What is the best way to tint a rear window? How to tint your rear window

The main purpose of tinting is to create a certain image of the car and hide its internal content from prying eyes. So many inexperienced motorists think so. Unlike them, experienced drivers know that tinted windows provide good thermal control of the cabin, and the tinted windows themselves protect against mechanical damage. The cost of applying a tint coating in a car service is quite high, but if you delve into the essence of the process, you can tint the car yourself. Let's figure out how to glue tinting at home.

The choice of material for tinting

There are several ways to darken car windows, but for self-tinting, it is better to use the film pasting method. It is important to know how to stick the film correctly, and what material is better to choose. The film can be:

  • simple, having a black adhesive base;
  • multi-colored;
  • transparent, having various patterns;
  • metallized, with different levels of dimming;
  • with transitional colors;
  • "chameleon" with a mirror surface;
  • silicone;
  • perforated.

    The quality of the tinting and its service life will depend on the tinting material.

    The simplest and most affordable are ready-made kits. Manufacturers cut them out according to the shapes and sizes of glasses. specific model car. Such kits are very convenient, but they are of low quality. Their darkening is achieved not by staining, but by gluing a second film layer. It exfoliates quickly enough, so you will have to deal with plywood often.

    After watching the video you will learn more about the types:

    A little more effort will be required to tint glass with rolled material, since it needs to be cut out yourself. The cost of such material depends on the density and level of dimming. The color range is presented in a wide range, so there is an opportunity to choose for every taste.

    Roll tinting material has such advantages as:

    • dense structure;
    • strength;
    • resistance to mechanical damage;
    • ease of sticking;
    • ease of removal.

    The tinting material comes in the form of a roll (click to enlarge)

    This material is called removable tinting, since the glass under it remains unchanged and you can re-glue such tinting as much as you like.

    Important! Before removing the glued tint film, it must be warmed up with a building hair dryer.

    Removable tinting is produced in a standard length, and one roll is enough for pasting all the windows of the car.

    When choosing a film, it is necessary to take into account its light transmission. Toning windshield must transmit at least 50% of the light. The film covering the side front windows must have throughput not less than 35%, side rear and trunk - 15%.

    Another issue is headlights. Can they be tinted? Glue the tint on the front, rear lights is possible only on condition that the color of their glow and light transmission will be preserved. With headlights that are otherwise tinted, there is a chance that you will not pass the inspection and get a fine.

    Preparation for sticking the film

    For quality glass tinting work, you will need:

    • knife (it is better to use a stationery);
    • hair dryer (preferably building);
    • marker;
    • needle;
    • rubber or plastic spatula;
    • spray;
    • sponge or clean cloth;
    • clear shampoo.

    Learn more from the video:

    Attention! Without the use of shampoo, it is impossible to stick the tint film on the glass evenly, without wrinkles and bubbles. In addition, tinting without shampoo will come off much faster.

    Before gluing removable tinting, glass should be sprayed with soapy water from a spray bottle, rinsed thoroughly on both sides and wiped dry with a clean cloth. Soap solution for washing is prepared from three drops of dishwashing liquid and a liter of water.

    Important! Make sure that no foreign objects remain on the glass, even small villi.

    Any contamination that gets under the film during gluing can greatly damage appearance tinted glass.

    In order for the size of the tinting material to perfectly match the size of the glass, it is better to first make cardboard patterns. This will help to avoid damage to the material, as well as save time, nerves and effort.

    In the manufacture of patterns, an additional one centimeter should be added on each side, since the edges of the film must go under the seal.

    Film sticking

    Tinting should be glued to outside glass. On the inside of the glass, it scratches very quickly, peels off and takes on a shabby look.

    After watching the video you will learn more how to do it yourself:

    If you do tinting in winter, the room must be warmed up to a temperature of at least +10 degrees. Otherwise, the film will not fix well and peel off very quickly.

