Test- drive range Rover Velar ➤ We sit behind the wheel of the new "seductive" Range Rover Velar, and it proves to be very capable on the road common use as well as off-road

Everything Jaguar Land Rover touches turns to gold. But with such an award-winning success and sales growth, it's very hard to consistently expect success and growth from every new model launch. So can the new range rover Velar to prove that the company still has a magic wand?

Model range Velar place between the model Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Slim LED head optics and taillights that wrap further down the sides of the car, a more sloping grille and retractable door handles that tuck flush – update the look of the Range Rover family.

It is a clean and uncluttered style with fine detailing such as the fold line running from front light to the rear through the extended side vents. The car has a minimalist design and minimalist architecture.

Land Rover calls it "reductionism" and it's even clearer in what is one of the most stunning interiors we've ever seen. The traditional clean horizontal line is traversed by a center section running from the center console all the way to the all-new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system.

These dual 10" touchscreens are both a work of art and genius. When they are off, they hide the black panels, adding to the minimalist interior. But when the car is on, the panels come to life with bright displays high definition, and the top unit rotates forward 30 degrees to greet you.

Embedded at the bottom of the bottom screen are two large dials with their own LED displays and a central volume knob. The lower monitor controls heating and ventilation, as well as an improved terrain system, with two sets working with either setting. The top screen will run the navigation, phone, and audio systems, while both screens are easy to use, rolling from one control to the next.

Touchscreens are not only beautiful and stylish, but Land Rover's work in making sure they're usable has paid off, too. This is a truly intuitive system that connects seamlessly to your smartphone. There's an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot, and the car learns about your routes and offers options to avoid traffic or help you find a parking space. There are three Meridian stereos to choose from.

But not all news is good. Land Rover (and Jaguar) still can't help if you want to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. In this regard, the company clearly lags behind its competitors.

This also applies to autonomous technologies. Undoubtedly, the Range Rover Velar has adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, driving assistance system, automatic parking and recognition road sign. But, for example, on the Volvo XC60 it has fewer functions for automatic driving, but it is still one of the safest. This car also offers a beautifully built body, stylish interior and an easy-to-use touchscreen - but it's all a lot cheaper and an advantage when it comes to purchasing and maintenance costs.

On the subject that the price range starts at £44,830 for the Velar base model with a 178bhp four-cylinder diesel engine. It's fairly reasonably stocked, but if your dealer can't convince you to go with the £50,420 Model S with the big wheels, leather seats, Meridian sound system and navigation, they don't do their job.

The SE is even more expensive at £3,390, while the HSE throws in another £6,500 for lavish luxury – unless you buy the First Edition model. If you want to look sportier, the R-Dynamic will set you back £2,420 more.

Other engines include two more diesels: a 2.0-liter with 234 hp, as well as 296 hp. - 3.0 V6. There are three versions of petrol engines: 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 3.0-liter V6 with 247 hp. (again with 296 bhp) or a supercharged 3.0-liter flagship V6 with 375 bhp.

We suspect the 234 hp diesel. the SE version may well be the best option in the range, but we're currently testing a 3.0-litre R-Dynamic HSE specification diesel that costs £70,530. It's nice and well equipped but not cheap.

Our test route in Norway was devoid of motorways, so we'll have to wait and see how the Velar performs on expressways in cruising mode, but it appears to be an admirably refined car. You will only know that it is a V6 diesel under the hood when you accelerate very strongly. On big wheels and tires, you will notice some road noise, although this is mainly dependent on the quietness of the engine and low level wind noise, which provides excellent sound insulation.

For a car weighing two tons, the performance is excellent. The almighty push of 700 Nm of torque makes the diesel that generates more fun than the one that produces petrol model supercharged. Throttle response is good too.

The Range Rover Velar is built on the same chassis as the Jaguar F-Pace, but our car is equipped with an additional air suspension. Velar still feels pretty confident, but shrugged off blows and holes with contempt. Steering quite informative, but with a slightly sluggish approach.

