Replacing the head unit 2 din. Installation of car radios

Replacing the head unit 2 din. Installation of car radios

You decided to connect the radio yourself, but when you saw the number of wires that come out of it, you were afraid that you couldn’t handle it? In fact, there is nothing wrong here, and in this article we will figure out how to connect the radio in the car.

What can be encountered if the car radio is not connected correctly?

This is not to say that for the correct installation of the radio, you do not need to have any skills at all. It is desirable to have at least an initial experience in connecting electrical devices, but this is not a prerequisite; following the instructions, a person will be able to complete the installation without any experience. To understand whether everything was done correctly, it is worth monitoring the operation of the radio. A sign of an error will be the presence of the following factors:

  • The radio turns off when the volume is increased.
  • When the ignition is turned off, the radio settings are lost.
  • The radio tape recorder drains the battery in the off state.
  • The audio signal is noticeably distorted, especially when listening at high volume.

In very rare situations, it is not the one who connected, but the seller who sold the low-quality product that is to blame. Of course, this option cannot be ruled out, but you still need to double-check the connection diagram.

Size and types of car radios

Universal radios have a standard size, it can be 1 - DIN (height 5 cm, width 18 cm) and 2 DIN. (height 10 cm, width 18 cm.) If you change the radio from a large to a small one (from 1-DIN to 2-DIN), you will need to purchase a special pocket that will cover the missing din. By connecting, these radios have all the same connector, its name is ISO or it is also called the euro connector.

1-DIN radio tape recorder

Radio size 2 - DIN

1-DIN radio pocket

Regular radios are installed on cars from the factory, and have a non-standard size, in this case there are two options for installing the radio. The first is the simplest, you purchase the same head unit and install it, it fits in size and connects to standard connectors. But the cost of these radio tape recorders often has an inadequate price. And if you find a budget option, then with a 100% probability it will be China, which is not particularly famous for its sound quality and reliability.

The second option is to install the “Universal” radio in place of the standard one, but for this you will need an adapter frame, which is an adapter from the standard dimensions of the radio to universal ones, i.e. 1 or 2 DIN. the frame performs a decorative role, covering extra holes.

Hint for TOYOTA owners. For most cars of this brand, the head unit has a size of 10 by 20 cm. In this case, you can search for “Toyota radio spacers”, they are 1 cm in size. 2 - DIN, to install 1 - DIN you still need to buy a pocket.

Radio connection.

There are many cars, and each of them can use its own set of connectors for connecting such equipment. Broadly speaking, there are three options:

  1. The first option is the most favorable. You already have a chip in your car, to which everything is connected correctly, i.e. all speakers, power wires, antenna wires are connected to this chip, and everything is connected correctly. This happens, but unfortunately very rarely. This suggests that you are lucky, you just connect your brand new radio tape recorder to this chip, and everything works for you.
  2. The necessary wires are wired and connected, while the socket at the radio is different from the car plug.
  3. There is no output of the power wires or it was done incorrectly.

With the first paragraph, everything is clear. When the socket of the device does not match the connector, you will need to use an adapter. Despite the fact that these connectors are most often individual for each model, many companies practice supplying a separate ISO adapter. If there is no adapter either, or if its format is not suitable in this case, you can either purchase such an adapter or twist the wires yourself. Of course, the second step is longer, more complex and risky. Only technical centers with experience in such procedures are engaged in this, so before you connect the radio in the car in this way, you need to think it over very well.

Connecting the ISO Adapter - Toyota

If you want to do the twisting yourself, you need to check the correspondence of the wires on the radio and the connector of the machine. Only if the colors match, you can disconnect the battery and disconnect the auto and audio system connector.

How to connect a car radio and not get tangled in wires? It is recommended to bite off the rest after connecting the connector to the radio. All connections are soldered and insulated. If the wires do not match, you will need to dial them with a tester or multimeter, as well as a 9-volt battery, you may still need to lay those wires that are not enough to connect. Ringing is necessary to determine the polarity of a pair of wires. When testing the loudspeaker, wires are connected to the battery, after which you need to look at the position of the diffuser - if it comes out, then the polarity is correct, if it is pulled in, you need to correct the polarity to the correct one. Thus, each wire is marked.

