Low consumption - high costs: choose a used Volkswagen Tiguan. Bad owner reviews about the Volkswagen Tiguan I What is the reliable suspension of the Volkswagen Tiguan

In 2007, the engineers of the German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen based on the hatchback Volkswagen Golf was designed in principle new car– VW Tiguan. Thanks to the impeccable reputation of the progenitor, the SUV won universal recognition in a short period of time. True, at the end of 2014, Tiguan lost the first two positions on the podium to its competitors Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. Already in 2015, the manufacturer announces the start of production of the second generation of the SUV. The exclusive novelty was able to cheer up the market segment.

Today, the car is assembled not only in Germany, but also in Russia, in the city of Kaluga. German company increased its power potential in the domestic car market, thereby fueling additional interest in the SUV from Russian buyer. Before purchase expensive car it is desirable to get acquainted not only with his operational properties but also indicators of reliability and durability. Next, we determine what the actual engine resource for the Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4, 2.0 is.

Range of motors

The Volkswagen Tiguan engine range is represented by turbocharged power units with a working volume of 1.4 and 2.0 liters. Engine 1.4 TSI power 122 and 150 hp also set to . Gasoline engines are excellent technical specifications and enough great resource. As practice shows, power plants from the VW Tiguan line are capable of traveling 300 or more thousand km. The 2.0 TSI motor is made from cast iron block cylinders and aluminum head.

There are several modifications of it, differing in their nominal power - 170 and 200 horsepower. The buyer can also choose from a diesel analogue. cardinal structural differences can't be found between engines. The difference lies in the fact that the 170-horsepower version is powered by a BorgWarner Ko3 turbine, while a Ko4 is installed on a more powerful counterpart.

Some design features VW Tiguan engines:

  • Compression ratio 10.5;
  • Number of valves - 16;
  • The presence of DOHC / belt;
  • Ecological class corresponding to Euro-5 standards.

The first generation Tiguan was equipped with a 6-speed hydromechanical automatic, and the next generation acquired a 7-speed DSG robot. The transmission of an SUV is known not only for its high-quality assembly, but also for its silent operation. At the stage of acceleration of the car, the operation of the engine is muffled, and at cruise speed, only the noise emitted by the tires.

How many "runs" the engine on the Volkswagen Tiguan

In order to understand what the actual engine resource for the Volkswagen Tiguan is, you need to understand them in more detail. design feature. The bulk of the owners of the modification with a 1.4-liter engine complain about the miscalculations of the designers in the margin of safety of the piston group. In particular, the piston itself, which, due to excessive loads and high temperatures fails prematurely. First problems with it constructive element power unit may occur at the turn of 100 thousand km. Also at this stage of the run, it is advisable to monitor the condition of the timing chain. The 2.0 TDI turbodiesel has a belt instead of a chain. The condition of the timing drive must be monitored very carefully. Breaking this element leads to backfire- the valves are bent. As you know, the repair and maintenance of German SUVs is not cheap.

When passing the first 150,000 km, there is increased consumption oil needs to be changed oil scraper rings or valves. Diesel 2.0-liter engines win in terms of actual resource at gasoline analogues. But, it is worth saying that in some cases problems with high-pressure fuel pumps cannot be avoided. The reason for this is fuel. Low quality. Professionals recommend constantly monitoring the condition of the pusher fuel pump, it is best to complex diagnostics every 20-30 thousand km.

The result is as follows: a 1.4-liter gasoline engine is able to cover about 300 thousand kilometers, subject to proper and regular maintenance. Diesel analogue before the first overhaul travels over 350,000 km.

Owner reviews about the resource of the power unit

Both turbo engines are of high quality and reliable, they are distinguished by high speed characteristics, but are extremely demanding on the quality of refueling fuel and engine oil are sensitive to coolant. All three components must be closely monitored, otherwise you will have to invest in expensive auto repairs. Now let's move on to the reviews. Volkswagen owners Tiguan, who empirically determined the duration of trouble-free operation of the main power unit of a car.

