The Volkswagen Amarok pickup is built according to the classic scheme for SUVs - frame structure body, rear leaf spring suspension with a solid axle, three types of drive: from a simple rear or permanent full with Torsen center differentials, to a plug-in full (hard-wired front axle), powerful diesel and gasoline engines, 6 manual transmission and 8 automatic transmission. And most importantly, new Volkswagen The Amarok has a huge cargo platform behind the cab. "German SUV pickup?" - such a phrase a couple of years ago could only cause a smile, but times are changing.
A pickup truck from Volkswagen has been present on the Russian market since 2010 and in such a short time has managed to gain the respect of Russian motorists. In our review, we will try to help you choose the 2012-2013 Volkswagen Amarok, and the choice will not be easy. The model has two types of cabins, two engines, two gearboxes, rear or four-wheel drive, a wide palette for colors, tires, wheels, options and accessories in a large assortment. You can evaluate the appearance of the Volkswagen Amarok from the photos and videos posted at the end of the review.

The German pickup truck is offered in two cab versions: Single Cab - double with two doors and Double Cab - five-seater with four doors.
Volkswagen Amarok Single Cab is a workhorse pickup truck with a powerful Heavy-Duty rear suspension (5 leaf springs), the car is capable, depending on the type of drive and the installed engine, to carry up to 1200 kg of cargo and tow a trailer weighing up to 2.8 tons. A car with a single cab is not in high demand on the Russian market, and fully belongs to commercial vehicles, but we will focus on the Amarok Double Cab.
A Volkswagen pickup truck with a five-seater cab is offered in Russia in three trim levels - Amarok Double Cab Basis, Amarok Double Cab Trendline Wheelbase and Amarok Double Cab Highline.
Let's start our review with large external dimensions sizes German pickup Volkswagen Amarok: 5254 mm long, 1954 mm (with mirrors 2228 mm) wide, 1834 mm high, 3095 mm wheelbase, ground clearance (clearance) varies from 200 to 240 mm depending on the type of drive and configuration. The cargo platform with an area of 2.52 m2 and a side height of 508 mm is designed to load a standard Euro pallet. The length of the platform is 1555 mm, but thanks to the folding side, this parameter can be increased to 2063 mm. The board itself is able to withstand a load of up to 200 kg, the loading height of the platform is 780 mm.

  • The geometric patency of the pickup body hints at the serious off-road potential of the car: the approach angle is 28 degrees, the ramp angle is 23 degrees, the exit angle is 23.6 degrees, the pickup truck is able to force water barriers up to 500 mm deep.

The 2012-2013 Volkswagen Amarok SUV pickup truck looks serious, powerful and original compared to other models German manufacturer. All elements of the body are large and massive: large ceiling lamps, headlights, a wide radiator grille, a huge front bumper, courageously swollen wheel arches with a pronounced profile, the correct form of large doorways and doors, a flat roof and a huge cargo platform.

  • Optional tires 255/ 60 R18 or 255/ 55 R19 on light alloys disks 18-19 sizes are easily placed in the wheel arches, to say nothing of the base tires 245/70 R16 or tires 245/65 R17.

The Volkswagen Amarok offers a host of accessories, ranging from such useful things as floor mats, covers, footrests of various designs that can withstand a mass of 200 kg and protection rear window cabin, ending with a plastic protection of the luggage compartment and rods made of 76 mm pipes. The compartment can be closed with an ordinary canvas cover, a plastic cover for 103,000 rubles or an add-on (you can buy a Volkswagen Amarok kung with sliding windows at a price of 147,000 rubles), visually making a station wagon out of a pickup truck.

  • Suggested for body painting wide choose colors enamels: Candy White (white), Sand Beige (beige), Reflex Silver (silver), Natural Gray (gray), Ontario Green (green), Starlight Blue (blue), Mendoza Brown (brown), Tornado Red (red), Deep Black (black).

