To deal with rhythmic drift without ESP, you need to work very actively with the steering wheel, otherwise the skid may become uncontrollable.

By the way, and anti-lock system on Vesta it works quite delicately - a slight vibration gives off to the pedal, and not a series of blows, as happens on budget models.

Lada Vesta has good visibility, makes it easy to park on large rear-view mirrors. In our configuration there was no rear-view camera, but there was parking sensors. Even dirt-splattered parking sensors report obstacles in a timely manner.


After the site, we drove along the M-7 Moscow-Ufa highway. On the track, Vesta makes it easy to stay in the flow, if necessary, overtake without switching to lower gears.

The version with a manual transmission was the first to go on the road, which immediately surprised me with the quiet operation of both the box and the engine, both during normal driving and during acceleration. Sometimes I even had to look at the speed to understand that it was time to switch. Also, one cannot fail to note the confidence and agility of acceleration, which in nature is somewhat reminiscent of sports versions car Lada. Vesta, according to the developers, is faster than Ford, although no one has yet named specific numbers. The clutch also works well - soft and smooth, well, just like on a foreign car.

"Robot", in turn, can be called a wayward unit, you will have to adapt to its measured demeanor, but for the sake of significant fuel savings, this is worth doing. The robotic box switches smoothly, one might say slowly, there is no quick acceleration of the car, as with the “mechanics”, but the box slows down much more efficiently, which is indispensable when driving in city traffic, especially in traffic jams. In addition, it is much easier to manage it than to pull the manual transmission knob.

Now about the behavior on the pavement. Vesta holds the trajectory more than confidently, also confidently obeys the helm and maneuvers in corners or when changing lanes. It is immediately felt that the novelty received a suspension and a steering wheel of a completely new layout for a VAZ of a much higher level than before: the work of the suspension is almost imperceptible, there are no excessive vibrations on the steering wheel. And of course, one cannot remain silent about the brakes, the calibration of which, just like the suspension tuning, took place in Europe at a special training ground of the Renaul-Nissan concern. Vesta's brake pedal works a little harder and more informative than Kalina or Grants and Priora combined. The sedan brakes confidently, with a clear deceleration, and the ABS turns on exactly when needed, and not when the electronics wanted. Unfortunately, the roads are still dry and it was not possible to test the behavior of the brakes on snow or ice, perhaps next time we will have such an opportunity.

And if you turn off the asphalt?

Considering that our country can not boast everywhere good slopes, and outside the city, many roads are corny unpaved, we decided to try out the novelty on country roads. Here, the new Lada is probably head and shoulders above its competitors. Having traveled on a dozen foreign cars, I can only reproach him with hard plastic both in appearance and to the touch, however, I am not going to gnaw it, besides, let's not forget how much the car costs.

In place of the overhead handle on the driver's side is a handy spectacle case. The ceiling handles themselves are with a microlift, the armrest is in its place, and its magnet, in my opinion, is a very good solution.

There are cup holders and a phone shelf at the bottom of the center console, and there is also a clothes hook on the overhead handle behind the driver, which I miss sorely in the Duster. In a word, the creators of Lada Vesta SW took great care of the man behind the wheel and his passengers. And they even overdid it with the organization of space for cargo.

The idea of ​​​​a double floor is not at all original, a cover to protect the loading edge of the trunk will not be superfluous, but you won’t get a flat floor with the back of the sofa folded down, and I would put all these pallets in the garage and forget. Station wagons are station wagons to carry more luggage than a sedan or hatchback. In general, a solution with a double floor is not for everyone, with a full trunk, getting a “reserve” in the rain on the highway will be very boring.
