Honda Lead is respected even by those scooters who for some reason do not like him. Big, strong, made in a conservative style, a kind of "Hulk" in the world of scooters.

It is comfortable and roomy, it is a full-fledged deuce (designed for two people), and with this in mind, the manufacturer had to put a normal suspension on it, which is quite rare.

Both the 50 and 90 dice versions are good, but the 90 dice version is definitely more fun. On the move, the Lead resembles a cruise liner, it is a pleasure to ride it, but no more than 60-70 km / h, as for me.

the power reserve of the scooter is generally very large and it is able to accelerate by much great speed than its running and aerodynamic properties allow. At a speed of 80 mph, I felt somehow uncomfortable and, frankly, scared.

The plastic of our hero is solid and at the same time scarce. I bought my scooter b. y. without a plastic head, and faced such a problem that it is almost impossible to find it in my city.

Another problem that I had to experience for myself is the exhaust pipe, the muffler. The fact is that, as it turned out, Lida did not quality gasoline, oil, or for some other reason unknown to me, it clogs very often exhaust system and the moped simply stops moving and then completely stalls and refuses to start. After re-reading quite a few forums, I realized that I was far from alone and there were quite a few people who faced such a problem.

In general, the picture emerges such that the Honda Lead, despite its minor errors, still remains for me best scooter of all the ones I used, because it essentially has no minuses, but there are many pluses.

Honda Lead 90

The carburetor is marked PB11 B. Chinese counterparts, produced as a spare part instead of stock, did not even come close to these carburetors, therefore, if possible, you need to look for exactly relatives Japanese carburetors on breakdowns. Fortunately, the model is very popular, very ancient, and therefore there are a lot of spare parts.

The carburetor throttle diameter is 16 mm, the fuel level in the float chamber is 8 mm.

The main jet is #85, the idle jet is #35.

When setting the idle speed, it must be taken into account that the nominal idle speed should be at the level of 1800 rpm. Ideally, the error should be no more than 100 rpm, both up and down.

Reducer Honda Lead 90

IN gearbox used SAE oil 10W-30, API SE (factory recommendation) or transmission oil GL-4 80W-90 (this option is used more often in practice). Oil volume 120 ml. First you need to warm up the gearbox, unscrew the middle large filling bolt, then the bottom one for draining (it is also the bolt for securing the gearbox cover). After draining, the lower bolt is screwed in, the required volume of oil is poured in and the middle filling bolt is screwed in. We considered in more detail about the process of changing the oil in the gearbox.

If the gearbox needs to be replaced:

CVT Honda Lead 90

Let's start with the clutch bell. Its nominal inner diameter should be within 112.0 - 112.2 mm. The limiting diameter is 112.5 mm. The next step is to replace the clutch bell.

We examined the process of checking and replacing the clutch and variator using the example of the Lead AF-20 model:

Watch out for the thickness friction linings on the clutch pads. The nominal thickness for this model is 4.5 mm, the maximum allowable thickness is 2 mm.

It is important to monitor the width of the belt and produce it timely replacement upon reaching the maximum width. The nominal width of the Honda Lead 90 belt is 17.5 mm, the maximum width is 16.5 mm. Periodically check the belt width with a caliper.

The nominal diameter of the variator bushing is 24.011 - 24.052 mm, the maximum diameter is 24.6 mm. Consider these dimensions when replacing a worn bushing.

The nominal diameter of the variator rollers is 15.920 - 16.080 mm, the maximum diameter is 15.4 mm. Monitor the wear of the rollers and replace them in a timely manner. We also recommend reading the article:

Periodically check the length of the driven pulley spring in the event that the operation of the transmission seems to be incorrect even after numerous adjustments and experiments. The nominal length of the driven pulley spring is 145.5 mm, the maximum length is 137.5 mm. Yes, the spring compresses over time. When a certain point is reached in the length, further operation of this part leads to a decrease in the efficiency of the transmission as a whole.

Brake System Honda Lead 90

The braking system of the Honda Lead 90 scooter consists of a front disk and rear tympanic brakes. Components of the system are quite high quality and durable. Combined braking system is not provided.

Front disc brake.

Lever free play front brake should be 10-20 mm. Take this information into account when making adjustments.

For disk hydraulic brake used brake fluid DOT 3 or DOT 4. How to properly replace the fluid, read here:

Periodically check the thickness brake disc. The nominal thickness is 3.5 mm, the minimum thickness is 3.0 mm.

The nominal diameter of the brake master cylinder (the one on the steering wheel) is 11.000 - 11.043 mm, the maximum diameter is 11.055 mm.

Nominal main diameter brake piston(the one on the steering wheel) is 10.957 - 10.984 mm, the maximum diameter is 10.945.

Let's move on to the brake caliper.

The nominal diameter of the brake cylinder (the one that presses the pad to the disc) is 27.000 - 27.050 mm, the maximum diameter is 27.060 mm.

The nominal diameter of the brake piston (the one that presses the pad to the disc) is 26.918 - 26.698 mm. The limiting diameter is 26.910 mm.

Rear drum brake.

When adjusting the rear drum brake lever (on the steering wheel), the lever travel is within 10-20 mm, as is the case with the front disc.