In addition to the spar frame, the car boasts a fully galvanized cab and cargo area, metal protection engine compartment, as an option it is also possible to order the protection of the gearbox and the fuel tank.

The interior of the Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck matches the appearance - large, straightforward and serious, and most importantly, a full-fledged five-seater. Let's start the review of the interior with the rear row of seats. I would like to note right away that it will be convenient to get into the cabin only if there are side steps, otherwise it is inconvenient to sit down. It is comfortable to sit in the second row thanks to the correct angle of inclination of the backrest and a long pillow. The seats are capable of transformation - the back is lowered, the pillow can be raised and fixed. Places for three adult passengers with a margin in all directions.
The front part of the cabin - with traditional Volkswagen cars reference ergonomics, only chairs that lack lateral support somewhat spoil the picture. The rest of the interior of the pickup truck is similar to the saloon expensive SUV. Comfortable steering wheel, stylish and informative devices with a screen on-board computer in the center, a powerful body of a dashboard and a center console with a competent placement of the air conditioning system and radio. Finishing materials and build quality of the cabin at a high level.
The initial configuration implies the installation of an air conditioner, a radio (CD MP3 radio) with two speakers, heated front seats, air ducts for the rear of the cabin, the presence of 2 airbags, electrically controlled windows, central locking, heated electric mirrors, ESP, HAS, EBS, ABS, ASR, EDL, power steering. The list of options and accessories is traditionally very large for Volkswagen and, of course, expensive, after selecting the “chips” you like, the cost of a pickup truck will increase by several hundred thousand rubles.

Specifications Volkswagen Amarok 2013: the car is offered in Russia with two diesel engines.

  • 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel (140 hp) with 6 manual transmissions and two drive options, on rear wheels 4x2 (with plug-in system) all-wheel drive 4Motion).

The engine provides dynamics up to 100 mph in 13.5 (13.7) seconds with top speed 163 (161) mph. Fuel consumption averages 7.5-8.5 liters according to the manufacturer.

  • 2.0-liter biTDI diesel (180 hp) mechanics 6 manual transmission with plug-in 4Motion (or automatic gearbox 8 automatic transmission with constant 4Motion).

The motor is able to accelerate heavy car up to 100 mph in 10.6 (11.1) seconds, and the maximum speed will be 183 (180) mph. The average fuel consumption according to the passport is 7.5-8.5 liters. Real consumption According to the reviews of the owners of the Volkswagen Amarok, fuel is about 10 liters in mixed mode, and in the city it can reach 12 liters.

Test Drive new Volkswagen Amarok model 2012: on paved roads, the pickup truck demonstrates stable handling, stiff suspension, light handlebar, and in habits practically does not differ from the crossover. That's just because of the rear spring suspension, the passengers of the second row are noticeably shaken. It should also not be forgotten that for better grip rear wheels with the roadway, it is necessary to ensure that the luggage compartment is loaded with at least 200 kg of ballast, which will not be superfluous even off-road, otherwise the entire off-road arsenal in the face of high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and differential locks will be useless. The weight distribution of a pickup truck is such that with an empty luggage compartment the car is like a “cow on ice”, the wheels rotate, but there is no sense.
Another small addition, if during the operation of the Volkswagen Amoroka the owner does not plan to use a large luggage compartment for its intended purpose - transportation of goods, it is better to look towards an SUV with a traditional universal body.

What is the price: the price in Russia for a German Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck with a Double Cab cab starts from 1,150,600 rubles for the initial version of Basis (140 hp 6 manual transmission 4x2), the Trendline package is sold for a price of 1,197,400 rubles, you can buy the Highline version for at least 1,313,600 rubles.
Tuning Volkswagen Amarok is best trusted official dealer or a company specializing in bringing cars to perfection. The same applies to issues such as further service maintenance and repair. It is also easier to buy spare parts for Volkswagen Amarok through a car dealership. It is cheaper, but more troublesome to order spare parts and accessories via the Internet.