As you'd expect, with Terrain Response settings, this car will handle off-road much better than the vast majority of owners can handle the plethora of advanced assistance trickster systems found on today's crossovers.

The Velar measures 4,803mm in length and is slightly longer than the F-Pace, while the 2,874mm wheelbase is identical. The 632-liter boot of the Range Rover Velar is marginally inferior to the 650 liters of the Jaguar, but the interior quality of the newcomer is a big step forward.

Given the hefty prices, we were disappointed with the passenger space in the back of the Velar. If the driver is tall enough to move the seat far away, then the tall passenger behind the driver will not sit very comfortably - the knees will rest against the back of the seat. In fact, it's not much better than some of the new ones. compact crossovers. We expected more.

2017 Range Rover Velar - Conclusion

No wonder you'll be waiting over three months if you order the Range Rover Velar now - it's one of the most coveted SUVs you can buy. It's modern, super-stylish and will pamper you with an impressive level of comfort and refinement - and it has all the same off-road capabilities you'll find on the Land Rover Discovery. It's not as cheap, however, and many rivals offer better technology and more passenger space. Regardless, we have no doubt that the Velar will be another massive hit for Jaguar Land Rover.

Frontal aerodynamic drag crossover body is 0.32 Cx, and this is the best coefficient among all representatives of the Range Rover line. The developers were able to achieve this indicator thanks to an almost perfectly flat bottom, the design of door handles (they hide when the car speed exceeds 8 km / h), as well as smooth outlines body elements. According to the developers, the thoughtful design of the spoiler ensures the cleanliness of the glass of the fifth door, as water and dirt are simply blown away by a powerful air stream.

Interior design and its technical stuffing

At first glance, the interior of the Range Rover Vilar may seem a little rustic. But a detailed examination helps to understand how erroneous the first opinion can be. In the interior you can see a huge number latest developments. In fact, there are practically no analog controls inside the British SUV. all sorts of electronic systems controlled by touch screens and panels.

A multifunctional steering wheel is installed in front of the driver, on which touch panels are also used. The instrument panel is virtual, it has a 12.3-inch color display. But in basic version uses a more familiar analog instrument cluster with a 5.0-inch screen trip computer. There is also a projection screen in the car, which displays data on the windshield.

The center console consists of a pair of touch screen displays with a diagonal of 10 inches, and the angle of the top can change. It is designed to control the infotainment system. And the one that is installed below is responsible for the operation of climate control (four zones). It is also designed to control various off-road modes of the Range Rover Velar. The crossover is equipped with a premium sound system with 17 or 23 speakers. There is also a multi-colored LED backlight.

The front seats received high-quality lateral support, a thoughtful profile, as well as electrical adjustments, heating, massage and ventilation systems (the latter are offered as an option). To get to high-level competitions, such as Wimbledon, you have to go through the toughest selection. With cars the same parsley. For example, in the niche of medium-sized premium crossovers long dominated by the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK / GLC. Then the Porsche Macan joined their company. It would seem that no one else will get to this closed tournament. However, the Jaguar F‑Pace managed to dilute the German party, having passed through the sieve of qualifications in the face, which was taken to the largest motor shows.

The Range Rover Velar fired without qualification at all - it entered the championship with a wild card, a special sports invitation. An unprecedented thing: the British did not bother with the prototype and immediately showed the world production car. It looks like a concept car, on which numbers were hung, than our editor-in-chief (ZR, No. 5, 2017). The breed is felt in each line, and under the varnish of the body - the same iQ platform as the "f-pace".

Velar's body is 81% aluminum. The suspension is also made of (double-lever front and multi-link Integral Link rear). But even if we ignore the pedigree, design and engineering refinements, this Range Rover is damn good, as I saw on the roads of Norway.

Their union is wonderful!