    We glue the tinting on the car in several stages:

    • before sticking the tint, evenly spray the surface of the glass with shampoo. This temporarily neutralizes the action of the adhesive on the film, and it will be possible to move it freely on the glass in order to precisely fit the shape of the surface to be glued;
    • separate from the top corner of the film protective covering, and glue this corner to the corresponding edge of the glass. Holding the film on the glass, carefully remove the remaining protective layer. In this case, you can take your time, because the shampoo neutralizes the adhesive base for at least 20 minutes;
    • when the protective coating is completely removed, we press the film against the glass and slowly move it so that it fits exactly in its shape;
    • directing a hair dryer at the tinting, warm it up, carefully smooth it out and expel air bubbles with a rubber (plastic) spatula from the center to the edges. If some bubbles cannot be removed, we pierce them with a thin needle. This will not affect either the appearance of the tinting or its service life;
    • after removing the remnants of the shampoo with a dry cloth, leave the tint to dry. To make it stick well, you can’t touch the glass for at least a day. Turning on heaters to speed up the process is highly discouraged. This may cause the film to warp. The adhesive base should dry naturally and be firmly fixed on the glass.

    The process of sticking a film on glass (click to enlarge)

    A special approach requires frontal and rear glass. Ideally, even a spatula will not help to stick tinting on such glasses. You will have to heat the tinting material with a hairdryer, while smoothing it with a spatula and removing air bubbles. Doing all this yourself is quite difficult, so it is better to take an assistant.

    The process of sticking tinting will not seem very complicated and long if you first study all its subtleties and important points. Knowing how to glue tinting correctly, you can protect yourself and car passengers from the scorching sun, and glass from mechanical damage, while saving a considerable amount on the services of professionals.

The dream of every car owner is a reliable car. And if these factors depend on the make and model of the car, then external tuning, respectability and style are components that the driver has the right to decide on his own. As a rule, tuning is aimed at giving the car a more aesthetic appearance and improving driving performance. One of the most popular car tuning methods is window tinting. With its help, you can provide thermal control of the cabin, as well as additionally protect the glass from scratches and chips.

You can tint the windows of your car both at specialized stations and at home. If you choose one of the methods, then sticking the tint film on the rear or windshield yourself will be much more profitable financially.

Self tinting

This process is not so expensive, but requires a serious approach. Initially, you need to decide on the choice of material. There are several types of toning:

  • automatic;
  • athermal;
  • film.

The best option is the athermal film "Chameleon". This type of film has recently appeared and in a short period of time has gained universal confidence and popularity. The peculiarity of the athermal film "Chameleon" is in its composition. In production, magnetron sputtering of several layers of metals is used. This gives this coating unique properties. The film "Chameleon" automatically changes its color depending on the brightness of the sun's rays. It also protects not only from ultraviolet radiation, but also from infrared. Thanks to this, the temperature in the cabin is always within the normal range.

To stick a do-it-yourself tint film of this type, we need the following list of tools:

  • building hair dryer;
  • stationery knife;
  • rubber spatula;
  • shampoo;
  • spray;
  • clean rag.

Film sticker procedure:

It is important to remember: the tint film is glued from the inside of the car. For convenience, the side windows can be removed. This will allow for better and more convenient toning them. Also, each driver, in addition to how to glue the tint, needs to know the laws governing this process. In order not to be fined, it is advisable to check the selected tinting material for light transmission. To do this, you can use a special device.

Do-it-yourself car window tinting should take place indoors with good lighting.

By independently tinting a car, and not trusting this matter to others, you can be sure of the quality and reliability of car pasting, because everything was done by hand in the proper conditions.

Benefits of film tinting

Previously, it was not possible to use silicone or athermal film for car tinting, so a special solution was used to coat the glass. As a rule, it had to be applied special equipment and it took a lot of time and resources. Also, after spraying on the windshield, rear or side windows, it was impossible to restore them in the future, which also hit the pocket hard when replacing all automotive glass. But today do-it-yourself tinting is possible thanks to universal materials. Whether it is a silicone or athermal film, you can peel it off yourself at any time, and at the same time your glass will remain safe and sound.

Tinting as a way to protect against UV

As mentioned above, tinting a car is not only an image, but also an excellent thermoregulation of the interior. There are hot days when even a powerful car air conditioner cannot handle high temperatures. In this case, using an athermal film, you can create comfortable conditions inside the car.

Sticking a film on a car with your own hands at home means saving the family budget and doing quality work.

