Tiida test. Test drive Nissan Sentra and Nissan Tiida: sedan or hatch? Nissan Tiida - "Emergence"

Tiida test. Test drive Nissan Sentra and Nissan Tiida: sedan or hatch? Nissan Tiida - "Emergence"

One of the miniature representatives of the Nissan family - the five-door hatchback Nissan Tiida - was not chosen by us for a test drive by chance - this extreme winter, all-wheel drive SUVs have become more relevant than ever. We decided to check whether it is possible to combine such small dimensions, which are so convenient in the city, with a cross-country ability that allows you to move along Kazan roads.

INTERIOR

The Tiida salon turned out to be quite spacious and comfortable, its height was especially pleasing, here a person not only of average height, but also quite tall can easily get comfortable here. The design of the interior and instrument panel is simple, but pleasing to the eye, so it simply does not turn out to be called a "budget" language. The instrument panel is perceived intuitively and without difficulty.

I could not help but be pleased with the air heating system in the cabin, which allows you to set the required comfortable temperature. In the summer, with the minimum configuration of the Nissan Tiida, its owner will receive air conditioning, in more expensive trim levels - climate control.

The view from the passenger compartment did not let us down either, more than sufficient visibility through the windshield, as well as small “windows”, as if tearing apart the front pillars, and electric rear-view mirrors allow the driver to fully assess the situation on the road. True, there is one minus, connected more likely not with the design features of the car, but with an unusual design - "for an amateur": the fact is that the Tiida hood line "falls" down so steeply that it is simply impossible to assess the dimensions of the car from the driver's seat in front, for this, perhaps, you need to get up.

EXTERIOR

And, since we are talking about design, it is impossible not to notice that for a hatchback it is really not quite standard: in addition to the low lines of the hood, the shape of the rear of the body is also surprising - the trunk lid is standardly located at a slight angle, but merges with the body so smoothly , which forms an almost straight line with it, and the taillights "crash" into this harmonious picture in contrast.

The lower edge of the trunk lid is low enough to facilitate the task of loading heavy loads there. True, you can’t load a lot of these same burdens into the Tiida trunk - its volume is small, one might even say that it is very small for a hatchback. In addition, the rear seats fold only the backs and then, not at a very large angle. So it is problematic to carry large items in such a car.

DYNAMIC QUALITIES

But on the road, Tiida showed almost ideal characteristics for its class. The sensitive steering gave excellent handling everywhere - on a forest road, in a deep rut, and even on uneven icy road surfaces. The optimal size and coverage of the steering wheel make you feel even more confident, not to mention the electric power steering, which goes without saying in almost any modern foreign car. Clearance Tiida can be considered with full confidence sufficient even for the Kazan winter.

The automatic transmission also turned out to be on top, showing good acceleration dynamics, quite sufficient not only for the city, but also for the highway. Nissan Tiida is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine and carries 110 horses under the hood. Oddly enough, this is quite enough for the normal operation of the automatic transmission even in winter conditions, the car, as they say, “pulls” out of the snow and ruts easily.

Suspension deserves special comments, which recently takes the highest bar from Nissan cars. Such a smooth and comfortable ride, like the Tiida, could perhaps be expected from a business class car. On roads where in some analogues and competitors of this car the ride would seem "like on an electric train", Tiida sailed without giving its passengers the slightest inconvenience.

SAFETY

And of course, I was pleased with the abundance of basic equipment that ensures safety in every sense of the word:

Front airbags for driver and passenger
- Front side airbags
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
-Electronic brake force distribution (EBD)
-Emergency brake booster (Brake Assist)
-Central locking with remote control
-Locking the rear doors from accidental opening by children
-Immobilizer
-Active front seat headrests
- Driver and passenger seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters
- 3-point seat belts for rear passengers
-3 rear seat head restraints
- ISOFIX child seat anchors
- Seat belt warning system

In general, in terms of driving performance, level of comfort and safety, as well as technical characteristics, Nissan Tiida can be considered one of the few optimal solutions in choosing a city car. On Kazan roads, he proved himself a worthy representative of the Japanese family.

Final assessment of the car:

Nissan Tiida has been produced since 2004, it appeared on our market only in 2007. The car is budget, you can buy it anywhere from 300 to 500 thousand, depending on how fresh you want to take it.

