What is the difference between yeti and outdoor. What are the fundamental differences between cars: Skoda Yeti Monte Carlo and Yeti Outdoor? Prices for the new Skoda Yeti

The difference in price between the ordinary Skoda Yeti and the Yeti in the Outdoor configuration is 9 thousand rubles. The overpayment is not big, but what will the future owner get for this money? It's simple: unpainted plastic around the lower edge of the car in a circle and the Off-Road button in the cabin, which is responsible for adapting security systems to off-road driving and dampens the effect of pressing the gas pedal, which prevents wheel slip and subsequent bogging down in mud, snow or sand. Actually, that's all. Just such a “Yeti” turned out to be on our test.

But still good Skoda Yeti. I remember the moment and my first feelings when I saw him for the first time. Then it was a rejection. Against the backdrop of a general desire to “round out”, the Czechs showed that they did not want to go the beaten track and gave out something cube-like, with a lowered nose and a high cabin. Today I can honestly say that I like Yeti. How? Yes, at least the fact that he is not like everyone else.

When you drive a well-driving car with a high-torque 152-horsepower 1.8-liter engine blown up by a turbine, and you can even “bulk” in corners, enjoying its maneuverability and tenacity, I assure you that all suspicions of a strange design, if any, will go to the second plan. It is very pleasant to work with the gas pedal in the Yeti. You press, you know, and you get as much traction as you expect, regardless of whether you start from a traffic light or you need a sharp jerk when overtaking.

Pleasant to work and robotic gearbox DSG. Shifts are swift, and a continuous flow of power from the engine to the wheels is ensured by the two-shaft dual-clutch shifting system implemented in the box. In fact, in one gearbox, engineers combined two gearboxes - one for even, the other for odd gears.

However, this box also has some unpleasant moments. Shocks when switching, clanging or loss of traction, overheating or wear of mechatronics. This mainly happens when using cars of the Volkswagen group, which also includes the Skoda Yeti, in cities in conditions of heavy traffic jams. And not the perfection of the design and lubrication system of the DSG box leads to costly repairs.

Boxes with a dry clutch or otherwise DSG-7 were especially prone to this problem. And she got out on runs from 20 to 30 thousand kilometers. However, on the Internet, inquisitive minds found instructions on how to get rid of, at least, the shocks that appeared when switching by resetting the settings. The remaining problems of the box are solved only by qualified repairs.

The wet-clutch DSG-6 is fitted to cars with more powerful engines, including our 1.8-liter Yeti, and is reported to be more reliable on the forums. But flaws are also present. And the prices for boxes and repairs are awful: so the price tag for new DSG gearboxes varies, depending on the model, at the prices of the first company that appeared in the search engine, from 190,000 rubles to 260,000 rubles. Refurbished boxes - from 90,000 to 150,000 rubles. A new mechatronics (a robot that controls the mechanics of the box) costs a little less than a restored box - from 80 to 120 thousand rubles. A restored mechatronics from 42 to 60 thousand rubles. However, who is looking for, you will always find cheaper.

Otherwise, among the owners' reviews of the Skoda Yeti, you can find a positive ownership experience. People like the car, they like the powerful 152-horsepower engine and driving characteristics. Among the shortcomings, there is a weak paintwork on pre-styling cars and a windshield, the car quickly gets dirty (Especially under the hood and the glass of the trunk lid. Water and dirt from the windshield also flow onto the side windows), a modest size of the trunk.

As for maintenance, then, reading the forums of the owners, one can come to the conclusion that servicing the car at an authorized dealer after the warranty has expired does not make sense due to high maintenance prices. And here it is impossible not to agree with the forum users. But, comparing the prices for maintenance of a car under warranty, the conclusion suggests itself that the price tag from dealers is not so humane. Judge for yourself: TO-1 at an authorized dealer for Skoda Yeti will cost 10,133 rubles, TO-2 at 12,900 rubles, TO-3 at 10,133 rubles and the fourth TO - 20,952 rubles. At an unofficial dealer (the first one found in a search engine), but with the same technical capacities and regulations of the manufacturing plant, TO-1 will cost 9,640 rubles, TO-2 at 11,900 rubles. The conclusion suggests itself: it's not worth the risk.