Tinting is an affordable tuning tool that significantly transforms a car. And in our "latitudes" the appearance of your favorite car is of great importance. There are many offers on the market for such a popular service - sticking a tint film. But what more options, the more difficult it is to find a contractor who can guarantee quality. Therefore, it is quite logical to do everything thoroughly and with your own hands. And about the nuances of how to tint a car yourself and glue the film correctly, we will tell below.

Law and punishment for installing inappropriate tinting

In order not to have to remove only the pasted tint at the very first traffic police post, one should take into account allowable norms. According to the law, or rather GOST 5727-88, the windshield must transmit at least 75% of the light, and the front side windows - 70%. A dark stripe is allowed on the front, but not more than 14 cm from the top edge. There are no restrictions on the rear windows. The only thing is that dull tinting (less than 5%) obliges the installation of rear-view mirrors on both sides (that is, it is possible on all modern cars).

The choice of the percentage of transmission of light tinting depends on your goals and current regulations.

The penalty for non-compliance with these norms is not very large - 500 rubles. Since the spring of 2015, "frightening" information about the new law has been circulating on the Internet, which provides for a threefold increase in the amount of the fine (with a repeated 5000 rubles). At the beginning of autumn 2016, the law had not been adopted.

Thanks to the installers, the service for installing reusable tinting has become quite popular. Like, if caught with a removable film, then nothing will happen. But reality shows otherwise. In 95% of cases, the court takes the side of the traffic police, arguing that at the time the vehicle was stopped, the offense had already taken place, therefore, you may well be fined.

The choice of the best film for self-gluing auto glass

For optimal choice many parameters must be taken into account. The first is the type of film. They are painted and metallized (there are others, but inexperienced pasters should not mess with them). The second option is preferable, as it is more durable and protects well from sunlight, but the price is twice as high. It makes sense for "training" to take a high-quality dyed film. Its resource will last for 2-3 years, after which (from the top of the experience gained) you will decide which one to glue for the second time.

You should not take the cheapest options (most often Chinese) to learn how to tint. During installation, you will encounter additional difficulties: creases, bad glue and rapid wear. With such materials and without experience, it is unlikely to be able to complete the pasting process to the end.

  • SunTek - strong adhesive, high strength and thermal insulation at the level. For beginners, the Standard series is suitable.
    An example of one of the varieties of SunTek film
  • Llumar has been on the market for a long time, so manufacturing process worked out and the quality is excellent. The ATR 10 LUX series has a bronze tint. The price is above average.
    Is one of the top manufacturers
  • Sun-gard - colored films of this manufacturer have a five-year warranty due to the protective silicone coating.
    Most Sun-gard films are six-layer.
  • SunControl has a "chip" in UV protection. The company is Indian, but the quality does not suffer from this.
    SunControl pleases with an abundance of tint colors
  • SolarGard uses expensive metals (copper, aluminum, titanium) in the production of its films. This gives an excellent variety of shades not available to other manufacturers (white, blue, bright green and many others).
    SolarGard factories are located in the USA

Preparation and tools to tint the car

We figured out the laws, we chose the film - now you can get to work. Immediately you need to choose a suitable place for the upcoming manipulations. The street is not very suitable for this. Dust, insects, wind and direct sunlight are the main list of unacceptable conditions. A spacious garage or box is ideal.

So that the execution process does not stop “at the most interesting place”, prepare all the tools and materials in advance. You will need:

  1. The tint film itself required quantity. Decide how many glasses you will tint, and calculate the area. Consider a margin of 10-20% for fitting.
  2. Water sprayer in any manifestation. Needed for spraying soapy water.
  3. Liquid soap or Fairy, clean water.
  4. Something sharp and cutting: an ordinary blade, a stationery knife, a scalpel.
  5. Lint-free wipes.
  6. Distillation - a special spatula with which you will remove the solution from under the film. Should be firm, but without sharp edges. Usually they are plastic and some manufacturers put them complete with a film. If unlucky, then look for them in hardware or automotive stores, and they are also sure to be in stores for outdoor advertising masters.
  7. Special scraper for cleaning windows (optional, greatly facilitates the cleaning process).
  8. Electric building hair dryer with temperature control (we need 550 degrees Celsius).