Connected ISO connector

ISO - connector

Deciphering the color designation of wires

1. The minus of the battery is painted black, the wire is marked GND.
2. The battery plus is always yellow, indicated by the BAT marking.
3. The plus of the ignition switch is designated ACC and is red.
4. Left front speaker wires are white and marked FL. The minus has a stripe.
5. Right front speaker wires are grey, marked FR. The minus has a stripe.
6. Left rear speaker wires are grey, marked RL. The minus has a stripe.
7. The wires of the right rear speaker are purple, the marking is RR. The minus has a stripe.

How to connect the car radio?

First you need to purchase all the necessary wires. Wires must be pure oxygen-free copper and silicone-coated. The yellow and black wires are power wires, the section of these wires should be more than 2.5mm. For acoustic wires and aac (red), wires with a cross section of 1.2mm are suitable. and more. Try to avoid a large number of twists, the ideal option is where there will be none at all, because. twists add extra resistance and this negatively affects the sound quality and volume.

Wiring diagram for radio and speakers

All radios have a black wire for battery negative, yellow for battery positive, and red for ignition switch positive. The car radio connection scheme is as follows - first it is better to connect the yellow and black wires, moreover, to the battery, which will allow you to get high-quality sound.
You will definitely need to install a fuse, at a distance of 40 cm. The fuse must correspond to a minimum value of 10 A. The red wire is connected to the circuit that is powered after turning the ACC key. By connecting the red and yellow wires together to the positive of the battery, the radio will not be affected by the ignition, but the battery will be discharged faster. Powerful radios have four pairs of wires, each of which has its own marking. When connecting the radio to the car, the polarity may be erroneously determined - nothing bad will happen here, unlike grounding to minus to ground. Speakers have either two terminals, basically the speaker connection scheme is as follows: a wide terminal is a plus, and a narrow terminal is a minus.

AvtoVAZ in its modern car models in rich trim levels has long been using multimedia systems with a touch screen. Such devices have a number of undeniable advantages, they are convenient to use navigation, view photos and videos during long stops and, in general, the external decoration of the car interior becomes much more modern.

However, there are no such devices on cheaper models, but this is to some extent a plus, not a minus, because you have a choice from all the variety of models that are on the market.
In our material, we will talk about how to install a typical 2din Android radio on a Lada Granta car.

To make a high-quality and accurate installation of a radio of this type, you will need to purchase not only the radio itself, but also the center console from the Lux version, because. it initially provides for the installation of this type of radio tape recorder, plus a transition frame.

Using plastic spatulas to work with interior elements, remove the heater control levers.

Prying off the center console at the bottom, we snap it off from its seat.

After retracting the overlay a short distance, disconnect all wiring that goes to the control keys for additional equipment.

The peculiarity of installing large non-regular 2din radio tape recorders in the Grant is that a thin plastic partition is used in the panel design, which will prevent the radio tape recorder from being drowned into the bowels of the panel, it will need to be cut down. A hacksaw blade is perfect for this task.

You will also need to shorten the adapter flange to the central ventilation nozzles by 5mm. We note right away that such an action will not affect the quality of the central ventilation nozzles, since it does not violate the tightness of the air supply system.

The result should be a completely free shaft for installing the radio in the bowels of the panel.

We cannot give unequivocal advice regarding the wiring for powering the car radio, since each radio tape recorder comes with different sets of adapters, we only advise you to give preference to those models that come with an adapter to the ISO pads that were originally installed in the car. In this case, the adapter simply plugs into the standard wiring and connects it to the radio. Otherwise, connect the wiring according to the wiring diagram supplied with the instrument.

If a mounting frame is supplied with the radio, it will need to be adapted to the narrow seats of the Lada Granta panel. You will need to remove the excess mounting bracket. This can be done on a turning wheel, or with a hacksaw. If the corners for mounting the radio are not supplied in the kit, you will need to make them yourself or buy them at a hardware store. The required thickness of the mounting plate is 1.5mm or more.

