The Trend&Fun equipment is purely urban in nature and very weakly expressed. off-road qualities. This version is available only in front-wheel drive.

Sport&Style is designed for fans of sporty driving style, and in addition to modified suspension characteristics and a powerful engine, it is equipped with 17-inch wheels.

The off-road version of Truck&Field is equipped with a special "offroad" mode that includes an electronic lock center differentials, modified damper settings, hill descent assistant and hill start from a standstill. Permanent four-wheel drive provides the car with excellent traction on any surface, and electronic system control system instantly detects wheel slip and distributes the torque, due to which the probability of the car stalling into a skid tends to zero.

The range of engines supplied to the domestic market includes turbo engines with a volume of 1.4 to 2.0 liters and a power of 122 to 210 hp

Depending on the configuration of the car, a manual or 8-speed automatic transmission is installed on it.

The history of the Volkswagen Tiguan

For the first time this car was presented in Frankfurt in 2007. A restyling of this model was in 2011. It should be noted that this all-wheel drive five-seater crossover. At the same time, the basis for the creation of the car was the platform of the legendary car - Volkswagen Golf.

In the process of the latest restyling work, the manufacturers not only “corrected” the appearance of this handsome man, but also worked hard on the safety of the car, and in particular on its technical stuffing.

The appearance of the new Volkswagen Tiguan

The updated version is very similar to its predecessor. However, you can see the reasonable practicality of the updated car (this is especially clearly seen in the Track & Field version). And one more step Volkswagen has become an external combination of styles of all produced cars. Those. the Tiguan features features from several other models. But, in general, it looks like an older brother - Touareg.

The car shows style, design and, of course, swiftness and vigor. Volkswagen specialists have identified fog lights and two-piece headlights with LED running lights. Also, the car has updated thresholds, chrome roof rails and alloy wheels. The whole look of the car with its spaced arches speaks of freedom of movement. When choosing this model, remember that various versions will give Volkswagen Tiguan individuality. (Track&Field is off-road, while Sport&Style is more sporty).

Interior decoration, interior and technical stuffing

The new version of the crossover received a multifunctional steering wheel, the layout of the buttons on the front console has changed a bit. The engine start button also changed its place and is located to the left of the gearshift knob.

All devices and control buttons are in the direct line of sight of the driver. An excellent view from the driver's seat is complemented by the minimum values dead zones located behind the front pillars of the car.

When you sit inside the Volkswagen Tiguan, you immediately feel the quality (like all the "Germans"). Perfectly fitted panels, pleasant to the touch plastics and thoughtfulness make you just fall in love with this car. Pleasant illumination, perfectly readable instruments - will give comfort to any driver. However, there are also minor complaints: driver's seat the front part is slightly recessed, which is not very convenient for tall people. However, power seats can help solve this shortcoming.

Pleased with a wide range of steering column adjustments, so that the driver, having spent a little time, can get comfortable. For rear passengers, they also provided the possibility of increasing legroom: the seat moves forward / backward by 16 centimeters. Concerning luggage compartment, then from almost 500 liters you can easily make 1500 by simply adding rear seats. It is also worth noting that the loading height of the machine is optimal, and such operations do not create problems.

In a relationship technical fillings Volkswagen Tiguan will delight its customers with light and rain sensors, dual-zone climate control, an 8-speaker car radio, adaptive cruise control and a panoramic roof.

The manufacturer paid no less attention to security systems. Let's start with the "smart" headlights, which will not blind the driver passing in the opposite direction, and will also illuminate the road in the direction of the turn (when the steering wheel is turned, the headlights also turn).

The car is equipped with a driver fatigue monitoring system. In the process of driving, she independently analyzes the behavior behind the wheel and, in the presence of a slowdown in reactions, strongly recommends stopping. Also pleasantly surprised by the assistance system when driving in the lane. This system monitors road markings and informs the driver about the lane crossing (without the turn signal on, the system recognizes "unauthorized movement" and the car will return to its original lane). It should only be noted that most of these options are not included in the standard package, and accordingly, if necessary, their installation will be required. additional funds.

Engines, gearboxes and driving behavior

Here is where to roam when choosing. Volkswagen Tiguan is offered with a line gasoline engines 1.4 liter TSI, power 122 and 150 Horse power. As for the smallest in the lineup, a strat/stop fuel economy system is installed on the car with it. Further the lineup 2.0 TSI introduced with 170 and 200 hp And the line is completed by diesel units with a volume of 2.0 and a capacity of 140 “horses”. Here, of course, everyone must decide for himself.