How to tint car side windows: lessons from the pros

  1. It is better to start with them. The small size and absence of bends will allow you to get comfortable with the technology at home with a minimum of waste and nerves. We begin work with the preparation of a soap solution. To tint all the windows of a car (if not a bus, of course) you will need 2.5–5 liters of liquid, depending on the efficiency of your spray gun. The recipe is simple: add 5-10 drops of liquid soap or Fairy detergent to 1 liter of water. The latter option is preferable, since it cleans the glass surface well from grease.
  2. Let's move on to the cutting process. We need to prepare film templates according to the shape of each side glass. Or rather, front and rear, on the one hand. On the other side, you can simply copy from the finished layout. We start up a freshly prepared solution. Apply it to the outer surface of the glass.
    Don't use a spray bottle that's too big, it's hard to work with.
  3. Depending on the size of the roll and the configuration of the window, decide how best to cut - along or across. Now unfold and attach the roll to the glass with a margin. Don't try to make the perfect pattern right away.
    Measure the pattern with a margin

    Leave a few extra inches around the edges. The film will adhere to a wet surface and this will greatly simplify the procedure.

    The film lay firmly on the base
  4. Immediately carefully cut off the straight parts. Then lower the film a few centimeters down and slightly open the window. This will make it much easier to cut the curved part of the glass. If there is uncut film on the corners, remove it.

    Observe the direction of smoothing Observe the direction of smoothing Observe the direction of smoothing

  5. In the process of cutting, be careful and careful. It is easy to damage the paint or plastic parts of the car with a sharp tool. When the footage of the tinting film is close, then you can make a template from a regular film, and make a final version in conditions convenient for you (for example, on a table, where everything is in great order).
  6. If your car has straight windows, then you are lucky and you can skip the next step (until you reach the rear window). On foreign cars side windows often with a curve. In this case, you need to give the film the desired shape. Work algorithm:
  7. Now cleaning. Apply the solution to inner part window and clean it with a special scraper (from the list of materials).
    During cleaning, inspect the entire surface, you need it to be as clean as possible.

    If there are any small particles that are not washed off, remove them with a regular blade. Just don't scratch dry.

    Small particles are easier to expel "wet"
  8. Now it's time for the actual gluing. Peel off the backing film to expose the adhesive. Just do not remove completely, limit yourself to half, starting from the top. After that, moisten the adhesive part with plenty of soapy water. This procedure is best done with a partner (one holds, the other wets). If you are working alone, then apply the film to the outside of the window.

    Step 3 Step 2 Step 1

  9. Slightly open the window and try to align the film along the top edge, already on the inside and with glue to the glass. Do not spare the soapy solution, it neutralizes the effect of the glue and gives time for adjustment. Level from the center to the sides. Use a scraper or forcing to get rid of air and water between the film and glass. 100% adhesion of the tint to the surface is required.

    Step 3 Step 2 Step 1

  10. Let's move on to the second half. Raise (close) the glass and dampen the lower part liberally with soapy water.
    Wet the glass without being stingy

    Delete completely protective film, not forgetting that the adhesive part also needs to be wetted.

    The adhesive layer also requires moisture.
  11. Now the hardest part. It is necessary to fill the film in the gap between the glass, door card and sealant. By the way, before starting work, check that your plastic spatula can penetrate 1–2 cm into this gap in thickness.
    Expel bubbles and air while the film is wet.

    Without such a tool, it will not be possible to successfully complete the tinting. The main task is the same - to drive out all the air and water.

    It is important that the forcing is not sharp, and it needs to be handled without fanaticism!

According to the principle of operation, pasting the rear window does not differ from the curved side window. But larger size and inaccessibility significantly complicates the process (if the station wagon, of course, is easier).