Modern 2 DIN radios are more convenient and functional than smaller (1 DIN) radios. The masters of the Avtomilor studio perform the installation of 2 din radio tape recorders in cars of different brands and models. We can also immediately install a rear view camera, acoustics, antenna, bring the USB connectors from the radio to a convenient place for you.

If the regular place does not allow you to install a large car radio, we will offer the best options for installing a 2 DIN radio with the refinement of the center console. For example, in some cases, you can use the space left by the manufacturer to install additional equipment.

Prices for installation of 2 DIN radios

The price of installing a 2 DIN radio is from 2000 rubles. The cost of installation with a monitor costs from 3,000 rubles, with navigation - from 5,000 rubles. For an accurate calculation of the cost of work, please call us and specify your car model.

Advantages of installing a two-din radio

  • Allow you to watch DVD and TV on the big screen;
  • Allows you to use navigation, the Internet;
  • On the radio screen, you can display the image from the rear view camera, which is very convenient when parking;
  • More convenient and functional than 1 DIN radio;
  • Looks good in the car.

Installing a two-din radio will make the interior more functional and more beautiful. If you are in doubt about which 2 DIN radio to choose, call us, we will advise you on this issue and help you purchase a high-quality radio.

Whatever car you have, you always want to have better, newer, faster. Yes, yes, the owners of Bentley also dream of ... Rolls-Royce))) If there is not enough money for the coveted new thing or you just don’t want to part with “His Charm”, then the torture of the rattletrap with xenon, pseudo-direct current and carbon fiber begins. Fortunately, the Chinese counterparts give a complete carte blanche for the flight of automotive fantasy.

The evolution of the radio in my car

The first music box in the car was ... a hole that gaped instead of a radio when buying. The cassette recorder + FM modulator became a temporary plug. The pleasure of the sound was dubious, and a few months later the Russian SUPRA SDM-3504 settled in the console. Over time, the latter refused to play some files, lag flash drives, etc. I just got bored. Having measured the dimensions of the opening in the transition frame, I began to look for a radio tape recorder of the right size. As it turned out, devices with a diagonal of 6.2 are full. But 6.95 turned out to be just nothing. On the GEARBEST website, I found a "media combine" that caught my attention - :
* Diagonal size - 6.95 inches
* Play video and music in the most popular formats
* Radio, the stump is clear
* Speakerphone HANDS FREE
* Ability to connect a camera
* TV function
** GPS - no
** Android - no
* Item price - $127. Taking into account the weight of the parcel of 2.7 kg, delivery is paid. In total it turned out $147

As you can see, the gadget is extremely simple. If desired, it could be found on android and with navigation, but this is 30-50 raccoons more expensive. There was no desire and no opportunity to overpay. In the end I ordered this one. Until the last moment, I was worried about the integrity of the contents of the parcel: after all, many thousands of kilometers flew. Luckily, everything arrived safe and sound. Let's move on to the contents of the package.

Order set includes:

1. Radio
2. Chip for connection
3. Control panel
4. Stylus
5. Instruction
6. Packing

radio tape recorder Packed good: in addition to the main one, it is packed in a shipping box. The main box is made of thick laminated cardboard with full color printing. Inside - thick spacers made of foamed polyethylene, providing immobilization of the contents. In bulk are the manual, cable, remote control and stylus. After examining the contents of the package, you can do conclusion that the packaging fully ensures the safety of the product upon delivery.

Instruction universal: for radio tape recorders with and without GPS (subject). In English, with pictures. On the whole, the informational content of the booklet is questionable. it outlines the most basic functions. Stylus normal, as in ancient handhelds - made of hard plastic and leaves stains on the display. contact Chip And Remote controller postpone until connection and proceed to radio tape recorder.
External dimensions correspond to those declared on the website. The case is pasted over with a transport film. The case has mounting holes with a thread for the frame. Mounting frame not included. The assembly is of high quality, to match the brand relatives. There is a sticker on the case with a detailed description of the purpose of the chips. All chips and connectors are installed rigidly, do not play or dangle. The screen is not covered with a protective film, but if you do not use the stylus, you will not need it. The backlight of the radio is blue, it illuminates the buttons and the drive. From the inscriptions - a completely faceless model name and device profile. The thin bezel and small buttons make the screen look bigger than the real thing.