I would like to note that all engines pull perfectly from the bottom. And already the dynamics maximum speed to the best of everyone's ability. As for gearboxes, the mechanics are placed only on 1.4 TSI. All other engines are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

And now about driving performance. On the pavement, the car feels great: it is easy to handle, holds the road well and swallows holes. Off-road, you can connect a lot of “assistants”, however, the suspension travel is clearly not enough on some bumps, and you can easily “break through” it. With regard to cross-country ability - far in the mud on a Volkswagen Tiguan is better do not climb, but he will calmly endure a trip to the dacha along a washed-out road. As for the torque distribution system, it turns on only when the front wheels start to slip, transferring part of the effort to rear axle.

Disadvantages and problems of car operation

Despite the famous pedantry of German designers and engineers, judging by the reviews of the owners, the car still has some minor drawbacks:

There is no illumination of the hole for the ignition key. Quite an unpleasant trifle, which can be attributed to the forgetfulness of the creators of the car.

Poor visibility and small side mirrors. There are no special problems with the left mirror - with small adjustments, there are practically no dead zones left in it, but things are much worse with the right mirror. There is no rounding on the mirror, so you will have to tinker with its settings for a long time.

Hard closing of the passenger doors, due to which the doors have to be slammed in order for the door closing system to work.

Incomprehensible work automatic transmission. Before setting the mark at 100 km / h, the machine does not even try to turn on the increased sixth gear. Switching occurs only when accelerating to 120 km / h, which leads to increased fuel consumption.

The original design of the trunk - the right compartment is not covered with plastic, respectively, the car body and its insides are visible along with the wires.

The small size of the driver's armrest box does not allow to place everything necessary for the driver's needs in it. But the size of the armrest box is offset by the abundance of drawers located under the seats and a large glove compartment.

The mysterious mode of operation of the headlight washer. The algorithm of work is quite complicated and it takes a lot of time to get used to it.

Poor sound insulation of the wheel arches, - when driving on gravel, or sandy road in the cabin there is a strong knock from gravel and sand.

The problem with the driver's floor mats and the gas pedal when operating in winter. Ice begins to form on the mat under the gas pedal, which reduces the travel of the gas pedal. This is due to insufficient insulation of the bottom of the car, which is why frost forms both under the rug and on top.

In principle, all the identified shortcomings are not critical for the operation of the car. You can get used to the operation of the engine and gearbox over time, and the problem of tight closing of the doors can be solved by finalizing or installing other seals.

Advantages of the car

rich basic equipment, - even as standard, the vehicle is equipped with an ABC system, a exchange rate stability and tire pressure monitoring system.

The presence of a full-fledged multimedia center with a large color active LCD display. Storage of maps of the area for the navigator and multimedia files is possible on a hard disk with a maximum capacity of 30 GB.

A modern navigation system that independently remembers up to five hundred intermediate points when moving along a route for which there are no navigation maps.

Full protection of the underbody and engine of the car, which includes protection of the engine from gravel

Large trunk volume, which can also carry up to 650 kg of cargo. In addition to the trunk, all versions of the car are equipped with roof rails, which allow you to carry up to 100 kg of additional cargo on the roof.

Excellent quality interior trim.

Excellent vehicle handling. Even in the front-wheel drive version, the crossover perfectly obeys the steering wheel and is controlled in one go. At the same time, in sharp turns body roll is minimal, which indicates excellent suspension settings and thoughtful design of the car.

Low fuel consumption in vehicles with diesel engines.

Attractive appearance and excellent ergonomics of the car interior.

High clearance allows you to feel confident both in winter and in moderate off-road conditions.

Results, equipment and prices Volkswagen Tiguan 2013

Summing up, I would like to note that the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan model year there is every chance to compete with their fellow crossovers. This the car will fit energetic and modern people who like compact machines, but hatchbacks are no longer satisfied. The price of this car is in the range of amounts from 800,000 to 1,350,000 rubles.

In general, the car turned out to be very attractive, and even despite the higher price compared to its main competitors, the new Tiguan will find a large number of fans. Despite relatively minor flaws, it is an excellent example of a stylish and modern urban crossover.

Many expected that compact model will be molded in the likeness of the older brother "Tuareg" - lowering the row in transfer case, differential locks. But the Tiguan was nevertheless destined for the role of an SUV - it was created on the basis of the fifth generation Golf, from which it was able to adopt excellent road habits. And even though it is contraindicated to go on a trophy-raid on it, but due to a solid ground clearance in 200 mm and short overhangs, he turned out to be quite a worthy fighter with Russian roads, which can often be called directions. Moreover, from the very beginning it was possible to choose the modification "Track and Field", that is, "track and field", with a pursed lip front bumper, due to which the angle of entry increased from 18 to 28 degrees.