In politics, it is considered bad form if a high-ranking husband and wife work in the same department. In business, everything is different - spouses working in tandem bring more benefits. In the case of Velar, this is exactly what happened: Massimo Frascella was responsible for the exterior design, and Amy Frascella was responsible for the selection of colors and finishing materials. The result of the work of the Italian couple is magnificent: a stylish, avant-garde car! All classmates seemed to have become old-fashioned, even the status Range Rover Sport turned pale. The proportions were especially successful: I associate Velar with a coupe.

Retractable door handles are class. But you take the handle ... and you feel the backlash. And it's on new car! And what will happen in five years?

The salon is a feast for epicurean gadget lovers. The entire center console is given over to two ten-inch touch screens. Brightness, resolution and animation are no worse than those of iPads. The logic of use is at a high level, and the speed is provided by a quad-core processor. Wi-Fi router allows you to connect up to eight gadgets.

It is clear that the screens are instantly covered with fingerprints. But something else worried me: drop a phone or a bottle of soda on an inclined display - and a skiff. The English say that glass is strong. But they can't say otherwise!

Test Velars are all equipped with a virtual instrument panel. It is bright, elegant and allows you to change the configuration of the scales. But this change occurs twenty seconds after you gave the command. Against this background, the imperfection of the voice acting of the navigator (“after twenty-one kilometers, turn right”) is just an innocent prank. The projection screen works clearly, in addition, the picture is supplemented with information about the playing track or radio station.

Build quality? Better than in the related Jaguar: both materials are richer, and “jambs” like flash are not found. And for a surcharge of 376,000 rubles, as an alternative to standard leather, they offer ... fabric upholstery! Say it doesn't happen? It happens if the fabric is the Danish brand Kvadrat. It contains a third of wool, which makes it extremely comfortable to sit on “furniture” covered with such material. I especially liked the soft headrests, which I rubbed like a cat on the owner's leg. Except he didn't purr.

Ingenium engine - power machines

ruler Velar engines completely adopted from "ef-peace". Open the range of four-cylinder aluminum: two diesel engines (180 or 240 "horses") and two gasoline (250 or 300 hp) They will have the lion's share of demand. At the request to give the key to the 300-strong modification (this engine is the freshest in the range), the British lowered their eyes. As it turned out, only V6 versions were brought to Norway - diesel (300 hp) and gasoline (340 hp).

Gasoline "six" starts up casually - without a rolling roar, which announces the surroundings of F‑Pace. Ideology! Velar was sharpened for comfort. If you want more sporty notes - take Jaguar. However, Velar starts energetically and fits into the declared 5.7 seconds to hundreds. Competitors with 3-liter “sixes” are a little faster: the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 (367 hp) spurts up to a hundred in 4.7 seconds, and the Porsche Macan S (340 hp) and Audi SQ5 (365 hp). s.) - for 5.4. I am sure that the appearance of a hot version of Velar SVR is not far off.

Where there is no lag, it is in the smoothness of the ride. Even on a hard comb, this Range Rover evokes a sense of levitation that the Jaguar can't. Because - which is not allowed for the Jaguar even for an extra charge.

The chassis provides a good balance of comfort and handling. At first, the steering wheel seemed unreasonably light, but thanks to the Configurable Dynamics system, which allows you to change driving settings, I was able to “weight” it. The suspension was left clamped - so the buildup on road waves is less felt.

In straight sections, the car flies with reinforced concrete confidence, and in high-speed turns it is not averse to wag its tail a little - this is a feature all-wheel drive transmission IDD (Intelligent Driveline Dynamics) with multi-plate clutch in front wheel drive. Under normal conditions, all the thrust goes to the rear, but if necessary, the clutch is blocked, stabilizing the machine. Increased confidence is given by the automatic locking of the rear differential, which distributes traction between the wheels: you can “open” earlier in the turn. In general, everything is fine, but the Porsche Macan will still taste better.

The adaptive cruise control works as it should: the Velar follows the lead vehicle like a thread following a needle. But the lane retention system does not always see the markings, allowing you to drive into the oncoming lane or the roadside.