Volkswagen Amarok, 2012

I bought a Volkswagen Amarok car in May 2012, only recently TO-1 was done. I can’t express my emotions in words - I’m just ready to squeal with delight. My expectations are 100 percent justified, especially for the suspension. I bought this car, among other things, in order to go hunting. It's hard for me to rate it. off-road qualities, since I never had an SUV before, moreover, I never even had a chance to ride a jeep. However, I can say this: I never had to get stuck, I never even got my feet dirty when I looked at or looked for the way. And where I just didn’t climb, I had to deal with Volkswagen Amarok stones, and with swamps, and with hills in the forest, and with rivers. It is clear that, within reasonable limits, he did not look for any fanaticism, specifically for swamps. Engine - power 122 horsepower(I did not even expect that it could be so frisky). I was also pleased with the level of consumption (I tested it in sixth gear at speeds of 80-90 kilometers per hour, it turned out 6.6-6.7 liters / weave). Regarding the interior of the Volkswagen Amarok: I’m 186 centimeters tall, I tried to sit down by myself - calmly, I didn’t even rest on my knees, and in general it’s just huge, with such a comfortable armrest for two. With a very soft suspension - the very thing for driving over bumps, pits. Yes, it can “goat”, but it doesn’t bother me, I drove somehow for 14 hours - 1.3 thousand kilometers and no fatigue.

Advantages : spacious lounge. Soft suspension. Engine. Reliability.

Flaws : soundproofing.

Volkswagen Amarok, 2012

I bought a Volkswagen Amarok last year (2012). If I were asked what was the basis for such a purchase, I would answer that the reason is simple - something hit my head and that's it. Maybe it's the age (previously I had only "Audi"). I bought this car as a second, then there was a terrible shortage (and to this day people have to queue for best case several months, at worst a year). True, this is the case if you order a car, the Volkswagen Amarok is still available in a free configuration, though in the most expensive trim levels. To date, I have managed to drive 17,000 kilometers on the Amarok, and 8,000 in the EU countries. When I drove the first 1.5 thousand kilometers, I had to deal with a serious problem, replacing the gearbox assembly. What and how I don’t know, it remained a mystery to me, then the third and fourth gears refused to work. The trip to the dealer was fun - in gears 1,2, 5,6. But, in general, there was nothing more. No breakage, nothing fell off and did not burn. It upsets that to this day there are no original accessories for the body, there are no “lifts”. All that is offered is made in Asia, very rarely in Australia and the United States. True, this is considered a worldwide practice of auto concerns (they trust outsourcing companies to produce accessories). In general, Volkswagen Amarok suits me. He is worthy of his value. And the choice is worthy, I think.

Advantages A: Worth the money.

Flaws : original body accessories are missing.

Volkswagen Amarok, 2013

"Amarok" is just a car, the Germans do not knit brooms, everything is smartly done, everything is carefully thought out in technical, engineering and design terms, the car acts somehow soothingly, it does not require increased attention when driving. There is no point in even comparing with the "Japanese", in my opinion. In terms of handling - I haven’t seen anything better among pickups, which, like the Tuareg a la pickup, you can not be afraid of quite sharp changes, excellent cornering, rutting, and icy road holds confidently. This is all thanks to a good balance in terms of design: a car with a base of 3.1 meters, a width of 1.95 meters (the widest among classmates), with the most successful axle weight distribution among cars this class. About dynamics. 163-horsepower engine, torque - 400 Nm, 6-speed manual (at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, revolutions - 2000 per minute, sixth gear). I prefer to drive at speeds from 1000 to 1500 (due to natural greed, I try to save fuel with all my might, plus I also have to think about the environment). Well, as for the dynamics of acceleration - you can drive up to a "weave" per hour with a Toyota FJ Cruiser, Nissan Pathfinder. Developed a speed of 180 kilometers per hour (3000 rpm, sixth gear). As for savings - DT, very economically, in summer time in the city - 8 liters, winter period- from 10 to 12 liters per 100 kilometers. It all depends on the temperature (how the "webasta" works) and the thickness of the snow layer.