During each replacement of brake pads, it is necessary to check the inner diameter of the drum (for rim) of the rear wheel. The nominal diameter is 110 mm, readings above 111 mm indicate the need to replace the rear rim.

Watch the thickness of the pads. The nominal thickness is 4 mm, the maximum thickness after which the pads must be replaced is 2 mm.

We considered more about the drum brake on a scooter in the articles:

Suspension Honda Lead 90

The suspension on the Honda Lead 90 scooter consists of a front linkage fork and a rear monoshock on the swingarm.

Nominal spring height front arm is 217 mm. Limit - 210.5 mm.

Front fork shock absorber in casing

Nominal spring height rear suspension is 241.2 mm, the limit is 234 mm.

More about tire pressure:

Used: 3.5-10 4PR or 100/90-10 56J.

Electrical equipment Honda Lead 90

Measure the voltage at 5000 rpm of the engine. For power we determine 12 - 14 V, for ignition - 13 - 15 V.

The maximum output current is 5.5 A.

The system uses a 12 V, 3 Ah battery.

When charging this battery the following rules must be observed:

  • If charging continues for 5-10 hours, the charging current should be 0.4A.
  • When charging for about an hour, the charging current is 4 A.

18 V bulbs are used in the head light. In total, 2 bulbs work simultaneously in the headlight, each with its own reflector.

IN rear clearance two light bulbs are also used, each with two spirals, where a 5 V spiral is used for the gauge itself, and 10 V for the stop. The gauge is powered by a generator, and the stop is powered by a battery.

The turn signals use 10V bulbs.

For indicators, 1.7 V bulbs are used.

When repairing electrical equipment, information on the resistance of the windings may be useful:

  • The resistance of the power windings is 0.3-1.2 ohms.
  • The resistance of the ignition windings is 0.1 - 1 ohm.

Honda Lead 90 Ignition System

Some data on spark plugs.

  • NGK - BPR4HSA, BPR6HSA, BPR8HSA.
  • Denso - W14FPR-L, W20FPR-L, W24FPR-L.

The gap of the candle is 0.6 - 0.7 mm.

Adventures of the Japanese in Russia

Many motorcyclists have either already acquired a “fifty kopeck” scooter, or are going to “buy some kind of” muppet. Because there is nothing more convenient in the motorcycle industry than a scooter. What else to drive to the stall for beer or to the spare parts store, digging for long evenings with a disassembled motorcycle? Or come to visit friends in a nearby garage cooperative? On foot - laziness, on a mote it is not always convenient, but on a "stool" - just right. You don’t have to fool around with expensive equipment, don’t worry about a headache after yesterday’s gatherings, and there’s no worries with a technical inspection license, - he slammed his helmet on and go. And if the bike is broken, the scooter will save you from "benchmaking" for the duration of the repair. Whatever, but the wheels. If someone says that the above can be attributed to any "fifty dollars", he will be right, but only in part. Honda Lead is perhaps the only representative of the Japanese scooter industry that is almost ideally suited to the needs of the average Russian.

