Thus, the cost of the "optimal" Octavia will be 784-794 thousand rubles, depending on the combination of gearbox and engine described above. In order not to be upset, pay attention to the fact that Octavia with a 1.6-liter engine and automatic transmission in the same configuration costs only 60 thousand rubles cheaper. Skoda Octavia station wagon and "Ambition" configuration costs up to 789 thousand rubles, but this is with a 1.6-liter engine. Which we rejected. 1.4 and 1.8 TSI engines are available only in the "Elegance" configuration and equipped with automatic transmissions, such cars cost 929 and 939 thousand rubles, respectively. The station wagon is good because it is installed and turbodiesel engine, but such an Octavia Cimbi costs from 999 to 1,124 thousand rubles, which is completely unrealistic.
Another choice
Prices Volkswagen Golf or Jetta in similar trim levels (but a little richer) are almost the same: 810 and 850 thousand, respectively. In this case, the motors and gearboxes will be similar. If desired, for the same money (781 thousand rubles) you can buy an Audi A1 Sportback with a 1.4 TFSI engine and a manual gearbox (class "B" cars). The same is the cost of Skoda Yeti with a 1.2 TSI engine (105 hp) and a DSG box, or a sports Skoda Fabia RS, as well as Roomster Scout in the maximum configuration. And having paid only 100 thousand rubles, you can become the owner of a Skoda Superb with a 1.8 TSI engine (152 hp) and a manual transmission, or an Audi A3 Sportback with a 1.2 TFSI engine (105 hp) and mechanics. As you can see, even within the same concern and even brand, the choice, to put it mildly, is great - there is something to think about.

But 784-794 thousand rubles is not the final cost of the Skoda Octavia. The car will also need floor mats, which are purchased for separate money. If you reasonably believe that modern car should be more convenient and safer, you should definitely choose "Ambient". At first glance, you will have to pay a lot - 70,000 rubles. However, for this money you will get a completely different Octavia - with heated front seats, air conditioning, an on-board computer, an alarm system, a pair of airbags, a very convenient 2-din MP3 radio with eight speakers, a rain sensor, a quartet of electric windows and additional interior lighting lamps . In the case of choosing an automatic transmission, the car also relies on ESP, coupled with an assistant when starting on a hill. Finally, such a machine will have a noble 2-tone sound signal instead of a high-frequency "whistle". And for 26-35 thousand, you can add a couple of fairly profitable packages of additional equipment to the Ambient.
True, with the advent of such package offers, it became impossible to equip the optimal hatchback in the Ambient configuration with a rear wiper and parking sensors, nets in the trunk, a folding sofa armrest and other pleasant and inexpensive little things.
All these positions have been integrated into the version "Elegance". This configuration also includes cruise and climate control, 15-inch alloy wheels, side airbags, fog lights and a more convenient on-board computer with a Maxi Dot display. However, at the price of "Elegance" comes close to too high by the standards budget cars mark of 800 thousand rubles. Yes, and the packages of additional equipment here are drawn up more taking into account the interests of the seller, rather than in favor of the buyer: inflatable "curtains" of safety, for example, you will receive only with light alloy wheels and electric folding mirrors.
The hatchback can also be ordered in modification RS. The highlight of the car is a powerful 200-horsepower turbo engine and all kinds of sports attributes. True, the price is decent - 1,119,000 rubles.
Station wagons with 1.8T and 2.0TDi engines are also available in the Laurin & Klement version. This is already a kind of claim for an exclusive, which is also emphasized by the price - from 1,064,000 to 1,124,000 rubles. Such cars are rich in expensive leather trim, power driver's seat, six airbags and adaptive xenon headlights.
What engine?
1st place: 1.6 l (102 hp). The best option in terms of price and consumer qualities. Despite the modest power, this well-deserved Volkswagen 8-valve gives the car acceptable dynamics, but only with a manual gearbox. With a 6-speed "automatic" its character noticeably fades, although the box itself captivates with smooth switching.
2nd place: 1.4T (122 HP). The turbo engine is worthy replacement rather capricious 1.6FSi engine (115 hp), which was installed on the Octavia until 2010. The newcomer is distinguished by high torque, enviable efficiency and gives the car excellent dynamics. However, it is 40,000 more expensive than the optimum and is also more demanding on fuel quality.
3rd place: 1.8T (152 HP). The motor, well known to the owners of the Passat, turns the Octavia into an athlete with outstanding dynamics (7.8 s) in five minutes. And the reliable 6-speed automatic transmission that appeared at the end of last year, which replaced the 7-speed DSG “robot”, endowed the “Czech” with a slightly less dynamic, but much smoother acceleration. The only drawback of this engine is the price: it is more expensive than the optimal 1.6-liter engine by a significant 70,000 rubles.
4th place: 1.4 l (80 hp). For a relatively heavy Octavia, it is frankly weak, and besides, you can buy it only in an ascetic basic configuration. True, thanks to the short main pair, it is quite punchy in the city and is 50,000 rubles cheaper than the optimal 1.6 liter.
5th place: 2.0 L (140 hp). An excellent turbodiesel, very smartly carries not only the Octavia, but also much more heavy models Volkswagen. At the same time, he is famous for his modest appetite. However, in Russia, diesel is rather out of the competition, since only a station wagon can be purchased with it. And such a version will cost at least 999,000 rubles.
6th place: 2.0T (200 HP). It is offered only in the RS version, which entails a sporty chassis setting with a stiffer suspension and other costs of a charged modification. Solid, comfortable and carefully finished, roomy and at the same time endowed with reckless controllability, the Octavia-Ambient-1.6, painted with a metallic finish, will cost 690,000 - this is quite a humane price for a modern european car. If not for some distortions of package equipment, the popularity of the car would be even higher.

Making a choice among modifications is not so easy.

Needless to say, most likely, the Russian buyer would opt for it, given the prices and opportunities.
But away with sadness and regret, because indeed the surcharge for the extra 35 horses will affect the excellent dynamics. Skoda Octavia with 140 hp the engine accelerates to 100 km in just 8.4 seconds. Besides, this modification and much more economical, as it burns only 6.5 l / 100 km at an urban pace.