Engine compartment

The car has a 1.6 engine, but you can also find cars with 1.8 and 1.5 liters. In general, they are all trouble-free, so you can choose any, but 1.6 will be optimal, because the difference with 1.8 is small in terms of consumption and dynamics, besides, these are not sports cars and there is no point in taking 1.8. As for the boxes, there is either a five-speed manual or a four-speed old automatic, which is insanely reliable.

Minor flaws

First of all, the hood suffers from cars, this is a frequent Nissan problem. All chips immediately turn into mushrooms, the paint swells. And this is true only for the hood, because if chips appear on the wing, then at least the camelina will go, but swelling is not observed. And also cracking chrome, but this is the problem of all cars that have it.

The bumper here hangs "on the snot." But this is a problem for many Nissans and, in principle, for most of the "Japanese", since everything is attached to very frail rivets, so you need to drive more carefully and not cling to the bumper anywhere.

If you came to watch a used Tiida and nothing is knocking on the suspension, then this is a reason to think, because the suspension is the weak point of this car. But you should not be afraid of this, because on average people have enough suspension for 80,000 km of run (4 years), and it is not so expensive.

Trunk

Despite the fact that the Nissan Tiida hatchback is one of the largest in the C class, the trunk here leaves much to be desired, since it is a hatchback. You can’t put a lot here, except maybe a couple of suitcases to go to the airport. Under the floor there is a full-fledged spare wheel, not a stowaway, as in expensive Mercedes, but a full-fledged spare wheel.

Salon

There is not a lot of space in the back, but a lot, almost like in the Skoda Superb, and there is a decent amount of space above your head, and in the legs, but the coolest feature is different. First, the backrest is adjustable in tilt angle. Secondly, the sofa moves back and forth, due to which you can increase the trunk. There is also a rather comfortable armrest with two cup holders. It’s insanely comfortable to sit, but three, most likely, won’t fit in the back seat, because it’s still narrow. There are no air duct deflectors, this, of course, is a minus, but not a big one.

But the front is not so comfortable, because the seats, as if, are not automobile, but as if they simply soldered the chairs that come with the sofa in the kit, with the words: “And so it will do!”. There is no lateral support, the pillow itself is short and raised up.

In general, there is nothing supernatural in terms of configuration:

  • the climate is the same as in all other C classes,
  • heated seats,
  • conventional machine,
  • a radio tape recorder into which you can connect navigation (but the screen is small and navigation is not convenient to use).

About the inconvenience of the ergonomics of the cabin should be said separately. For example, the seat heating buttons are located under the armrest. In order to turn them on, you need to raise the armrest. And if a person does not know about it, then he will not even find these buttons.

In the cabin, the plastic is very creaky, but again, for the C class, this is absolutely normal.

Many owners also have complaints about the steering wheel that is quickly wiping.

On the road: pros and cons

Sometimes the gearshift lever does not reach the end, it must be pushed right there, otherwise the car simply will not turn off.

As for the control and dynamics, for a 1.6 engine it is quite good. The car does not accelerate much, but it is worth considering that this is not a sports car, but only a car for a comfortable ride. Regarding the control: the car is more or less interesting, especially considering that there is a beam at the back and there are no sports settings. Although the Nissan Tiidu leans, it tunes in for a very dynamic ride, and, unfortunately, this engine and gearbox cannot be allowed.

In terms of fuel consumption, it is quite profitable: an average of about 10 liters in the city and about 7 liters on the highway. You can achieve better results, but you have to ride like an older person. Although, if you buy a Nissan Tiida hatchback, then you are, do not deceive anyone, no matter how old you are.

The car is quite capricious about fuel, it is better to fill it with the 95th than the 92nd, although in principle it doesn’t really matter to him. Since a used car participated in the review, then
the owner complains that the exhaust system burns out at the junction, that is, between the cat and the resonator. And here it has already burned out twice in 20,000 km of use, that is, you should also pay attention to this when buying.

Results

A good car if you need to drive around the city, to the country or anywhere else. The only thing is, of course, it is for older people, because it looks very ambiguous, and certainly not stylish, not fashionable and not youthful.

The Nissan Tiida is very practical, quite economical and generally reliable. Box, motor — no complaints at all.