Advantages : reliability. Unpretentiousness. Comfort. Quality.

Flaws : no serious.

Volkswagen Amarok, 2010

I bought a 3-year-old Volkswagen Amarok with a mileage of 60,000 km, Highline equipment - that is, it is “maximum speed”, but for 10 years without leather. Of the "special stages" was a rear-view camera. Before buying, I drove and chose for a long time, I really wanted a pickup truck, and the choice was between the L200 and the Hilux, I didn’t even look at the Volkswagen Amarok then. The main parameters were diesel and a comfortable lounge. I wanted a restyled L200, but there were so few of them that there were only a few cars to even look at, and when I looked, I was very disappointed with this new elongated body, which hangs like a trough over the rear axle, and inside hello from the 2000s, even though Hilux and not better inside, but it is supposedly very reliable. With all this, it does not "steer" at all. And then I accidentally drove into Salon Volkswagen and he stood, white Volkswagen Amarok, handsome. Approached, looked, asked the manager to show and ride, with those 163 forces that were, it is much more dynamic than the L200 and Hilux. The salon inside is wider and seems newer, yes of course oak plastic, but it all looks very even. Native radio with a screen, camera, multifunction steering wheel, instruments like all VWs, driving is controlled like a crossover, but of course it shakes the stern because of the springs. But it enters the turns as glued, the rolls are minimal. Landing - if in the L200 and Hilux you sit like in a Gazelle, then here you sit like in a passenger car. A lot of niches for storage, bottles and coasters. Of the breakdowns, probably, it was only the air conditioning compressor, everywhere they write that this is their disease, and somewhere around 90 they changed the belt with rollers, also changed the silent blocks on the suspension and the handbrake cable turned sour. I am completely satisfied with the car and sold it with a mileage of 120,000, having bought myself a Prado 150.

Advantages : manageability. Reliable suspension. Good dynamics. Comfortable to sit. Full back row. On all-wheel drive rides like a tractor.

Flaws : LKP.

Volkswagen Amarok, 2016

I suddenly bought a pickup truck for myself. I liked the Volkswagen Amarok outwardly. I took it for a test drive and did not disappoint. I traded a 3-year-old Murano. I didn’t have pickups before, not economic, not a fisherman and not a hunter. I can't say anything bad about the previous machines. Assembly for Japan is a sign of reliability, comfort and durability. It's a pity they became inadequately expensive and when sold in the west, huge losses. My last "Japanese" from St. Petersburg differed from the real ones in everything. Build quality, materials and especially voracity. I travel a lot, 18 per hundred "toad presses." And here's the Volkswagen Amarok. New, diesel, automatic, in Trade configuration. I put on the Fullbox cover, installed a cool cup holder and go. The end of September, it's not summer in Podolsk anymore. Went through mud. Before that, I had not been involved in such scams. Rides surprisingly well. Went to the "dalnyak" 1000 km. Justifies the hopes. You don't get tired, large space in the cab, excellent visibility, comfortable seats, stability on the road, controls are conveniently placed (except for heated mirrors). In my opinion, strengths cars: consumption up to 10 per hundred. Ergonomic cabin for the driver and front passenger. "Webasto" - just fine for winter, it costs a full-time one, it works as a heater and as a heater. Stability on the road. Smooth running - the base is long. Good cross off-road. Great multi wheel. Very warm interior. Seat heating is almost instantaneous. Sophisticated 8-speed hydraulic automatic. Steering column and front seat settings. Niches in the doors, drawers under the seats, cup holders.

Advantages : in a review.

Flaws : Have not found.

