Can you tint the front windows? Tinting according to GOST on the side and front windows of the car

18.07.2019

Athermal tinting is applied in order to protect from the sun and heat, which the former gives in incommensurable quantities. Chameleon tinting, on the other hand, is just a kind of athermal film, and it differs in that it tends to automatically change light transmission depending on the brightness of the sun. To what extent do both types of these tints comply with laws, state standards and other standards, and are they allowed?

Let's start with the fact that there is no GOST for athermal tinting, as well as in general - there is a technical regulation according to which the light transmission of the windshield and front side windows must comply with the norm of 70%. This means that these glasses must pass 70% of all the light that enters through them from the outside into the interior of the car. And therefore (for the traffic police inspector) there is absolutely no difference whether you have tinted or not, whether it is athermal or not, whether it is "chameleon" or not, in general it is transparent, black, green, blue or purple and so on.

And here one trouble awaits us: in everyday life you will not find glass, the light transmission of which reaches 100%, and the glass of absolutely all cars from the factory is even less transparent than, for example, the glass of window frames. It depends on the model specific car, but, as a rule, the light transmission of car windows is about 80-90%. And if you are going to glue an athermal film on the windows of your car, then you should know that this athermal tinting has a slightly lower light transmission and the "chameleon" tinting has even less light transmission.

As a result, we get that in most cases, the athermal film on the windshield and front side windows will not provide sufficient light transmission according to GOST in 70%. By the way, about GOST - the norms of light transmission of the front hemisphere of car windows are still regulated by GOSTs, and the same 70% appear there. This GOST is called "GOST 32565-2013. Interstate standard. Safety glass for land transport. Are common specifications.", and the paragraph itself reads as follows:

5.1.2.5. The light transmission of glasses that provide visibility for the driver in front must be at least 70% for windshields and for glasses that are not windshields, but provide a view of the driver in front and behind. Provided that two external rear-view mirrors are installed on vehicles, the light transmission of glasses providing a rear view of the driver is not standardized.

There are only two points regarding this GOST: firstly, it refers more (it is guided by it) to manufacturers of windshields and side windows; secondly, the punishment for driving a car with athermal tinting not according to GOST () is provided not at all for violating GOST as such, but for violating the "Technical Regulations Customs Union TR CU 018/2011 "On the safety of wheeled vehicles", paragraph 4.3 of which reads:

4.3. The light transmission of the windshield and windows through which forward visibility for the driver is provided must be at least 70%.

(As of the date this article was written, this TR of the Customs Union canceled the previous document, which contained a similar ban - "Technical Regulations on the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles", however, changes have not yet been made to the Code of Administrative Offenses.)

So what is the answer to main question, arising from the reader: is athermal tinting or "chameleon" tinting allowed - will it pass testing by the traffic police inspector's device for light transmission of at least 70%? You understand that the answer to it is individual for everyone and depends on the initial light transmission of the glasses, set by the manufacturer of your car, as well as on the brand of athermal tint film - more precisely, its light transmission. The situation is even more complicated with "chameleon" tinting - there is an opinion (it is not confirmed by measurements) that the light transmission after measurement by a traffic police officer of such a film can always be different depending on the level of illumination on the street and the place of measurement.

And here, perhaps, the best solution to the issue of the legality of athermal tinting can be measured by one's own efforts. You can find or purchase a device that measures the light transmission of glass, or in general, before tinting a car, ask for a piece of such a film from tinters, go to a traffic police post and there heart-rendingly ask you to try to measure this film on your car. windshield- maybe they won't refuse. The only condition: you will need to stick this piece of athermal tinting on the glass, otherwise its loose fit to the glass will show unreliable data on light transmission. Then don't forget to rip off that tint.