Here are some conclusions that can be drawn from the above:

1. The price ranges from 300 to 500 thousand.

2. The machine is ultra-reliable and ultra-practical because it is one of the largest machines in the C class.

3. When buying, pay attention to the suspension and the hood.

4. Who is the main buyer? Approximate age 35-40 plus, because the car is practical, but, unfortunately, "old-fashioned". This is an extremely ordinary car, very gray in traffic.

There are cars that delight even with their appearance in the picture of some autoportal. There are cars that will never be yours; all you can count on is to see a rare thing at the next auto show. They also produce cars that are quite real, at a price affordable to many, but there is something special, alluring, exciting in them - these are cars that cause orgasmic trembling in the limbs, you want to stop the moment and enjoy driving such vehicles forever.
In addition to those listed, there are also ordinary cars that you can buy, that you can drive, which do not cause crazy delight, but at the same time completely satisfy their owners - like a marital duty that has long ceased to bring pleasure.

Appearance of the Colorado potato beetle

Why Colorado? Don't know. I don’t like any beetles, I don’t see anything attractive in them, even if they beautifully (who uses this word to describe beetles ?!) shimmer in the sun. The angles sticking out in all directions in Tiida resemble an ugly beetle that crawls towards you on the asphalt, shaking its vile antennae. But, I want to pay attention, Tiida's appearance does not cause me the same terrible range of emotions that real natural bugs do.

And after all, it would seem: solutions in the spirit of the Qashqai and X-Trail corporate identity with a V-shaped radiator grill, complex-shaped LED optics, niches for foglights outlined by the same chrome - everything that is familiar and likes in other models, looks on Tiida as if folded from origami paper - angular and rather strange.

Tiida's inner world

Since the appearance did not impress me, then let's look under the hood of this girl. Maybe it is there that hides something for which it is worth owning it.

You can’t even talk about any drive if you don’t drive the engine to cut-offs: a 117-horsepower 1.6-liter engine is hidden under the hood. According to the passport, acceleration to a hundred with a CVT is 11.3 s, it feels like all 15. I won’t say that this is critical for an urban hatchback that claims to be an ordinary, unremarkable representative of its class. Boredom, boredom and once again boredom - you can easily fall into a lethargic dream while driving, but it will definitely be impossible to reproach you for dashing driving! The engine reacts sluggishly to an external stimulus in the form of an accelerator, tastelessly, that is, without grabs and revivals, spinning from top to bottom.

Because of our fuel, the Japanese decided to use a different power unit. Instead of a 1.8-liter engine, a Russian-assembled Tiida (it was produced at the IzhAvto plant) is fitted with a time-tested HR16DE engine (the same is used by a whole brood of Nissans: Juke, Qashqai, Note). Aluminum alloy cylinder block, timing chain drive, port injection and no turbocharging, "direct" injection and complex valve control mechanisms.

The variator is traditional in Nissan style, from Jatco. It is familiar, reliable and does not cause any complaints. This transmission is well tuned, and it selects virtual gears almost flawlessly - regardless of driving style. During our test drive, the CVT deftly adjusted to both a calm driver and a lover to drive, relieving both of the need for manual range selection. Just do not try to "smart" the car with the Sport mode - you will not feel anything but an increase in obsessive noise.

Tiida's suspension is digestible, compared to its competitors, it is somewhere in the middle of the scale - there are representatives with a softer suspension. I cannot say that bumps, pits and potholes are not felt at all in Tiida, but in front of all obstacles I would slow down to 0 km / h.

But I would like to make the braking system less sensitive - every slowdown makes the passengers, who have become enveloping under the enveloping sound of the standard audio system, nod off.

Feelings of owning a Tiida

Tiida borrowed all the internals from the Sentra. The salon is high, the A-pillars are not wide - inside Tiida breathes freely, there is enough space around the driver to swing his arms in all directions, and in order to place a million important little things within reach.

Devices and assignments of all buttons are read and understood even without instructions - everything is intuitively clear.

The crossover fit is one of the notable differences between the Tiida and its competitors. No one in the class has such a high driver's seat. A great solution - getting into your small hatch, feel like a crossover driver. A similar effect is achieved not without high ground clearance, also one of the best in the class - as much as 17 cm! Not all crossovers now can boast of such figures.

