In Russia, orders for new Cayennes will open on January 15, 2018, and prices will be announced at the same time. But the first cars will be brought only in May. At the start of sales there will be only petrol versions Cayenne, Cayenne S and top Turbo, writes Autoreview. Diesel versions will appear later.
The most notable changes in terms of the appearance of the new Porsche Cayenne occurred with the stern: she received new narrow lights, exactly repeating the style of the latest Porsche 911 and Panamera. From the front, it will not be so easy to identify the new Cayenne without putting the predecessor next to it for comparison. The changes affected the architecture of the optics of the head light and the radiator grille, but in general, the "muzzle" has changed quite conservatively.
And the proportions of the body itself remained almost unchanged: the size of the wheelbase remained unchanged, although the car itself stretched out in length by more than six centimeters. This increase made it possible to make the interior more spacious. According to the manufacturer, the amount of usable luggage space has increased by 15% compared to its predecessor.
At the same time, the new Cayenne not only became larger, but also lost weight. The weight of the car in the basic version is now 1985 kg - 55 kg less than its predecessor. This was achieved by increasing the proportion of aluminum in the body structure (all exterior panels are aluminum) and using the so-called lithium-polymer battery (as on the 911 GT3), which is a good 10 kg lighter than the classic counterpart.
The third generation Cayenne is based on the MLB Evo platform with double wishbones at the front and multi-link at the rear, and all design features borrowed from the Panamera. Thus, the Cayenne has air suspension, adaptive dampers, active stabilizers powered by a separate 48-volt network, and a fully controlled chassis. At all-wheel drive transmission There are four preset driving modes - "Mud", "Gravel", "Sand" and "Rocks".
An unusual feature of the novelty is brake discs with a "mirror" tungsten carbide coating. According to the manufacturer, this solution is used for the first time in the world. An innovative coating improves braking performance, and the pads with it do not “dust” as much.
The engine range is also from Panamera. At the start of sales, the Cayenne will be released in two versions, with gasoline engines, A diesel engines, hybrid and top-end turbo version will appear later. Basic version will become "Cayenne" with a 3-liter V6 with a capacity of 340 hp. with a torque of 450 Nm (power and torque increased by 40 hp and 50 Nm, respectively). This version has noticeably improved acceleration dynamics to hundreds - 6.2 seconds instead of 7.7 seconds.
Next comes the S version with a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo with 440 Horse power at 550 Nm of torque (the motor has become more powerful by 20 hp). Hundred Cayenne S is gaining in 5.2 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor), and with the optional Sport Chrono package - in 4.9 seconds. The engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic, which shifts gears a little faster than before.
As standard, the Cayenne is equipped with eight airbags, heated front seats, LED optics, dual-zone climate control, digital dashboard and multimedia with support for Apple CarPlay. In Germany, the base Cayenne will cost 74,828 euros, while the S version starts at 91,964 euros.
As for the Turbo version, it differs from the simple "Cayennes" in the two-row light graphics of the fully LED front optics with the Porsche Dynamic Light System. The powerful Cayenne has its own front bumper cladding and distinctive body-coloured fender flares, inside which are placed 21-inch Turbo wheels with tires of different sizes 285/40 in front and 315/35 in the rear. Behind the novelty can be distinguished by the twin exhaust pipes.
The new Porsche Cayenne Turbo has become 30 hp more powerful and 20 Nm more traction previous model. Under the hood of the "turban" appeared a 4-liter V8 engine already familiar to us from the Panamera with two turbines in the collapse of the block with a capacity of 550 hp. (770 Nm). Combined with the 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic, this allows the car to hit 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono package), while reaching a top speed of 286 km/h.
Porsche claims to have significantly improved the precision of the Cayenne Turbo. A whole range of measures played into the hands of this: lowering the center of gravity due to the displacement of the engine closer to the ground, the integration of a new adaptive air suspension with three air chambers on each air strut, or, for example, the presence of a Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) body roll suppression system, powered by 48- voltage onboard network.
However, the main highlight of the Cayenne Turbo version is located at the stern. The car received an adaptive roof spoiler, which increases downforce on rear axle and in the Airbrake position reduces braking distances at high speeds. The company claims that with intensive braking from a speed of 250 km / h, the braking distance of the Cayenne Turbo is reduced by two meters. No one in the SUV class has yet applied such a solution.