Engine 1.4

  1. Mikhail, Voronezh. Was dissatisfied with the acquisition of a representative of the German car industry with a 1.4-liter engine. The motor does not cope with its tasks at all, the Volkswagen Golf with the same engine was several times more cheerful. Plus, the questionable build quality and a very ridiculous resource. I have a Tiguan 2010 and for all this time I have invested in repairs an amount equivalent to the cost of a car. From constant detonations on the pistons, the edges under the rings break. A very demanding car for fuel quality.
  2. Maxim, Yalta. SUV as a whole was satisfied, but there is one big BUT. The 1.4 TSI engine is frankly too weak and unreliable. For such a colossus, a minimum volume of 1.6 liters and not 150 hp is needed. In the morning, the car has to be started like our AvtoVAZ. I refuel at Lukoil AI-95, as recommended by the manufacturer. The chain was installed just awful, it flew off without even passing 80 thousand km. The motor is constantly stalled at traffic lights, at any moment it could start to troit. In general, I sold this car and began to sleep peacefully.
  3. Stanislav, Vladivostok. I have been driving a Volkswagen Tiguan since 2009. When I approached the mark of 110 thousand kilometers, problems began with the chain. Quickly replaced, no more damage. For many years now, driving an SUV - only positive impressions. For those who like to press the trigger from the start, this car is definitely not suitable. With such a mass and power, the chain flies at once.
  4. Egor, Moscow. Been driving since 2015. I wound up 70 thousand km during this time. The thermostat was replaced under warranty, and a crack formed in the intake manifold. There are no problems with starting during frosts, the suspension is of the highest level. The resource of the 1.4 TSI engine is too dependent on the quality of gasoline. Any unsuccessful refueling can turn into trouble. Too late, the secret was revealed to me - the aluminum block and plasma spraying "live" with our fuel for 100 thousand km.

The power unit of 1.4 liters is not bad in its characteristics. However, it is too dependent on the quality of the fuel being refueled, the regularity of maintenance, and many others. external factors. Not the most successful development of German engineers, as evidenced by the reviews of former and current owners of the Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4.

Engine 2.0

  1. Nikolay. Urengoy. Since 2008, I have been operating a German SUV with diesel engine. When passing 170,000 km, I decided to replace the timing belt with rollers and pump. Now the car starts even better even at -30. Note to drivers: a diesel engine outperforms a gasoline counterpart in terms of resource under the same operating conditions and an equal working volume.
  2. Sergey. Moscow. During the selection of VW Tiguan paid great attention engine quality. After reviewing a large number of information, came to the conclusion that the resource of a 2.0-liter engine is much higher than that of less voluminous counterparts. In practice, everything was confirmed - the chain does not give any signals over the first 200 thousand km. The main thing is to refuel at proven gas stations and use certified oil.
  3. Alexey, St. Petersburg. I have a 2017 car, diesel 2.0. Before buying, I talked with competent people about the reliability of Tiguan engines. People said that the chain resource is about 300 thousand km, that is, almost to the first capital. The turbine passes even more, everything is done on high level. Much depends on the quality of the consumables themselves and scheduled maintenance auto.
  4. Matthew. Cheboksary. Ask an experienced VW Tiguan owner which modification is more reliable, he will answer you - a two-liter one. I myself have personally seen a car that has passed more than 300 thousand. The resource also depends on the driving style, the first 200 thousand km generally pass without any problems with adequate driving.

Many car owners agreed that the 2-liter power point is more reliable and resistant to adverse operating conditions. Numerous studies also confirm the fact that in practice the resource of the Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 engine is more than 300 thousand kilometers.

Volkswagen Tiguan - bright representative compact crossover class off-road ambitions. The car is built on the Volkswagen Golf platform. Tiguan got its name by combining the German words Tiger - tiger and Leguan - iguana lizard. Tiguan production began in 2007 on Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg. Later assembly Russian crossovers was established in Kaluga. In 2011, the Tiguan underwent a restyling, during which the exterior was retouched and the engine range was expanded.