He settled in the showrooms official dealers towards the end of 2008 - in the midst of the global crisis. At the same time, from the very beginning of sales, the Tiguan had a Russian VIN number - at first it was assembled in Kaluga using the SKD (that is, screwdriver) assembly technology, and since 2010 - already in a full cycle, including welding body parts and painting (CKD). However, the very next year he charmed more than seven thousand Russian motorists, and after restyling, he won over 30 thousand customers, pulling himself up to fourth place in the popularity rating. Only the democratic Duster that appeared later prevented him from climbing the pedestal. But Volkswagen was still able to outdo the Toyota RAV4, the founder of modern class SUVs, dearly loved by our compatriots.

For all six years the price basic version The Tiguana hovered around a million rubles, and after restyling, when a 122-horsepower front-wheel drive modification appeared, the first line of the price list even fell below the mark of 900 thousand.

Body and its electrical equipment

Under reliable protection

There are almost no complaints about the car body: galvanization reliably protects it from chips, and a very practical dark gray “skirt” made of unpainted plastic around the entire perimeter allows owners to protect the car from body repair with contact parking. This rule also works in case of an accident at low speeds, which is good news - even if you have all possible insurance policies, this saves a lot of time.

Due to the specific aerodynamics of a two-volume body, the tailgate attracts all the dirt raised by the car from the road; and after three or four years, its lower edge may still succumb to corrosion - this place should be carefully inspected before buying. Best Option combating such a nuisance will be an extra layer of anticorrosive from a spray can and regular monitoring of a possible accumulation of moisture.

An unfortunate assembly oversight can be recognized as the noise-insulating mat of the hood that sags after a year of operation - the fastening clips do not withstand the load and alternately come out of their seats. During the warranty period, the dealer changes the clips and even the entire casing, but the subsequent owners will have to solve this problem on their own. Take note: the clip code is 1H5 863 849 A01C.

Also note that in winter period snow from shoes can regularly get into the bowels of the floor accelerator pedal, and at one fine moment the pedal can simply break off - due to ice formation. Therefore, it is better to shake off your feet before each trip.

Transmission

DSG - no!

The basic 6-speed manual gearbox is not only extremely selective in its work, but also very reliable. Some owners complain of a somewhat difficult shift from 1st to 2nd gear in cold weather. We advise you to simply wait until the oil warms up after 5-10 minutes of driving - then the problem will be solved by itself. The trouble-free "mechanics" was installed only on two modifications with 1.4 liter turbo engines - with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

With two-liter engines - gasoline and diesel - a pair is formed by a non-alternative 6-speed "automatic", quickly shifting gears and not annoying the owners with breakdowns. And here robotic box DSG gear first appeared in conjunction with a 150-horsepower 1.4TSI engine in 2012 - this is a 6-speed unit that does not work “dry”, but in an “oil bath”. It is more reliable than the 7-speed DSG with “dry” clutches that the Golfs were equipped with, however, it is not without sin: after 70 thousand mileage, it begins to have problems associated with the ingress of clutch wear products into the common oil circuit.

Engines

Paying for technology

The base engine of the Tiguan in 2008 in Russia was a 150-horsepower "twin-charger" - a progressive turbocharged engine and parallel working mechanical compressor. This decision allowed the engineers to “bury” the turbo pit in the zone low speed at the start of the movement. In the European specification, this engine had 160 hp, but we sold a version derated to 150 hp. Excellent traction reserve, enviable efficiency and excellent acceleration dynamics in fact turned into possible problems with a chain and a cylinder-piston group - due to the design features of the compressor, accelerated wear pistons in the second and (or) third cylinders.

After restyling, the Germans solved the problem with the CPG by making a number of changes to the pistons (for example, steel reinforcing inserts were added), then the extendable chain and the damper prone to self-destruction did not disappear. In general, we strongly do not recommend this modification to you. And if you are still tempted by the “twin-charger”, then be sure to check the condition of the chain and damper, as well as cylinder-piston group: these works could be carried out during the warranty period by the dealer - and more than once! By the way, subject to timely maintenance, even the subsequent owner has the right to count on the support of the plant in the form of a "kulants" - a program that allows you to compensate for a significant part of the cost of repairing expensive units. In addition, it will not be superfluous to change the oil in this engine more often (at least once every 10,000 km) and fill the tank with 98th gasoline.

The 122-horsepower 1.4TSI with a conventional turbocharger turned out to be much less whimsical, however, this unit is not immune to problems with the timing chain. Avoiding trouble is actually not that difficult if you follow one simple rule - never put the car into gear on a slope. And if it's unusual for you to leave the car on only one parking brake, then keep in mind: it is necessary to tuck the gear in the parking lot only after the car is on the handbrake in the “neutral” position with the brake pedal fully depressed. The only way!