There is one more important point- athermal tinting and the "chameleon" film "mirror" quite strongly - especially, this applies to the "Dubai" tinting, which is actually a mirror tint, and mirror tinting is completely prohibited for cars (here we are talking about a complete ban on the "SLR", and not the norm at 70% light transmission). In theory, in the case of an athermal film, which is quite a bit mirrored, nothing will happen according to the law, since the concept of "mirror" tinting is not reflected in any regulatory legal act and therefore, according to Article 1.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, "Irremovable doubts about the guilt of a person brought to administrative responsibility are interpreted in favor of this person. That is, until the very concept of mirror tinting is known and the criteria for such "mirror" are not defined, then a person cannot be prosecuted for this. However, in practice there is such an "iron" argument in the courts as the all-seeing and impartial eye of the traffic police inspector, who personally determines whether your tint is mirrored or not. However, attracting drivers with athermal tinting and with a "chameleon" film precisely because of their specularity is a rather rare phenomenon today.

Window tinting allows you to make sure that others will not see what is happening in the car, while the driver, as well as passengers, will see the surrounding area. When tinting auto glass, the light-transmitting, color and reflective properties of automotive glass change.

When tinted, car windows become dark on the outside, which is visible to the naked eye. Often the presence of tinting is noticeable even at a long distance.

Tinting allows you to reduce the heating of the car interior from sunlight (especially athermal tinting), tinting does not let in harmful ultraviolet rays, if the glass is damaged, tinting will not allow fragments to scatter and cause injury. As you can see, the advantages of having tinted windows on cars are obvious.

Types of tinting

So, having decided to tint the windows of your car, you need to choose the type of tinting.

To date, there are three most popular types of car window tinting:

  1. Spraying.
  2. Window films.
  3. Fabric protective screens.

When tinting auto glass by spraying, a thin layer of metal or polymer is applied to the glass. This method tinting is the least expensive, but such tinting is short-lived, it will not strengthen the glass, and it may be difficult to remove it. Such tinting, unlike tinting film, cannot be simply peeled off from the car glass.

The most common type of tinting is by sticking window film on the glass. This method is more expensive than spraying, but it is justified.

You can stick both a classic dark film and a color one, which will make your car stand out from a car with a classic design. At the same time, it is forbidden by law to glue the mirror film on the windows of the car. Window films also differ in composition:

  1. Metallized - more resistant to mechanical damage.
  2. Spatter - with magnetron sputtering.

The least common among motorists are fabric protective screens. This tinting method consists in installing a transparent fabric protective screen into the car window.

This screen is installed with inside car, which allows you to save the effect of tinting with the windows down, protect the interior from insects, it is possible to repeatedly remove the screen and install it again. However, with this type of tinting, visibility is significantly reduced.

Another type of tinting is athermal. This tint does not darken car glass, maintains a view both from the inside and outside. However, athermal tinted coating will avoid heating the car interior from sunlight. Such a coating will prevent burnout of the car interior and keep it presentable. appearance.

Toning according to GOST

In Russia, at the legislative level, there are requirements that various products must meet. State standards (GOST) have been developed for goods of various categories, including tinted coatings.

Consider GOST for tinting, and also analyze what kind of tinting is allowed on the front windows of a car. To date, the requirements for tinting automotive glass are contained in GOST 32565-2013. This document regulates the degree of permissible dimming of the front door windows and windshield of the car. Tinted rear door windows rear window you can, at your request, with any light transmission, without focusing on GOST, since the legislation does not regulate the dimming of these glasses. However, mirror tinted rear windows are prohibited by law.

Tinted front windows according to GOST:

  1. The transmittance of the tinted coating should be equal to seventy percent (it can be less, but not higher than this value).
  2. Any visual distortion of objects at any time of the day is not allowed.

Tinted front side windows may have a lower light transmission percentage than windshield tinting. Windshield tinting in accordance with GOST must meet the same characteristics as the tinting of the front side windows, however, the light transmission parameters must be at least seventy-five percent.

In addition, drivers quite often resort to. On our site you will find many useful information about this question.

Who can check the light transmission of the film?

Earlier, we found out that the tinted coating of car windows must comply with the rules approved by law (GOST). The question arises as to who and how has the right to check the windows of your car for an acceptable degree of tinting.