Engines

The pre-styling VW Tiguan was equipped with gasoline engines with a mechanical supercharger and turbocharging 1.4 TSI (150 hp) and 2.0 TSI (170 hp). A 2.0 TDI turbodiesel (140 hp) was also available. After restyling in the line gasoline units appeared: 1.4 TSI without a mechanical supercharger (122 hp) and 2.0 TSI boosted to 200 hp. All engines have a timing chain drive, with the exception of diesel - it uses toothed belt. The engines are mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

1.4 TSI (150 hp) engines sometimes delivered serious problems to their owners. Reason - heavy loads on the piston group at low speeds. As a result, there have been cases of spillage piston rings, burnout of the piston baffles and destruction of the pistons themselves (with a run of more than 60 - 100 thousand km). After the use of stronger materials in 2013 and a change in the engine management program, there are no problems so far. Engine repair in case of such troubles will require about 100 - 150 thousand rubles.

Unstable operation of the motor with a run of more than 20 - 30 thousand km can be caused by an extended chain. But sometimes the signs of a problem are not so obvious, and on a segment of 100-200 thousand kilometers, individual owners are faced with a chain jump. Replacing the timing drive at the officials will cost 40 - 50 thousand rubles, in third-party services - about 15 - 20 thousand rubles (along with work). Sometimes the oil pump drive sprocket also wears out.

Problems with turbochargers can arise due to loosening of the pump wheel fastening nut, oiling of the turbine cavity or destruction of the blower shaft (from 40,000 rubles per turbine). Cases are rare, but you should not forget about a possible problem.

1.4 TSI engines (122 hp) without a mechanical supercharger with only one turbocharger are less “bloated”, and therefore less loaded, so there are practically no problems with them.

The 2.0 TSI is characterized by "fogging" of the detachable connection of the air intake pipe going to the turbine (with a run of more than 30 - 60 thousand km). This phenomenon is not a malfunction. The reason for the appearance of oil is oil mist that enters the intake tract through the ventilation system. crankcase gases. This effect is enhanced with long work engine at idle.

There are malfunctions and the fuel pump high pressure(10-15 thousand rubles). Sometimes there are problems with the wedged intake manifold flaps, or the engine mount starts to knock.

On cars with 2.0 TSI, assembled before 2015, after 60-100 thousand km, there were problems with chain drive Timing. In addition, cases of jamming are known balance shafts. The meshes in the oil channels (inside the shafts) are clogged, and no lubricant is supplied to the shafts. With a sad outcome, repairs will require from 50 to 100 thousand rubles. After 100-150 thousand km, the oil separator may fail (about 6,000 rubles), which leads to oil leakage through the seals and from under the timing cover.

Diesel 2.0 TDI with injection system common rail demanding on fuel quality. But when using quality fuel it will easily pass more than 200-300 thousand km. The timing of the 2-liter turbodiesel is driven by a toothed belt, which is recommended to be changed every 90,000 km. Problems with starting a warm engine may occur after 100,000 km due to the failure of the pressure reducing or delivery valves. There is also a problem with the throttle valve due to the wear of its plastic drive (eats the gear). New throttle assembly will cost 8 - 9 thousand rubles for the original and 3 - 4 thousand rubles for the analogue. Replacement work costs about 2 - 3 thousand rubles. The TDI motor fell under a recall campaign to refine the fuel supply pipe to the engine.

A number of problems common to all types of engines have also been noticed. For example, the system pump liquid cooling may sound (squeak or whistle) already in the first ten thousand kilometers. New pump costs about 13-15 thousand rubles. Often, with a run of more than 20 - 40 thousand km in cold weather, there is a problem with the "disappearance" of antifreeze. The reason is the leaking tee of the lower pipe at the outlet of the radiator, less often in the leakage of the radiator at the junction of plastic with metal.

With a mileage of more than 100,000 km, problems may arise with the stable operation of the engine due to oxidation of the contacts at the point of insulation failure of the Gateway device that separates the CAN buses.

There are also problems with the starter due to the retractor, more often in winter. Failure injection pump can provoke a "tired" pump in fuel tank. Sometimes on new cars the fuel level sensor “sticks”, later the readings are restored, and the problem does not recur.

