then a live driver can squeeze out 9 seconds. However, I personally can’t get out of 10.6 ... Apparently, winter tires and 17 "wheels interfere. Summer will put everything in its place.

CD receiver RCD 300:

1. When the vehicle speed increases, the radio volume is automatically increased. This is configured by the "GALA" function. Press "MENU" on the radio, then the "SETUP" item, then go to the "GALA" function on the top left. Next, use the arrows to adjust the volume more or less when picking up speed. You can also adjust the "ON VOL" function there. This is the volume level of the radio when the ignition is turned on. In order not to go deaf if the Rammstein was turned on "to the full" before parking.

That's the whole service book. More precisely, the most interesting of it. More precisely, what I did not know before and never owned a car with one of these functions.

Well, from the unverified by me from someone else's article, the following points remained:

32. If you close the car with the key fob, then the person from the inside will not be able to exit through the door, even with a double pull on the door opening handle. The only option is to get out through the window, if open, or through the trunk.

A little bit of humor

40. Don't slam doors and they won't creak. Come on?

43. Electric power steering is equipped with a function to reduce vibration on rough roads.

Volkswagen Passat B6 was first shown in Geneva in 2005. The novelty has acquired a more sporty exterior, the smooth lines of the body panels of the Volkswagen Passat B6 gave the car a more stylish design and improved aerodynamics.

The platform on which the new Passat was built - B6 - has undergone a major upgrade. Now it has a completely different layout of the main structural elements, such as the body, chassis and power plant.

The interior of the VW Passat B6 has been radically redesigned. Now finishing materials are different the highest quality, and the WV Passat B6's standard options list covers the widest range of equipment.

In the spring of 2007, the Volkswagen Passat B6 saw the light on a diesel engine. New BlueMotion 105 diesel engine Horse power shows amazing performance in terms of fuel economy. Volkswagen Passat B6 diesel consumes only five liters of fuel in a combined cycle.

In the same year in model line brand appeared sports version Volkswagen Passat 6th generation under the symbol R36. VW Passat 2007 had a lower ground clearance. Doors, limit switches exhaust system and false radiator grille Volkswagen Passat 2007 finished with chrome. The bumpers of the car have also been changed. Among the interior features are a steering wheel truncated at the bottom, special pedal pads, aluminum inserts in the front panel, as well as Recaro seats. In addition, the model has improved brake system and pendant.

If for you the determining factor in choosing a Passat B6 - the price, it is better to pay attention to the "older" model, for example, 2005 Passat. It is known that you can buy a 2005 Volkswagen Passat in a used condition for only half a million rubles. Typically, the equipment of an old Volkswagen Passat 2005 includes options such as air conditioning, cruise control, various systems course stabilization.

A 2006 Volkswagen Passat will cost a little more. This machine can be equipped with two options climatic installations: Climatronic or Climatronic. Two temperature control zones allow individual adjustment of the microclimate in the right and left parts of the cabin. Moreover, air conditioning volkswagen Passat 2006 model year has a diffused airflow mode and works without drafts.

Relatively new cars Volkswagen Passat 2008-2009 generation B6 can be purchased at perfect condition at official dealers. However, one should be aware of the negative feedback from the owners of the Volkswagen Passat 2008-2009.

So, for example, many people note with displeasure the poor level of sound insulation on the 2009 VW Passat, especially compared to its "the same age". Dissatisfaction is caused by the vaunted suede Alcantara seats that are installed in some versions of the 2009 Volkswagen Passat: in the summer, the back sweats from this suede, and spools also appear, which suggests that the seats are worn out.

The wretchedness of the interior is also noted, the illumination of the instrument panel that irritates the eyes, as if it were some kind of.

Passat in the back of B6 entered the assembly line in 2005 and existed in this form until 2010. The sixth generation people's car became a turning point for the Passat: if early models differed little from Audi (like the B5 version, built on the Audi platform A4 / A6), then this car was created on the upgraded PQ46 chassis from the fifth Golf. This entailed a return to a transverse engine layout, a simpler McPherson front suspension (instead of the previous multi-link) and a multi-link rear suspension (instead of a semi-independent beam) - driving performance only benefited from it. Sedans and station wagons lost their strict forms, but at the same time they grew up, began to look more solid, and be equipped with richer ones. But all this progress has shaken the reputation of the car, once considered one of the most reliable in its class.