Well, perhaps it is worth raising another topical issue - about insurance. Every car enthusiast wants to insure their car cheaper, but with the greatest benefit for themselves. In this chapter, we present a sample of three top ten insurance companies in Russia. And we will insure Skoda Yeti with a 1.8-liter engine with a minimum price of 1,330,000 rubles per man, unmarried, with two children, with a driving experience of 19 years.

So, Rosgosstrakh. To calculate the CASCO insurance on the website of the insurance company, you must enter a bunch of all kinds of data, including your full name. And when you click calculate CASCO, you are also offered to enter a mobile phone in order to send a verification code to it. But we know what will follow this: a lot of calls and spam in the form of SMS with an offer to insure, etc. and so on. And why is it for a person who went to the site just to find out the approximate cost of CASCO? It's inconvenient, let's go!

Ingosstrakh. Traditionally convenient and simple. Select Auto, then CASCO, then click calculate. And, voila… All kinds of options and types of insurance under the CASCO system. Choose what suits you. As a result, the preliminary price for insurance under the CASCO system of a 152-horsepower Yeti for your humble servant without a deductible from damage and theft is 71,061 rubles. "Do you want cheaper?" asks the site below. And he answers himself: “Turn on the franchise.” Everything is clear and convenient. The hand itself reached for the phone.

Alfastrakhovanie is no less convenient than Ingosstrakh. But, the criteria for evaluating a car are somewhat different. In addition, even the maximum price tag for a car on the insurer's website does not correspond to the minimum cost of Yeti with a 1.8-liter engine. Plus, they impose a franchise on you, which I could not refuse. But the price tag for insurance here turned out to be two times lower than that of the previous insurer - 37,635 rubles per year under the Alfa-Business system and 29,882 rubles under the 50x50+ insurance system for experienced drivers.

Here, in fact, this is how, in my opinion, an approximate approach to choosing a new car looks like for most experienced motorists and beginners. First, you read a test drive, then reviews and information about possible problems, then you calculate the cost of maintenance and insurance. Well, after that you carry your money to the dealer. Is your approach different from ours? Share your experience!

Like Bigfoot - everyone knows about its existence, but almost no one has seen it. And, if we compare sales with other models of the brand, then the figures will come out quite modest. But Yeti, in fact, was one of the first subcompact crossovers, and the now popular extraordinary Juke appeared only a year later. In Europe, the Yeti was well received by the public, won several prestigious awards and even successfully competed for the title of "Car of the Year 2010". But why such a modest interest in him in Ukraine? Maybe restyling will help change the situation? The first opportunity to answer this question was presented to the InfoCar.ua team at a field test in Germany, where Yeti stepped from the glamorous Frankfurt podium onto real off-road. Yes, yes, despite the class of the car, quite serious tests were prepared for him ...

new face

As such, the Yeti model has practically no backstory - it is new and unique for the Skoda brand. True, Volkswagen did help with the "stuffing". The platform with the PQ35 index was taken as the basis, on which the second generation Octavia, Volkswagen Tiguan and some other models of the concern were already based. Many components and assemblies are also well known from VAG models. But the body and its design was its own, completely different from the others.

Most of all, the front part with the original light optics stood out. "Regular" headlights were complemented by round, neatly inscribed on the edges of the grille. Thanks to this difference, it was possible to recognize a mile away, even during the day, even at night. And the same feature made the exterior of the car somehow playful toy. As a result, along with the cubic appearance, the crossover was perceived as very, very unusual.

Apparently, Skoda decided it was time to give the model more seriousness. Therefore, the lion's share of changes fell on the front of the car. Now it is made in the modern corporate style of the brand - more smooth lines and edges, a branded radiator grille with a new emblem, a completely different bumper. Strict headlights can now be equipped with bi-xenon light, and foglights have "moved" to their usual place at the bottom of the bumper. At the rear, there are even fewer changes: only the lower part of the trunk lid has changed - the number plate is now framed with sharper edges - and a new emblem has appeared. As usual with restyling, the color palette and the choice of rims have expanded. By the way, if desired, the roof can be ordered in a different color - white or black.