Transmission

Problems with the 6-speed "mechanics" 0A6 have not yet been identified. With the "automatic" Aisin, things are somewhat different. Often complaints appear already with a run of more than 20 - 40 thousand km. Owners note jerks or jerks when shifting gears. Usually everything works out little blood- flashing the box ECU. If shocks continue to occur during acceleration, then it may be necessary to replace the automatic transmission valve block (40 - 50 thousand rubles). However, the owners are in no hurry to visit the service, and the box continues to work, occasionally kicking when switching between 2nd and 3rd gear. The appearance of vibrations in 6th gear will prompt the need to replace the torque converter. It should be noted that real cases of overhaul of the machine are found only after 250-300 thousand km.

Contrary to the worst expectations, it does not pester with the notorious problems and the 7-speed DSG robot.

The cause of deaf blows when driving through bumps is often the gearbox cushion - the rubber band knocks on the metal. The sound is similar to the knock of the stabilizer bushings. Finding its source is not easy. At external examination support, it does not cause suspicion.

Per connection rear wheels meets the Haldex IV generation coupling. The first problems may arise with a run of more than 50 - 100 thousand km due to a creaking outboard bearing of the propeller shaft or failure of the electric booster pump. The outboard bearing (8 - 10 thousand rubles) is recommended to be changed only as an assembly with cardan shaft(45 - 55 thousand rubles). repair kit for the clutch pump will cost 10,000 rubles. The 5th generation clutch does not allow refurbishment. You have to change the clutch motor (13,000 rubles). To prolong the life of the clutch, it is recommended to update working fluid every 30-40 thousand km.

Chassis

Surrendered first in suspension thrust bearings(600 - 800 rubles apiece), which begin to creak when the wheels are turned or rattle on bumps (with a run of more than 30 - 60 thousand km). After 40 - 70 thousand km, the silent blocks of the front levers can creak, more often with the onset of cold weather. Dealers replace them under warranty. Suspension arms are rented to 100 - 150 thousand km.

Shock absorbers run more than 100 - 120 thousand km. Wheel bearings will last at least 60 - 80 thousand km. The front ones will cost 6 - 7 thousand rubles, and the rear ones will cost 9 - 10 thousand rubles. Replacement work costs about 1 thousand rubles.

The bushings of the front anti-roll bar wear out with a run of more than 100 - 140 thousand km. They change only when assembled with a stabilizer - 5-6 thousand rubles.

front brake pads go about 30 - 70 thousand km, rear 40 - 90 thousand km.

On cars manufactured before 2012, the steering wheel is heavy and the red EUR malfunction indicator lights up after starting the engine and trying to move off. More often the disease occurs in winter. IN similar situation switch off the ignition and start the engine again. The malfunction is treated by flashing the electric power steering unit. If the failure occurs while driving, then the new software will not help in this case - the EUR will have to be replaced.

Other problems and malfunctions

Body paint is not very strong. Fortunately, iron is not in a hurry to “bloom” at the place of chips. Sometimes there are swelling of the paint on tailgate trunk. On cars Kaluga assembly often the doors are poorly “adjusted”, because of which they do not close well, and it bleeds through from under the seals. Trying to open the hood very coldy can lead to breakage of the plastic bracket - in the place where the hood lock control cable rests. The problem of fogging headlights is rare.

Windshields don't resist well mechanical influences. And the slightest chip immediately spreads across the glass with a web of cracks.

Extraneous sounds in the cabin can cause the rear door lock, rear shelf or raised floor. On many Tiguans, door seals crunch or creak when rolling over bumps.

The whistle of the heater motor is a common phenomenon that intensifies in cold weather or during acceleration. The reason is dust getting on the fan bushings. Official services replace the "whistle" under warranty. If it is over, it is necessary to remove the fan, clean and lubricate its bushings.

Due to rejection contact group the ignition switch can spontaneously turn on or off the radio, and the light does not light up when the ignition is turned off. A problem with the light can cause the fuse in the block to blow. Windshield washers and wipers do not respond when the control unit fails onboard network(14 thousand rubles). If the parking brake does not release, or if the open door alarm is constantly displayed, it is necessary to reset the battery terminal for a few seconds.

Conclusion

Miracle beast - Volkswagen Tiguan was not without flaws. Fortunately, all the sores are well known from other cars of the VAG group. It is worth noting that the manufacturer is constantly working to eliminate miscalculations.