Since we are talking about size, the back of the front seat is separated from the rear sofa cushion by an incredible 32 centimeters! Well, just imagine how much space there is in the back! The secret of space on the second row is in the trunk with a volume of only 307 liters versus 360-380 liters for Auris and Kia cee’d hatchbacks. But only this is between us girls, where you can sit cross-legged, imagining yourself in a business class car! If you know what I mean…

Ask: “What difference does it make to me, the driver, what is happening behind there?” I do not agree. Firstly, if this question arose, then most likely you, my dear reader, did not understand my maxim from the previous paragraph. And secondly, the more space the rear passengers have, the more seat settings the driver can have - during the St. Petersburg test drive of the Nissan Tiida, at least four drivers of different build and height were behind the wheel - everyone was able to choose the settings for themselves. By the way, Tiida's seats are like grandmother's chairs in the country - shapeless and overly soft. They definitely lose to the beloved Golf seat, which is already squeezed in the right places - the Volts have such seats, it seems, already from the factory - with recesses for the roundness of any driver.

The tank is only 50 liters (it feels like all 40) - this is very small. With a relatively low consumption of about 7 liters with such a tiny tank, I did not notice the economy at all - I went to the gas station every 2 days and, most importantly, did not travel around the city every day, winding circles in traffic jams. I did not have time to fill a full tank, as he immediately came to an end.

For behavior on the road - "deuce"

A simple car with seemingly correct settings is simply obliged to go straight on a flat road! Even some Frets can do it! But Tiida was probably offended by the indifference on my part and, like a woman, decided to show what she was capable of. And she is able to dangle along the lane to the right, then to the left, now and then leaving the route, constantly wanting to return the steering wheel to a perfectly flat position, in her opinion (our steering wheel was shifted a couple of degrees to the right) position, thereby giving the driver a lot of inconvenience and desire swear. And I’m generally silent about turning anywhere - I still lacked a couple of hands to keep this wayward steering wheel in check.

I suspect that the impossibility of a direct drive, too harsh sensations from encounters with pits and even noise stripes are the result of previous journalists who stumbled the car for 20 thousand mileage to a crooked steering wheel and obvious problems with wheel alignment.

Why you can fall in love with a nondescript quiet

With cars - like with women: nondescript, the brain eats away a little with a teaspoon, colleagues do not faint with envy, does not shine on the podium, but does not scare anyone away, after all, she is smart, family, homely, beloved, does not ask for a lot of money and won't go anywhere. Its. And if Tiida is also your first - you will not find happiness! It's like that. It is comfortable, it is tall, it can ride well if you spur it on well.

After all, not everyone needs cars that take their breath away! There are, for example, taxi drivers for whom the size of the rear seat and the low cost of car depreciation will be the determining factors. There are builders, foremen, repairmen, finishers, etc., who will be happy with good ground clearance, which allows them to drive to remote objects. And don't forget the students who need a rear seat size more than anyone else! The Nissan Tiida is a great utility vehicle for driving, getting on the road, hauling someone or something. It was created for what the car was originally invented for. Only it is more comfortable and more reliable than other utility vehicles whose names are too famous to be named.

The main drawback of Tiida is the 1.6 engine. It is beneficial both to the producer and, admittedly, to the consumer, but it is weak. But other advantages cannot be taken away from Tiida: a roomy interior, equipment, a suitable suspension and sufficient ground clearance. Yes, and a calming effect in general.

Everyone will leave, Golf will remain

Sadly, the golf class is shrinking. Credit Ford Focus has ceased to be a symbol of prosperity and success, the C4 (sales of the sedan are about to begin), Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic, Astra have completely left our market. Of the competitors that have remained afloat, only the rather cheap Kia c’eed, Hyundai i30, and the already mentioned Ford Focus can be distinguished. Other members of the class have already crossed the million mark: 308, Mazda 3, Toyota Auris and the leader of the entire list Golf.

Against this background, Tiida for only 800 thousand rubles looks worthy. Of course, in one sentence the words “total” and “800 thousand rubles” can only be put now, when the price tags for a golf class have sharply jumped over the “1 million” mark. But there is no getting away from this - with such prices you will have to live on. And under these conditions, Nissan Tiida becomes an interesting offer on the market. The only pity is that this offer is no longer on the market.

Main competitive advantage new Nissan Tiida hatchback- large cabin length. This has also become the main advantage of the European twin. Pulsar, which has long been released to the Western market. Between the backs of the first and second rows - 692 mm, much more than other C-class hatchbacks. And even in some cars of class "D" it is more cramped.