In order to compensate for the original appearance that has gone into the past, designers and marketers (and this is probably their idea to a greater extent) decided on an interesting step. Now Yeti is offered in two versions (not to be confused with trim levels) - regular and Outdoor. The usual option is positioned as an urban one, but it is addressed to lovers of frequent outings into nature. However, the difference between them is small, but in fairness, we note that Outdoor is about 200 USD. expensive. The "off-road" version flaunts black plastic sills instead of painted ones, silver exterior mirrors and other design of the lower part of the front bumper. The “urban” version has a horizontal silver lining, while the off-road version has a U-shaped one. If I may say so, the latter is a bit rougher. There are no other differences, and both versions exist in both two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.

Although a small subtlety is still found. For cars with junior gasoline (1.2 TSI) and diesel (1.6 TDI Green tec) engines in the usual “urban” version, the ground clearance will not be 180, but 155 mm. The logic is obvious - if you get not the most powerful front-wheel drive version for city driving, then you are unlikely to need high ground clearance.

But this does not apply to our market, where the above-mentioned modifications are not supplied, therefore, at the first distribution of cars, my choice fell on the Skoda Yeti with a 1.4 TSI petrol (122 hp) and a DSG automatic transmission. Now this engine is offered in Ukraine only in tandem with a 6-speed "mechanics", but the import of a version with automatic transmission is also being considered. So let's see what kind of animal it is!

In the cabin

While a colleague was taking the Yeti out on the German autobahns, I settled into the passenger seat and decided to find differences in the cabin. A couple of minutes would have been enough for me for this procedure, because there are at least differences! New steering wheel and decorative pads on the dashboard. In our car, for example, there was a silver glossy insert that somehow diluted the dominant black color in the interior. But the equipment is maximum, Elegance, equipped with all kinds of options. The most interesting of them are the almost full-roof panoramic roof with a sliding sunroof, a rear-view camera and an automatic parking assistant in parallel or perpendicular. He can not only park the Yeti, but also help him get out of the parking lot. Such "buns" are unlikely to be available with us, but here you are, and even with a 1.4 TSI engine.

But our customers will certainly get the branded VarioFlex interior transformation system. Needless to say, Czech engineers disposed of a small space to the maximum. Let's start with the fact that, thanks to a well-chosen high seating position in the rear seats, I was not cramped in space and did not reach the front seat, sitting "by myself" (my height is 1.82). If you need to find a compromise between luggage space and the comfort of the rear passengers, the side seats of the second row (all three seats are separate here) can be moved back and forth by 150 mm or change the angle of their backrest. After such manipulations, the volume of the luggage compartment increases from 405 to 510 liters. Further - more: all three seats are folded separately, or even completely removed from the cabin. In the absence of a middle one, the side ones can be moved to the center, getting two separate and more spacious places. In addition, the back of the front passenger seat can also be folded down - this is in case of transporting long items.

A lot of space was found for containers and boxes. They are on the front panel, in the door cards in front and behind (this includes bottles), under the front armrest and even under the passenger seat. And as an option, it is possible to order folding tables in the backs of the front seats. In general, going even on a long journey, there will be where to put various "small things".

The trunk is offhand small, and the loading height is a bit high (712 mm), but special roof rails with hooks for attaching small loads, niches under the raised floor and small pockets near the wheel arches bribe. As I mentioned, the trunk volume in the standard configuration varies from 405 to 510 liters - depending on the position of the rear row of seats. If they are removed, then the free space will grow to 1760 liters. True, intuition tells me that the volume is calculated taking into account the underground and the "living" space for bags and suitcases is less.

