The compact hatchback fits perfectly into the life of an inhabitant of a busy metropolis: it requires little fuel, it is easier to maneuver in narrow streets, and it is more pleasant to park in a few parking lots. That is why the hatchback is still the best-selling car in Europe. Volkswagen Golf, and 4 other places in the Top 5 are occupied by hatches: Fiesta, Clio, Polo and Corsa. Well, if a European inhabitant in a car, in addition to himself, has to carry some cargo, then instead of a hatchback, it will most likely be car purchased in a station wagon.
Our mentality is somewhat different - compact hatchbacks and roomy station wagons, as a rule, go to the second (or even third) plan, giving the palm to another type of body. Most of our compatriots, of course, need just him - a car that is proudly called "sedan"! And the bigger the sedan, the better!
Automakers understand this, and therefore bring to the Russian market cars that should definitely be in demand - budget (for everyone) sedans! And if you need now budget sedan there really is plenty to choose from. And in the matter of choosing a new car, in addition to all the pros and cons, options and engines, for many, the size and capacity remain the decisive factors. Therefore, we decided to compare the dimensions of the eight most popular budget cars our market and find the answer to important question: "Which of them is greater?".
To determine the big car let's introduce the frivolous concept of "car area", for this we will simply multiply the length by the width, as in primary school. The measure, as you understand, is very conditional, but, nevertheless, it is impossible to take into account only the length when determining the dimensions.

Multiplying one by the other, we get 7.242 square meters - this will be our “car area”. The car is really more compact than its competitors, but for an unprecedented price of 332,000 rubles for the starting equipment, this can probably be forgiven.

The initial version costs 376,000 rubles - it turns out that the “Japanese rebranding” of Grants costs a little more than 40,000.

Seventh and sixth place shared by two "brothers" originally from Korea, built on the same platform - Hyundai Solaris And Kia Rio collected in St. Petersburg. Rio is longer than Solaris, but only 2 mm, their lengths are 4377 mm and 4375 mm, respectively. And the width values of the "brothers" completely coincide and are equal to 1700 mm. Total values: 7.441 m2 for Kia and 7.437 m2 for Hyundai. Solaris captivates with an interesting starting price of 509,100 rubles (though without air conditioning), and Rio already costs at least 539,900 rubles.

Despite the impressive dimensions, they are bought poorly: the combination of a high price (599,900 rubles) and a frivolous 1.2-liter engine with 72 hp affects. 115-horsepower Citroens cost from 776,400 rubles, which puts an end to sales.

After all, if the car beats rivals in terms of headroom, this does not mean at all that it will be the best in the shoulders. I had to invent new methodology comparisons - we calculate the arithmetic mean for each car for all measured parameters (if a range is specified, we take into account the maximum value). Of course, in this case, the winners are models with the largest range for adjusting the front seat, but this indicator is far from the last, as well as other parameters, it directly affects the comfort of the driver and passengers. Chinese Haval H2 and Zotye T600 - they are noticeably larger than the "Korean" in size.
But among the most budgetary front-wheel drive pseudo-crossovers, Renault can be noted. Sandero Stepway. Look, in most parameters it is slightly inferior to the platform Lada Xrey, but it significantly surpasses it in terms of shoulder room. It is also noteworthy that at the end of the rating were cars that are more focused on the comfort of the front riders. Well, the Audi A4 closes the table. She turned out at same all by distance in the shoulders for the front passengers. Not the most best indicator and ceiling height.