Love for minimalism It will not be a discovery that the Japanese are a people, for the most part, not of great size, and given the country's population density and urban development, it is not surprising why the Japanese are such minimalists. The apartment is so tiny, the car is like a snuffbox, so long as you don't pay the parking tax. It's the same story with scooters. A typical Japanese scooter has such dimensions that even a person of average "Russian" height (and this is about 175 cm) will be, to put it mildly, a little cramped on it. The knees rest on the steering wheel, even if you sit on the trunk behind the saddle. Of course, and chassis A "typical" scooter is designed for the average Japanese (50 kilograms of commercials), driving on Japanese roads as smooth as glass. And here, for example, Honda Pal or Tact get to Russia, and a painfully familiar picture appears to our eyes: perching on a tiny saddle, spreading his knees so that the steering wheel fits between them, he rides on broken asphalt or worse, a hefty kid on a country road, and the poor "mapetka", creaking with all its joints, is trying with all its might to stay alive. The “leg” (the engine-transmission unit, which also performs the functions of the cantilever pendulum of the rear wheel) has long been turned to the side by exorbitant loads and the wheel is at an angle to the vertical axis of the scooter, the thin telescopic fork “leaked out” a long time ago and works to the end on every bump, well, how the frame walks can be seen almost with the naked eye. In a word, the picture is depressing. Way to LEADer! But Honda has a wonderful device called Lead. Despite the general similarity constructive solutions with others, "Lid" has three important benefits. First, it's big. Second, he is reliable. And the third - it happens to be 90 cubic meters. Now in order. Ergonomics. Indeed, when designing the Lead, Honda's engineers seem to have European stature in mind. It is much larger and more spacious than its classmates. Perhaps, according to this parameter, Lead is the only "Japanese" that can compete with the "Europeans" of its time (although the "Europeans" are unlikely to ever be able to compete with Lead in terms of price). If on the same Dio it will be cramped even for a girl taller than 170 cm, then on “Lida” only “Uncle Styopa” will hit the front shield with her knees, about ninety meters away. But the issue of landing is not only comfort, but also safety: where can you “arrive” if the steering wheel gets tangled in your knees, especially in dense city traffic. A 90-cc model with the same dimensions is considered a double at all. Reliability. In terms of manufacturing quality, Lead is certainly on a par with all Japanese products. But this device, unlike most of its classmates, is equipped with a frame that would fit any other “max”. Thick pipes and stamped elements create a very rigid structure that easily withstands wars with Russian roads. Camber is not disturbed even after several years of active operation. True, sometimes hydraulics “die” in this war rear shock absorber, but replacing the rack with a new Chinese or "native" used one will not shake even the leanest budget (see "Estimated prices for spare parts"), and this work is within the power of even the most distant person from technology. The same can be said about the front fork: the pull-type linkage system is assembled from steel pipes and steel castings. Elastic elements two classic shock absorbers protrude. This suspension is able to painlessly "digest" almost any pit. Even if you set out to “kill” the fork, the maximum is that the shock absorbers will “run out”. Even in this case, the fork will work, even though the oil will flow out. And if you approach the “killing” with all responsibility and zeal, then after a few years of operation, you may have to replace the worn-out steering column bearings. However, practice shows that the majority of leads almost never encounter this problem. In a word, Lead is really a class leader in terms of “spaciousness of the cabin” and indestructibility of the chassis. 90 cc modification. She is the most valued knowledgeable people. It is understandable: the chassis has such a serious margin of safety and rigidity that it can easily cope with the increased engine power. And the power in “almost a hundred” is already 8.4 hp. at 6500 rpm (against 6.4 hp at 6500 rpm for the fifty dollars) and 1 Nm at 6000 rpm (against 0.7 Nm at 6000 rpm). The “ninetieth” easily develops a speed of 100 km / h, and if you are lucky with the engine and the variator, then all 110. Moreover, the passenger practically does not affect the “maximum speed”. If we are talking about acceleration, let's talk about the brakes. They are - in principle, this brief description may be limited. The front disc brake is quite tenacious and one is enough to stop the scooter at any speed. Rear drum, with mechanical drive perfectly complements the front. In a word, the design worked out over the years does not cause any complaints, and it practically does not require attention to itself. Another feature is that the "ninetieth" outwardly is almost indistinguishable from the "fifty dollars". Footpegs for the passenger, a strap across the saddle, and a speedometer marked up to 100 km / h, instead of the classic "60" - that's the whole difference. Otherwise, the devices are absolutely identical, the details of the cladding, chassis and many other elements are interchangeable, so it’s quite difficult to distinguish the older brother from the younger on the move, and if you try a little and conjure with the body kit, it’s completely impossible. True, law-abiding Japanese on all scooters with an engine capacity of more than 50 cm3 stick a special sign: a white triangle. You can usually see it on the rear fender or on the plastic, near the brake light. Of course, if the device has already “run” around Russia, the sticker could have been torn off, but if the scooter has just arrived from home, this can become another “beacon” when the eyes run across the orderly rows of equipment in a motorcycle showroom. By the way, let me remind you that any equipment with an engine capacity above 50 cm3 is considered "mechanical vehicle”, and when buying in the salon or from your hands, you should be given not only a store receipt (or a sales contract), but also a title. Of course, such a scooter must be registered with the traffic police, it must be issued an OSAGO policy and pass a technical inspection. Of course, category A rights are also required. Instead of a heart - a bug Power units both modifications are amazingly reliable. Often in motorcycle dealerships you can see "Lida" with a range of 40 thousand km, feeling quite cheerful. Of course, outright rubbish also comes across on sale, but these are more often devices that have already been used in Russia. Sellers rarely offer frankly “dead” equipment - expect trouble with complaints, and the image of such surprises spoils great, and this is almost main engine trading in a highly competitive environment. When choosing a device for yourself, agree that the seller does not warm up the engine before the meeting. Cold start will tell you almost everything about the health of the motor. If the motor comes to life and starts to rumble smoothly from a short press on the electric starter button, then most likely everything is in order. If you have to turn the starter for a long time, or even worse, resort to the help of a kickstarter, most likely the cylinder-piston group is worn out. The scooter cylinder is traditionally cast iron, so if there are no strong scuffs and rust on its surface, you won’t have to change it, but the piston wears out much faster, and you need to change it along with a set of rings and a pin, which is also subject to wear. If the “toad is strangling”, instead of the original and expensive spare parts, you can install a Chinese or Taiwanese analogue. True, such pistons live from 1 to 5 thousand kilometers, depending on the correct running-in, driving style and just luck. And for the "original" and 40 thousand - not the limit. The most common problem with both 50 and 90 cc engines is failure oil pump separate lubrication systems. A malfunction is detected quite simply: the piston begins to “grab” even in fairly calm driving modes. The reason for the lack of oil is a too thin plate, against which the pump shaft rests, it bends, and the oil begins to "siphon" in all directions, except for the necessary one. This disease is treated by replacing the oil pump assembly. It is often impossible to repair the old one. The best option the installation of the Chinese analogue is considered. Unlike pistons, the quality of oil pumps from the Celestial Empire is almost not lame, and the price does not bite. If there is nowhere to get a spare part or a breakdown happened far from the store, but you need to go, you can simply add oil directly to gasoline in the proportion indicated on the packaging of the oil itself. There will be more smoke and soot from the exhaust, but you will save the engine. By the way, about soot: if Lead is already elderly or the previous owners “fed” him not very much good oil, the exhaust pipe is overgrown with soot and ceases to pass gases in the proper volume, of course, one also has to forget about the “tuning” of the system as a whole. The motor loses "traction", accelerates poorly, the maximum speed drops. Before "capitalizing" the motor or sorting out the variator, burn the "jar" of the muffler with a blowtorch - it is very likely that the ailment will disappear. We recommend doing this procedure immediately after purchase. The Lida variator is a reliable and well-established unit. So, most likely, during operation, it will require only scheduled replacement weights as they wear. Clutch pads and a belt "live" for a very long time, and these details will not make a hole in the budget. The rest of the "family diseases" are sick body kit. The first - on almost all devices, the rubber mat of the floor shrinks, decreasing in size, and bristles. With this, unfortunately, nothing can be done - this is the peculiarity of the material. The second is less common, but nevertheless regular. If the device had to drive with an overload (whether it was a passenger or a heavy pilot), a rather soft shock absorber was compressed to the point that the exhaust pipe was immersed under the plastic and the hot gases heated up and melted the molding that encircled the lower part of the lining around the perimeter. That is why many people remove the molding either after it has melted, or they hang it on a nail in the garage in advance in order to return it to its place before a future sale. Best the enemy of the good Unfortunately, for those who like to tune the scooter beyond recognition, Lead is ordered (meaning engine and CVT tuning, not external decorations). Tuning kit for his engine is almost impossible to find. And if you can still find an “increased” CPG for “fifty kopecks”, then there is no tuning at all for “90”. Nevertheless, Lead is a purely utilitarian device designed to move the average Japanese clerk from home to work, unlike, say, the same Dio, which have a “youth-bullet” orientation. The only advice that many mechanics give is to install lighter weights in the "ninetieth" variator, which smooth out the failure in acceleration by 30-50 km / h. By the way, many copies are equipped not only with a central stand, but also with a side stop. A rare and pleasant "bauble" for scooters in general. Prices for Japanese second-hand in general and for Lead in particular depend, first of all, not even on the condition of a particular instance (the Japanese in the vast majority of cases sell used scooters "by weight", and not by the piece, without differentiating prices by the technical condition factor ), but on the volume conducted by the Russian seller pre-sales preparation. If the pre-sale is reduced to a successful attempt to start the device and wash it, the price will not be high, but to cheer up the scooter after long parking in a Japanese landfill you still have to, yourself or in a service. And if the seller not only rubbed the plastic sides, but also changed the oil in the tank and gearbox, changed the candle, installed a new battery, and, if necessary, tires and brake pads- the price, of course, will be higher for the cost of consumables and spare parts. It’s not worth trying to save on pre-sales: self-purchase of everything you need is usually more expensive, and you will have to spend a lot of time. The loss in value during the sale is most often due not to the year of manufacture or even mileage, but, first of all, technical condition. If the zhuzhik was well serviced, ate high-quality oil and did not lose its former agility, then about 50–60% of the original cost could be earned for it. Although you should not expect that a scooter that has traveled half of Japan and half of Russia will quickly find a buyer, because the cost of the device “without a run in Russia” is not so high. Most likely, Lead, like any Japanese scooter - "fifty kopecks", is a purchase that ends its life in the trash. Only unlike Chinese analogues, which rarely live longer than one season, with proper care, Lead will not be there soon. We thank Redmoto for the scooters provided for shooting and mechanic Evgeny Goncharenko for technical advice. A bit of history