Diesel Velar is another planet. I got tired of driving quickly, although 700 newton meters is a force! Acceleration is somehow crumpled, with turbo hitches - after all, here is a turbocharger, and not drive supercharger, like a gasoline "six".

In addition to decent economy (an average of 10 l / 100 km), I liked the diesel car more than the petrol one only because the rev limiter works softly and delicately, while the petrol V6 convulses for three seconds.

Over the mountains, over the valleys

Norway is used to being called the country of the fjords, but there are plenty of other sights here as well. For example, the picturesque Sunnmer Alps in the west of the country. On many peaks, the snow does not melt even in summer. Upstairs, to the "sugar loaves", numerous cars of tourists stretch.

But they are driving on asphalt, and we have to make an “ascent” along an abandoned rocky path. Challenge!

Ersatz SUV is not about Velar. I am translating the Terrain Control system (it adapts the settings of the accelerator, transmission and stabilization system to different road conditions) into the mountain mode and, “without waiting for peritonitis”, I give the command to the air suspension to raise the body. A few seconds, and the clearance increased from the standard 205 to 251 mm.

The first minutes were spent on zeroing - I didn’t immediately get used to the fact that the Velar passes through huge stones without even striking them with its belly. Added a move.

The suspension successfully swallowed the gullies that came across. So most big problem on this stage my ears became - they were laid from the height difference.

I drove down, turning on the ASPC (All Surface Progress Control) system - this is a kind of off-road cruise control. Set 10 km/h and drive. It would seem, just turn the steering wheel! It didn't work out. During jumps on stones, the electronics went crazy and released the brakes. After a moment's hesitation, he drove on himself, without the help of electronics.

Be that as it may, in terms of patency and adaptability to off-road Velar ahead of the mentioned competitors. But it's also more expensive!

Basic Velar goal like a falcon. Want air suspension? Prepare 122,400 rubles. For an active rear differential, you need to pay 61,200 rubles, for Terrain Response - 11,300, for ASPC - 26,100, for Configurable Dynamics - 14,000, for adaptive cruise control - 99,500 rubles. And for full size spare tire will have to pay: 25 300 rubles. The most expensive options are matrix laser headlights and a matte finish: 198,600 and 156,500 rubles, respectively.

The price of the car in ceremonial versions is approaching eight million. So it is unlikely that Velar will take away many buyers from German competitors. Rather, he will gobble up the Range Rover Sport! And this is the biggest headache for the British. I wonder if a neophyte can beat a classic?

Whole photoshoot

The new Range Rover Velar is the fourth vehicle in the luxury family Range SUVs Rover. It occupies a niche between Evoque models and Sport and becomes a dangerous competitor to the German class regulars: Mercedes Benz GLC, BMW X3 and Audi Q5

Reductionism, according to the Range Rover Velar press release, is a step away from deliberate complexity to simple solutions in order to highlight the true advantages of the model. It is in this vein that the appearance of the novelty is developed. The designers spent months sculpting the SUV's plasticine mock-up, cutting off millimeters from the profile of the body panels to achieve the perfect play of light and shadow. They cut off everything superfluous, as when cutting a diamond. And they turned out, I’m not afraid of this word, a masterpiece: the Velar exterior does not have any complex surfaces, but at the same time it attracts the eye and fascinates with the harmonious appearance.

The creators of the model plunged so deeply into this very reductionism that they even deprived the car of the usual door handles: they, they say, violate the cleanliness of the body surfaces. The handles of the novelty are made flush with the doors and slide out at the touch of a button. True, I immediately had fears: what will happen if a finger gets under the handle when locking the locks? Will she pinch him? And how will all this work in the winter after, for example, freezing rain?