Volkswagen Amarok, 2018

So, owning a Volkswagen Amarok with a 2.0 engine and having a lot of experience driving a small Isuzu NQR75 truck, as well as starting release Volkswagen Amarok with 3.0, I began to feel that I still lacked the power of 2.0 on the track and, having the opportunity to purchase new Volkswagen Amarok I bought it. In fact, there was no choice for pickups, because. Volkswagen Amarok essentially has no competitor for my choice (the car should not be afraid of the load, bad road, and try to be comfortable for passengers). The closest competitor to Mercedes, in my opinion, is not a cargo one, because. behind the spring, but for my tasks this is not acceptable. Yes, and in terms of reliability with him, it is not clear there are already some problems with them in the cold. All other engines supplied through dealers fall short in terms of power and, accordingly, in terms of dynamics. I note - I am not a fan of VW, I had it in operation different cars and, of course, I appreciate the reliability of cars, but the problems of ergonomics, backward design and outdated solutions are also annoying. Volkswagen Amarok is quite reliable, but consumables need to be changed more often than European regulations, as well as transmission oils not for the entire life of the car. Difference with Volkswagen Amarok 2.0. The new Amarok in the Highline configuration (like the previous one) with “additional steps”: ergonomic seats, cargo springs, tow bar, multimedia, wheel pressure sensors, spare wheel molding, a body covered with protective plastic, a rear view camera, etc. The main differences for driver's seat- this is the convenience of multimedia, comfortable seats, a prettier front panel with an aluminum insert. Differences in dynamics. Relative to 2.0, a huge power reserve, and aircraft dynamics when overtaking. Traveling at a speed of 130 km / h with a load of 500 kg in 8 gears, it drives into fairly long climbs. Consumption on the highway 9.5 - 11 in the city 10.5 - 13. On the highway, it feels like it eats less than 2.0 (I move along the highway at a speed of 125-135 when overtaking up to 160), in the city it eats more than 2.0. Feels like the engine is less audible in the cabin. With a run of 9000, the engine does not eat oil, but just like at 2.0, in order to see the real oil level, you need to let the car stand. The brakes are round disc and more effective than the 2.0. In general, the car has been decently updated, of course the main thing is the heart. But they could update the doors around the cabin and put the washer on the xenon headlights.

Advantages : reliability. Dynamics. Controllability. Comfortable salon. Comfortable seats.

Flaws : no headlight washers.

Volkswagen Amarok, 2017

When choosing a pickup truck, I thought HiLux, Volkswagen Amarok or L200. L200 did not reach him - they said the vegetable was strong, they wanted something cooler and more interesting. By the way, I forgot to say - the experience in pickups was 10 years ago. Hilux 2001 2.8 motor on the box. Real truck. And most importantly, the pants rubbed in it and the heel of the boots was not the sole, but the heel itself, because you lie almost and your knees are up to the steering wheel. The first was tested Volkswagen Amarok 2 liters on the machine. Wide, rushing, automatic switches quickly, holds the track. For the purity of the experiment, we are testing the new Hilux. My friend and I are sitting in front, and in the back, the sales manager is behind. We left on the track, gas to the floor (engine 2.8), he does not go. Up to 100 somehow, and then growls, does not accelerate. I think, as the tractor was, it remained. I look at the presence of a friend - he has a Volkswagen Amarok on his face. We leave the test drive as soon as possible. The same landing - knees in the ears, it is very narrow compared to the Volkswagen Amarok. The torpedo in it is some kind of Chinese. Already ordering Volkswagen Amarok exactly decided 3 liters. I had to wait 3 months. God, how he keeps the track, rides like some kind of car. Salon suits, music fire can be installed android auto. There are a lot of big boxes, coasters. This is the first car on which I watch the speed index on wheels, on the winter bridge up to 195 km/h, on the summer bridge up to 210 km/h. Very stable. He himself began to notice that the car was moving very quickly. You can't drive it at 100 km/h. On asphalt 120-160 cruising speed. For a run of 27,000 km, the ecology sensor caught fire once. Burned OD. free and all. In general, I begin to torment the car - forests, fields, swamps, snow, and asphalt. Emotions are like this: you go early in the morning to hunt for 150 km, you walk all day, and in the evening you go home again in an hour. An hour there, an hour back.