In 1998, the machine that had lasted ten years in the series was replaced by a new generation of Lead with engines of 49 and 101 cm3. New car even though I kept family traits, has practically nothing in common with our hero. The design has become smoother and more rounded, the lever fork, which came so to the place in the Russian directions, has given way to the usual “telescope”, but the archaic single-piston front brake caliper has sunk into oblivion, and it has been replaced by a two-piston one. In addition, the new Lead is equipped with a combined braking system. The engine has also changed a bit. In the “toilet” (as scooters lovingly call the seatpost capacity), a latch appeared that locks the central stand in the open position (any kind, but an anti-theft), and a rug. This modification is now found in salons almost more often than the previous one, but more “fresh” devices and cost 10–15 thousand rubles. expensive.

Japanese concern Honda, as you know, is rich in its traditions and developments in the production of everything that moves. Scooters from Honda are among the best on the world market, although they are cheaper than European ones. And scooters of the Honda Lead line are so popular among domestic fans of this mode of transportation that they may well get the title of legendary over time.

Such love of Honda Lead scooters is due to its successful design, which allows you to feel relatively comfortable on surfaces that are far from the concept of quality. domestic roads, as well as a line of engines that are powerful enough for their class, thanks to which the start, cruising and maximum speed are quite comparable with other road users.