Working on bugs: bubbles, creases, stripes and dots

It's not always possible to do everything perfectly the first time. Even professionals are not immune from mistakes. Some can be fixed, but not all. The main "stumbling blocks":

  1. Air bubbles. It is better to deal with them at the initial stage, until the film has dried. After completing the work, be sure to slowly inspect all the windows. If you find bubbles, then get rid of them with distillation. When the film "grabs", you will have to pre-soften it with a hair dryer or clothes steamer (you can use an iron with a steam generator).
  2. Speaking of hair dryer. Without it, you will only be able to tint cars with straight windows. It will not work to straighten the folds without heating (550 degrees).
  3. Creases must be avoided at any stage. Why? After them there is a noticeable strip. Chinese films are especially “sinful” with such shortcomings; it is very easy for a beginner to spoil the material.
  4. If you notice crooked sticking in the first few hours, then you can still save the material. The excess can simply be cut off. And the shortage can be compensated by moving the film, perhaps there is a reserve on the reverse side. Warm up and separate the tint from the window. Re-spray the solution and glue as needed.
  5. The ingress of dirt under the film is not allowed. Pay close attention to this during the washing phase.
  6. It takes at least a day for the glue to dry completely. It is better to leave the car in the garage for this time. But if you need to go, then do not open the windows and do not heat the interior with a stove or air conditioning.
  7. For pasting all side windows, 2 square meters is enough. m of film. Together with the rear already 3 meters.

Sticking a tint film is a rather complicated process, but everyone can do it. The key to success is careful preparation and selection the right material. Also eliminate the rush during work. Even a small speck can then be an eyesore, and the pleasure from the work done will be incomplete.

Tinted car glass is a change in its transparency and the ability to set the glass shade of the desired color.

There are two ways to tint:

  • factory - in the manufacture of glass at the factory with high temperature a layer of metallized tinting spraying is applied to its surface. Such a coating cannot be removed independently, you can only replace the glass with a new and transparent one;
  • by gluing a film - a tint film is glued to a clean glass surface. You can do it yourself or turn to specialists.

What kind of film to choose?

ATTENTION! Found a completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption! Don't believe? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also did not believe until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

Films are ordinary and metallized. Ordinary films are cheap, but short-lived. The spraying of the tint layer is applied to the film with ordinary paint, which burns out quickly enough, and the film itself is made of material Low quality. Often low quality glue is used, which dries out rather quickly, and as a result of this, the film is taken in bubbles or simply begins to flake off. Metallized films are high quality, durable and cost much more than conventional window film. They differ from the usual ones by the presence of a metallized layer on top of the painted one, which contributes to the durability of the tinting layer and good thermal insulation (the film does not allow the temperature from the outside to influence the interior temperature), protection from sunlight.

Films are varying degrees transparency: 5%, 15%, 20%, 35% and 50%.

According to the rules traffic windshield tinting must have a light transmission of at least 75%, side front must have an indicator of at least 70%, in relation to rear windows there are no restrictions.

When choosing the degree of transparency, it is worth considering the possibility that the car will have to be driven at night: the lower the degree of transparency, the worse review at night. There may also be problems with traveling abroad, since each country has its own regulations regarding tinting. These are perhaps the only disadvantages of car window tinting.

Benefits of car tinting:

  • safety in the event of an accident - the glass does not scatter into fragments throughout the cabin on impact, injuring passengers, but remains hanging on the film;
  • the appearance of the car is changing dramatically - it looks more solid;
  • the metallized coating of the tint film reflects 99% of ultraviolet rays, preventing the interior from burning out and overheating in the summer;
  • it is more comfortable to be in a tinted car, since tinting hides from the street what is inside the car and protects things left in the cabin from prying eyes, thereby reducing their interest to street thieves.

How to apply tint on a car

Tools needed for glass tinting

To glue the tint film, you will need the following tools:

  • a very sharp and thin blade (you can take a clerical knife, etc.);
  • a spray bottle into which a soapy solution (spray gun) will be poured;
  • 20-30% soap solution;
  • rubber spatula (distillation);
  • industrial dryer;
  • clean warm water;
  • a clean suede washcloth or paper towels.

There are two ways to stick. Which one to choose? It is most convenient to glue on removed glass(and the result will be better), but the removal / installation of glass takes a long time. If it is necessary to speed up the process of gluing the tinting, this can be done without removing the glass. In any case, work should be carried out at room temperature.

The first option - tinting with the removal of glass

We are filming side glass from the car, thoroughly wash it on both sides, wipe it dry with a special suede wash cloth. If the glass is flat, put it with the outer side on a pre-prepared area with a soft surface and proceed to the pattern of the film.