Much more common in secondary market is a two-liter gasoline turbo engine, which, depending on the degree of forcing, develops 170 or 200 hp. With. This engine, in addition to increased oil appetite, was not marked by any special troubles. You can only complain about the leakage of the position sensor seal camshaft: replacing the gasket, as well as the sensor itself, does not eliminate the problem, but only pushes it back for a short time. However, Volkswagen engineers nevertheless heeded the pleas of the tiguan growers and, during restyling, changed the design of the assembly, successfully solving this defect.

And yet, oddly enough, the 140-horsepower turbodiesel turned out to be the most problem-free (in Europe, by the way, there are modifications with a capacity of 110 and 170 forces, but in Russia they simply do not exist on the secondary market). The motor carries remarkably cold start in cold weather, digests well domestic fuel(of course, you should refuel only at network gas stations of decent companies) and pleases with efficiency. By by and large, there is only one minus for a diesel engine - rather noisy operation and noticeable vibration.

Chassis and steering

Firmware and more firmware

One of the significant problems of the Tiguan should be recognized as a kind of work anti-lock braking system brakes: when driving on slippery surfaces, ABS excessively brakes the wheels, while the subsequent exit to a more tenacious surface, the restoration of full deceleration of the car occurs with a dangerous delay.

It is gratifying that the plant did not ignore the complaints of the owners - the engineers wrote new program ABS controls. From the end of January, any owner of a restyled Tiguan, regardless of whether the deadline has expired or not warranty service, can contact the nearest dealer for this simple and short operation, which will be carried out absolutely free of charge. Perhaps in soon owners of pre-styling cars will also receive the new firmware, to which dealers offer this service for a thousand rubles.

Among the sore problems, one can note a creak and even a crunch at low temperatures of the silent blocks of the front levers and bushings of the stabilizers. Moreover, in the latter case, replacing the bushings alone may not be enough - an upgrade of the entire assembly will be required.

Sometimes already at 30,000 km they can give up and wheel bearings, and it’s not worth starting the problem: if they buzz for 2-3 thousand km, then the case may end in jamming. In fairness, it should be noted that this defect is not characteristic of all Tiguans - many owners tend to take the rumble emitted by studded tires for the imminent death of bearings.

Buying?

Well, we still found out that not every Tiguan with mileage is an interesting offer. An expired warranty forces a potential buyer to be much more careful when choosing power unit, and therefore it is better to bypass the 1.4-liter engine with 150 hp. With. We see the diesel modification as the most justified choice: according to the reviews of the masters, there are already instances on the market with a range of under 250 thousand kilometers, which do not even think of showing signs of imminent death. However, we will not dissuade you from buying Tiguans with two-liter gasoline turbo engines - these are also quite reliable cars.

Volkswagen Tiguan is compact crossover which has been in production since 2007. Recently, the 2nd generation Tiguan came out, and in the secondary market there are many offers for the sale of the 1st generation Tiguan. Whether it is worth buying a supported Volkswagen Tiguan, we will now find out. Tiguans appeared in Russia in mid-2008, cars were assembled in Kaluga. If at first these cars were assembled using the SKD SKD technology, then after 2010, cars were already produced in Kaluga according to the full cycle - CKD, where the bodies were cooked and painted.

The build quality is the same that the Germans assembled, that ours. Of course, there were a couple of nuances, for example, the side doors were poorly adjusted, and the tailgate was crookedly planted, but after a few months they learned to do everything right. So, the oldest cars had to be recalled for service in order to replace some of the bolts and put them on sealant. If this is not done, then the driveshaft could become loose.

Salon

The interior is quite high quality, the materials look almost like new after many years of operation, of course everything depends on the previous owner. But it happens that even the door trim on the go can start to creak. On Tiguans manufactured from 2008 to 2009, the wiring had to be repaired under warranty: the wire that comes from the antifreeze temperature sensor broke, so the fan worked constantly. There is also a harness that goes to the engine control unit, it is poorly fixed, so it could burn, which would make the car immovable.

There were also cases that the headlights went out on their own on cars manufactured before 2011. This situation was corrected in 2013. The problem was in the fuse or switching unit, which is located under the hood. But the body is well protected from corrosion, the only weak point is on the tailgate, rust may appear on the lower edge.

Over time, purely cosmetic flaws appear, some you won’t even see right away, for example, the soundproofing sheet of the hood can sag after a few years, and if you wash the engine carelessly, this sheet will come off completely. IN dealer centers they changed the clip-holders, or completely replaced the soundproofing casing. Appearance can spoil the radiator grill, which is peeling, door linings, paint peeling off the side mirrors and bumpers. By the way, if chips appear, they should be painted over as soon as possible, because the remaining paint may begin to peel off.

