The debt crisis hit hard on cars in Europe, or rather on their production. Sales of new cars of low and medium cost decreased significantly. About 60% of owner-buyers are commercial figures. The study showed that more than half of the study participants are owners of foreign cars (62%), and the majority of respondents (91%) own cars (see Fig. No. 1).

Interestingly, more than 1/2 of foreign car owners (55%) noted that they bought new cars. New cars domestic production acquired by a significantly smaller number of respondents - about a third. Basically, vehicles of the domestic auto industry were bought by their real owners in a used condition (see Fig. No. 2).
It turned out that depending on age and gender, people choose different cars. Thus, almost half of male drivers under the age of 20 noted that they drive domestic cars (48%). By the age of 30, many change to foreign cars. More than 1/3 of the stronger sex aged 20-29 are car owners foreign production. Among the even older generation (30-39 years old), there are even more men who own "Russian" cars (41%). As for women, they prefer to immediately drive foreign cars. The results of the study also show that women start driving later than men: most often, women drivers can be found among motorists aged 20-29 years (42%), and women who drive foreign-made cars at this age are almost 3 times more than those who travel by domestic cars (see Fig. No. 2).

In general, the majority of respondents spend driving the same car from 1 to 3 years, and 48% of them are owners of foreign cars (see Fig. No. 4). Most likely, this is due to the warranty period that every foreign-made car bought new has. “As practice shows, people quickly get used to good things,” sums up Viktoria Sokolova, research director at Profi Online Research. “Once the warranty expires, people are trying to throw off their old cars and get brand new ones so that they can forget about the problems associated with their repair and maintenance again for the next few years.”

How Russians buy cars
It's no secret that the vast majority of owners domestic cars have cars of the VAZ brand (see Fig. No. 4.1). The leading position among the brands of foreign-made cars, both among men and women, is occupied by Toyota. At the same time, the majority of respondents noted that they were not ready to wait for a car of the desired configuration for more than 1 month (about ¼ of the respondents). However, there is a fairly large segment of buyers (48%) who are ready to wait up to 3 months or even more.

The analysis also showed that for respondents under the age of 20, car characteristics such as design and color come first. For the older generation (from 30 years old), such parameters as the type of drive, engine type, fuel consumption and the cost of maintaining the car turned out to be more important.

It turned out that more than half of the study participants did not resort to loans when buying their car (both domestic and foreign) - they were able to pay the entire required amount at once. However, of those who still had to borrow money from the bank, as a rule, they bought a foreign car (35%). Analysis of the data showed that women take out a loan to buy a car more often than men. This trend can be explained by the fact that the fairer sex more often than men buy foreign-made cars (which, of course, cost more than domestic ones).

Where do Russians buy cars?
Having decided to buy a used car, people usually use a fairly wide range of information sources to help them in their search. desired machine. The proportion of those who buy cars in car dealerships is also large. Most likely, these people choose to overpay for the guarantees provided to them, which other intermediaries cannot provide.

In a new publication, RBC examines the fleet of official vehicles of the largest ministries and departments, including the transport of the most senior officials.
What and how we thought
On July 23, 2015, a member of the Blue Buckets community in LiveJournal posted a photo from a parked on pedestrian crossing and equipped with an Audi flasher with license plate number A 141 MP97. In the passenger of the car, he recognized Sabir Kekhlerov, Deputy Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika.
In the register of federal property, which was studied by RBC, this state number is indeed listed for the Prosecutor General's Office. The maintenance of such a register was authorized by the government in 2007. But, apparently, this order is not carried out very carefully. So, according to the Federal Property Management Agency, the prosecutor's office has 2.2 thousand cars and lungs commercial vehicles, in the same department of RBC they said that it had about 4.3 thousand cars at its disposal. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which, according to the register, together with its representative offices and subordinate organizations, manages a little more than 600 cars, told RBC that the ministry itself has no cars at all. The Federal Penitentiary Service reported that she only had cars more than 8 thousand, while only 1.3 thousand are recorded in the register.
At the same time, the data in the list of the Federal Property Management Agency are presented chaotically, with errors and typos. At the same time, information about the cars of the presidential guard, including license plates, is in the public domain, while the Federal Security Service (FSO) itself answered RBC's request that this information is a state secret.