Until 2015, glass tinting was checked exclusively by employees conducting vehicle inspections. Not so long ago, changes were made to the legislation, thanks to which the traffic police officers also have the authority to check the tinting of auto glass today.

Previously, it was possible to check the light transmission of a tinted coating only at stationary traffic police posts, today it is possible to carry out such a check anywhere.

You can check the degree of light transmission of tinting with a special device that a traffic police officer should have. If the authorized person does not have such a device with him, and the driver is offered to drive to the traffic police post to check the tinting, the driver has the right to refuse. By legal qualification this action traffic police officer will qualify as administrative detention. Administrative detention to reveal the fact of an offense cannot be carried out, as well as the detention of a vehicle.

When checking the degree of light transmission of tinting, it is necessary to pay attention to the device by which such a check is carried out. The device must have a seal with the date of its verification. Also, an authorized person must have a certificate for the device.

GOST provides the following algorithm for checking tinting:

  1. Measurement of air temperature, its humidity and atmospheric pressure.
  2. Cleaning glass and removing moisture from it.
  3. Providing the driver with a certificate for the device, as well as a certificate from an employee confirming his ability to measure light transmission.
  4. Toning and maintenance.

When passing technical inspection the vehicle's light transmission will also be tested.

The law does not impose special requirements for checking tinting during technical inspection. GOST for the permissible degree of dimming applies the general - 32565-2013. The rules for measuring the light transmission of glasses are similar.

If you know that your car is tinted in violation of GOST, and a technical inspection is ahead, it is best to bring the tinting coating in line with GOST, then you will not have any problems when passing MOT.

Some drivers try to pass the inspection with the windows down, but today the inspection staff are aware of the existing tricks of motorists. You can remove the tint coating before passing the technical inspection, and after receiving a document on its passage, return the tinting. Another way to pass an inspection in violation of the rules of tinting is private maintenance organizations.

Despite the variety of ways to pass maintenance in violation of the rules of tinting, we advise you not to neglect these rules, since if violations are detected, you will have to bear responsibility for this act.

Sanctions for tinting

We found out that the tinted coating of car windows must necessarily meet the requirements of the state standard. The traffic police officer has the right to check the light transmission of the tinted coating. What is the punishment provided by law for violating the rules of tinting?

Previously, the law was quite harsh on drivers who violate the rules for window tinting - for inconsistent windshield tinting, the inspector could remove the numbers from the car. Today, the law provides for other types of punishment. For violation of the minimum percentage of light transmission of the tinted coating, the driver faces a fine of five hundred rubles. However, its size can be reduced to half if paid through the public services service, there will also be a discount if the fine is paid before the expiration of twenty days from the date of the protocol.

At the same time, if a protocol for a similar offense is drawn up against you again, the amount of the fine will not change in any way - you will again have to pay five hundred rubles.

However, the traffic police officer may go the other way and not issue a fine to the driver. The inspector has the right to issue a written warning to the driver with the obligation to eliminate the offense within a certain period of time, that is, to remove the tint that does not comply with the requirements of the law. If the driver does not eliminate the offense, he may be fined one thousand rubles, or arrested for up to fifteen days.

Tricks when using tinting - how not to get a fine?

According to statistics from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2018, five thousand protocols were drawn up in Moscow for violating the rules for tinting.

A large number of car enthusiasts mistakenly believe that if there is a removable tint on the car windows that exceeds the permissible dimming standards, they will be able to avoid liability. This conclusion is incorrect, since liability is provided for the fact of the presence of unacceptable tinting, even if the driver removes it when the vehicle is stopped by the inspector.