The secret is in the size of the wheelbase. Its value is 2700 mm, as in sedan Nissan Almera, whose spacious interior we admired three years ago, when its production started in Togliatti. Of the competitors, only Mazda 3 has such a distance between the axles, but it has a lower roof, especially at the rear.

Another secret of the spaciousness of the cabin is the small size of the luggage compartment, under the floor of which lies a full-size spare tire. But in the back seat of the Tiida, a person of average height can calmly sit cross-legged and even drive for a long time: the novelty has a smooth ride that is not typical for a C-class hatchback.

Of course, the point here is not only in the large size of the wheelbase, but also in the suspension settings: it works perfectly, allowing you not to be afraid of even large irregularities, which are full on Georgian roads. Sometimes a considerable ground clearance also helps out - 155 mm, like Sentra single-platform sedan, and 20 mm more than the Pulsar. And, of course, our hatchback does not have a “skirt” under the front bumper, which is so easily and insultingly torn off both in Russian and Georgian “directions”.

"Tiida" differs from "Pulsar" not only in increased ground clearance and the missing "skirt", but also in rims, rear-view mirror housings and increased depth of door handle niches. The rest is the same view, with the characteristic for the new Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail V-shaped element of the radiator grille, the contours of the rear window and optics. It is interesting that outwardly Tiida is much closer to crossovers than to the same Sentra sedan, although inside, especially in the front of the cabin, they are almost identical.

The quality of finishing materials is at the average level, all buttons are quickly located, there are no questions. The only "but" - inserts, painted aluminum. In my opinion, they are as vulgar as the carbon-look styling in cars that have nothing to do with motorsport. However, this is a matter of taste. And the obvious drawback is the front seats, standing too high, with soft material inside and shortish pillows.

Tiida has only one engine, the same as the Sentra, petrol 1.6 developing 117 hp and 158 Nm, combined with either a CVT or a 5-speed "mechanics". Already from these introductory notes, it is clear that the car is unlikely to impress with accelerations driving into the backs of the seats. And so it happens: when you press the accelerator pedal, the tachometer needle does not take off, but goes to the 4000 rpm mark. To cheer up the car and get acceptable acceleration, you have to use the CVT sport mode, then the engine spins up faster. And when climbing steep hills, which are enough both in Tbilisi and its environs, I use the L mode, limiting the gear ratio.

On the second day, I take a car with a manual transmission. The ride becomes more fun, but the dynamics are not impressive. And the switching mechanism does not shine with clarity - with a long-stroke clutch pedal, it’s better to forget about a quick change, especially if you don’t want to listen to the crunch of synchronizers.

But both versions, both with "mechanics" and with variator, please with economy. According to the manufacturer's data - 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers in mixed mode, while the real consumption on Georgian roads is about 7 liters. And one more advantage of the car is the silence in the cabin, which is also unusual for a compact-class hatchback. It can be seen (that is, heard) that the designers of "Tiida" did a good job of soundproofing. Although the acoustic comfort was quite high in the previous generation.

The steering settings (the steering wheel is “long”) also convince that the developers imagined a calm driver behind the wheel, and not a “driver”, which somewhat does not correspond to the portrait “painted” by Nissan’s Russian marketers - an active city dweller or city dweller 30-45 years old. Although, of course, it is clear that they needed to “divorce” the Tiida audience with potential buyers Sentra, which should be practical and respectable people from 35 to 55 years old, mostly men with families.

What they guessed with was the name of the test drive - "Territory of Comfort". And this is not about Georgia, but about the car itself. It’s really comfortable to ride in it, and you don’t even want to rush anywhere - which is incomprehensible to the local population, flying through solid roads even on rusty Zhiguli and Volga, despite the declared severity of the local police. Ponty is more expensive than money ... _83C2731

Outcome

Ilya Pimenov, editor:

Of course, each fruit has its own vegetable, and Nissan Tiida is able to become the only and indispensable for that very calm head of the family of 35–55 years old, who is no longer chasing anyone or anything. Unless, of course, he is satisfied with the price, by no means the lowest for this class. The same couple of Korean models, Hyundai i30 and Kia cee "d, are cheaper than the "Japanese" in most trim levels - although they are not so spacious inside.