The advantages and disadvantages of the 2018-2019 Volkswagen Tiguan in a new body are identified based on feedback from real owners. Owner reviews

In a car for 1.5 million, the button for opening door 5 completely froze (this is at -2 degrees), and condensation formed in rear lights. At the same time, fogging of both lights is not a warranty case (for removing and installing the lights and drying them on the battery for 5 hours, the officials billed 1,800 rubles). That's it German quality

Gasoline consumption of the new Tiguan (automatic, 2.0 l) in winter, when driving vegetables, did not fall below 16.5 l / 100 km. And this is after competent running-in(no more than 2,000 rpm for 1,500 km).

Liked: handling, comfort, dynamics, Shumka.

Did not like: fuel consumption, no USB input on the head unit.

Video review

Here they write about the steering wheel, usb, etc. - this is all nonsense. The main drawback of the new Volkswagen Tiguan 2 is the fuel consumption of 15-16 liters ... If this is not stressful for you, then I kindly envy you.

Everything else, perfect crossover for the city. Optimal price-quality ratio. For six months of intense use, no questions.

Sergey Krel drives Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 (180 hp) AWD DSG 2016

We have been driving the new VW Tiguan 2 since March 2016. The equipment is CLUB. The first maintenance was carried out at 11 thousand km, i.e. before the prescribed 15 thousand. By the way, all VW dealers have a promotion on Sundays - a 20% discount on maintenance. Before passing the maintenance, they filled 95, periodically there was some kind of whistle for a few seconds when the engine was started, then it disappeared, the speed dropped to 0.8 in two minutes. Passed MOT — everything is OK, changed the oil, filters.

They asked about the whistle, no one answered intelligibly. We live in the Crimea, 98 gasoline has been imported to us since September. We switched to it. And a miracle - the whistle disappeared, the speed after starting the engine falls in 10-15 seconds. The car is frisky, the turbine turns on when the driver needs it, i.e. when overtaking low gear and it helps a lot.

Noise isolation is good. When we bought, we were frightened by oil consumption — nothing like that. There were practically no expenses. In general, comfortable, dignified, crossover))

Consumption on the highway - 5.4-6.0, city - 8-10, up to 11 - if there are traffic jams. Eat good feature- Autohold - keeps the car on the descent and ascent, like a handbrake, when you need to move off, you press the gas pedal and there is no rolling back at all.

Accelerates well and briskly, holds the track steadily. The speed of 120-130 km / h is not felt. Didn't like the upholstery. The fabric could be better.

Irina, review of the Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 (125 hp) mechanics in 2016

Very comfortable car, dynamic and economical, stylish and modern. A daily trip turns into a pleasure for the whole family. For 30 years of driving, I changed 10 cars - the Tiguan did not disappoint. Of the shortcomings, I will only note that the seat upholstery material could be better.

Marina drives a Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 (150 HP) AWD DSG 2017

Where can I buy?

The car was bought in the spring of 2017. I had three main requirements: diesel, webasto and bumper off road. I bought this one - Comfortline equipment + six option packages.

I often go to nature (fishing, mushrooms), so I decided to change bmw sedan to something higher. In principle, I am satisfied with the replacement, but, as they say, there are nuances. After the purchase, I pasted over the entire front of the car with a film (I drive fast and sometimes far, and the headlights and paint become cloudy in a couple of years). I installed a mesh in the bumper - the radiators look painfully defenseless))

LED headlights, especially at night and in the rain — it's class! stripes LED backlight in the doors and thresholds also liked, uyutnenko.

I do not like fabric upholstery on the door — quickly dirty. For some reason, several electrical connectors were placed under the neck of the windshield washer reservoir - if you miss a little, liquid gets on them. In some modes, the rearview mirror shakes and vibrates. Dipped beam — well, very close.

Review of Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 diesel (150 hp) with robot and all-wheel drive 2017

The car is purely masculine in design, strict, as my friend says: golden mean". I fully agree with him.