But representatives of the company dispelled doubts - the mechanism is as safe and well thought out as possible. So, if the handle encounters an obstacle when sinking, it will immediately stop moving and continue it only after the obstacle has been removed. Of course, I tested it: I pressed the button for locking the locks, put my finger in the slot, and ... nothing terrible happened. The pen did not press on me properly - even a child would not be hurt. And as soon as the finger was pulled out, the handle closed. As for freezing, the brand's engineers told me that they poured water on the doors and froze them to a very low temperatures However, the mechanism still continued to work as if nothing had happened. Well, for now, let's take their word for it and ... wait for the winter. And then we'll test again.

Proven Solutions

Technically, the Range Rover Velar is identical to the company's sister crossover Jaguar F-Pace. They share the same wheelbase, although the Range Rover has a longer rear overhang. This was done not so much for the sake of the volume of the luggage compartment, but for reasons of aesthetics: a long rear overhang, combined with a short front end, endows the car with classic proportions.

And equipped Velar richer than the F-Pace. So, the representative of the "family of cats" is not available for air suspension, but for the Range Rover - please. Although there are conventional springs - however, only in the initial versions. And for Velar, you can order a rear differential lock, because this car is designed to move not only on asphalt, but also off-road. And of course, it is equipped with a proprietary Terrain Response system with many options for settings for various types surfaces and terrain. The air suspension allows you to increase the ground clearance to an impressive 251 mm (from the standard 205 mm), and the fording depth is 650 mm (with a spring suspension, the ground clearance is 213 mm, the ford is 600 mm).

For the novelty, 4-cylinder (2 l) and 6-cylinder (3 l) power units running on gasoline and diesel fuel are offered. Gasoline engines develop 250 and 300 hp. in a 2-liter version and 380 hp. - in 3 liter. Turbodiesels also have two power options for a volume of 2 liters - 180 and 240 hp, and the 3-liter version develops 300 hp. The gearbox for all modifications is automatic 8-band.

Buttons are evil?

The pursuit of simplicity continues in the cabin. Where have all the buttons gone? Instead of them - touch displays. And if to virtual instruments and we are already starting to get used to the central screen of the interface, the touchscreen on the center console is still a novelty. The glossy black panel has three “twists”, the central one is responsible for the volume, and the side ones can perform various functions that are selected using the touch keys located nearby.

So, by rotating these “rings”, you can adjust the temperature, adjust the intensity of heating and ventilation of the seats, or switch modes that are responsible for driving performance car. At the same time, all the action is reflected on the touch screen with the help of great graphics. By the way, it's done! Finally, the quality of the "picture" in English car not inferior to the reference in this class "Germans". The keys on the steering wheel, by the way, are also touch-sensitive. For example, to increase or decrease the volume of music, you need to make a circular motion with your finger on the "round" on the left spoke.

As for me personally, I am wary of all this sensory economy, because while driving, virtual keys cannot be used by touch - you have to, albeit not for long, be distracted from the road. In addition, it is not known how all this will work in hard frost after a long stop. Representatives of the brand assure that everything will be fine, except that the reaction time to touch will slow down. But even in the heat, responsiveness is not instantaneous, although the delays are small and do not cause irritation. And of course, to drive with gloves touch screen will not work. But it's summer now, and even in Norway, where the test drive took place, it's pretty warm.

Otherwise, Velar feels - real Range Rover. Moreover, it is much closer to the “older” Sport model than to the “younger” Evoque. Straight and wide, the leather-wrapped front fascia with thin air vents gives a feeling of spaciousness, driving position is high and visibility is excellent. The seats seemed to me harsh and not particularly anatomical, but over time, as they say, I sat down and felt great during the entire test. I inform fans of gadgets that the car provides 4G Internet and a Wi-Fi hotspot that allows you to connect up to eight devices, USB ports and sockets are available.

The second row is relatively spacious, but nothing more. There are cars in this class that offer more legroom. But here is a comfortable sofa, which also has an electrically adjustable backrest. And here luggage compartment very large for its segment: when unfolding the rear sofa, its volume increases from an impressive 673 liters to an almost bottomless 1731 liters. There is also a special hatch for skis, and the contactless opening of the fifth door makes it easier to load heavy luggage. The Velar, like the latest Land Rover Discovery, also comes with a water-resistant, shock-resistant wristband that allows you to lock your car while leaving the keys inside.