On the front we will also find 3 slots: 1 for miniUSB, 2 for microSD (media and map). From the holes - a disc receiver, a microphone and rst (reset). In the upper left corner, there is a port for receiving a remote control signal. Everything is done in a very minimalist style. There are only four buttons on the front panel: POWER, EJECT DISC, VOLUME+ and VOLUME-. The button travel is short, with a click. By the way, on the site. I made a choice in favor of design consciously, knowing my “style” of using the radio: listening to radio and music in the background without having to “jump” from track to track or change radio stations.

Installation epic...

The first step is to remove the old radio and connect a new chip. The sacrament of connection took place in the service, there is no photo. Next, remove the standard frame for subsequent fastening of the radio to it.
In the absence of a transition frame in the kit, I had to use improvised materials. In my case, at hand was a profile for installing drywall, which came up like a native. It turned out like this:

Before installing the radio, do not forget to connect the connector, the antenna and unscrew the transport screws from the DVD drive (in the upper part of the radio). Otherwise, the disc will not be pulled into the radio.
Now it's time to install the whole structure in the console. The design turned out to be quite rigid thanks to the three-point fastening. Of course, replacing the old radio with a two-din one is impossible without a transition frame. As a result of the search, the most budget transitional frame was found for an incredible $ 45 ... After scratching my turnips, I took a desperate step and started reworking the stock frame . Let's shoot first:
Naturally, the crossbar was subject to indisputable removal. Taking into account the state of the stock frame (scratches pasted over with carbon), I did it without pity and sorrow)))
step by step: cut off the crossbar - filled the hole with hot glue - sanded the craft - painted it with spray paint. The result satisfied me and I realized that it was no longer possible to return to the single din version.
Now it's time for the jewelry fit of the panel and the manufacture of the edging. In my case, the donor was the old number frame. In the last photo, you can see that a window has been cut through at the bottom. I decided to settle in this nesting box: I’m very used to it, to him in the previous version.
Installation of parking sensors step by step: connect the chips - gut the parking sensors and release the display from the case - solder the display with hot glue on the back of the transition frame. The result is: Paste the frame in its original place. Well, now everything is fancy.

Radio functionality

The first thing we see on the screen after cranking while the radio is loading is a faceless picture of the Planet Earth in nasty blue tones, which can be replaced with the logo of your car (more on this later in the section “Buttons that are not there ...”) The cold start of the radio takes about 3 -5 seconds and we get to the main screen with function icons.

First screen (functionality) consists of: RADIO / DVD / BLUETOOTH / TV / USB / SD / IPOD / AV IN
Second screen (settings) consists of: SYSTEM / CLOCK / AUDIO / TOUCH / DISPLAY / WHEEL
The icons are large, clicking on each is indicated by a stroke. Opening apps is instant. Display resolution 800x480, set to . The squalor of the screen, given the current prevalence of IPS, kills. Fortunately, you don’t have to constantly look at it) The viewing angles of the screen are weak. With a direct hit of the bright sun on the display, the information content is greatly reduced. In the daytime, the information is read normally. There are no questions regarding the sensitivity of the display: both pressing and scrolling occur without lags.

RADIO

The most colorful interface! The search for radio stations lies in the FM and AM range. You can store 18 (!!!) FM and 12 AM stations in memory. Memorization occurs by holding the button with the radio station number for a long time. With each next start of the car, the last active wave is turned on. The reception quality is no different from the stock radio, although it rather depends on the antenna. On the road, noises are periodically heard, but the wave was never lost. My favorite "Russian" catches always, everywhere and in good quality. In constant radio mode, the menu buttons "Home", "Search", "Stereo" and "Equalizer" are lit. she is a running line, also supported. At the top of the radio menu there are active icons SD, DVD, Bluetooth. Clicking on these icons will take you to the corresponding menu. Now a little digression about ...
A BUTTON WHICH IS NOT, BUT ... IT IS!! There is a button in the radio that does not give itself away, but you can press it. She hid in the RADIO tab in the picture of the planet (see above, signed as "LOGO"). So, when you click on the globe, we fall into the start page selection menu. Here we have a choice of 15 car brand logos. Why exactly these brands are represented is a mystery to me. Apparently there are no other brands for the Chinese)))
To my happiness, the cherished Mitsubishi was found in the arsenal. Now, at the start of the radio, instead of Planet Earth, the Mitsubishi icon will flaunt on the screen)

