The AMG brand was created over 45 years ago by two engineers, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in the village of Grossapach. The beginning of the brand dates back to the 60s. In 1967 they open the AMG engineering office. The location of the company was an old mill in Burgstall. After a short period of time, the demand for engines begins to grow, which are being refined and increased in power. Their purchasers are various racing teams.

The victory at the 24-hour race in Spa is the first major milestone in the history of the company. The victory in its own class, as well as the second place in the overall standings - all this was ensured by an AMG Mercedes equipped with a 300 SEL 6.8 engine.