The well-known German quality is sometimes also upsetting. And, according to the reviews of many or even the majority, the purchase of a Volkswagen Tiguan, not only with mileage, but even from the factory, became such a disappointment. People were waiting for something eternal from German manufacturer, but the opposite happened. Therefore, in this article all significant weak spots and shortcomings German Volkswagen Tiguan that every future buyer should know about this vehicle.

Weaknesses of the 1st generation Volkswagen Tiguan

  • Engine;
  • Valve train chain;
  • "Robot";

Now more….

One of the most serious vulnerabilities Tiguan is, oddly enough, an engine, namely a volume of 1.4 liters. If, for example, there are fewer complaints about other engines (in particular, gasoline 2.0 and diesel), then there are serious complaints about 1.4 TSI. The fact is that the 1.4 liter engine has serious design flaws in terms of calculating the reliability of the pistons. Therefore, primarily due to the high thermal load piston group quickly collapses. There were cases that these problems arose even when the car was under warranty and this malfunction was eliminated, but the majority of Tiguan car owners were faced with the destruction of the pistons after the end warranty period. As a result, the owners had to spend a lot of money on repairs. Therefore, before buying this car, you should know about it and do it. correct conclusions. Separately, we can say about diesel engines. most weak side these engines have the so-called popularly particulate filter. The point is that it quickly clogs with frequent city driving and does not have time to regenerate (self-clean).

It is equally important to know about one more serious weakness of the Tiguan, which can bring serious financial losses to the owners of these cars. This is a quick failure of the timing chain. And this applies to both 1.4 liters. engine, and two-liter. In general, if you remember, there was a whole epic about timing chains. The manufacturer at first refused to admit that the chains were defective, but in the end, due to mass discontent, he had to do this and carry out an analysis and a set of measures to prevent such defects. This was explained by the fact that the supplied chains were produced on equipment with heavy wear. From what the resulting defective edges of the chains, with the engine running, caused rapid wear chains in general. Later this problem I decided, but there are still cars on which the mileage is low, and the chain is still factory. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to this nuance before buying, since bent valves engine due to stretching and failure of the chain is not a pleasant pleasure.

Among all the troubles of Tiguan`a, one more thing can be distinguished - this robotic box DSG. Her resource at correct operation and maintenance does not exceed, as a rule, an average of 100 thousand km. and in general the DSG robot is not famous for its durability on other makes and models of cars. Therefore, it is worth knowing about this, especially for the future buyer of the Volkswagen Tiguan. Therefore, the ideal option would be - this is the choice of Tiguan without DSG boxes. Any other, but not DSG.

Electric power steering.

Electric power steering is one of the diseases of the Volkswagen Tiguan. The EUR on these vehicles brought a lot of problems to their owners. On many cars, there have been cases of failure of the electric power steering, both on the spot and on the move. This was mainly due to a glitch software. In the event of a failure of the EUR in motion, flashing the unit did not help, and the EUR had to be completely changed. Basically, this malfunction made itself felt during the warranty period of the car, but the future owner simply needs to know about the said weak point.

Suspension bearing of the cardan shaft.

The propeller shaft outboard bearing also worried Tiguan owners. This is not to say that this is a massive problem, but when buying a car, you should pay attention to it, since its cost and replacement can significantly hit the pocket of the future owner. It is also possible to indirectly determine bearing wear when driving along a characteristic hum, but it is better to check its condition at a service station.

The main disadvantages of the Volkswagen Tiguan 2007-2016 release

  1. Weak operation of the stove in winter;
  2. Small trunk volume for a crossover;
  3. There is no possibility of full lifting of the wipers;
  4. Long warm-up of the 1.4 liter engine. in winter;
  5. Weak paintwork;
  6. Small side mirrors;
  7. The impossibility of replacing the “dokatka” with a full-size wheel;
  8. Ergonomic miscalculations.

Conclusion.

Based on the foregoing, we can conclude that for such a cost of this model it was possible to install parts, components and assemblies there more reliably than they were actually installed. It should be understood before buying that the failure of any element of the machine, the purchase and replacement will cost the owner a very round sum.

P.S. Dear owners of these cars! We kindly ask you to indicate the noticed shortcomings of the Tiguan that you identified during operation.