Note that even if the light transmission is lower by a couple of percent of allowable rate the driver will also be responsible. In order not to get a fine for using car window tinting, you must comply with the requirements of GOST for tinted coating. If the tinted coating on the windows of your car does not meet the requirements of GOST, and the traffic police officer intends to draw up a protocol on administrative offense, request a light transmission test immediately. Previously, we considered the rules for conducting such a check. Be sure to check the presence of a seal on the device with which the light transmission will be checked, the date of the device check on the seal and the date of the next check. If it is raining, snowing or fogging outside, make a remark to the traffic police officer that the humidity is exceeded, under these conditions it is impossible to ensure the dryness of the coating, as required by GOST.

If the light transmission of the tinted coating was measured in violation of the requirements of GOST, the driver has the right to appeal the protocol on an administrative offense.

Conclusion

Car window tinting is very important procedure, which can be called necessary. The thing is that a well-made tint film prevents the penetration of ultraviolet and thermal rays and partly reflects glare and light from the headlights of other cars. And besides, tinted windows look very impressive.

Until recently, many car owners were not very interested in the basic rules for window tinting. Subsequently, this led to the fact that the number of fines issued in connection with the violation of these rules increased significantly. It makes you think about possible consequences, and therefore we advise you to familiarize yourself with the contents of this article and find out what it should be according to GOST. We emphasize Special attention that these norms are valid both in Ukraine and in Russia.

Basic Rules

The tinting of the windshield of your car according to GOST should be no more than 25%, and the tinting should not exceed side windows according to GOST - no more than 30%. Also on Windshield reflective film up to 14 cm wide can be installed to improve the driver's visibility. There are no restrictions on rear windows, however, the use mirror film also prohibited (strong reflection of light may lead to an accident).

Front windows (both windshield and side windows) should not distort the yellow, green, white and red colors of the spectrum. Otherwise, it will be considered an additional violation.

In Russia, the fine is 500 rubles, and in Ukraine - 330-430 UAH. Today, car windshields are initially made such that they let in about 80% of the light, so at least the windshield does not need to be tinted. The same applies to the front side, and the fact is that the lightest tint film of a car is absorbed by 10-20%, so there is a significant risk of exceeding the norm, which will certainly lead to a fine.

If you still decide to do their tinting, then be sure to check the percentage of light transmitted at the tinting point. But with the rear everything is much easier. You're almost unlimited here, with the exception of the aforementioned mirror film, so tint them as much as you want.

Car tinting methods

As you can see, the limitations are quite significant, but how then, in this case, to deal with discomfort due to insufficient dimming. This is especially true on hot summer days, when the sun's rays directly burn everything in their path. So, there are several ways to tint windows:

  • thermal film. Pretty good option, because its heat sink properties are well combined with sufficient light transmission. And it does not reduce visibility in rain, fog and dark time days;
  • sticker on the top of the windshield of a car. Probably the most cheap option, helps protect the eyes from the blinding sun, that's all;
  • electrotinting or electro-chrome film. These are the most modern ways, and the most expensive. They have the most suitable light transmission, plus they can change properties depending on the environment.

Top five tint films

TO the best brands tint films for car windows include:

  • SunTek;
  • Johnson Window;
  • Sun Gard;
  • Llumar;
  • sun control.

For example, the film on Llumar Air 80 glass is shown in the photo.

Car window tint check

Such a check is carried out using a special device (taumeter). Any traffic police officer has the right to check your car.

There can be only 2 exceptions: if the seal on the taumeter is broken or the operating conditions of the device are not met.

A taumeter can only work under the following conditions:

  • air humidity is 60 (tolerance 20%);
  • the pressure level is from 80 to 106 kPa;
  • temperature from 15 to 25 °C;
  • no rainy weather;
  • no frost.

If you are sure that all the rules for tinting the car were met, and you still got a fine, then you can appeal this decision within 10 days. However, this opportunity will appear only if you were checked on the spot. It is believed that at a stationary post with an equipped laboratory, all requirements are met. Be especially careful if you are required to "another way to pay for the violation."

Additional Notes

Also, don't forget that:

  • it is forbidden to tint headlights and turn signals;
  • over the years, the light transmission of car windows decreases, which can lead to violations;
  • in Russia, a proposal is being considered to increase the fine for a secondary violation of the norm to 5,000 rubles. And for the following violations of car drivers, a 6-month deprivation of a driver's license can wait.