The most popular Honda Lead and currently available are the second generation scooters of the family. The latest Honda Lead scooters are represented by several models.
Honda Lead AF20 / HF05 differ mainly in motors (two-stroke engines 49 cm³ and 89 cm³, respectively, were produced in 1988-1998). The most popular among them is the Honda Lead 90 (aka HF05), which is distinguished by a seat molded for two passengers, speedometer markings and, of course, almost twice as much powerful motor. This is a full-fledged two-seater scooter, its link suspension meets the increased requirements of a non-ideal roadway, the design of the pendulums during movement helps to absorb small and even medium-sized potholes.
If speak about technical specifications Honda Lead 90 scooters. There is one feature of picking up speed - up to 30 km / h - in 2-3 seconds, then a small “failure”, and again a sharp acceleration, starting at 40 km / h. Maximum speed on Lead 90 is up to 100 km/h (average cruising speed is 60 km/h). Dimensions: 1795mm long, 680mm wide, 1060mm full height, base 1255mm, ground clearance- 110 mm, seat height 735 mm. Brake system: front disc and rear drum brakes.

The most common failure is insufficiently functional on high revs operation of the oil pump (which leads to overheating of the engine), which can be solved either by replacing it or (according to the Soviet method of solving the problem) by organizing the supply of an additional portion of oil to gasoline.

Advantages of Honda Lid 90 scooters - good ergonomics, nice exterior, comfortable ride, efficiency, price.
Today, the Honda Lead 90 remains the most widely popular model in the narrow circles of Russian scooters. Prices for it, depending on the condition and mileage, vary from 600 to 1000 USD. e.

Honda Lead AF48/JF06 have the same differences between them (2-stroke engine size 50 cm³ and 100 cm³, seat and speedometer), produced in 1998-2003. Honda Lead, produced in these years, received a telescopic front suspension (which improved handling) and more reinforced spring behind, a little more power engine and some changes appearance(an improved instrument panel, a transparent headlight continues as a single block with turn signals, a rounded body kit, an enlarged floor area). They also differ somewhat from their predecessors in dimensions: they have already become 35 mm longer, the base is 20 mm longer, the ground clearance is 115 mm, while the seat height has decreased by 75 mm.
The price for the most popular model of the used Honda Lead 100 ranges up to 1500 USD.

After that Honda release Lead was interrupted and resumed in 2008 with the advent of the new Honda Lead JF 19 scooter (aka Honda Lead 110), long-awaited by all fans of the model. The new "Lida" outwardly turned out to be more majestic, acquired a full-fledged dashboard. The changes affected the frame - it became lighter and at the same time stronger. The Honda Lead 110 boasts a very serious engine- 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine with a volume of 107 cm³. The changes also affected the dimensions: Lead 110 has an increased front wheel(12 inches, rear - 10 inches), the scooter has become 40 mm longer, higher in the saddle (Lead 90 level), the ground clearance has also become higher and is 125 mm. The braking system has not changed. In general from their ancestors updated model features even more improved maneuverability and stability, engine power and a more modern design.
For the Honda Lead new 110 scooter in dealerships, they ask for a price of 145 thousand rubles.

I still own this unit, but as soon as the time machine appeared, it was almost not enough for it. I can say that this honda series, the downside is the spring and the front strut. She could not withstand intensive driving over bumps over 150 km. This is a minus original spare parts, but there was a store where I bought stock on it and with good quality. If you are offered to install a sports exhaust pipe from spare parts, do not take it if you do not want to lose pieces of plastic, as it does not fit in size, and eventually, when driving, the pipe touches pieces of plastic and the plastic will fuse. Regarding the fact that the scooter will receive + 4-5 liters. With. this is true, but it should be borne in mind that after all, I would not advise installing sports forks on it, mufflers, because the forks crack quite often when driving on rough roads.

Neutral Feedback

To date, the Honda Lead is the most popular scooter with an engine capacity of more than 50 cc. see Among its advantages include convenience. In addition, this scooter has proven itself excellently on Russian paths that are far from perfection. In order to familiarize yourself with this model at home, we will be supported by reviews. The Honda Lead, like any other model, owns its large and light sides. The disadvantages of this scooter include the design of the oil pump. Its thrust plate tends to buckle over time, resulting in oil leakage.

This can be indicated by a long-term capital exhaust smoke. The transmission of the scooter does not wake up any complaints. In some cases, it is possible to replace the weights of the variator, which avoids crashes when accelerating to 50 kilometers per hour. A fairly rigid frame has a traditional spinal design. Plastic facings are able to endure even big falls. A huge plus is represented by a remarkably faithful suspension system, which stands out for its high energy consumption and comfort. It allows the scooter to perfectly cope with the Russian paths. This is facilitated by the use of high-profile rubber and molded rims. Engine - single-cylinder, two-stroke Scooter dimensions - 1755 mm * 1060 mm * 715 mm Base length - 1235 mm Weight - 76 kg Height of the scooter on the seat - 735 mm Maximum speed - 60 km / h.

People! I myself am from Sevastopol. I've had lead for 3 years now. I took it at a ridiculous price - 200 USD. e. 20 thousand on speed, of which 13 are mine. moped - a fairy tale. only now the oiler is tired, I constantly change the cuffs. and generally satisfied.

Good day. A few issues with the Honda Lead 90 HF05E. In general, let's start. With the correct setting of the carburetor adjusting bolts, it will not start when the engine is cold, but it works perfectly on a hot one (even the engine sound is clear). But since it doesn’t start on a cold one, I had to tighten the bolts to the end, it starts on a cold one, picks up speed, resets them as it warms up and how it warms up idling disappears, the engine runs somehow not cleanly, gasoline consumption is increased. What could be? I have a suspicion of a starting enricher ... How can I check that it is working correctly?