Advantages : appearance. Interior ergonomics. Dynamics 3.0 l. Controllability.

Flaws : not seen.

The Volkswagen Amarok was first presented in 2009 at the international truck show in Hannover under the name Volkswagen Pickup Concept. Mass production have been established since the fall of 2009 at the Pacheco plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina, since it was South America (along with Africa and Australia) that became the main market for this pickup truck. The name of the model "Amarok" was taken from the language of the Innuit, who live in Greenland and Chukotka, and translates as "steppe wolf".

Amarok is designed completely from the ground up. The car has impressive dimensions, its length is 5254 mm, width - 1944/1954 mm, and height - 1834 mm. By cargo capabilities this pickup has no equal in the class. On board, he can lift from 950 kg to 1.2 tons of cargo. And in the Heavy Duty version, it can take more than a ton and pull a trailer weighing up to 2.8 tons. Initially, buyers were offered a 5-seater modification with a "double" cab (double cab). In the future, it is planned to introduce a version with a single cab.

The developers have created a perfect new platform. The Amarok is based on a ladder frame, which is considered the strongest in the class, and is load-bearing in the body. The front suspension is independent, has double wishbones and springs. Rear suspension has a continuous bridge on springs, has two varieties depending on the preferences of the buyer: more comfortable suspension with two-leaf springs and more utilitarian with five-leaf springs.

The exterior design is made in the style Volkswagen brands: fog lights, integrated into the front bumper, a fairly massive false radiator grille, characteristic headlights. The interior of the Amarok is quiet and comfortable, spacious even on rear seats. The interior design is similar to that of Volkswagen passenger cars. The appliances are very practical. Everything is as functional as possible, and the materials for decoration are chosen mostly solid and strict. The five-seat interior is thought out to the smallest detail: the rear row of seats can be folded down, organizing additional space for luggage.

Amarok is offered in three trim levels - Base, Highline and Trendline. The simplest version has no special additional equipment(conventional mechanical door locks and power windows), but the Trendline version, not to mention the Highline version, has power accessories, air conditioning, fog lights and an audio system. As for maximum configuration Highline, it is also distinguished by chrome mirrors painted wheel arches And alloy wheels 17 inches (in previous versions- 16 inches). Listed additional accessories— arches, steps, plastic covers for a cargo compartment and many other things.

Under the hood of the Volkswagen Amarok Double Cab (Base and Trendline versions) is a 2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine 90 kW/122 hp His distinctive feature is a turbocharger with variable geometry turbines. At a speed of 2000 rpm, the compact two-liter engine develops a torque of 340 Nm. Such a pickup consumes about 7.5 liters of fuel per 100 km. Such a motor is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and front wheel drive. In the top configuration, the owner of the car receives a 2-liter turbodiesel with a Common-Rail direct injection system equipped with an adjustable twin turbocharging, which allows reaching a maximum torque of 400 Nm already at 1500 rpm. Average consumption fuel is only 7.6 liters per 100 km for the rear-wheel drive version.

Volkswagen Amarok has three types of drive: basic rear, plug-in full and permanent full. Rear-wheel drive will be more preferable in urban areas and on smooth roads. The second drive option provides all-wheel drive with a rigidly connected front axle and downshift in the distributor. And the third option is permanent four-wheel drive, which has center differential Torsen, with which the torque is divided in a 40/60 ratio, without a reduction gear. The Amarok has electronic systems assistance during descent and ascent, using the button off road off-road mode is activated ABS work, which can significantly reduce braking distances. New pickup has a ground clearance of 249 mm, and a fording depth of 500 mm. Therefore, even the most bad coatings pickup conquers confidently and without any doubt.