More traditionally weak points door locks and a stove motor are considered, which is already starting to make a lot of noise after 3 years of car operation. A new such motor costs 130 euros, but for the first time you can simply lubricate the bearing.

Tiguan has an RNS radio navigation system released by by Continental, lasts a long time and does not fail, therefore, if it happens that it cannot be controlled using the buttons on the steering wheel, then this means that you need to change the contacts on the steering column for 120 euros, because because of them the signal may stop working and airbag.

Motors

The very first cars Russian assembly were equipped with a 1.4-liter engine with a capacity of 150 liters. With. There are 25% of cars on the market with this engine. The motor is economical, but pulls well, the car accelerates quite quickly. But not everything is so good with reliability. The liquid intercooler gets dirty over time. So, if you give a high load, then piston group will wear out faster, the bridges between the rings can burn out, the pistons can collapse, especially the 2nd and 3rd. The overhaul of this motor is quite expensive - 2500 euros, so it is better to look for the motor somewhere for disassembly.

In 2011, there was a restyling and a 1.4 TSI engine was installed in Tiguanas - this is an upgraded version of the same engine. The power remained the same, only the pistons were strengthened, so that the motor became more reliable.

But some problems with the motor still remained. For example, high-pressure fuel pumps and injectors are sensitive to fuel, if you fill in low-quality fuel at least once, you will have to replace it with a new one. fuel pump high pressure to pay 260 euros, and for nozzles - 150 euros each. After 100,000 km. run, a pump may start to flow, which costs 350 euros. Approximately 60,000 can stretch the chain in the timing drive. The chain itself costs 70 euros plus labor costs. Therefore, in order not to have to overhaul the motor, it is better to do it in advance, as soon as rattling or rattling appears, immediately check the condition of the chain and change it. But definitely after 100,000 km. she needs to be changed.

In general, all these problems are typical for Tiguan gasoline engines. The 1.4 TSI supercharged engine with a power of 122 liters. s., which appeared in 2011, the chain is also not very strong. It must also be remembered that it is undesirable to leave a Tiguan with any gasoline engine on a hill without a handbrake, starting from a pusher is also a big risk, because the chain can jump over the teeth, especially when it is on the way. In general, you need to be careful with the chain.

By the way, in a 1.4 TSI twin-charged engine, which has cast iron block cylinders, aluminum head and phase shifter on intake shaft, it is necessary to fill in the 98th gasoline. Most of all cars with a 2.0 TSI engine, after a while they start to eat oil, this is more noticeable on cars produced before restyling - 0.7 liters per 1000 km. run. There are several reasons - the seal of the camshaft position sensor starts to snot. After restyling, this problem was fixed.

But the real reason for oil consumption is oil scraper piston rings and poor valve efficiency in the crankcase ventilation system. On cars manufactured after 2011, the design of valves, rings, seals was improved, the program in the ECU was improved, after all these innovations, oil consumption decreased by 2 times, but still remained.

But there are also diesel engines, they are installed on 20% of cars, these engines cause less problems for their owners - they don’t eat oil, there is no chain. The only thing, from driving around the city at low speed and when driving for short distances, can after about 70,000 km. require intervention of the EGR valve, a new one costs 150 euros.

You also need to monitor the quality of diesel fuel, here the high-pressure fuel pump is already more expensive - 1000 euros. But in general, the motor is reliable, but sometimes it happens that after 100,000 km. mileage require replacement of the injector seals, they are inexpensive - 15 euros per set, but you also need to add the cost of work here. There are still cases that after 180,000 km. damper during intake tract starts to wedge, because the plastic gear wears out by this run in the mechanism of its drive. To fix this, you will have to spend 150 euros.

If a situation occurs where diesel car after 150,000 km. run does not start very well, then you should immediately check the pressure reducing and delivery valves of the fuel system. And MOT should be done more than once every 15,000, as the officials recommend, but once every 10,000 km. In general, it is better to buy a Tiguan with a diesel engine, because it is much more reliable than gasoline engines.

Gearboxes

Gearboxes can be different - the DQ200 preselective with 2 dry clutches is a robotic gearbox, it is installed on cars with front-wheel drive and a 1.4 TSI engine, whose power is 150 hp. With. In Europe, this box can also be found on Tiguans with a 1.8 TSI engine. On cars manufactured after 2011, this box has already begun to break down less, and after 2012 it had a serious upgrade and there were almost no problems with it.