For many drivers, a car is not only a means of transportation, but also a fashion accessory. Motorists improve it, use different kinds tuning. Thanks to this, you can not only improve the appearance of the car, but also protect your eyesight from direct sunlight. However, such an update may result in a fine for the driver. GOST for tinting is not known to everyone. You can find it in our article.

Benefits of tinting

The car has a lot of advantages. Every year, drivers increasingly prefer to darken the windows of their car. Such tuning is especially in demand in summer time of the year. It protects the car interior from overheating. It's no secret that from high temperatures the seats get hot, and there is also a chance that the plastic housings of the built-in appliances may crack. Thanks to tinting, the interior of the car will retain its original view as long as possible.

Car window tinting will allow you to hide everything that happens inside from strangers. This will protect your personal belongings that are in the car from theft. It will be especially difficult for a fraudster to see a black wallet or bag in the cabin.
As a rule, the rear windows of a car are made of material. If a strong impact occurs, they shatter into small pieces and can cause serious injury to the passenger. Rear window tinting will significantly reduce the risk of injury. Thanks to this tuning, with a strong impact, the fragments will remain on the film.

Armored tinting is especially popular. It keeps the car warm, and also protects the glass from bumps and damage.

Glass tinting and its disadvantages

The front brings discomfort to the driver in winter time of the year. This is one of its main shortcomings. When tinted, visibility is significantly reduced. Such tuning interferes with those motorists who drive behind you. The risk of collision increases.

The film for tinting may be pasted poorly. This can cause bubbles, cracks or scratches to form on the glass. These shortcomings may appear several days after the application of the film. Poor quality material or improper gluing can cause premature glass replacement.

Film "Chameleon"

Toning according to GOST will help to avoid penalties. "Chameleon" is a film that has the ability to automatically change light transmission depending on the level of illumination. Is she allowed?

Many motorists believe that the Chameleon film does not comply with GOST. However, this opinion is erroneous. Windshield tinting must have a light transmission of at least 70%. This indicator allows you to provide a free view on the road. At correct selection film "Chameleon" it will not bring discomfort to the driver and will not cause fines.

Film "Chameleon" of any kind has a mirror effect. However, its level is not standardized. In the event that the traffic police officer draws up a report on the driver due to excessive specularity, the motorist can sue for this and prove his innocence.

Installation of tinting "Chameleon" has a lot of nuances. Applying it to glass is quite difficult. If the master overheats the film in some places, it will permanently change color. It is for this reason that it is necessary to trust the tinting only to a highly qualified and experienced specialist. Any errors will be visible to the naked eye. To solve the problem, you will have to completely change the glass. The cost of installing a film that automatically changes color ranges from 10 thousand rubles.

according to GOST

GOST for tinting is not known to every motorist. However, ignorance of the rules is no excuse. Improper tinting can result in fines. Every driver should know all the features of the bill. You can find them in our article.

Windshield tinting has several nuances. Their light transmission should be at least 70-75%. Drawings and inscriptions are strictly prohibited on the surface of windshields. You can't also use color film. The top 14 centimeters of the windshield can be darkened more than the main part of it.

The light transmission of glass on the doors can range from 65%. Rear window tinting can be supplemented with special blinds. However, they significantly reduce visibility.

Where can I check the level of tint?

Many motorists do not know the level of light transmission of glass on their car. To date, a wide variety of techniques for applying tinting are known. The level of light transmission in the machine directly depends on the density of the selected material. GOST for tinting has a lot of nuances. Failure to comply can result in more than just a fine. For such a violation, traffic police officers can deprive an unscrupulous driver of his rights.

There are several ways to help measure the level of light transmission in vehicle. You can purchase a special device and take measurements yourself. However, its cost is quite high. After you measure the light transmission in your car, as well as in the vehicles of relatives and friends, the device will no longer be necessary. If you don't have enough Money, then we strongly do not recommend you to buy it.