Do not hurry!

The organizers of the test drive warned that in Norway the fines for speeding are huge and there can be no talk of any +20 km / h, as in Russia. After that, they provided me with the most powerful modifications of the novelty: with a 300-horsepower turbodiesel and 380-horsepower gasoline unit. That is, you can accelerate on them up to ... 80 km / h! There were simply no roads to move faster. However, as it turned out later, more is not needed. Because the car does not provoke violation speed limit.

Starting with petrol version, equipped with a mechanical supercharger driven by the engine crankshaft and, accordingly, without a turbo pause. Indeed, the engine pulls immediately from idle. Acceleration is smooth “from top to bottom”, and the engine responds gently to pressing the accelerator pedal even in “dynamic” mode. AND automatic transmission gears work smoothly, not in a hurry. As a result, the car is perceived as calm, despite the well-trained "voice" power unit. A bit of excitement can only be obtained in the tunnel, if you open the windows and “turn off the gas”, enjoying the pleasant sound of the compressor engine.

On a winding highway, you also don’t want to go fast. The steering is quite sharp (a little more than 2.5 turns from lock to lock) and accurate, and it has an order of information, but the car is perceived as heavy in turns, although the rolls are not so great. Even the air suspension “squeezed” into the “dynamic” mode does not provide this SUV sports habits. However, Velar is controlled reliably and correctly. Actually, this is how a Range Rover car should move, it's just that its swift appearance confused me. If you go calmer, everything will fall into place.

The air suspension was unexpectedly stiff. But it's no wonder on the optional 22-inch wheels with low-profile "duct tape" instead of rubber (despite the Velar being equipped with 18-inch wheels as standard). They look, of course, beautiful, but the practical value tends to zero. Yes, and the rumble from these tires is not weak.

Therefore, when the organizers gave me a ride uphill on a rocky dirt road, I began to seriously fear for the safety of rubber and wheels. However, despite the unsuitable "shoes", Velar climbed up effortlessly, not even demanding to switch to "off-road" mode. The return journey also went smoothly thanks to the downhill assistance system: you sit with your legs crossed, and the car itself controls the speed of the exit. Perhaps, in this class, hardly anyone can drive off-road better.

Towards the end of the test, I switch to a 300-horsepower turbodiesel modification. Oh, I like this engine better! There are almost no vibrations, the sound is noble and the thrust is amazing. But the suspension turned out to be not as assembled as that of the gasoline version: delays appeared in the control reactions, and the accuracy of following the trajectory deteriorated. That being said, the ride is no better, despite the less extreme, though still very large, 21-inch wheels. However, again, if you do not approach this Velar modification with “sports car” standards, there will be no complaints about it.

So, this is a typical Range Rover, able to drive not only on asphalt, but also on quite serious off-road, for which SUVs are loved. English brand. The ability to "tumble" into turns on high speed they are not required. Those who love honed asphalt habits are buying other cars that are much inferior in versatility to the Range Rover. And that versatility comes at a cost. For the initial modifications (250 hp, gasoline and 180 hp, diesel), dealers ask from 3,880,000 rubles, and the most powerful, 380-horsepower version will cost at least 5,253,000 rubles. The first commercial copies of the new model will begin to arrive in Russia in October 2017.

This test drive video is dedicated to the Range Rover Velar. This new crossover, you can say - an SUV. It occupies an intermediate position between the Evoque and Land Rover Sport. It is the same size as the F-pace it is based on. It turned out more luxurious and innovative. "Live" Velar will appear in Russia in September. Although base price declared from 3.8 million, top versions will reach - 7.8 million rubles.

Appearance

Our video review format allows everyone to appreciate the simply fantastic appearance of the Land Rover Velar. It is the quintessence of Land Rover design. Even in a test drive, the Land Rover Velar looks like a concept car, like a model that is shown at exhibitions, but does not drive on the roads. This is a production model that really sells and drives. Of course, this is hard to believe when you look at the shape and perfect door handles.