Drive

But it's time to get behind the wheel! I like the high landing in Yeti, it is somewhat similar to a minivan and, with the right settings, does not tire even on a long journey. True, the location of the steering wheel was embarrassing, which is installed with a large inclination from the driver, and this cannot be corrected by adjustment. As if the car provokes you to sit even higher. The rest of the settings are in order and there are no problems. Let me remind you that we were the first to get Yeti in the "urban" version on the front-wheel drive, with a 1.4 engine (122 hp) and a 7-speed DSG. For a long time, such a power unit was not in the Yeti engine range in Ukraine, and now it is available only with a 6-speed "mechanics". The cost of such a version after restyling ranges from 203.500 UAH in the Active configuration (it is also part-time "base") to 219.200 UAH. available in Ambition and Outdoor versions.

A crossover with such an engine drives very lively, sometimes even provocatively, although the curb weight of the car is rather big - 1400 kg. The main advantage of this unit lies in the impressive torque of 200 Newton meters, which, moreover, is already available from 1500 rpm and "holds" up to four. Therefore, even on the narrow mountain roads along which our route ran, there is no lack of dynamics or traction, not to mention city traffic. Yes, and DSG is good - it always knows which gear to choose, and on steep hairpins when climbing uphill, it will always tuck in the right gear, so that the driver does not feel a jerk or interruption in power. Few would be able to handle "mechanics" in the same way. Yes, and the difference in consumption is small: 7.9 versus 8.3 for DSG in the combined cycle. And everything would be fine, but only the owners of such automatic boxes were far from always satisfied with their reliability. However, representatives of Skoda assured us that the box was finalized, the problems were eliminated, and, accordingly, reliability should increase. Well, let's wait and see!

The suspension holds corners as well as it shakes noticeably on rough roads. It is harsh, even for almost ideal European roads. By the way, during our run through the towns and mountain paths, the average consumption was 8.5 liters with air conditioning.

After changing cars, we got a petrol 1.8 TSI (160 hp) with a 6-speed "mechanics". Such Yeti exist both in the "urban" and in the Outdoor version, but only with all-wheel drive (fork prices from UAH 244.200 to UAH 258.100). Unlike 1.4 TSI, which, on the contrary, is only monodrive. The 1.8 TSI is the most powerful, second only to the 2.0 TDI (170 hp), but the fastest engine for the Yeti. It is over 2 seconds faster to 100 than 1.4 and hits that mark in 8.4 seconds. And we came across such a unit very handy - before throwing along the autobahn. A solid torque (250 Newtons in the range of 1500-4500 thousand) allowed our Yeti to stay very confident in the flow of the high-speed German highway. And the traffic dynamics on the Koln-Düsseldorf section is very tense, constant overtaking, advancing, braking and intensive acceleration. Moreover, such traffic is observed in this region both late in the evening and early in the morning. Getting stuck in a traffic jam at the beginning of the eighth morning on a four-lane autobahn is a common thing here. Well, just like we have on the outskirts of Troyeschina. But when the traffic starts to go, everyone prefers to accelerate "at full speed". So, Yeti 1.8 TSI was the most suitable version for such exercises. Only the work of a manual gearbox and pedals required very delicate and delicate handling. Slightly out of tune - you immediately feel how the car is "nervous", twitches. Interestingly, despite such a pace of driving, the average consumption easily fit into 8 liters per hundred.

Off-road - for dessert

The organizers prepared the most interesting for us for dessert. Anyone who reads our field tests abroad must have noticed that it is almost impossible to find "free" off-road in Europe. That is why a whole range was prepared for us! In fairness, we note that it was created specifically for such events and is used by many car companies to demonstrate the capabilities of their models. Depending on the steepness of the SUV, a certain route is built, which includes easy or difficult obstacles. So, contrary to our assumptions, the track for Yeti was far from the easiest! If I had been here for the first time myself, I would certainly have doubted that the car could overcome all this.