We spray a soap solution from the spray gun onto the glass (at its temperature of about 30 degrees) and put the film on it with a protective sticker down so that it lies evenly on the entire surface. The film must be cut along the glass contour with a small margin.

Then the film is removed, and the soapy solution is sprayed onto the glass again. We separate the protective part from the film (you can first dip your fingers in a soapy solution so that it does not stick and the glue does not deteriorate) and spray the solution well on the adhesive part of the film. Then we put it on the glass.

As long as there is a soap solution between the glass and the film, the film can be easily moved over the glass: in this way we align it with the glass, take a soft distillation for water and, carefully, starting from the center, begin to expel all the soap solution.

This process it must be done carefully and slowly so that bubbles do not form under the film and it does not deform. After all the water has been removed from under the film and it has sat in its place, cut off the excess pieces along the contour of the glass with a sharp blade. We set the glass aside and let it stand for about 30 minutes so that the glue fully sets and the film adheres firmly to the glass.

If the glass has a curved shape, the process of cutting and gluing the film is somewhat different. The same method applies to the rear and front windows. Putting curved glass inside down and spray it with soapy water.

We apply a film to it with a protective sticker already to ourselves, and not to the glass, cut it off along the edges with a small margin. Then we take a distillation for water and remove moisture only at the place of the bend, that is, we draw a strip at the place of the bend by distillation. Then, with a hair dryer, we slightly warm the film in other places so that it lies completely on the glass. Thermal work with a film should be carried out at an air temperature from a hair dryer of no more than 40 degrees.

This is done so that the film repeats the shape of the curved glass. You need to heat very carefully. At excessive heat the film stretches, is strongly deformed and looks ugly, respectively, it is no longer suitable for sticking on glass. On the back and front glass we do the same, only we expel water in the shape of the letter “H” - two stripes on the sides and one in the center, or in the form of the letter “T” - depending on the shape of the glass. And in the same way we heat it up to give the film the shape of glass. After the tint is adjusted, turn the glass over and repeat the process described for flat glass above.

The second option is tinting without removing the glass

The option without removing the glasses is similar to the first one, but has small nuances. To tint the side windows, we remove the seals, we make the pattern in the same way as the first option, but regardless of the shape of the glass (smooth or curved), we make the adjustment from the outside of the glass. The film itself must be glued from the inside.

We do the lower edge of the tinting with maximum stock so that when the window is lowered, it does not cling to the seal. The film for the rear and front windows is pre-cut along the outer part, and then, when the shape of the film is adjusted to the curves of the glass, a lamp is installed in the car interior and trimmed along the inner contour.

It will be more convenient to glue the tinting on the front and rear windows from the passenger compartment with the help of a partner - you need to hold it together. If the rear glass has large folds, then the film must be divided into several parts, otherwise it simply will not be possible to give it the necessary shape. You need to glue the overlap, and make the joints on the threads of the rear window heating. It is necessary to expel water from under the film on the rear window very carefully so as not to damage the heating threads. After sticking the tint on the rear window, it is recommended not to use glass heating for 2-3 days to avoid film deformation, or to turn on the heating at a low thread temperature.

Do-it-yourself glass for your vehicle is necessary and mandatory. In this case, the reasons may be different.

Someone wants to take care of their health, and someone wants to improve the appearance of the car. We offer you to find out why motorists want to tint car windows.

Most Common Causes

According to the well-known Russian Internet portal specializing in automotive topics, most often car owners want to get the following from tinting:

  1. Thanks to tinting, you can reduce the heating of the cabin by 60% even in hot summer!
  2. Thanks to tinted car windows, up to 99% of the UV rays that can cause damage can be blocked. harmful effect. As a result, you can protect yourself from skin cancer.
  3. In the event of a side collision between two vehicles, tinting helps to keep the glass that has broken into small pieces. As a result, the driver can protect himself from cuts.
  4. Thanks to tinting, you can fight reflections from snow, sunlight, headlights of oncoming vehicles.
  5. Toning is good protection personal space. No one will be able to see the salon!
  6. Tinting allows as well plastic parts which could be damaged by direct sunlight.