The main disadvantages and weaknesses of the Volkswagen Tiguan with mileage was last modified: June 5th, 2019 by Administrator

Many expected that the compact model would be molded in the likeness of the Tuareg's older brother - a lowering row in transfer box, differential locks. But the Tiguan was nevertheless destined for the role of an SUV - it was created on the basis of the fifth generation Golf, from which it was able to adopt excellent road habits. And even though it is contraindicated to go on a trophy-raid on it, but due to a solid ground clearance in 200 mm and short overhangs, he turned out to be quite a worthy fighter with Russian roads, which can often be called directions. Moreover, from the very beginning it was possible to choose the modification "Track and Field", that is, "track and field", with a pursed lip front bumper, due to which the angle of entry increased from 18 to 28 degrees.

He settled in the showrooms of official dealers towards the end of 2008 - in the midst of the global crisis. At the same time, from the very beginning of sales, the Tiguan had a Russian VIN number - at first it was assembled in Kaluga using the SKD (that is, screwdriver) assembly technology, and since 2010 - already in a full cycle, including welding body parts and painting (CKD). However, the very next year he charmed more than seven thousand Russian motorists, and after restyling, he won over 30 thousand customers, pulling himself up to fourth place in the popularity rating. Only the democratic Duster that appeared later prevented him from climbing the pedestal. But Volkswagen was still able to outdo the Toyota RAV4, the founder of modern class SUVs, dearly loved by our compatriots.

For all six years the price basic version The Tiguana hovered around a million rubles, and after restyling, when a 122-horsepower front-wheel drive modification appeared, the first line of the price list even fell below the mark of 900 thousand.

Body and its electrical equipment

Under reliable protection

There are almost no complaints about the car body: galvanization reliably protects it from chips, and a very practical dark gray “skirt” made of unpainted plastic around the entire perimeter allows owners to protect the car from body repairs during contact parking. This rule also works in case of an accident at low speeds, which is good news - even if you have all possible insurance policies, this saves a lot of time.

Due to the specific aerodynamics of a two-volume body, the tailgate attracts all the dirt raised by the car from the road; and after three or four years, its lower edge may still succumb to corrosion - this place should be carefully inspected before buying. Best Option combating such a nuisance will be an extra layer of anticorrosive from a spray can and regular monitoring of a possible accumulation of moisture.

An unfortunate assembly oversight can be recognized as the noise-insulating mat of the hood that sags after a year of operation - the fastening clips do not withstand the load and alternately come out of their seats. During the warranty period, the dealer changes the clips and even the entire casing, but the subsequent owners will have to solve this problem on their own. Take note: the clip code is 1H5 863 849 A01C.

Also note that in winter period snow from shoes can regularly get into the bowels of the floor accelerator pedal, and at one fine moment the pedal can simply break off - due to ice formation. Therefore, it is better to shake off your feet before each trip.

Transmission

DSG - no!

The basic 6-speed manual gearbox is not only extremely selective in its work, but also very reliable. Some owners complain of a somewhat difficult shift from 1st to 2nd gear in cold weather. We advise you to simply wait until the oil warms up after 5-10 minutes of driving - then the problem will be solved by itself. The trouble-free "mechanics" was installed only on two modifications with 1.4 liter turbo engines - with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

With two-liter engines - gasoline and diesel - a pair is formed by a non-alternative 6-speed "automatic", quickly shifting gears and not annoying the owners with breakdowns. But the DSG robotic gearbox first appeared in conjunction with a 150-horsepower 1.4TSI engine in 2012 - this is a 6-speed unit that does not work “dry”, but in an “oil bath”. It is more reliable than the 7-speed DSG with “dry” clutches that the Golfs were equipped with, however, it is not without sin: after 70 thousand mileage, it begins to have problems associated with the ingress of clutch wear products into the common oil circuit.

Engines

Paying for technology

The base engine of the Tiguan in 2008 in Russia was a 150-horsepower "twin-charger" - a progressive turbocharged engine and parallel working mechanical compressor. This decision allowed the engineers to “bury” the turbo pit in the zone low speed at the start of the movement. In the European specification, this engine had 160 hp, but we sold a version derated to 150 hp. Excellent traction reserve, enviable efficiency and excellent acceleration dynamics in fact turned into possible problems with a chain and a cylinder-piston group - due to the design features of the compressor, accelerated wear pistons in the second and (or) third cylinders.