But the instructor confidently shows us the way and we follow him. Of the preparations - just pressing the Offroad button. It changes the settings of the ABS, ASR and EDS systems, and also activates the hill descent assistance. By and large, electronics make life easier for the driver, leaving only the steering wheel and pedals in his charge. And in the case of the "automatic", as we have it at all ... sit and watch a movie. And the movie was interesting! First we climbed a rocky slope, then overcame a small ford, struggled with diagonal hanging (and very successfully), jumped over bumps and slightly kneaded the mud. But it became really scary when we were offered to go down the wet slope to the log bridge, behind which there was a sharp departure to the right up. For some reason, I thought that "in which case" it would be better to go sideways into a ditch than straight into the trees ... But Skoda Yeti was cold-blooded - skillfully playing with traction and brakes, she carefully descended, drove through an impromptu bridge and climbed up the hill . After all these exercises, you understand that the all-wheel drive in the Yeti still means something and can come in handy in real conditions.

It should be noted here that 4x4 underwent modernization after restyling - instead of the fourth generation Haldex, the same clutch was registered here, but already in the fifth generation, the newest today.

It is lighter by 1.5 kilograms, works even faster than its predecessor and is easier to maintain (the oil change interval in the clutch has been increased). As before, at least 4% of the torque is constantly transmitted to the rear axle, and in the event of a slip of the front wheels, up to 90% of all traction is sent to the rear. Thanks to Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) on both axles, Yeti is quite successful in dealing with diagonal hanging. Looking under the car, I found a pretty competent layout of the drive and exhaust. The latter bends around the clutch block from the side, without reducing the ground clearance (180 mm).

So with what a potential owner may require from the Yeti, within reason, the car should cope.

Eventually

Now we seem to know enough to sum up. As such, the Skoda Yeti is a very successful car that combines technology, modern format, ride quality and (now) good looks. In addition, the Czechs have expanded the list of performance options, which should certainly attract new customers. Of course, not everyone will like the rigid suspension, but good dynamics and off-road capability are definitely in the pluses of this car. It would seem, what more could you want? Prices! Competitive price is not enough Skoda Yeti!

Let's take a look at the current price. Starting price - 203.500 UAH. for the 1.4 TSI engine with 6-speed "mechanics". If you choose not urban, but Outdoor execution, you will get 205.100 UAH. Next in the rankings is the Yeti with a 1.8 TSI engine, all-wheel drive and a choice of automatic transmission (6DSG). Price - from 244.200 UAH. The diesel version 2.0 TDI (140 hp) is the most expensive, it is offered with us only with "mechanics" and only with all-wheel drive. Even without comparison with competitors, it is noticeable that it is expensive. And if you compare...

Direct rivals such as the Opel Mokka, Chevrolet Tracker, Peugeot 2008 and Nissan Juke all have starting offers under UAH 200,000. In addition, in the price category "up to 200" you can also pick up Nissan Qashqai, SsangYong Korando and Mitsubishi ASX. And only if we compare all-wheel drive modifications, the initial price tags will come out approximately equal. Although here, Yeti will not be among the first. It turns out that everything was decided by the price. And until the price tags become more democratic, we, alas, cannot find a big success for Bigfoot.

Behind the scenes

The city of Wuppertal, through which our test route ran, could be one of hundreds of ordinary German cities, if not for one very interesting and original building. This is a monorail suspension road that runs through the city center and was built over 100 years (!) ago. Nevertheless, it is still functioning, carrying more than 25 million passengers a year. Suspended trains consisting, as a rule, of a pair of wagons run through 20 stations. In total, the length of the road is a little more than 13 km, and most of it passes over the Wupper River, after which the city is named.

The second thing that impressed me during the test was the very narrow secondary roads linking small villages. Very often, especially in hilly areas, their width narrows to one lane and it is not easy to pass even with a passenger car going to a meeting. And if a truck comes across ... However, we were lucky - the roads were deserted.

Down with the controversial headlights!

The Czechs from Skoda finally surrendered to the German conservatism of the VAG leadership. From now on, even one of the most controversial, but the brightest representatives of the brand will be the same as everyone else. The new Yeti was given a stylistic makeover, after which it lost one of the most controversial and interesting details - round foglights located under rectangular headlight blocks. Actually, thanks to photo spies, this news did not become a revelation for us, but hope for the best remained until the last. However, not fate.