The level of light transmission in the vehicle can also be measured at the station Maintenance. This procedure will not take much time. It will cost the driver inexpensively.

The level of light transmission can be found at the nearest traffic police post. It is worth noting that in the event that it is found that the tinting film does not meet the requirements, the traffic police will draw up a protocol and require you to pay a fine as soon as possible.

How not to be deceived

Many do not know all the subtleties. They are often deceived. How do traffic police officers check tinting? The traffic police carefully monitors the implementation of bills. In order not to be deceived, study the information provided in our article.

In the event that a traffic police officer stopped you and, without taking measurements, claims that prohibited tinting is installed on your car, then you can safely drive on. It is possible to establish excess of the norm only with the help of a special device.

If a traffic police officer has a special device, be sure to pay attention to whether it has a seal and individual number on the hull. In the event that the glass thickness on your car exceeds 7.5 millimeters, pay attention to the name measuring instrument. You can measure the tint on your car only with the help of the BLIK + device. To take measurements with another device, an employee of the State Inspectorate traffic has no right.

Few people know this, but it is possible to measure the level of tinting only under certain conditions. weather conditions. Measurements should take place only in the warm season, when it is 15-25 degrees Celsius outside. Rain and other precipitation should be absent. Inspection of car windows without fail must take place with two witnesses. Measurements are made at three different points.

To avoid penalties, you can set removable tinting. It can be dropped at any time.

Penalties

GOST on tinting provides for penalties for violation of the rules. At the end of last year the government Russian Federation considered amendments to the bill. They entered into force in 2016. Thanks to the amendments, the amount of the first fine increased to 1,500 rubles. In the event that an unscrupulous driver ignores the previous remark, he will be obliged to pay 5 thousand Russian rubles. Penalties will be issued within 12 months of the violation. deprivation driving license possible up to 90 days.

What are the changes in the bill?

Amendments to the bill on tinting were not adopted by chance. This is due to the fact that the number of offenders has recently increased. Employees of the traffic police claim that the increase in the number of unscrupulous drivers is due to the fact that recently it is forbidden to remove license plates for discrepancies in tinting.

The increase in offenders was also due to the fact that the penalty, which was provided for by the old bill, was not a serious amount for most drivers. Over 500,000 protocols were drawn up in the first half of last year. The largest number of violations was recorded in Moscow. There, for the first quarter, 60,000 fines for excessive tinting were issued.

Post traffic police and checking the level of light transmission of glasses

Recently, glass tinting has become very popular. GOST provides for many requirements for dimming a car. There are cases when a traffic police officer stopped a driver outside the traffic police post and offered to check the level of tinting. The motorist has the right to refuse, even if the car has violations.

The inspector may once again offer to drive to the traffic police post to find out the level of tinting. However, the driver may not respond to the words of the traffic police officer and drive on.

Who can measure the degree of tinted windows?

Human rights activists argue that only a specially trained person, namely the state inspector of technical supervision, has the right to measure the level of light transmission of glasses. However, the amendments that came into force last year state that now any traffic police officer can check the degree of tinting. To do this, he must have a special device with him, which has an individual number, and is also included in the State Register. It is also imperative to pay attention to the presence of a seal. If it is missing, then the inspector has no right to measure the level of light transmission in your car.

Summing up

Window tinting is very popular among drivers. Such tuning can protect the interior of the car from burnout, damage and prying eyes. If you decide to apply tinting to the windows of your car, then first of all find a highly qualified master. Thanks to him, the tuning will be flawless. It is important to study all the subtleties of the bill in advance and choose the highest quality film. In this case, you will completely eliminate the risk of penalizing you for incorrect dimming.

The essence of the new law is to regulate the level of light transmission of tinted glass.

GOST divides car windows into two types.

