Working surface The brake rim must be flat and smooth. If there are scallops, scratches, gouges or dents, the rim should be turned or sanded. Minor Defects remove by scraping and polishing. The size of the ledges at the joints of the brake rims should not exceed 0.1 mm. For large displacements, the protruding edge of the joint should be machined flush or the protrusion with a radius of at least 100 m should be rolled up. Oil or water must not get on the working surface of the brake rims;
  2. The value of the runout of the brake rim with an indicator mounted on a rigid base in two or three sections along the width of the rim. The indicator can be mounted on parts of the brake actuator, if available. full confidence in the immobility of these parts during the measurement. The speed of the brake rim during the measurement should be 0.2-0.3 m/s. In this case, it is desirable that the brake does not participate in the work, and the required speed is provided by the electric drive system of the machine, since the operation of the brake can introduce a measurement error, even if the indicator is not fixed to the brake actuator. For machines in operation, the allowable runout value can be taken larger and be up to 0.8 mm for machines with a drum diameter of up to 3.5 m.
  3. heating temperature. Excessive heat can be caused by poor fit of the brake pads, improper adjustment of the brake actuator, incomplete braking of the machine due to incorrect adjustment of the brake actuator, and bulging of the rim (due to local heating). The appearance of tarnishing colors on the rim and burning of the pads is unacceptable.

From technical condition The reliability of the brake, the durability of the brake pads largely depend on the brake rim. The working surface of the brake rim must be clean and smooth. As a result of operation, roughness scratches, cracks at the junction of the two halves of the rim may appear on the brake rim.

In the presence of scratches and roughness, the rim is polished. If cracks are found in the welded joints of the halves of the brake rim weld the cracks are removed in place and welded again.

When ellipse appears, the brake rim is machined and then polished. Elipse rim or local bulges adversely affect the operation of the brake system.