After 2011, both 6 and 7-speed DQ250 and DQ500 robots appeared, they were installed on all-wheel drive vehicles with 1.4 and 2.0 engines. The weak point in these boxes is the mechatronic hydraulic control unit. A new such unit is not cheap - more than 2,000 euros, therefore, in order for it to serve longer, it is necessary every 80,000 km. change the oil in the box. Here comes the ATF DSG.

The most popular transmission is the 6-speed automatic, it costs about 60% of cars. This box is Aisin Warner TF-60/61SN series, jointly developed in 2003 by Japanese and German engineers. For front-wheel drive Tiguans, this box is 09G, and for all-wheel drive - 09M. There are no problems with the box, you just need to monitor the purity of the oil and its quality. Officially, the oil in the box does not need to be changed, but it is better to do this every 80,000 km., Then the hydraulic control unit will last longer. If freezes or jerks appear during switching, then this clear sign that it's time to change the oil in the box. Also, do not forget to monitor the radiator in the gearbox on diesel cars, because sometimes it happens that leaks appear.

But the most reliable is considered to be a 6-speed manual gearbox, and no matter what engine it works with. The only thing that can happen to her is oil seals to leak after about 80,000 km. The clutch is enough for about 140,000 km., new kit will cost about 400 euros. It happens that on the same run the clarity disappears during switching, then you need to check the switching mechanism, it is possible that it has worn out, its replacement will cost 200 euros. On all-wheel drive vehicles we must not forget to change the oil in the Haldex coupling, then the pump will last longer and the four-wheel drive will be in working order. An oil change should be done every 60,000 km.

Suspension and chassis

The electric power steering on cars before restyling could simply turn off while driving. Therefore, engineers in 2009 reflashed the control unit of the electric booster. But despite this, there were often cases when the steering assembly was changed on cars manufactured before 2011 still under warranty after 30,000 km.

It’s better not to drive off-road on a Tiguan, despite the short overhangs, because the suspension is not particularly designed for this purpose. Approximately 100,000 km. stabilizer bushings fail, but before that, they can just creak for a long time. Replacement bushings with stabilizer will cost 140 euros. Approximately 70,000 km. fail:

  • wheel bearings, which are assembled with a hub, cost 130 euros each;
  • support bearings on the front pillars, which cost 50 euros each;
  • silent blocks of front levers (30 euros each).

But the shock absorbers can already last longer - about 120,000 km. The front ones cost about 150 euros, and the rear ones - 130 euros. The arms last as long as the shock absorbers, in general, sorting out the rear suspension will cost around 700 euros, but earlier than 100,000 km. there shouldn't be any problems with the rear multi-link.
And the front suspension with MacPherson struts still causes trouble a little earlier, but up to 70,000 km. suspension will be fine.

This generation of Tiguan uses the PQ35 platform, which is also installed on these cars:

  • Skoda Yeti;
  • Volkswagen Golf;
  • Octavia (A5);
  • Audi A3.

Many details in the suspension are taken from the Passat. But in general, a car needs attention if it's not new anymore, and the costs are quite high, especially if something breaks down. In terms of reliability, the Tiguan is about the same as the Nissan Qashqai, which is 100,000 rubles cheaper. The price in the secondary market does not fall so fast. It is better to look for a diesel car with an automatic or mechanical box gear after restyling. The price will not be lower than 1,000,000 rubles for a 3-year-old car.

The well-known German quality is sometimes also upsetting. And, according to the reviews of many or even the majority, the purchase of a Volkswagen Tiguan, not only with mileage, but even from the factory, became such a disappointment. People were waiting for something eternal from the German manufacturer, but it turned out the opposite. Therefore, in this article, all significant weaknesses and shortcomings will be announced. German Volkswagen Tiguan, which every future buyer of this car should know about.

Weaknesses of the 1st generation Volkswagen Tiguan

  • Engine;
  • Valve train chain;
  • "Robot";

Now more….

One of the most serious vulnerabilities of the Tiguan is, oddly enough, the engine, namely the 1.4 liter volume. If, for example, there are fewer complaints about other engines (in particular, gasoline 2.0 and diesel), then there are serious complaints about 1.4 TSI. The fact is that the 1.4 liter engine has serious design flaws in terms of calculating the reliability of the pistons. Therefore, primarily due to the high thermal load, the piston group quickly collapses. There were cases that these problems arose even when the car was under warranty and this malfunction was eliminated, but the majority of Tiguan car owners were faced with the destruction of the pistons after the end warranty period. As a result, the owners had to spend a lot of money on repairs. Therefore, before buying this car, you should know about it and do it. correct conclusions. Separately, we can say about diesel engines. most weak side these engines have a so-called particulate filter. The point is that it quickly clogs with frequent city driving and does not have time to regenerate (self-clean).