We go further, before the speed (maximum) kept exactly 95 km / h, now it does not want to accelerate more than 80 km / h. What is the reason? Another problem is this, the kick starter foot slips and does not return to its place. It returns only when you push it, and then not always, sometimes you have to put it back manually.

It seems that for now everything, but I would also like to know what kind of candle is needed there.

(Honda Lead) - a full-fledged 2-seater scooter in the performance of 49 and 89 cm 3 50 cc version has the factory index af20, and 89 cc, respectively, hf05. Both versions of the scooter are almost identical in appearance. The only differences are that in xf05 (89cm 3) the seat is molded for two passengers, and on the 50 cubic version the speedometer is lined up to 60 km / h, on the 89 cubic version, respectively, up to 100 km / h.

Technically, both models are extremely reliable when used in the city and in the country.

Huge plus when driving bad roads It's a linkage front suspension. Thanks to the design of the pendulums, Honda af20/hf05 allows you not to slow down in case of potholes, speed bumps, etc.

Thanks to tires with a larger profile than, for example, very popular models Honda Dio, Honda Lad is more stable both in a straight line and in corners. The naturally increased width and height of the tire profile had a positive effect on the smoothness of the ride.

With timely maintenance Honda Lead allows you to drive up to 70,000 km. without engine overhaul.

More detailed information maintenance is described in the Tips section.

This model allows you to easily carry passengers with a total weight of up to 180 kg.

honda lad xf05(89cm 3) is sold together with the title, customs declaration and is subject to registration with the traffic police.

I took the lead in 2006 used from a container in Odessa in good condition sold in 2009. Exploited a lot. Loved the flow and torquey engine with good traction. It accelerated to a maximum of 100 km / h, but this is not its speed, the cruise speed on Lida is 90 - 75-80 km / h.

A season after the purchase, on a trip to the beach, the engine overheated. True, this is rather my fault, because I tried to overtake a Volynian car on the highway (I don’t know how officially).

The following year, the oil-fuel mixer clogged. It was very problematic to change, since it is located below and the frame interferes with dismantling, so I had to remove the engine!

After another season, two interacting gears flew in the wheel drive. Issue price 240 UAH. for one and 360 for another. Changed one.

In general, the device is good, but somehow there was little trust in it (probably due to the fact that I repaired it every season), though this is everyone's business.

I will not tell you how beautiful and cool he is. I'll tell you what you need to pay attention to when buying a Honda lead 90. The very first mileage - with a mileage of more than 35-40 thousand km, it is better to refuse to buy, even if outwardly it is ideal. Everything can be painted very easily. Do not buy a scooter from the village from the guys - a 99% guarantee that they quilted it as soon as possible. If it is written - there is a new piston, then most likely they put the cheapest Chinese rubles for 1000 so that when selling the scooter "fell". Such a CPG will die in a week. Ask the seller to remove the "toilet" - your eyes will open the oil pump. ATTENTION!!! - IF YOU SEE THERE AT LEAST A DROP OF OIL, OR EVERYTHING WILL BE FILLED WITH OIL, feel free to turn around and go home. The oil pump is most likely dead. The oil can drain directly into the mixing chamber, on a cold start it simply splashes into the cylinder in a stream. Due to very strong smoke on cold start. Want to remove the motor? Look also at the condition of the brake disc - if the run is 5 thousand km, and the groove in the disc is 3 mm from wear, then you are being deceived - the mileage was twisted. Now about the scooter itself - if you think that the Lead 90 is a sportbike, then you are mistaken. I want to upset the guys who are going to buy Lead 90. Let it be 100 on the tidy, and max. speed 90, do not forget that the cruising speed of the scooter is 50-55 km/h!!! (In Japan, you can not drive more than 40 km / h). It is stupidly unprofitable to heat 80-90 - the consumption rises many times. At 70, the petrol needle drops down very quickly. We arrived at 5 min. faster, but no tank. In this case, the cost is comparable to throughput hoseless. In quiet mode 3.5 l. for 100km. The suspension is very stiff, on the recumbent it is necessary to slow down to almost zero. The glove boxes are large and comfortable. The plastic is not very well made - disposable latches are used. Saved. Manageability is average. On dunlop "e you can slip even on dry pavement - it's dangerous. We turn slowly, turn - we give gas. In general, the scooter is not bad, just don't take too old ones, there is a limit to everything. For a calm, measured ride, that's it. Not suitable for racing - If you want to ride, buy a motorcycle.