DVD

The radio tape recorder reads all the DVD discs I have (I found only two). I read the wedding disc in 16:9 DVD format without any problems, although with some delay. The screen format is appropriate. Recorded video on a CD-R disc in AVI format began to play instantly, without braking. When you click on any area of the screen, pops up at the bottom Settings Menu, which includes buttons:
- RPT - REPEAT PLAY - Track/disc repeat function. When this recording finishes playing, it will be played from the beginning.
- RDM - Random play function. Plays all tracks on the current disc in random order.
- L/R - enable/disable stereo mode
- OSD - On-screen display. Display on the screen, sound settings, picture settings, timer and other information.
- SUB_T - Function to enable/disable subtitles
- MENU - Exit to the main menu
- Left/Right/Up/Down - cursor movement
- OK - close the settings tray
The delay for this panel to disappear is 10 seconds. Given that there are no physical buttons for scrolling through tracks, you need to meet the allotted time.

SD, USB

Homogeneous functions, so we will consider them together. On the front side there are two connectors: 2 microSD, 1 miniUSB. One microSD is signed as MEDIA, the second as MAP (Map). The first is used for its intended purpose, the second (due to the lack of GPS) is used by me to store the second card - with the Soviet Cinema Fund, for the road))). USB is connected via an adapter (included). When you connect any drive, the radio automatically starts reading it. Depending on the speed of the flash drive, capacity and amount of information, the reading time can last from 2-3 to 25 seconds. In the first case, this is TRANSCEND 16 GB / 10speed. In the second - a Chinese flash drive Noname 8 GB. The radio does not read the Russian language. In the SD and USB browsing menu, you can quickly switch from listening to music to viewing images and videos. And vice versa.
The media player is frankly sad and uncomfortable. Firstly, it is completely dull: there are no pictures and interface improvements. Everything is displayed in simple lists. The folders are displayed on the left side, the playlist is displayed on the right side. The artist and the title of the track are displayed as a running line in the search bar at the top. I was also disappointed by the meager information content: a faceless font and the lack of track playback time. The distance between the lines in the playlist is small, it is not easy to hit with a finger. Switching between tracks is done by clicking on the desired line in the list. Scrolling through the playlist pages can be done with the arrows at the bottom of the screen.
Reading all popular MUSICAL formats occurs without problems, regardless of the "heaviness" of the file, bitrate, etc. But with viewing VIDEO not so simple. The first attempts to play AVI and MOV video files failed: the inscription UNSUPPORTED FORMAT constantly popped up. This is because this device is controlled by the WIN 6.0 OS, like any primitive navigator. Therefore, performance miracles should not be expected. Searching for solutions on the Internet led me to the program. With the help of the latter, any video format is converted to the AVI 640x360 XVID I need. Now any video is read by the radio without problems.
PHOTOS You can watch both in slide show mode and paging.

BLUETOOTH

To connect the bluetooth device to the radio, we find it under the name CAR KIT. The phone itself suggested the password "0000". After the devices are paired, the message “CONNECTING OK” will appear on the radio screen. Now the connection will occur automatically.
During use, the display shows the necessary navigation of the phone: dialing, calling, hanging up, last dialed and received calls. Among other things, the "Phone book" function is available. However, only numbers are visible in the list, none of the languages (Russian, English) is displayed on the screen. During the conversation, the interlocutor is heard very well, the sound is transmitted to the regular speakers of the machine. The volume can be adjusted both on the phone and on the radio. He himself has to raise his voice a little, because. Otherwise, they start asking questions.
The device protocol supports HSP/HFP and A2DP profiles.

What is HSP/HFP/A2DP?