It is equally important to know about one more serious weakness of the Tiguan, which can bring serious financial losses to the owners of these cars. This is a quick failure of the timing chain. And this applies to both 1.4 liters. engine, and two-liter. In general, if you remember, there was a whole epic about timing chains. The manufacturer at first refused to admit that the chains were defective, but in the end, due to mass discontent, he had to do this and carry out an analysis and a set of measures to prevent such defects. This was explained by the fact that the supplied chains were produced on equipment with heavy wear. From what the resulting defective edges of the chains, with the engine running, caused rapid wear chains in general. Later this problem I decided, but there are still cars on which the mileage is low, and the chain is still factory. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to this nuance before buying, since bent engine valves due to chain stretching and failure are not a pleasant pleasure.

Among all the troubles of Tiguan`a, one more thing can be distinguished - this is a robotic DSG box. Her resource at correct operation and maintenance does not exceed, as a rule, an average of 100 thousand km. and in general the DSG robot is not famous for its durability on other makes and models of cars. Therefore, it is worth knowing about this, especially for the future buyer of the Volkswagen Tiguan. Therefore, the ideal option would be - this is the choice of a Tiguan without a DSG box. Any other, but not DSG.

Electric power steering.

Electric power steering is one of the diseases of the Volkswagen Tiguan. The EUR on these vehicles brought a lot of problems to their owners. On many cars, there have been cases of failure of the electric power steering, both on the spot and on the move. This was mostly due to a software glitch. In the event of a failure of the EUR in motion, flashing the unit did not help, and the EUR had to be completely changed. Basically, this malfunction made itself felt during the warranty period of the car, but the future owner simply needs to know about the said weak point.

Outboard bearing cardan shaft.

The propeller shaft outboard bearing also worried Tiguan owners. This is not to say that this is a massive problem, but when buying a car, you should pay attention to it, since its cost and replacement can significantly hit the pocket of the future owner. It is also possible to indirectly determine bearing wear when driving along a characteristic hum, but it is better to check its condition at a service station.

The main disadvantages of the Volkswagen Tiguan 2007-2016 release

  1. Weak operation of the stove in winter;
  2. Small trunk volume for a crossover;
  3. There is no possibility of full lifting of the wipers;
  4. Long warm-up of the 1.4 liter engine. in winter;
  5. Weak paintwork;
  6. Small side mirrors;
  7. The impossibility of replacing the “dokatka” with a full-size wheel;
  8. Ergonomic miscalculations.

Conclusion.

Based on the foregoing, we can conclude that for such a cost of this model it was possible to install parts, components and assemblies there more reliably than they were actually installed. It should be understood before buying that the failure of any element of the machine, the purchase and replacement will cost the owner a very round sum.

P.S. Dear owners of these cars! We kindly ask you to indicate the noticed shortcomings of the Tiguan that you identified during operation.

- one of the most popular crossovers in the aftermarket, this car is great for all occasions. For example, for girls drivers, a small family, as well as for trips for mushrooms or a picnic. There should also be no problems with the subsequent sale, since the Tiguan is inexpensive. people's car, which means that the demand for it is great. Like most used cars, the Volkswagen Tiguan has a number of drawbacks, and we'll talk about them today.

A bit of history:

The debut of the Volkswagen Tiguan took place in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car is built on a platform "", common with " AudiQ3" And "". The sonorous name is formed from a combination of the words " Tiger (Tiger)" And " iguana". Tiguan sales began in 2008, the car is visually very reminiscent of " Volkswagen Touareg". In March 2011, a restyling was carried out, after which the car was presented to the public at the Geneva auto show. After the update, the car did not lose its corporate identity and remained very similar to its older brother. During the restyling, the lighting equipment, the shape of the bumpers were corrected, the interior was slightly updated. special attention deserves the new multifunctional steering wheel from the Golf model and information display on the updated dashboard. The microclimate control unit in the cabin has changed, and the engine start button has migrated to the central tunnel. In the technical part, three new motors were added. Most of the Tiguans sold in the CIS were assembled in Russia at a plant in Kaluga, at the beginning, production was in the form of a SKD assembly, and later, it was transferred to a full cycle, including stamping, welding and painting of body parts. The main sales markets for the Volkswagen Tiguan are Europe, the USA, China, Brazil, Australia and the CIS.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Volkswagen Tiguan with mileage.