Front and rear mounted innovative LED optics. Moreover, if earlier they simply installed LEDs, now they have developed branded LEDs, including a laser light source. And Velar has just such a light. Naturally, this is an option that you will have to pay generously for, and it really is worth it. The appearance with such headlights and, most importantly, road lighting, is fantastic. Land Rover Velar is able to adapt to the light beam, as well as track passing and oncoming traffic.

And in terms of design - superfluous, which was not needed in the car, was removed here. It is simply full of ingenious simplicity. On the other hand, there are many aerodynamic elements, scenery and this car looks elegant.

Suspension

The car has either spring or air suspension. It comes standard with a V6 engine and can also be installed on a 4-cylinder engine. Chassis tuning is done in such a way that it becomes clear that the car is designed for comfort. There is no huge difference between the modes. Essentially adapted light platform from Jaguar, which is improved for air suspension.

Compared to others Land models Rover is a big difference: rides better, but body sway is very felt.

Interior

There is new system Touch Pro Duo, which combines two large 5-inch displays. New generation of multimedia. Now we have two displays made with a mirror coating, similar to those on smartphones. It doesn’t look very good on camera, everything is reflected and you see your hand, stabilizer or attachment.

In front of my eyes, on the contrary, the monitor is bright and contrasting, and even the bright sun does not distract. You can adjust the angle of inclination. As the test drive showed, the electronics work well, but the performance is almost lacking. There is a slight delay on pressing.

The main feature of the Range Rover Velar 2017 is a large display that allows you to control several systems at once. Depending on which menu you are in, it shows a different picture and controls. At the top of the menu, where there is climate control (here you can select and adjust the temperature and other characteristics), seats (you can turn on heating, massage, if you have one), control system (modes that are available, you can choose them. The washer allows you to change their).

But the greater the load, the more phones connected, the more more systems activated, by worse system works.

Specular reflections are very dirty. And there is a big risk of damaging the screen, and it only changes with the entire block. In the test, we calculated how much it costs, but no protection or special coating for electronics is provided. True, there is no effect on the monitor, except for fingers. You can drop your keys or phone on the bottom screen and scratch it. This will be a problem. There are a lot of transparent surfaces and the Land Rover Vilar will obviously be very picky about how you look after it.

Range Rover Vilar has new panel devices, in fact, its next generation. Made buttons on the steering wheel with a mirror surface, which are rubberized inside. The only thing that spoils the impression is that the system itself slows down a little. The manipulators are complex and when driving there is a risk of missing and poking around in the menu for a very long time.

At the same time, very a large number of instrument panel options. You can choose from a classic, a large monitor with navigation, and a sporty version.

Also, a test drive showed some problems with soundproofing. On the one hand, it is very quiet, although there are no double windows and, in general, there are almost no aerodynamic sounds. But on the other hand, the main problem is the rumble from tires with a diameter of 20, 21 or 22 inches. Especially from 22 inches. And on the pavement with an innovative coating (for the most part, Russian is just like that), it becomes simply indecent.

Salon

The video shows that the car is very quality finish. A huge amount of expensive materials - leather, aikantara. These are separate options and you will have to pay for them, but the interior looks luxurious. There are also strange things. Behind - a button that allows you to adjust the inclination of the back rear seat. Expensive music and Kevlar trim.

Vilar has a large number of engine modifications. There are six of them: a two-liter four-cylinder (gasoline and diesel), V 6, a three-liter (gasoline and diesel). The ZF eight-speed doesn't really run very fast, and even the super-powerful 380-horsepower engine lacks traction. But on a diesel engine, traction is much better. First of all, due to the fact that you do not need to switch. There is enough traction, you can even go in one gear.

Conclusion

Short summary: Maybe not as functional as it could be, but it looks just fine. Ground clearance is one of the largest in the class when it comes to the pneumatic version (it's 251 mm).