In addition, the rest of the exterior has been thoroughly redesigned for the new Yeti. The plastic of the main panels remained the same, but the bumpers, in the manner of the recently introduced Octavia, became more angular, LEDs appeared in the brake lights, the range of rims increased and the color palette expanded.

Versions for the city and off-road

Another difference between the new "SUV" from the previous generation of the model is the division into modifications. The company's marketers decided to divide the model into two versions. The first is the urban Yeti. Bumpers and moldings in this design are painted in body color, there is a line of alloy wheels. The second version is Yeti Outdoor. This modification is distinguished by a more off-road decor in the form of unpainted plastic lining on the thresholds and bumpers, plus front pseudo-protection - a silver bumper trim.

Technically, there is no difference between Yeti regular and Yeti Outdoor. The Czechs did not begin to change something globally in the aggregate part of the car. This is, as before, a good crossover, which will be available on the market in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions (the torque is transmitted to the rear axle through the fifth generation Haldex clutch, previously the fourth generation Haldex). A wide range of engines includes both gasoline and diesel engines with power from 105 to 170 hp, three gearboxes: a 5-speed “mechanics” and a pair of robotic DSGs of various types.

Extended list of accessories

Of course, no restyling is complete without new special stages, and the Skoda Yeti is no exception. First of all, the Czechs boast of a new rear-view camera, which was previously inaccessible to the model, as well as an automatic parking system. By the way, the Yeti’s car valet can “moor” the car both parallel and perpendicular to the movement. The model also received a new Kessy system for it - keyless access to the car.

It is worth noting that the interior now includes as many as seven color options and new combinations of interior finishing materials. And also, for some reason, the Czechs are separately proud of this - Yeti received a new steering wheel. From Octavia.

At the moment, there are no Russian specifications, but the representative office of the brand promises that their offer will be quite attractive. The start of sales in our market is scheduled for the first quarter of next year, moreover, the production of the model at the facilities of GAZ will begin at the same time.

Skoda Yeti is often called a "funny" car - the headlights make the car a little "toy". Apparently, it seemed so not only to us, but also to the Czechs themselves. That is why they decided to change the appearance of their crossover and give it a few new options. The updated Yeti will reach us only in February next year, but “Auto Mail.Ru has already tested this machine.

Skoda Yeti still lost one of its most recognizable features - unusual round headlights that some liked and annoyed someone. As a result, the car immediately became more serious and ... Boring? Perhaps yes. That is why Skoda designers made two versions of the updated Yeti at once. There is a “simple” Yeti with body-colored bumpers, and there is an “off-road” version of the Yeti Outdoor. Although I will tell you a secret - there is nothing off-road in it. Nothing at all. Ground clearance is exactly the same as it was, and no downshifts are provided. Moreover, Yeti Outdoor can be bought with a drive on one axle and with a base engine of 1.2 liters.

So the main advantage of the Outdoor version is that it makes the appearance of the car more “masculine”. But at the same time, it should be borne in mind that Yeti Outdoor will be a little more expensive than “just Yeti”. In Germany, the difference between the two modifications is 200 euros, for sure, it will remain with us. So everyone must decide for himself whether the "off-road" model is worth such a surcharge or not.

What else has changed in the updated Yeti? Not too much: the finishing materials remained the same, the chairs are the same. But the steering wheel is new - the "steering wheel" with three spokes was put on the Yeti before, but now it has acquired a slightly different shape. The main innovation (now without this word anywhere) was the appearance of a rear-view camera. In Skoda, it is presented as a kind of curiosity, but we all know that such cameras have long been put on many budget models. However, the big plus of Skoda is that the camera here can be combined with an automatic valet. The last “assistant” could be found on the Yeti before, but the restyled car received the second generation Automatic Parking Assistant. And this means that the car can independently park both parallel and perpendicular. Not only that, Yeti also knows how to leave the parking lot. In general, there are not too many chances to scratch the bumper in a stupid way.