The effect can be achieved thanks to a special film that can be glued to the car glass. For making this special material it is customary to use a transparent polyester film on which paint can be applied, as well as a metal composition with special properties.

The main misconception is that the tint film is dark in color, therefore. First of all, you have the option to choose a film with a low degree of obscuration. In addition, the film can transmit visible light, although all reflections will be reflected.

The film must be attached to the inside of the glass, as in this case it will be protected from any damage.

Do you want to install tint? In this case, you must find out where the film can be installed and where not. In the Russian Federation, glass tinting according to GOST provides that it is necessary to tint the front car windows only using a film with a transmittance that will be below 85%.

How to tone yourself

First you need, because it should be smooth, without chips and any coatings. If cellular or radio antennas are glued to the car glass, they must either be bypassed or removed.

Most difficult stage It's tinted car rear window. This process can be hampered by brake lights, as well as blowing. If you understand that there will be a lot of work, you can refuse tinting, or turn to professionals.

In order to correctly apply the tinted film, experts can carefully pull out the car glass, and then work on a special desktop, which can be covered with glass or smooth linoleum. If you don't want to do this, you can put tissue paper on the car glass to draw all the outlines. Then you will need to cut out the pattern, which should have clear boundaries. The cut pattern must be carefully transferred to the tint film. As a result, you will be able to cut the film to the shape of your car glass. Now it needs to be glued on!

What do you need for window tinting? Without a doubt, you must be patient and careful. What will you also need?

  1. Toning film. one roll standard sizes can be enough for four side car windows.
  2. Rubber spatula. It is important to note that a small plastic scraper is included with the tint film. It can also be used, but in this case there will be micro-scratches on the glass.
  3. Stationery knife. It should be borne in mind that there is a special knife included with the tint film, but it can quickly become blunt and begin to tear the film.
  4. Detergent for washing car windows, clean warm water, which should be taken from the tap.
  5. Dry rag. It is very important that the cloth is lint-free. In this case, you can be sure that there are no micro-scratches after work.
  6. Spray.

It is advisable that two people carry out the tinting of car windows, since it will be difficult for one person to complete the entire amount of work. The entire procedure must be carried out in a dust-free room. If window tinting is to be carried out outdoors, the weather must be calm.

It is important to note that you can use a hair dryer (construction, installation or household) in order to dry tinted car windows in a short period of time. Thanks to the hair dryer, it will be possible to significantly reduce the duration of the process!

glass tinting technology

First you need to remove the seals. Be sure to wash all the car windows that you will apply the window tint to. When washing glass, use a special detergent. Try to clean the corners thoroughly.

Smooth out the film until the transparent part falls off. Then remove the transparent film that has had time to dry. Now you can trim all the edges that stick out. Be sure to run a sharp knife along the edge of the car glass, but proceed slowly.

If you have a hair dryer, you can dry the car glass around the entire perimeter. If you do not have a hair dryer, close the door, and then start working on the next glass.

It is desirable that seals are not inserted into the car doors and did not open windows that were tinted.

Another method of tinting windows with your own hands

Glasses can be tinted differently. You can prepare a twenty percent solution of rosin in a special caustic soda. Rosin must be dissolved until the color of the liquid becomes dark yellow. Then filter the prepared product. Add a small amount of ferric chloride solution or ferrous sulfate. A precipitate of iron resinate should fall out, which will be red. Separate the precipitate, wash and dry well. It can be dissolved in gasoline.

You must apply the prepared solution to the car glass with a spray bottle. It is very important that the glass is clean, degrease it in a soap and soda solution.

Be sure to rinse the glass and wait for it to dry. Then it must be placed in the oven for five to ten minutes, but the temperature should reach six hundred degrees. A film will form on the car glass Brown high strength. If desired, you can make the film a different color if you use a different chloride. By adjusting the concentration of rosin, as well as metal salts, you can change the saturation.

But the driver should not get carried away with tinted windows. The application of a tint film on the glass is necessary, taking into account the current state standards. That's why allowable tint glass stipulates that the windshield of the car must pass at least 75% of the light, and the rest of the glass at least 70%.

It should also be remembered that after tinting there should not be a distortion of the driver's color perception. For strips located along the top of the windshield, the light transmission capacity is not standardized by law.