Only turbocharged power units are installed on the Volkswagen Tiguan - gasoline 1.4 (122, 150 hp), 2.0 (170 and 200 hp) and diesel 2.0 (140 hp). gasoline engine 1.4 was repeatedly awarded the title of engine of the year, this engine has excellent performance - in terms of dynamics, environmental friendliness and economy. But the owners have a lot of questions about its reliability. Due to the high temperature load, the pistons suffer very much, in this case, the owners are divided into two types - those who had this problem during the warranty period, and those whose pistons burned out after the warranty ended and had to make expensive repairs at your own expense. On pre-restyled versions of this power unit, the timing chain drive. The metal chain and its tensioner are not known for their durability, the chain can begin to stretch after 40,000 km. Signals of the need for replacement will serve unstable turns, a ringing knock from under the hood and a diesel engine rumble.

Motor 2.0, regardless of power, creates much less problems for its owners, but hits the pocket high flow fuel (in the city up to 15 liters per hundred). Of the main problems - stretching the timing chain, failure of the chain tensioner, increased consumption oil leak in the engine cooling system. As for diesel engines, then traditionally, for cars of European manufacturers, they sin with a fuel system that is sensitive to the quality of diesel fuel. Therefore, in order to avoid costly repairs, you should only refuel at proven gas stations. Most diesel Tiguats are equipped with particulate filter DPF, and permanent operation cars in urban mode, the filter quickly becomes clogged. Often, there are problems with the gas recirculation system. Diesel engines can be equipped with both a timing belt drive and a chain drive; according to the regulations, the belt needs to be changed every 90,000 km, but many owners recommend doing this a little earlier, once every 70-80 thousand km. Also, it is worth noting more expensive service compared to petrol units. It is better to refuse to buy a car imported from Europe, since such a car will have a mileage of at least 150,000 km, which means that it will soon need an expensive repair of most components.

Transmission

Volkswagen Tiguan is equipped with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, also, this car is equipped with a robotic DSG transmission. A lot has already been said about the reliability of DSG, speaking specifically on the example of this car, then according to statistics, mechatronics and clutch, with careful operation, live 70-90 thousand km, then expensive repairs are required. The automatic transmission is perhaps the most reliable among the transmissions presented, on some instances, over time, jerks or shocks appear during gear changes, this problem is solved by flashing the control unit. The mechanics are also quite reliable, the only thing that adds inconvenience here is the fuzzy gear shifting and clutch replacement every 60-80 thousand km.

The all-wheel drive system is implemented using a clutch " Haldex 4". This system has proven itself well on most crossovers, both European and Japanese made. In order not to be left without rear wheel drive, the clutch oil and filter should be changed every 60,000 km.

Salon

The Volkswagen Tiguan interior is made of quality materials, due to the fact that all the plastic is soft, crickets in the cabin are a rarity. All niches and drawers, of which there are quite a lot in the cabin, are sheathed soft material. In the most expensive configuration, there is an option for high-quality leather upholstery. The creators also worked on soundproofing, it is very good level. Among the shortcomings, one can note the weak operation of the stove, with low temperatures, failure of the fan control unit, also, the power steering may fail due to an error in software.

Driving performance Volkswagen Tiguan with mileage

Volkswagen Tiguan equipped with independent suspension, MacPherson is installed in front, a multi-link is in the back. crossover suspension, normal operation, raises no objections. On many machines, with a run of 100,000 km, the outboard bearing cardan shaft, its replacement is quite expensive (changes complete with a cardan shaft, the cost is about 300 USD). In winter, even at low mileage, when driving on uneven roads, you can hear how the silent blocks of the front levers are fastened together, but after warming up, the squeaks go away. Most often, you have to change the stabilizer struts and bushings, every 30-50 thousand km. Salent blocks, thrust and wheel bearings rarely take more than 70,000 km, shock absorbers and rear suspension arms, on average, go 100,000 km. front brake pads they go 30-40 thousand km, disks - 70-80 thousand km, rear pads - 60,000 km, disks - 1,000,000 km.

Outcome:

- a universal crossover, in the city, you feel confident in it thanks to a good fit, visibility and good handling. On the track, the car holds the road well, and the engine thrust is enough for confident maneuvers. The car copes with a small ford or snowdrifts without problems, but the car is not designed for serious off-road. If we talk about reliability, up to 150,000 km, with proper operation, there should not be global problems, but still, it is better to abandon a car with a mileage of more than 100,000 km, as well as cars with DSG.

Advantages:

  • Good dynamics.
  • Reliable transmission.
  • Good quality interior materials.
  • Quality build.
  • Balanced suspension.

Flaws:

  • Problems with the metal timing chain.
  • Problems with DSG robotic transmission.
  • in winter, diesel engine 2.0 and petrol 1.4 do not warm up well.