According to the results of crash tests, VW Amarok received four stars out of five possible.

Absolutely in front of us new car. And as Volkswagen representatives say, this is the first full-size European pickup truck. The developers boasted two economical diesel engines, a heavy-duty frame and other "chips" that, in their opinion, others do not have.

Data:
Price: from 990,000 rubles.
Engine: TDI 1968 cc cm, 4 cyl. 24 cells, 163 hp at 4.000 rpm, 400 Nm at 1.500-2.000 rpm
Transmission: MKP6, four-wheel drive
Ratings: 0-100 km/h 11.1, Vmax 181 km/h, 7.9 l/100 km
Weight: 1875 kg
Dimensions: 5254 x 1944 x 1834
On sale: autumn 2010

The main thing for a pickup truck is body dimensions and carrying capacity. What is ready to surprise Amarok?
Indeed, the carrying capacity is not bad - depending on the version, it can carry from 775 kg to 1145 kg. But, alas, Amarok still loses a little and, which have a load capacity of 1175 kg. Even at the presentation, the phrase was heard several times that the body is also suitable for transporting an ATV or a motorcycle. Let's figure it out. So, the length of the Amarok body is 1555 mm, and the width is 1222 mm. Now we take a fairly popular Yamaha ATV Grizzly 700, which is 2065 mm long and 1181 mm wide. Fits in width, but in length? In the best case, one axle will stand on the tailgate, and in the worst case, it will hang in the air. The situation is the same with a motorcycle - only a small enduro can be squeezed into the body. In a word, the main advantage of the Amarok body is the width, which is really larger than that of other pickups officially sold in the Russian Federation.

How does the Amarok drive?
But if cargo compartment in the Volkswagen Amarok did not seem to us something outstanding, the driving performance is really good. The buyer is offered a choice of two modifications diesel engine- one produces 122 hp and 340 Nm of torque, the second is equipped with not one, but two turbines and develops 163 hp. and a moment of 400 Nm. I have only tried more powerful version, and, I will say, the car accelerates perfectly.
Depending on the configuration, the Amarok can be either rear-wheel drive or with all-wheel drive. Not a bad idea - why would a person who uses an Amarok for commercial needs need four-wheel drive? But...not to our liking. It must be understood that this car on Russian soil has no chance of becoming " workhorse". Well, we don't have a small farm, we don't have vineyards. In Russia, fodder beets and rutabaga are growing, which are taken out of the fields by Kamaz trucks. All companies that supply pickup trucks to our country understood this long ago and began to position their product for people leading an active lifestyle, fishermen, hunters. Moreover, despite the presence of model range versions with a single cab, these cars were not even taken to Russia, realizing that there would be no demand. I think the same fate awaits the Volkswagen Amarok - the overwhelming demand will be for the all-wheel drive version with a full-size interior.

By the way, did you like the full-size interior?
It is designed according to "Volkswagen" strictly. But the ergonomics are great. I also liked the front seats, which, by the way, depending on the configuration, can be endowed with height adjustment. Behind, as in any pickup truck, it is not very comfortable to sit - a short pillow and a vertical back. But in principle, you can get used to it. To be honest, only one thing is seriously embarrassing - the unpleasant smell of plastic, which literally finished me off already 50 km after the start. I stopped the car, walked a little, breathed. All further journey had to be done with the windows open.

Is the all-wheel drive system identical to the VW Touareg?
Nothing in common - all off-road potential comes down to a lower row and a rigid center lock. Yes, there is still a system for keeping the car on a slope. True, the excellent geometric cross-country ability saves the situation a little. The Amarok has a decent ground clearance of 240mm and short front and rear overhangs. Specialists from Volkswagen have prepared a special track to demonstrate exactly these qualities of the novelty. They are really impressive - a steep climb, and the novice overcomes a sharp descent without problems.