RBC analyzed the fleet of potentially largest car owners - the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Federal Drug Control Service, the Investigative Committee, the prosecutor's office, the Federal Tax Service, the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Health, including their subordinate organizations and territorial divisions, as well as the Office of the President (UDP), whose enterprises are Avtotransportny Kombinat , "Transport Combine" Rossiya "and" Avtobaza No. 2 "serve the president, the government, the Federation Council, the State Duma, constitutional Court, CEC, Accounts Chamber and other high-ranking officials.
Special transport was not taken into account. As a result of the selection, the number of cars and light commercial vehicles amounted to about 50 thousand. Due to the fact that the register was filled inaccurately, in some places the price for one car (we took the initial cost of the vehicle) reached several billion or hundreds of millions of rubles - in such cases we have adjusted the amounts according to the average.
Machines in the service of society
As expected, the Interior Ministry turned out to be the leader in terms of the number of vehicles: it has more than 30,000 vehicles. It is unlikely that this numerical advantage is due to the fact that the police represent data most accurately among federal departments - in the register, information on movable property, the copyright holder of which is the Ministry of Internal Affairs, contains the largest number of errors.
In the fleet of departments analyzed by RBC, the oldest transport - manufactured in 1970 - is the UAZ of Ivanovo firefighters. In total, cars older than 2000 release - a little more than a thousand.
The most popular car, a fifth of the entire fleet, is the Ford Focus, a budget car with an average cost of 640,000. The Focus has dominated public procurement since 2003 (only in 2013, officials made an exception for Volkswagen Passat). Focus has been produced in Vsevolozhsk since 2002, so officials have been following the course of import substitution for many years. As RBC found out at the end of last year, ordinary Russians had a Lada from 2000 to 2014, and in 2015, Lada Granta models were the most sold in Russia.
In second place in terms of the number of cars in the fleet is the UAZ Patriot, but the statistics were somewhat “spoiled” by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which owns 80% of UAZs. But the third place in popularity is also occupied by Ford, but the Mondeo model, bought by departments on average for 1 million rubles. “Mondeo is the best price offer in the business class segment, this factor was most likely the determining factor,” suggests Sergey Baranov, Chief Editor magazine "AutoBusinessReview". Brands and models are selected according to the following principle: production on the territory of the Russian Federation, maintaining the uniformity of the fleet ( Toyota Camry, Ford Focus, Nissan Almera, Chevrolet Niva, UAZ "Patriot", GAZ), taking into account such parameters as price-quality and maintainability, employees of the Prosecutor General's Office indicated in a response to RBC.

There are legends about transport excesses of officials, but, as it turned out, this mainly concerns the price of a car, and the set of stamps from departments is standard. So, only one Jaguar was found in the registry - the XF model of 2008, on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (judging by the number, it may belong to the representative office in Rostov-on-Don), but it was bought, as follows from the data provided, for only 1, 1 million rubles
SUVs make up almost a fifth of all cars in the array analyzed by RBC. In addition to the Land Cruiser and the already mentioned Patriots, the UAZ-3151 and Chevrolet Niva are popular, SsangYong Kyron is a budget South Korean crossover ( average price- 760 thousand rubles, going to Vladivostok). in demand and Mitsubishi Pajero(on average - 1.5 million rubles), in 2013, the production of its Sport modification began in Kaluga.
Both luxury and vehicle
In total, there are 1.3 thousand cars in the register that are more expensive than 3 million rubles, another 3.3 thousand - worth more than 1.5 million and less than 3 million rubles. The most expensive cars belong to the FSO. The fleet of presidential guards is expectedly superior in quality to all others: the main brands are Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.
It's no secret that Vladimir Putin drives a Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman - there are 11 of these in the FSO register, including the very old ones from 1996-2000. In total, there are 48 Mercedes-Benz S600s in the FSO database, each costing from 6 to 64 million rubles. Four cars cost more than 60 million rubles, eight more cars cost the budget 40-60 million rubles.
According to the law on state protection, the FSO, in addition to the president, is engaged in transport services for the heads of foreign states in Russia, reminds Stepan Doronin from the Alliance of Veterans and Garage Employees special purpose FSO: "And everyone should be given a Mercedes." In general, the most expensive cars in the registry are from the southern regions of the country (not only the republics, but also the surrounding territories and regions), and the further south, the more executive cars in the region (see infographic). The presidential administration has other leaders - three BMW 760 for 24.4, 18.6 and 17 million rubles. On December 18, one of the car depots of the Presidential Administration, the Rossiya transport plant, decided to renew its fleet once again. The plant needed 45 vehicles with an average cost of more than 2.2 million rubles. (the make and model, according to the law, were not indicated in the documentation) and 11 more cars for an average of 1.1 million rubles. - in addition to the already existing more than 4 thousand cars and commercial vehicles total cost of 6.5 billion rubles. And this is not the only purchase for the year: only this plant in 2015 purchased 432 new cars for 535 million rubles. The reason for the expansion of the fleet is unknown: RBC's request to the UDP remained unanswered.
Meanwhile, the “daughters” of the managerial departments not only transport high-ranking officials, but also offer cars for rent to everyone, the scope of activity is from “organizing daily business trips to creating pompous motorcades” (quote from the Motor Transport Plant website). Judging by the price list of the Rossiya plant, you can feel like an official for less than 1 thousand rubles. at one o'clock. In general, the UDP vehicle fleet is not diverse. The most popular car is the Ford Mondeo, out of more than 4 thousand cars in the fleet of the department, more than 1.7 thousand fall on this particular model.

The decree on import substitution in relation to cars was signed by Dmitry Medvedev only in 2014, but in the car fleet the manager has long been mainly BMW of Kaliningrad assembly and Ford of Vsevolozhsk.
However, it is impossible to do without the help of foreign intermediaries in providing Russian government agencies with transport. According to the public procurement database, the main supplier of vehicles for the UDP is Avilon AG, the founder of which, according to SPARK, is New York Motors Corp., registered in the United States. The owner of the company is called businessman Alexander Varshavsky, who, together with the cousin of the President of Russia Igor Putin, was on the board of directors of the manufacturer of thermal insulation materials Thermosteps-MTL, Novaya Gazeta wrote. Problems of "Avilon"
Earlier, Avilon almost lost the right to supply officials with Mercedes.