Positive reviews

We are with him for the 14th season. More than 120,000 km mileage. This is only mine. Since 1992, it has been repaired a lot, but admiration for its closeness to perfection and the skill of the creators does not weaken. Last winter, I took apart the gearbox for the first time - replace I had only the output shaft bearings. There is no wear on the gear teeth. Absolutely. Only polished working surfaces. Of course, the Liquid Moli GL-4 + 5 transmission, it is like that ... Yes, and finally got rid of the oil system and pour oil into gasoline. It is ideal , but is designed for FACTORY consumption of gasoline, i.e. about two and a half liters per 100 km. Then the oil / gasoline ratio will be 1 / (20s small). And how many more often do we have? oil / gasoline \u003d 1/35, and this is tolerable only for the best 2t oils, and even then not in the heat. Only recently it was possible to bring the engine and gasoline consumption to the factory state - 2.3l / 100km (highway), total consumption - 2.7 -2.8 l / 100 km. But now, without an oil system, you can select the oil / gasoline ratio for any oil. For Motul Power it turned out to be 1/27. The scooter now runs easily and gently murmurs. 10 years was Valvoline 2t, and it seemed that everything well. Now I don’t want it anymore. In 2015, he sealed the oil pump with some kind of filth like a “non-splittable viscosity modifier”, and the engine was overhauled. This is how the era of light 2t oils began. Now engine overheating is more dangerous than it was with heavy oils. Therefore : 1) No rich mixture - medium in cold, poor in heat; 2) The thickness of the gasket under the cylinder head is not more than the factory one, it is 0.25 mm. If anyone does not know, it directly affects the power-heating-consumption, because . changes the working volume of the combustion chamber; 3) AI-92 and not higher (it has less combustion t); 4) Do not overestimate the crankshaft speed by setting the variator, the motor should be slightly choked. technical particulars. The machine is wonderful. With a diode head light, an additional headlight from the battery (also diode), a light quick-detachable windshield and illumination of the seat compartment, floor and wardrobe trunk, I drive with pleasure even 250 km from home. There are any spare parts for it, from Chinese to Megazip original ones with Taiwanese ones in the middle. This summer I installed a NICE RICH crankshaft - the third in 26 years, with Japanese bearings and seals according to the catalog - and the consumption fell by 0.2l / 100km. Apparently, the old seals did not hold crankcase pressure pulsations and the combustion chamber purge did not was full. Money is not a pity. "We have, we have what we have. You and me, everything that is valuable has no price." (Group 5'Nizza).

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • age

Just a great scooter! Bought this eight years ago. Picked up from former owner out of the garage after three years of inactivity. It started up the first time and served for two years without any breakdowns and minor replacements. Then, after replacing the piston and oil pump, he ran for another three years until he had to sell it.

The scooter is just FIRE! Feel free to squeeze 80km / h, even with a passenger. How much I rolled out on my own, in what places and gullies I just didn’t ride))

General impression: Eternal scooter.

Advantages:

  • Easy to manage
  • big seat
  • roomy trunk
  • good front fork
  • very reliable device

Flaws:

  • Bad stock light
  • oil pump died quickly

When I first got behind the wheel of the Leada, I immediately realized that the scooter is very comfortable, firstly, a large seat, under which a rather roomy trunk is hidden, and secondly, this scooter is easy to control even for beginners, good jerk and speed gain and much more. During operation, I felt its pros and cons, probably the main disadvantage is the oil pump, which fails very quickly, being replaced by Chinese equivalent- it is pointless, it is much better to add oil to the gas tank, at the rate of 30 ml of oil per 1 liter of gasoline. The second minus is that the light in the scooter is rather weak, I solved the problem by converting the headlight to a powerful LED one. One of the main advantages of course can be called an indestructible front fork. In general, I dashed off more than 40,000 km on the scooter along our "ideal" roads, and I plan to drive no less.

A cool scooter, for example, I like it, I like these, although not fast, but I would ride, it would not even be bad. I advise all my friends and I really want it myself ... as a child, I couldn’t live without it, but now everything. a friend had one, only bright of blue color, there really was only 60 km / h on the speedometer, but we still drove 55-60 with him))) I liked to ride very much, but I didn’t like that I didn’t have my own, now I’ll definitely buy it for myself. now I’ll buy it, because I found a good job in a salon selling those same scooters. the work is not dusty, but the pay is excellent. A SCOOTER IS WELL, you don’t need to do anything, and he almost doesn’t eat gasoline)))) I ADVISE EVERYONE)))

Great car! I have already traveled 10 thousand without problems. 90-95 km. h knocks, I have enough.

Until last year, I was not interested in motorcycles and scooters, but only admired at times. Yes, and from time to time I heard something from traveling acquaintances.

And then all of a sudden, I really wanted to. Just absolutely. It was already July in the yard, about specific models and equipment, I almost did not hear anything. And from the brands somehow Honda immediately sunk into the soul.

Firstly, Japan of course

Secondly some internal preference appeared. I didn't have a driver's license, so there were only 50cc scooters to choose from. According to numerous reviews and reviews on the Internet, the Honda Lead seemed to be the most reliable. Choosing a small salon nearby, I went to see and sit. I sat on Dio, Tact and others. Joker is beautiful, of course, but more expensive and not for traffic jams. For two, a more or less comfortable seat was, again, only at Lead, perhaps. Therefore, it was chosen and bought :) Although this is not a motorcycle, but just a scooter, before that I only rode a bicycle and it was scary to ride the first meters, I confess) Having made a few laps for testing, I said goodbye to the salon and drove onto the road. After driving around the area for a bit and with minimal driving experience, I headed home. The shortest way lay through Prospekt Mira, where I didn’t really want to go, after all, it was a busy street. I had to get from Krasnobogatyrskaya Street to Krasnaya Pine Street. The distance is small. Looking at the map, I tried to find a shorter passage through the Yauzskaya alley (I walked like this more than once and there is even a crossing under the railway line), but ran into a barrier. Therefore, I had to turn around and go to Prospekt Mira. However, additional experience was gained and it was no longer so scary. Remembering only that on a scooter I had to keep to the right lane, I turned around under the bridge and, having passed through Selskokhozyaistvennaya Street, drove to the Botanichesky Sad metro station, and from there, through Serebryakov’s passage, I drove to Severyaninsky Bridge and arrived at the end point :) This was the first drive. Until late autumn, we lived happily with him, and then he went to another owner.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • exhaust system is clogged.