ENGINE

The range of power units is quite wide. And the most reliable engines, as you might guess, are the good old aspirated 1.6 liters (102 hp) with distributed fuel injection. "Quietly you go, you will continue ”- just about them. A small number of versions with these motors on secondary market quite rightly: 12.8 seconds to a hundred is too short for a D-class sedan. Rest petrol units equipped with direct injection, and mostpowerful - also a turbine. And this is where you need to keep your eyes peeled. And sometimes literally. So, for example, if the most popular 1.8-liter turbo engine in the range (160 hp) began to make rumbling sounds, then most likely you will have to go to replace the timing chain and its hydraulic tensioner. And this can happen very early - already at 100 thousand km. It is better not to delay this, so as not to run into a replacement for the block head. But the end warranty period fraught with other surprises: by the end of the first hundred, the intake manifold is sometimes “covered”; a pump combined with a thermostat and a temperature sensor; turbocharger control solenoid valve ... And if you refuel poor quality fuel, then you can “get” to the heap and the pump high pressure. In addition to this, all engines with direct injection do not have the most stable ignition system: with insufficient warming up, candles are quickly “killed”, which thereby disable the ignition coils. And do not forget to monitor the oil level: with active driving, consumption can reach up to half a liter per 1000 km. Not a lot. But more powerful turbocharged engine(2.0 l, 200 hp) in a fairly shabby condition can eat twice as much! But this unit is still less capricious, except that on engines until 2008, due to insufficient lubrication, there were cases of wear on the intake camshaft cam, which actuated the fuel pump.

Complete set with a 1.8 TFSI turbo engine - oneof the most common on the secondarymarket. Its main drawback is not the mostreliable chain drive timing

Atmospheric "direct" motors 1.6 FSI (115 hp) and 2.0 FSI (150 hp) sinned with a poor start in cold weather (the problem is solved by flashing the ECU at the dealer) and rapid wear timing belt, which should be changed in advance - already at 60 thousand km. The most powerful gasoline engines of 3.2 liters (250 hp) have shortcomingsrelatively few: including chain stretching and high flow fuel (about 14 liters in the city).

There are not many 1.4-liter TSIs on sale: how in the case of 1.8 TFSI, you should be carefulto the timing chain

But, perhaps, the most successful power unit for the Passat is a 2-liter turbodiesel (140–170 hp) with a Common Rail system, produced since 2008. If these engines are refueled with normal diesel fuel, then problems should not arise. Otherwise, replace the injection pump. The rest of the diesel engines are more picky about the quality of fuel: expensive unit injectors installed separately for each cylinder can fail here.

Atmospheric motors with directfuel injected (1.6 FSI and 2.0 FSI) hadproblems with starting in the winter season, whichsolved by flashing the ECU

TRANSMISSION

WITH mechanical boxes everything is relatively clear: after 150 thousand km, clicks and knocks may occur at the start of movement. These are the first signs of a worn-out dual-mass flywheel, aggregated from the manual gearbox to diesel vehicles. The 6-speed automatic Aisin, which suffered from overheating, could also throw problems: often, by 80–100 thousand km, its bearings and valve body failed. But the most troublesome can be delivered by those who are notorious DSG robots. The lesser of evils is the DQ250 “six-speed” with a more durable “wet” clutch, the weak point of which is the mechatronic hydraulic control unit. But even after replacing it, shocks during switching may appear again. DSG-7 (DQ200) with dry clutches can cause problems not only with “mechatronics”, but also with “raw” control program and weak clutches. Fortunately, in 2010 the clutch discs were reinforced, the ECU was pre-flashed, and in 2012 VAG extended the warranty for the DQ200 box to five years or 150 thousand km. Also reassuring is the fact that the cost of repairing such boxes has dropped dramatically over the years: the most expensive DSG-6 repair "turnkey" in a private service has fallen in price almost three times and usually does not exceed 120 thousand rubles.

Cars older than 2008 often have nikal knock in steering gear: rack bushingsfell into disrepair by 60-100 thousand km

Intervention in the rear suspension is rare required before 100 thousand km

SUSPENSION AND RUNNING

Against the background of all of the above, the running gear is unpretentiousness itself. Most weakness front suspension - silent blocks of the front levers, which at first served no more than 20-30 thousand km. After modernization in 2008, these parts began to run 2–3 times longer. Most consumables such as front and rear stabilizer struts, steering tips, front shock absorbers, silent blocks front subframe and rear breakup levers, become unusable by about 100 thousand km. Steering with an electric booster, it is very reliable, except that for cars manufactured before 2008, the owners were dissatisfied with knocking on bumps, which was caused by quickly wearing steering rack bushings.

BODY, ELECTRICAL AND INTERIOR

After long Russian winters chrome, of course, peels off, but there are no complaints about the hardware. But with numerous electronic "gadgets" you can pretty much suffer: the parking brake electric drives, the rotary mechanism of the adaptive head optics, the door and trunk locks, the factory radio tape recorder fail ... But the breakdown of the electronic lock is the most unpleasantELV steering column, which is changed only at an authorized service due to the need to flash the immobilizer. A long list of "diseases" does not mean that all this necessarily happens on every car, these are just possible problems.

VERDICT

Volkswagen Passat B6 due to advanced technologies has become one of the leaders in its segment. But in terms of reliability, perhaps, it loses to competitors Japanese stamps with simpler power units. On its side - excellent driving performance, spacious interior and good equipment. When buying, it is best to look for a car with a Common Rail turbodiesel and “mechanics”. Moreover, it is better to consider specimens younger than 2008, on which most childhood diseases have been eliminated.