After restyling, the Germans solved the problem with the CPG by making a number of changes to the pistons (for example, steel reinforcing inserts were added), then the extendable chain and the damper prone to self-destruction did not disappear. In general, we strongly do not recommend this modification to you. And if you are still tempted by the “twin-charger”, then be sure to check the condition of the chain and damper, as well as cylinder-piston group: these works could be carried out during the warranty period by the dealer - and more than once! By the way, subject to timely maintenance, even the subsequent owner has the right to count on the support of the plant in the form of a "kulants" - a program that allows you to compensate for a significant part of the cost of repairing expensive units. In addition, it will not be superfluous to change the oil in this engine more often (at least once every 10,000 km) and fill the tank with 98th gasoline.

The 122-horsepower 1.4TSI with a conventional turbocharger turned out to be much less whimsical, however, this unit is not immune to problems with the timing chain. Avoiding trouble is actually not that difficult if you follow one simple rule - never put the car into gear on a slope. And if it's unusual for you to leave the car on only one parking brake, then keep in mind: it is necessary to tuck the gear in the parking lot only after the car is on the handbrake in the “neutral” position with the brake pedal fully depressed. The only way!

Much more common in the secondary market is a two-liter gasoline turbo engine, which, depending on the degree of forcing, develops 170 or 200 hp. With. This engine, in addition to increased oil appetite, was not marked by any special troubles. You can only complain about the leakage of the camshaft position sensor oil seal: replacing the gasket, as well as the sensor itself, does not eliminate the problem, but only pushes it back for a short time. However, Volkswagen engineers nevertheless heeded the pleas of the tiguan growers and, during restyling, changed the design of the assembly, successfully solving this defect.

And yet, oddly enough, the 140-horsepower turbodiesel turned out to be the most problem-free (in Europe, by the way, there are modifications with a capacity of 110 and 170 forces, but in Russia they simply do not exist on the secondary market). The motor carries remarkably cold start in cold weather, digests well domestic fuel(of course, you should refuel only at network gas stations of decent companies) and pleases with efficiency. By by and large, there is only one minus for a diesel engine - rather noisy operation and noticeable vibration.

Chassis and steering

Firmware and more firmware

One of the significant problems of the Tiguan should be recognized as the peculiar operation of the anti-lock braking system: when driving on slippery surfaces ABS excessively releases the wheels, and the subsequent exit on a more tenacious surface, the restoration of full deceleration of the car occurs with a dangerous delay.

It is gratifying that the plant did not ignore the complaints of the owners - the engineers wrote new program ABS controls. From the end of January, any owner of a restyled Tiguan, regardless of whether the deadline has expired or not warranty service, can contact the nearest dealer for this simple and short operation, which will be carried out absolutely free of charge. Perhaps in soon new firmware owners of pre-styling cars, to whom dealers offer this service for a thousand rubles, will also receive it.

Among the sore problems, one can note a creak and even a crunch at low temperatures of the silent blocks of the front levers and bushings of the stabilizers. Moreover, in the latter case, replacing the bushings alone may not be enough - an upgrade of the entire assembly will be required.

Sometimes already at 30,000 km they can give up and wheel bearings, and it’s not worth starting the problem: if they buzz for 2-3 thousand km, then the case may end in jamming. In fairness, it should be noted that this defect is not characteristic of all Tiguans - many owners tend to take the rumble emitted by studded tires for the imminent death of bearings.

Buying?

Well, we still found out that not every Tiguan with mileage is an interesting offer. An expired warranty forces a potential buyer to be much more careful when choosing a power unit, and therefore it is better to bypass a 1.4-liter engine with 150 hp. With. We see the diesel modification as the most justified choice: according to the reviews of the masters, there are already instances on the market with a range of under 250 thousand kilometers, which do not even think of showing signs of imminent death. However, we will not dissuade you from buying Tiguans with two-liter petrol turbo engines They are also very reliable vehicles.