On the move, the Lead resembles a cruise liner, it is a pleasure to ride it, but no more than 60-70 km / h, as for me. the power reserve of the scooter is generally very large and it is able to accelerate to a much higher speed than its running and aerodynamic properties allow.

The fact is that, as it turned out, from using low-quality gasoline, oil, or for some other reason unknown to me, the exhaust system very often clogs up and the moped simply stops moving and then completely stalls and refuses to start. After re-reading quite a few forums, I realized that I was far from alone and there were quite a few people who faced such a problem.

In general, the picture emerges such that the Honda Lead, despite its minor errors, still remains for me the best scooter of all I have used, because it essentially has no minuses, but there are many pluses.

General impression: Big and strong scooter with a smooth ride.

Advantages:

  • Comfort
  • endurance.

Flaws:

  • Didn't find it.

Hi all! I have had two of these mopeds. He goes perfectly, not too much from a place, but then he goes well and puts an arrow at 60 kilometers per hour! The moped is very high quality and comfortable, the front lever fork does its job (although they say it is dangerous in corners, I did not notice). Four of us rode it, and two big ones (about 80 kg) and it accelerated to 50 kilometers per hour (you can’t do this, it dies quickly)! It is advisable to ride 1-2 people, then it will last a long time if it is originally alive (Japanese piston and crankshaft in the work of which they did not interfere in our garages)! Fuel consumption with traffic jams in the city and a very active ride up to five liters. On one of the mopeds, the light turned off and it consumed less fuel per liter approximately. The track is about 3 liters. Be careful when hard braking only the front brake, the probability of falling is very high (on the other motorcycle technology never seen this)! AF20!

I bought this last season from my hands in a somewhat tired state for 35k. Replaced the crankshaft, tires and now I can not get enough! Great moped. I am 30 years old, 80 kg. I go to work every day. By the way, at the end of the season I will sell, because by the next season I will change to the Hornet.

Hello readers of this article! I want to tell you about a two-seater scooter, the world-famous Honda brand.

Almost a year ago I became the proud owner of a 100cc Honda Lead. The condition, at the time of purchase, was to put it mildly “not ice”, the plastic is cracked, I generally keep quiet about painting (at least 3 different colors, which seemed to be laid with a broom), the ignition switch did not work, it is generally unknown in the wiring what was going on and much more ... I was pleased that after long downtime(about a year) wound up almost immediately. Of course, for this I had to dig a little, but these are trifles)

First impressions after tact af-24 are absolutely amazing! What I immediately felt was that soft suspension I naturally liked it. The large and comfortable seat makes it very easy and comfortable to ride even with a passenger. The only negative is that it is rather small and sometimes clings to its belly. The trunk makes it easy to install a wardrobe trunk, but I don’t see the point in this, since a Vega helmet fits under the seat with ease. Regarding the engine, yes, there is more than enough power, fifty kopecks are nervously smoking on the sidelines. Different climbs, driving over rough terrain for Lidka is not a problem. Brakes: front disc, rear drum, installed system combined braking, so that the stop is almost instantaneous. The light is excellent, I don’t use the far one, the near one is enough with my head. The tank is 7.5 liters, at a speed of 60-70 km / h the scooter consumes 2.5 liters, you can also go long distances. For the entire period of operation, it practically did not let down, and if it did, then I myself was to blame. If you change consumables in time, and do not save on their quality, then the device is very reliable!

Moved from Chinese d *** ma to lead is just stunning. Here are comparisons like a Cossack and a Mercedes.

I have Lida 90 cubic meters, mileage 41414 km. for all the time I changed the belt, the speedometer lays down, the only thing I don’t understand is why the finger began to wiggle and there was not a big vibration of the roofing felts in front, roofing felts in the back. gasoline takes about 3.5, depending on the speed. The device is just a thing, the main thing is to follow it and it is really eternal! the only drawback, which is real because of the optics, is a little uncomfortable when the trucks are oncoming, it blows a little ......

Good day to all! I bought a Lid 90 a week ago. My first moped. I took it without a run across the Russian Federation in a motor show. The price for prepared ones is from 30 thousand. it all depends on the year of manufacture and volume. from a private trader in Russia, you can buy cheaper. but no guarantee. And she needs. Died two days ago. Take it to the salon. They said that some kind of petal valve came off. immediately replaced. By driving performance I am completely satisfied. Accelerated to 90 km / h. Further afraid. Although the stock was still. Maybe these test drives caused the breakdown. although the masters said vryatli. it is simply impossible to foresee everything on a moped that came from Japan, so they give a guarantee. I hope this was my first and last disappointment with this moped.