HSP (Handset Profile) - provides the basic functionality necessary for the interaction of the handset (mobile phone) and headset.
HFP (Hands free Profile) - functionality expanded compared to HSP, used to control a mobile phone from a station in a hands free car unit.
A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) - Provides the transmission of stereo audio signals. (the quality is much better than the mono encoding used for HSP and HFP).

Another cool Bluetooth feature - broadcasting sound from a tablet / phone to the acoustics of the car. This can be useful when listening on a phone or watching a movie on a tablet.

TV

It just doesn't exist. When connecting the antenna plug, no channels were found by auto-search. On the advice of smart people, I paired the car and television antenna cable. Unfortunately, this did not give a positive result.
The forums advised me to buy a television transcoder. However, the cost of such a toy did not suit me - from $40. Suggestions for resolving this issue in a more budget way Thank you for listening in the comments.

AV IN, IPOD

I did not check these functions because:
- AV IN is located on the rear panel (see photo above), and disassembling the panel is not comme il faut
- IPODa in the household is not opened.
I'll have to take the word of the Chinese, but I can't guarantee it)

I bring to your attention a visual video review of the functions of the radio (Part 1)

DVD Video Review + Settings Menu (Part 2)

And now for the sake of which the radio tape recorder was bought. SOUND, oddly enough, in all modes it is much better than "my former" SUPRA. Despite the poor equalizer (ROCK / JAZZ / FLAT, etc.), detected absolutely pure "meaty" sound . I think even sophisticated sound phyla and audio maniacs would appreciate the sound quality. An impressive 90Db is recorded in the sound radius according to measurements. I tried to squander the monitors "on the butt" with an acoustics test on the bottoms. Even at full power, there was no subsidence of the speakers, no rattling is heard. When making a test, all ranges sounded as they should, sometimes even dinner was asked to come out. I was very pleased with the sound. Yes, there, see for yourself)))

We will install a multimedia navigation system Pioneer AVIC-F930BT.

Purchased for installation:

  • transitional 2DIN frame ACV PR34-1043

  • adapter ISO-Mitsubishi 07+

  • also rearview camera Sky CA-UNI-5, unfortunately non-standard (color, sees in the dark).

For work, we need various tools, a package of plastic clamps, a lot of time, accuracy and diligence.

I will not describe in detail the process of disassembling the car - read the book from the "Third Rome". ;)

Frame preparation

We get this look:

We carry the native frame home.

We disassemble it: we disconnect the curtains of the air ducts and the panel of the emergency gang.

To remove the socket, carefully disconnect the cable by prying the cable retainer with a small screwdriver.

We fix the curtains and the panel on the new frame:

A spacer is included with the frame, it needs to be installed and fixed. It is better to fix it with superglue so that the spacer does not creak.

On the reverse side, we glue strips of vibration isolation to the frame, we kill two birds with one stone: we get rid of potential squeaks, and we exclude that the front panel of the radio will rub against the frame, thus preserving the presentation of the radio.

Basket preparation

We take the radio basket along with the lining from the radio set, native brackets, frame, and go to the car.

Screw the brackets into place.

We push the basket between the brackets. It will be clamped and will hang by itself without fixing.

Putting the frame in place:

We adjust the position of the basket as we need.

With a marker through the holes in the basket we put marks on the brackets, then we will fix the brackets to the basket using these marks.

We remove everything (we try not to lose the clips on the frame), we carry it home.

Now you need to attach the brackets to the basket. It is best to do this on rivets. I didn’t have a riveter, so I did it on self-tapping screws with a press washer. We fix the bracket to the basket according to the marks with a clamp, drill holes, rivet or tighten the screws (from the inside). The protruding ends of the self-tapping screws must be cut off with a grinder (the hacksaw will not take it), otherwise they will interfere with installation.

We grind off the hats of the screws with a file, as far as possible - they will interfere.

We insert the radio into the basket, fasten it to the bolts. Set up a frame. The radio is ready for installation:

Now let's go to the car.

Let's start the actual installation with the laying and installation of peripheral devices.

Installing the GPS Antenna

The antenna can be installed under the torpedo, but I put it in place of the light sensor (I don’t have it anyway).

