Presenting the car, the head of the Volkswagen Group, Matthias Müller, did not hide his optimism: “Fully autonomous electric vehicles will make our cities cleaner and more pleasant to live in. Just press a button and you're good to go."

We have a lot of new projects, a lot of new cars, but one of the main news is still Sedric. This is a new concept of transport of the future. We are moving in the right direction and are working to ensure that such machines become mass-produced. It's not easy, but it's extremely important. This is a paradigm shift.
- What are your impressions of the meeting with the President of Russia?
This is my first meeting with Vladimir Putin, and quite a short one - about an hour, and this is a very positive experience. The President was open and extremely concentrated on the topic of the conversation. Putin is well versed in the situation in the automotive industry - as well as Minister Denis Manturov. We discussed several projects and the Russian economy, including the gas industry. Vladimir Putin is very friendly to automotive industry and in particular to Volkswagen Group. Let's see how the relationship develops further.
- What are the specific solutions, if any?
There are no concrete decisions, we only discussed possible areas of cooperation - and, as it seemed to me, the meeting was held on an optimistic note. I hope that in the future this will be reflected in specific projects.

Hopefully, maybe next year. It would be nice to meet at least once a year.

The auto show, which was held for the first time in international status, was visited by 68 thousand people, and the number of cars in Switzerland after that increased from 33 to 39 thousand units. In 1926, the Palais des Expositions exhibition complex was built to host a car show.
In 1934 Geneva international car show became one of the main events of its kind in the world and by 1939 already two hundred companies participated in the exhibition. All expositions did not fit in the exhibition complex, so some of them were placed in temporary halls. The first car dealership after the Second World War opened its doors in 1947, but despite difficult times again proved to be successful - 305 exhibits were placed on an area of 9602 square meters. This was followed by years of steady growth in the popularity of the event: in 1948, the exhibition gathered 200 thousand visitors, in 1960 - 300 thousand visitors, and in 1967 - over half a million spectators.
In 1981, one of the largest and most modern exhibition complexes in Europe at that time, the Geneva Palexpo, was built near the airport. The first event in the new exhibition complex was International Exhibition commercial vehicles in January 1982, followed by the International Motor Show in March.
In 2000, for the first time in history, more than 700,000 people visited the Geneva Motor Show, and an absolute record of 747,700 visitors was set in 2005. Switzerland is not one of the world leaders in the automotive industry, so the Geneva Motor Show stands out against the backdrop of motor shows in Detroit, Frankfurt and Paris with a more international character.