Residents of large cities should like the automatic parking system. At speeds up to 40 km / h, she herself will find a parking space, and then almost nothing depends on the driver. He only needs to shift gears at the request of the electronic mind and press the gas or brake. The wheel will turn itself! At the same time, if the driver completely relaxes, then the electronics will also stop the car itself. How much the second generation Automatic Parking Assistant will cost has not yet been reported. But the first generation system on the pre-styling Yeti could be obtained for 37,300 rubles. And for cars with a 1.2 liter engine, Automatic Parking Assistant already cost 55 thousand, because a stabilization system is also included with the valet

And yet, the main advantage of Yeti is not a parking system or even new headlights. More importantly, Yeti is not trying to deceive us. Yes, the Audi Q3 is better. Not only that, the Volkswagen Tiguan is also better. But that's okay - Yeti doesn't aim to be a champion or claim to be premium, period. Skoda knows its place. As a result, this model has frankly budget versions, which many manufacturers for some reason cynically ignore. It would seem that there is nothing easier than equipping a crossover with a small engine, cutting off all-wheel drive and not being ashamed to put an automatic gearbox along with a small motor.

The interior transformation possibilities of this small crossover are perhaps the best in the class. Each seat on the second row can be adjusted individually both in length and inclination of the backrest, and if necessary, even removed from the passenger compartment. Plus, you can order a folding front passenger seat (it costs 3,500 rubles), which will allow you to transport long items in the car

About this same machine - or rather, a gearbox with two DSG clutches - there is a lot of talk. And most of the time not too good. Those drivers who are unlucky say that the DSG can fail after 50-70 thousand kilometers. And these fears are not based on nothing. However, Skoda assures that the problems have now been resolved, and the reliability of the DSG has increased. Moreover, for all Volkswagen cars that have a dry clutch DSG-7, the clutch and mechatronics warranty is now 5 years or 150,000 km (wet clutch DSG-6, which come with a 1 .8 liter and 2.0 liter diesel, initially have much less problems). True, if in the event of a breakdown, according to the diagnostic results, a replacement of the DSG assembly is required, then after 2 years of operation it will not be possible to do this for free. And it's very sad.

Frankly, I have always been very skeptical about version 1.2 + DSG. The volume is not serious, and the power is only 105 hp. But it’s not just that they say that horsepower only sells cars, but Newton meters carry them. After all, the torque of the 1.2-liter turbo engine is very decent - 175 N∙m, and they are already available at 1500 rpm! For comparison, many atmospheric units with a volume of 1.6-1.8 liters produce less torque. Of course, on the German autobahn at 140-150 km / h, this engine becomes frankly difficult, and it starts to make decent noise. But at speeds up to 100 km / h, Yeti 1.2 is lucky with dignity both with mechanics and with a machine gun. The main thing is to be aware that Yeti 1.2 is designed primarily for use in the city.

In Europe, the range of engines for Yeti is wide. In addition to the petrol units presented, we also have a volume of 1.2 liters (105 hp), 1.4 liters (122 hp) and 1.8 liters. (152 hp or 160 hp), there are also several diesels. So, there is a 1.6-liter unit that produces 105 hp. It was he who was used to create the Yeti GreenLine. Such cars already have not only a standard start-stop system, but also a brake energy recovery function, tires with reduced rolling resistance, a ground clearance reduced by 25 mm and slightly different aerodynamics. Plus, the gearbox has changed gear ratios, and the engine has decreased idle speed. As a result, Yeti GreenLine with a 1.6-liter diesel engine spends only 4.6 liters of fuel for every hundred. In addition, European Yetis are equipped with three versions of the 2.0-liter diesel at once: 110 hp, 140 hp. and even 170 hp In Russia, only a 140-horsepower diesel engine is now available, which can only be taken with a DSG box and an all-wheel drive system (price - from 1,089,000 rubles). And it is unlikely that the situation will change after the updated cars enter the market (we recall that this will happen in February next year)