We take out the plug, cut a groove for the wire in it, drag the wire from the antenna under the torpedo and fix the excess to the onboard wiring with a clamp:

We attach the antenna to the torpedo with double-sided tape.

Installing the microphone

We put the microphone in its regular place - in the ceiling light.

Remove the glass, pull off the central trim.

We fix the microphone on double-sided tape, direct it to the driver:

We collect the plafond back.

We lay the wire behind the ceiling lining (we lay it behind the lining from the side of the windshield), for convenience, you can remove the visor.

We pull the wire under the torpedo, and lay it along the antenna cable, grabbing it with clamps. There you can fix the surplus:

Routing the USB/AV cable

After much deliberation, I decided to bring the USB / AV connector in the center console to the cigarette lighter. There also brought the power cord of the DVR.

We remove the block with AUX connectors. We climb with our hands from the back side, squeeze the latches on both sides (4 in total) and push the block out. Disconnect the connector. To make it clear about the latches, here is a photo of the AUX block:

We drill and cut out such a groove:

We put our wires into it, put the AUX in place. Now this is a useless stub:

We twist the excess wire and fix it with clamps inside the torpedo.

Connecting other wires

We connect ISO adapter and the main braid from the radio.

handbrake wire you can connect it in the ETACS area (crawl there anyway), but I decided to do it near the handbrake itself - you never know if you want to turn off the handbrake control (for this, the wire will need to be disconnected from the handbrake limit switch and connected to ground), then in this place do it it will be much easier and faster.

To do this, I had to disassemble part of the center console.

Earth wire fasten under any nearby bolt, for example, here:

Speed control wire connect to pin C-103/31 of the main connector of the radio (white wire with a blue stripe, on the edge).

Reverse wire connect to terminal C-133/13 - this is a white wire on a free connector behind the radio tape recorder, which is screwed to the harness with electrical tape.

In addition, if available, we connect external amplifiers, a subwoofer, monitors, etc. - for this there is a separate braid of connectors at the radio.

Connecting steering wheel buttons

To implement the Wired Remote function, there are two solutions:

The first is to purchase an adapter CA-R-PI.138. Of the bonuses - it is also an ISO adapter. Of the minuses - the space price and the complexity of the search.

The second option is to adapt the Mitsubishi buttons to the Pioneer/Sony Wired Remote interface.

Let's take the second path.

We unscrew the panel with buttons, the self-tapping screw is located below:

This is how the removed panel looks like, bottom view:

Let's parse it:

We need a PCB:

We unsolder the resistors from the board from R1 to R6.

Instead, we solder the surface mount resistors with the following values:

I only had "huge" MLT-0.125 resistors available, but I managed to place them too:

We collect everything back, put it in the steering wheel.

On the main connector of the radio, we take two wires, contacts C-103/22 (blue) and C-103/32 (black).

We connect the extreme contact of the mini-jack (Tip) to the blue wire, and the common (Sleeve) to the black wire.

The middle contact (Ring) must remain free and not shorted to anything!

Installing the radio

After laying all the wires, we will have something like this:

We connect all the wires to the radio (I connected the wire of the rear view camera in advance, I left the gasket for last).

We turn on the radio, check ALL of its functions (microphone, GPS, steering wheel buttons, amplifiers / subwoofers / monitors, radio, camera, etc.).

If something does not work or does not work correctly, we eliminate the jambs of connections.

Once we're sure everything's fine, we'll move on.

We wrap the main wiring harnesses and connectors with vibration isolation strips. Firstly, we give aesthetics, and secondly, we get rid of possible noise:

Once again, I draw your attention to the fact that all functions should already be checked. Vibration isolation comes off only in pieces and does not unwind like electrical tape.

We put the radio in place, fasten the brackets and put the frame in place, not forgetting to connect the connector to it.

We turn it on again, once again, finally, before the final assembly, we check the functionality.

Installing the rear view camera

Installation

We lay the video cable along the left threshold in the trunk.

(It is possible on the right, but better on the left, because on the left side there is a wiring in the trunk and to the bumper).