  1. Glasses for the review of the front view.
  2. Glass for rear view.

There are certain coefficients of permitted tinting:

  • windshield tinting - 75%;
  • tinted front side windows - 70%;
  • unlimited tinting rear windows in the presence of survey mirrors;
  • the upper part of the windshield can be tinted without restrictions, but not more than 140 mm.

The law does not prohibit the use of curtains and blinds for the rear windows, in the presence of mirrors.

More detailed information about how it is carried out, you can find in the material of our specialist.

Checking the level of light transmission of glasses is checked using a special device - a taumeter. It is worth noting that when checking the tinting, the policeman must follow a number of rules.

  1. Light transmission is checked only at stationary police posts.
  2. It is impossible to carry out the test during rain and high air humidity from 45 to 80%.
  3. You can only check on a clean and dry surface.
  4. For reliability, you need to check in three different places.
  5. Before controlling the light transmission, the law enforcement officer must measure the level of atmospheric pressure, which should not exceed 795 mm.
  6. Only a policeman who has a special mark in his certificate can check the glass tint.
  7. The taumeter must have certificates and a seal.
  8. When measuring tinting, the air temperature should not exceed 25 degrees.

Some motorists believe that it is impossible to check at night, but this is not so. In fact, there are no time limits, you can’t check windows only in dirty and slushy weather.

Each driver must know the smallest subtleties of imposing a fine for improper tinting of a car in order to be able to protect themselves from illegal actions by the traffic police.

  1. A fine is imposed only upon violation of the GOST rules, regardless of the degree of violation.
  2. "Removable" tinting in the form of curtains and blinds on car windows does not exempt the violator of GOST on tinting from a fine.
  3. The law, adopted in 2016, says that if a fine is paid within 20 days from the date of the decision on punishment, it is reduced by 50%. The law also applies to other violations of motorists.
  4. The level of light transmission of the film is indicated without taking into account the factors affecting the change in these parameters, because after applying tinting to the glass, its light transmission can be significantly reduced. With prolonged use of the film, it is rubbed with wipers, which also worsens the light transmission parameters.

Earlier use wrong tinting was punishable by the removal car number and prohibiting its use until the violation is corrected. Now such measures are not used, however, it is necessary to adhere to the decree of the law.

There are certain restrictions on the frequency of fines. It is important to pay attention to the fact that the police officer, when drawing up the protocol, indicates the exact date and time. By law, it is not allowed to impose another fine for tinting less than 24 hours after the previous one. If the day has not passed, and the driver was stopped by another law enforcement officer, he must present the existing protocol.

Only a court can impose additional penalties in the form of a fine or arrest. If you disobey the law and drive with the wrong tint after receiving a fine, the court may decide to deprive you of your rights.

A fine for tinting front windows according to GOST in 2019 in the amount of 1,500 rubles. In case of repeated violation - 5000 rubles. You can try to prevent the issuance of a fine in the following ways.

  1. Tinting can be removed right in front of the police, thereby avoiding penalties.
  2. If, while checking the level of light transmission, the policeman violates at least one of the above rules, he must be reported. In case of non-compliance with the rules for the control of tinting, the decision can be appealed in court.
  3. In case of incorrect execution of the protocol by the police, it is necessary to immediately inform the officer about the error. There is a chance that the law enforcement officer will not draw up the document again and let the driver go.
  4. Ways legal tinting car windows.

Ways to legally tint car windows

Recently, the concept of a polymer coating has become legal, so glass can be tinted both with a film and with the use of a special coating. What tint is allowed on the front windows? It can be any, it is only important to observe the light transmission coefficient of the glasses.

Darkening by applying a special coating is not very popular among motorists, because it is short-lived and often of poor quality. A thin layer of metal is applied to the glass surface without vacuum conditions. Such glass tinting has a mirror effect and looks like factory tinting, which is legally allowed; this advantage allows you to reduce the nitpicking of traffic police officers.

The most popular are athermal tints that meet the requirements. Distinguish mirror tinting and "chameleon". Mirror tinting is not prohibited by law, but upon request technical regulations, the presence of a mirror effect on the car is not recommended.