But the new engine with a volume of 1.4 liters and a power of 122 hp. (and let's not forget about the torque - 200 N∙m, which the engine produces in the range from 1500 to 4000 rpm) behaves more pleasantly on the autobahn. It is 30 thousand rubles more expensive than a 1.2-liter unit (if we compare versions with DSG), but we advise you to pay extra. Yeti 1.4 rides more confidently, at comparable speeds the engine runs at lower speeds (and therefore it is quieter in the cabin), and thanks to the additional horsepower and torque, driving such a machine is simply more convenient. In general, it was the 1.4-liter engine that seemed to me the most optimal for the Yeti in terms of price-power ratio (1.8-liter cars are even better, but they are no longer cheap). True, even after restyling, this unit will have a drawback - it still cannot be bought with an all-wheel drive system. The latter is available only with a 1.8 engine and a 2.0-liter turbodiesel (you can read more about the nature of the Yeti 1.8 DSG 4 × 4 in the material “I am a robot!”).

One of the advantages of Skoda Yeti is a large number of various drawers, and, for example, there are ropes in the door pockets to hold papers. A trifle? But nice. Plus, we note that the updated cars received a flashlight in the trunk. But why there never appeared a USB port, which has now become a familiar norm even among cheaper cars, is not clear (of course, you can use a special adapter, but you need to pay extra for it)

But let's be honest - although the Yeti is equipped with an all-wheel drive system, it is unlikely that any of the buyers of this car plans to drive it on serious off-road. Although Yeti has something in stock. This is, first of all, the fifth generation Haldex clutch, which has become a little lighter and faster than the previous version. Plus, the electronics, as before, allows you to turn on the Off Road mode, which somewhat facilitates off-road driving and is simply indispensable when descending a mountain. Of course, during the test of the updated Yeti, we were allowed to ride on a specially prepared track, where no one expected any surprises. But this route also made it clear that Yeti easily copes with diagonal hanging, is not afraid of descents and, when necessary, is able to pull the car out of the mud. But in general, it is foolish to demand more from him. Although it is possible - you could be convinced of this while traveling on the Yeti around Baikal. Read more in the material "Baikal, shamans and Yeti". Off Road mode is only available on all-wheel drive Yetis. After turning it on, the engine reacts less actively to pressing the gas pedal, the traction control system takes effect a little later, the ABS allows the wheels to block a little (this is useful when braking on sand or in snow). Plus, the hill descent assist system is activated, which itself controls the speed by braking the wheels.

Pricing for the Yeti has not yet been announced. However, there are doubts that they will change a lot compared to the version currently on sale. And Yeti is now in Russia from 739 thousand for the version with 1.2 and mechanics and from 799 thousand for the model with DSG. The equipment is not rich, but there is air conditioning, ABS, heated seats and a couple of pillows (and if we are talking about version 1.2 DSG, then there will also be ESP). A 1.4-liter car with DSG will cost 829 thousand, but you can’t buy an all-wheel drive car cheaper than 939,000 rubles (the engine will already have a volume of 1.8 liters). Yeti 1.8 4×4 + DSG - from 1,029,000 rubles

Yeti has enough competitors, especially in the all-wheel drive segment. For example, Kia Sportage with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive now costs from 1,069,900 rubles, Ford Kuga with the same set - 1,079,000 rubles. Suzuki New SX4 with all-wheel drive and automatic will cost 979 thousand (read more about this model in the material “Test Suzuki New SX4. Newer does not happen”), and Nissan X-Trail with more serious off-road capabilities is available now from 989 thousand for the version with automatic transmission.

So it's no wonder that the budget Yeti 1.2 with front-wheel drive and DSG is in the greatest demand. After all, such a car costs 799 thousand rubles, and, say, a new SX4 with automatic transmission is cheaper than 879 thousand. A front-wheel drive Sportage with an “automatic”, even taking into account the current discount, will cost at least 889,900 rubles (but the engine is already 2.0 liters there). Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 with CVT - 830 thousand. True, the Nissan Qashqai is still cheaper - now the version with a gun can be bought for 784,000 rubles. Although it should be borne in mind that the Japanese have already managed to introduce the new generation Qashqai (although it will only reach Russia in the summer).
